Last evening the service was so bad, my 8 year old grandson put down his head and cried! 4 years ago we had taken them there for hibachi. Looking for a fun night with the kids we made a reservation to take them there for dinner. We had a 6 pm reservation. They bring us to our seats and squeeze us in a corner with complete strangers. We asked to be moved to some empty seats so the kids could see the hibachi grill. After waiting for an hour to get our soup or salad, we see that the chef is not going to cook at our grill. Everyone goes to hibachi for the show! We weren't going to get a show. It was so sad to see my grandchildren so disappointed. I quietly got up and asked to see a manager. The manager seemed to understand and promised that the chef would cook on our grill. What he did was turn his back on the people across from us and then they had nobody in front of them. Then he proceeded to do something I have never seen in a hibachi restaurant, he cooked one thing at a time and if you got chicken and shrimp, you got shrimp, and then maybe a half hour later you got the chicken. The only thing I will say positive is the food tasted good. They also added on the gratuity, otherwise for the first time ever, my dissatisfaction would've been reflected in the tip. The party platter is the best deal on the South Shore. Call for pick up on that alone and this place is a 5. Sushi is great. Unfortunately they lost 1.5 stars because their customer service is not good. The person up front was rude as I went in to ask a few questions about the hibachi. Also, tofu was a no-go. Best Chinese restaurant for a nice sit down dinner. Good food and clean.

We spent 50 dollars on dinner. I ordered their "famous" sesame chicken and boneless spare ribs and lo mein and won ton soup. Everything was inedible, rubbery and absolutely no flavor . When I called fo complain I was told no one has ever complained about their food and therefore I was wrong. I offered to return the food to show them and she got upset and hung up on me . Customer service is horrible and food was even worse . Will never go back and highly DO NOT recommend. read more

You should pick what type of restaurant you are going to be. For some reason my parents (my mom passed on) but my dad loves the place. The customer service is good just to loud and I feel the portion size could be better. They have done a recontruction in the last year so the place looks nice. If you want a nice one on one dinner its not the place but if you want to bring the whole family on a budget its the place to go for Chinese and Japanese. read more

Delicious! From start to finish! I enjoyed a California roll to start, it was great! Nice size pieces, not to big they fit in my mouth with out choking like some other places. Dinner continued with beef negimaki, this had asparagus and scallion in the middle, it was amazing! The beef was so tender and the asparagus was crisp and tatted so fresh. My husband had shrimp and chicken teriyaki, he said the best he has had in a very long time! The best part was the little pot of tea. You don't find that around much anymore. If you are looking for a good Chinese restaurant in the west babylon, Lindenhurst, Babylon area then look no more. Mushroom is pricey but has the best food ever. Their menu is a combination of sushi Chinese, Japanese, and Hibachi. They have excellent fresh sushi that is as good as a stand alone sushi restaurant if not better. I went during lunch I get my order. I think the food was put on very small plates. That's a constructive criticism, that's not what I'm mad about though. I get my check. I look it over. Every price was correct except on one thing. There was an overcharge of 50 cents on one item. I show it to the waiter the correct price on the menu. He insisted it's that. He made up some story. I was thinking should I call the police for 50 cents? They are mediators. Should I just pay what I owe and not pay the 50 cents and let them call the police on me if they want? The police I wasn't embarrassed about. That it was super busy it was a holiday yes that I would've been. I paid it and left. Let's see what you accomplished with that? 1. I am a huge fan of Mushroom, the prices are pretty decent, but you definitely get your moneys worth. I especially love their lunch menu, their lunch box specials (Japanese menu) are great! I also really enjoy their sushi selection; the sushi bar in the restaurant is very clean and fun to sit at. I haven't tried their hibachi grill yet, but from what I've seen while in the restaurant its very entertaining. I recomend this restaurant to anyone who likes to have a combination of chinese and japanese food. Try their Shumai (shrimp dumplings, on Japanese appetizer menu) and their Shrimp Tempura Roll (special roll menu) It's amazing! read more

This place is AWFUL! The staff is so unbelievably rude. They treat customers like trash. As if they're doing you a favor. The 2 times I walked in to order the food for takeout there was a woman at the desk (I think it's the owner) and she greeted me with "yes what do you want?". Then my 16 year old son went in for hibachi with a friend. He gave the chef a $10 tip and the chef had the audacity to ask if he should come back for the other $10. First of all no one has to tip you and second how dare they ask for a specific amount. My son said all he did was stand there and cook he did not even make it fun for them at all. People go out for the "hibachi experience" to have a good time and it was just a boring dinner. And last they charge extra for EVERYTHING! My coworkers order lunch from here under their "lunch special" and each time the total is different. For example they once requested fried rice instead of white rice and were charged an extra $3. Terrible business. Placed a decent sized order for delivery in which we waited an hour to receive, not a problem. Proceeded to check and the order and realized we were missing multiple items. When calling the restaurant to receive the missing food took close to ANOTHER hour for that to arrive. Upon speaking with the manager they were unable to make compensation in any way. I have been ordering from Mushroom in the past. i usually order ahead and pick up. I ordered the pad Thai with shrimp. It cost me $14 and some change. I can tell you it was not up to the Mushroom I used to order from standards. The portion size was small which is okay if the food tastes good. However the food didn't taste that great I 80% noodles 10% bean sprouts and maybe 4 jumbo shrimps. It was topped off with like 3 tablespoons of crushed peanuts. I'm really disappointed and don't think I will order from them again. Their quality seems to be going down. I honestly felt ripped off.... I would still give them 2 stars due to the past experiences. My wife and I eat here often, the food is always delicious and the staff is friendly and attentive. The sushi is always fresh and The Dragon roll and Godzilla roll are two favorites of mine. The Spider roll hand roll is awesome with crunchy tempura flakes and soft shell crab that will get your mouth to watering the minute you taste it! I love the cool dark atmosphere and there is also a sit down Hibachi in the restaurant as well. I have been enjoying their Dragon Rolls for years and on special occasions, i have booked the hibachi dinner show with this restaurant and have always enjoyed it with friends and family. Girls night out the other night. 3 of us shared: shrimp chow fun, vegetable dumplings and chicken with pineapple. Atmosphere: In a strip mall next door to Yo Luv it yogurt. Easy to miss but I had seen it a few months back and it looked nice so I wanted to try it. Inside is much nicer than a take out place. Not glamorous and amazing but nicer than your average chinese restaurant. Food: There was nothing left on any of the the plates when we left. I really enjoyed what we ordered and it wasn't greasy. Cost: $39 including tip (we had a coupon which helped), so it was $13 for each of us. Not bad for what we got. Portions were not huge but were just right for 3 people. Service: Nothing wrong with it. They were quick and left us alone. We didn't stay long enough to see if they refilled water glasses promptly or not. We did not try the hibachi. I plan to go back and try it. Nice decor, friendly at door, had to repeat myself a dozen times to tell them I did not want to be rushed, asked specifically to give me main dish order after I finished my soup, despite this not one but two servers came up to me interrupting to ask what I wanted for a main course, not once , not twice, but three times for one a 5 for the other before I could finish my soup. However, they were less attentive with brining noodles, (not provided unless requested twice - and stale), dish ordered was not what came to table, when I complained I was told that I was wrong, menu description was not even close, also asked for dish to be made very spicy, came our bland. Lo Mein was actually linguine had no flavor except the hint of burnt food, like the pan was dirty or something the pork was gray unlile any pork I've ever seen, shrimp toast very oily, spring rolls no flavor, General Tsos was so sweet lots of breading and fatty.
