The absolute WORST dinner EVER! How does this place stay opened? Party of 2 at 5:30pm reservation. We were the only people dining in a pretty dining room ( I now know why!). Other restaurant 1/2 block away (Harvest on the Pond) had a line of approximately 40 people on line waiting to get in! We ordered what was described as "Jumbo" Shrimp Cocktail. They were 20/25 shrimp, in other words tiny! The cocktail sauce was plain ketchup. Caesar Salad was terrible. Dressing was gloppy. Ordered a shell steak medium. I think it may have been prepped 3-4 days ago. It was chock full of grizzle. Veins of fat running throughout making it inedible. The baked potato( which came with no butter, sour cream, nothing, was baked 3-4 days ago, also. The asparagus was awful, wrapped in bacon also 3-4 days ago. How does a decent restaurateur allow food this horrible to be served to human beings? We left the restaurant at 6:45 hungry and at a loss of $188.00!!! Someone in Montauk needs to shut this hellhole down! People will be getting sick. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES VISIT THIS PLACE! MUSE IS TERRIBLE! read more

This is the first time that we visited Muse and WOW were we pleasantly surprised!! Our waiter as well as restaurant manager went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the food and our evening. We started with cocktails followed by the salmon tartare wonton tacos (the perfect crunch to accompany tartare - & topped w tobiko ) and the BLT Chopped Salad that quite literally stood upright. As our mains, I ordered the delightful Shrimp Scampi while my boyfriend snacked on the Mussels a La Muse. (P.S. I even dipped my pasta in the mussel broth - we just couldn't get enough!) AND THE DESSERT!! We ordered 2 espresso martinis to accompany our tartufo. Muse at the End in Montauk was a perfect date night spot while also being right in Montauk town! We went in the midst of a tropical storm, but if you decide to go, request to sit on their patio. The food was truly a 10/10. read more

Good, not great. I'm thinking back to our meal at Muse this past June, and nothing stands out as remarkable. Then again, no other place in Montauk was head-and-shoulders better than Muse, so ... I think it says something when I'm grasping for things to say in this review. Muse was good enough. Why five stars, then? Muse was good enough in an environment that's very difficult for the hospitality industry, so all things being equal, maybe Muse could be great. Example - my wife and I were sat at a bar-height two-top, with tall bar stools, so we had to kinda hop onto the seat - and we're both six feet tall! Not a big deal, but brings great down to good. My local fish - delicious, crispy skin, this should have been a knockout. The fish was stacked on a pile of veggies, and both sat for long enough that the fish wound up slightly steamed, and the veggies, softer than what the chef intended, I think. A plating that looks nice, but is designed to quick service. Our service was passable, but not good enough to serve this dish the way it's intended. Again, good, not great. Though to my above point - staffing everywhere is short. Our server wasn't lazy, just stretched. Like everywhere. Our table - probably upgraded to seat us, would not normally have been used that way, but if a restaurant wants to survive in a pandemic, it's all about butts in seats as best you can. I wish Muse well, I think there's untapped potential here. I'll end with a pragmatic tip - it's walkable from most any place you'd stay, we were at Hero Beach Club all the way west and we walked it easily. read more

What an amazing experience. Staff was attentive. Food was fantastic. These meals (shrimp scampi and ahi tuna stir fry) were already a quarter eaten after I decided to snap a pic. The fries were great and so was the banana bread pudding for dessert. Great 5 year anniversary dinner. Happy Hour Drinks and $1 oysters Came here to check out the happy hour specials. They do happy hour Monday to Friday 5:30-6:30 which includes the $1 oysters, $4 drafts beers, discounted appetizers. We ended up ordering the twin forks draft oysters and wings all of which were fantastic. We were seated in the bar section of the restaurant which is divided from the main dining room. The bar tenders were awesome about coming around to the tables and getting orders in fast to get in under the end of the happy hour. We will definitely be back. Finding a happy hour like this especially in montauk during the summer is a gold mine. read more

I have to agree with another review- the service is lacking. Not very professional and I kind of felt we were just a nuisance they had to deal with although they were nice enough. The food was okay. We got the baked clams appetizer, the giant sea scallop entree and the cheesecake chimichanga for dessert. All were good not great but good. All were beautifully presented. I would have given it 3 stars but when we received the check there was a $4 charge for "Knob Creek". We asked what that was and the waiter said, matter of factly- that's the liquor we put in the Old Fashioned. What? We ordered an Old Fashioned but did not specify an upgraded liquor. The Old Fashion was already $18 and now you are charging us an extra $4 for a liquor we did not order???! No! First of all we did not order it, second of all not sure we even received it! They took the $4 off but left the tax on. Mistake? Poor communication/service? Padded bill? Not sure which one but I recommend at any restaurant always check your bill! Ok, we came here from Gurney's because we wanted a night out away from the resort. It was recommended by a few people so we took a chance. It was Xmas Eve Eve, and so out of season it's more quiet, but the bar was full and the restaurant was quiet which was a nice contrast. The food was great, the service was personable, and the ambiance romantic. Menu was also very reasonably priced given the remote location (Montauk is the far east end of Long Island). There is also a fixed price 3 course option for those weekday diner who arrive before 6:30 It will be nice to see what this is like in the summer, but for a couple seeking a winter beach-side getaway, it's a must visit spot for dinner or brunch. read more

