I had passed this place 40million times and never saw it until Saturday. I went there with family and although being in a strip mall it is very nice. They have super huge televisions all around and they even do hibachi. He were seated by a very nice hostess to a clean table. We were give the Kani salad which was a nice touch and it tasted ok. I ordered the Thai curry chicken and I wanted it extra spicy. They did there best but it wasn't spicy enough. The sauce had an excellent taste and the chicken was very tender. I recommend this dish to all those that want to try curry but are afraid of or just that don't like spice. It is an excellent introduction to curry. The beer was great and everything everyone else got was good as well. They do have a sushi bar but I did not try any. There was no seafood smell so that let me know that everything is fresh maybe next time I will try that. All and all it was a good time with great people and good food. We have been coming here for a very long time and it was always great. Not the best service or drinks but food always great! Tried hibachi for first time with family and it was awful. Very embarrassing since the servers were not normal, impaired. Drinks were terrible. Water is served from a small dirty sink. Waiter was messing up orders. No fun hibachi atmosphere. Never again! Daughter came to visit and wanted her favorite Chinese food, it was awful. I ordered the shrimp tempura, she ordered chicken and broccoli and her dad ordered the spare ribs. The chicken and broccoli was dry and there was almost no sauce, the ribs was too dried out to eat and the shrimp tempura was TWO shrimps which were mushy and soft and some nasty unrecognizable fried vegetables (which we don't eat). When I called to complain they told me the appetizer tempura shrimp only comes with TWO for $9.95 and yes, take out food is mushy or dry, only in the restaurant is the shrimps crispy and the other food not dry???? For $42+, the food was inetible and they basically felt if we expected good take out, that's our fault. Never again. There are plenty of other places that care about good take out, don't need to be overcharged for BAD FOOD. read more

My family and I have come here for so many years and now they are just getting rude and nasty. We ordered $150 worth of sushi here for a party and my mom called and asked if she can add a California roll to the order. The lady said sure no problem but when my fiancé got there they said they will not give it to him because we wanted it for free? No we just wanted to add another roll. Then when we asked for sauce on the side they said no because he had already paid. He asked for 1 spicy mayo. That should have not been a problem. Then we decided to give them one more chance and placed an online order and they called me and told me they had to raise the price that was on my online order. I told them forget it. Why raise a price when I paid for it online already? They don't care about their customers and are extremely rude. Truly a shame. read more

Do not expect to be seated and eat the food you just ordered if it's not over $10. Not only did she take away from a server being able to receive a generous tip (I too am in the industry) but this place will not receive anymore business from my family or I. I was denied in the most rudest way after I sat at the bar area to eat my soup. I was yelled at and talked to very poorly. I have sat in for soup before even a roll before and never had a problem. Not only did she (the owner) deny me but pushed the soup in my hands pretty much shoving it in my face to get out. But when I payed for my soup which she made me do that first I said to her I would like to have it here/ to stay. And she didn't say anything I waited 5-10 min for an egg drop wonton soup took my jacket off and was treated me the way no paying customer should be treated. Having been out of state for a while I was excited to get some good Chinese food! During our holiday shopping we came across mushroom and decided to give it a go! The lunch menu (which included Chinese and Japanese selections) was good and was very reasonably priced. I ordered an egg roll--very classic, egg drop soup--what u would expect, and chicken lo mein--disappointing. The chicken in the lo mein was dry and the noodles were thicker than what I consider 'normal' lo mein noodles. Additionally, I asked for crunchy noodles for the soup and they said they didn't have that! Is that not odd for a Chinese restaurant? Not sure that I would go out of my way to eat here in the future. read more

I honestly am struggling on how to judge this establishment.. on one hand the food was pretty good for a place that has both Chinese and Japanese cuisine (which to me is usually a big no) but on the other they absolutely botched my reservation and ruined my beautiful mothers Mother's Day. I had called and asked for a reservation as my mother was craving hi at hi from this place. Against my better judgment I obliged. My party was of 4 and I was told they do not take a reservation for less than 6 for hibachi and if we just come in we will be taken care of no problem. I was grateful and excited to get my mom the dinner she wanted for her day. That was until I had walked in and when asking for a spot at the hibachi they looked at me like I was crazy for expecting to just walk in without a reservation. After telling them I had called and it was their mistake not mine, all of a sudden nobody spoke English other than muttering the words to follow them to a table outside of the hibachi area. My wonderful mother not being the confrontational person she is agreed and we ate amongst the peasants in the local seating. The food was pretty good though. Very gutsy doing two different cuisines. We have lived in Babylon for nearly five year and have never been to Mushroom. We decided tonight was the night to eat here. We were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and acoustics. Restaurant was crowded by noice level was surprisingly low. So nice to be able to sit and have a conversation We started off with egg drop and wonton soup and both were excellent. Next we had the egg roll and bbq beef stick. The egg roll was average and bbq beef was very good. I had the pineapple pork fried rice which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the seafood tempura which was ok. Would not order it again. Portions are large and we will definitely be back again and try different items on the menu. read more

I just keep saying that I shouldn't have eaten inside. Wow, what a let down this place has become. We used to order from this place all the time and the food was always great. Delivery was relatively quick and the food was always fresh. Then they suddenly closed for "renovations" and when we found ourselves in the shopping center where they are located on a Tuesday night at 9 and realized they were open again, we decided to eat in. I'm not sure what renovations they did but I think they need some more. Sure the place is nice inside but it has the heavy stench of old oil that lingers about which is a shame because the place really does look nice. While I am on the subject of appearance, I want to address the staff.( and those of you who know me know hat I do not put that much stock into appearance) Upon entering I notice that the host of the restaurant is dressed in a T-shirt and shorts. I'm all for being casual but there is a time and a place, and a restaurant that bills itself as a nicer one should have their hosts dress the part. Even the "sushi Chefs" looked odd. Not what I have come to expect from a place that before my visit had always made me assume everything was clean and fresh. Unfortunately the experience only went downhill from there. After sitting down we were greeted by our waiter who was very friendly and helpful. I can not say enough good things about him . We were give water and hot tea and we asked for two cokes ( which were going flat) and we decided on two apps and two mains to share. The apps came first and we got the boneless spare ribs and fried dumplings. The dumplings were good and seemed fresh. The ribs were another story. What they brought out to us were the worst boneless spare ribs I've ever gotten. They were limp, greasy, oily and dry inside all at the same time. To me they seemed like they were microwaved. We sent them back after two bites. In my lifetime I can count on one hand the number of times I have sent food back . The mains we ordered were the chicken with spicy tea sauce which was very good and the other was the house special Chow fun which was lackluster at best. It lacked flavor and the noodles were one giant gelatinous lump. As I mentioned before the only saving grace was the wait staff. They were genuinely nice and helpful. I am so disappointed that a place that I had like has gone by the wayside. I try to give the benefit of the doubt as to why they were so very bad that night and I just can not. There is no forgiveness for sending out microwaved boneless ribs, not ever. I will let some time pass before I even think about trying them again, if I ever do. I've been coming here for years and been through many changes but some things have never changed such as the most delicious Chinese food I've ever had the shrimp and chicken with basil is a must as is the pineapple fried rice !! As for sushi and hibachi you can't go wrong either my husband and I have even had a private party here for our rehearsal dinner and our guests could not believe how accommodating they are !! Also a little tip sit at the sushi bar and they always give you free appetizers :) and make sure you give them A tip and they will remember your face and the freebies continue to get bigger !! Decor is clean and fashionable. We ordered and our young waiter was surprised that we didn't want alcohol and we were ready to order. I love coming here for their lunch specials...They offer a wide range of cuisine ranging from Americanized Chinese food (Sesame Chicken, etc), Sushi, and Japanese. No Korean though :( The food / experience here is definitely a HUGE STEP up from your little Chinese food take out place on the corner. Prices for their lunch specials all fall under $10 (around $6-8) which is awesome and the quantity of food is enough to split with a friend if you want to share dishes. The order arrived sans pancakes for the Peking Duck, a little disappointed that it took 40 minutes for the pancakes to arrive after I called to say they forgot to include them. Ordered a Tsingtao and shrimp toast to have there and boneless ribs and an egg roll to take home. First of all, everyone was very friendly and quick to assist, but the food sub par. Could not finish a thing, warm beer, burnt shrimp toast, over cooked boneless ribs (tasted like yesterdays warmed back up) and the blandest (over wrapped w/too many layers) of egg roll ever. I just wasted 25$ and the only good thing, other than the nice people up front, is that warm beer gives you a buzz so it wasn't a total loss.