The fish was fresh and they didn't skimp on the vegetables. the Strip Steak was cooked to perfection, exactly how my husband asked for it. Modern vibe with a nice clean atmosphere. If giving 0 stars an option I would. To start off we sat for dinner at 7:45 and we're immediately rushed into ordering food and drinks. The house salad was the best part of the meal. The drinks tasted like a college frat bartender made them. Within 5 minutes of placing our entrees our meals came out. The owner had some family party going on and was rushing diners out. The place was crowded with people standing all around the dining room. The steak was equivalent to dog food and the chimichurri was just an onion they diced in the back. I had the bolognese pasta and the sauce was Ragu canned sauce. This was the first dinner I had to just get the check and leave. We were in and out in 45 minutes. There was no respect for the diners. If your traveling to Montauk go grab a pizza and drink at Roberta's instead. read more

The hype for this place didn't live up to my group's experience at all. We sat outside which you would think would be a nice experience in Montauk. The drinks were overpriced and okay, the appetizers were honestly the only redeeming part of this meal and the main courses were a disaster. Everything was lacking in flavor, and nobody was content with their meal at my table. On top of that, the outside area was swarmed with flies and flies got in my food and in my drink. Mario was extremely rude, (the host/manager) I came with one friend and there was a family of 6 in front of us, he sat them down looked at me and disappeared for 10 mins in the kitchen, I literally had to go into the back to the kitchen to get a table and mind you it was only 8:45 on a wed night. I finally get a table through one of the servers and sat down for 10 mins and then he shows up out of nowhere and comes straight to my table and ask for ID and I said that we weren't ordering any drinks and was unnecessary to show ID. But did anyway then I asked for water and said that it's been 15 mins at this table and have no water and I said "it's unacceptable to be waiting this long just to get water" and Mario says "then just leave!" In front of everybody that was sitting next to us. I got extremely uncomfortable. But stayed cuz it was the only place in the area to get food at that hour. The servers were good to us but not Mario, and it's a shame that he ruined the experience for us. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK HERE!! Visited this restaurant while on vacation with a couple friends. Long story short the food was bland and subpar. Something I found very odd was that a couple dishes that we received (especially the scallop Mac and cheese) tasted like metal (completely turned us off; very difficult to eat). The first night staying in Montauk we wound up at Muse. I'm glad we did. We arrived earlier than our reservation and decided to sit at the bar for a drink in the meantime. My wife ordered a Cosmo and I got an Orange Stoli's with seltzer. The wonderful barmaid really knows how to make a drink! No weak drinks here, thank god! After BSing with another girl that worked there an two other patrons we went to our table and ordered. After ordering we received some complimentary bread with some butter, olive oil, what seemed to be a red pepper cheese spread. We split two appetizers, the tuna poke and the mussels. Both excellent but the mussels were OUTSTANDING!! We then split the Ahi tuna. Excellent food and excellent service. Definitely will return on my next trip. read more

We were denied our reservation because we have a service dog. A manager, I assume, came to the door and said service dogs were banned in Suffolk County. I live in Suffolk County, and this is a blatant lie, not to mention illegal through the ADA. I am reporting them. It's one thing to not be pet friendly, but service dogs are not pets. The man treated us horribly and was beyond rude. We didn't even give him a hard time, we just left. There was no reason for his illegal and abusive behavior. I loved this place! I loved their outdoor seating option. We ate very early which I highly recommend as the place books up very fast. They also don't allow outdoor seating after a certain point because of the temperature and weather. Luckily we came early and got to pick! I had the salmon peccolini which was amazing! Super fresh and flavorful. I really enjoyed the flavors and how the disk was prepared. The food came out super fast too! We came here here with a big group of 10+. The service was great, especially considering we were such a big group. I loved the food. I got the Tuna Poké and the Gorgonzola strip steak. Both were very flavorful. The potatoes that came with the steak were some of the best I've ever had. Also the bread that came before the meals came with two kinds of butter, one of which was tomato based. I'm not even that big of a fan of tomato, but it was delicious. I very much appreciated the ambiance of the place. We were in the side room. However, I saw the bar in the other room and it's quite a cool looking bar. Our family dinner at The Muse last night was absolutely wonderful. The service was attentive and professional. The food was beautifully prepared and every dish we ordered was delicious. The mussels with artichoke hearts (amazing); Corn Poppers (!!!); 1/2 Chicken Under A Brick (juicy, crispy, tender, velvety); Whole Pan-Fried Special Snapper (cooked to perfection). We felt like we were known as regulars here, as every server and wait person checked in regularly to see if we needed anything, and with a smile. Restaurant: We ate here off season and it wasn't that crowded. The staff seemed nice but they essentially ignored us. We were never offered a second drink, for example. I tried to get my server's attention for one but was ignored so the next time I tried we got the check and went to the bar for our second drink. The food was okay but nothing spectacular. We sampled several small plates rather than ordering entrees. Nothing was excellent enough to mention in this review. Bar: Very nice. The bartenders were friendly and made GREAT martinis. It was nice that they had live music too. We didn't realize there was a separate bar menu, which looked similar to the small plates menu with some additions. What a gem of a getaway this restaurant is! The atmosphere is very chic and welcoming. The cuisine as good as anything in you will find in NYC or Boston, and the service is even better. Even more impressive given its the off season in a beach town, is the level of menu diversity and enthusiasm of the staff.
