The ambiance is relaxing and allows you to bask in the experience of the sushi ! The sushi Itame (chefs in the US), are Japanese not from other countries as most sushi restaurants are here in LA. You will find the cuts will be succulent and melt in your mouth . I can only say this is 5 star sushi in California. This is a place to eat amazing sushi in an authentic Japanese setting . I promise that your meal will NOT DISSAPOINT .

Authentic Japanese Taste Such a great sushi restaurant! I was so happy to find a place where I can enjoy authentic Japanese flavors in the U.S. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and it really reminded me of the taste of Japan. I'll definitely come back!

Still one of my faves after all these years! Location 4: Chatsworth California, off of Devonshire and DeSoto, in a small strip mall. Limited parking on the lot but you can park on the street as well. Venue 4: Typical San Fernando valley mom and pop sushi establishment with a sushi bar and a handful of tables. No outdoor seating. Service 4: Always friendly, polite and attentive. Many of the servers have been there for the last several years. Drinks 4: Beer on tap and bottles, wine, sake, tea and soft drinks. Sapporo on tap is pretty solid and their sake list is pretty good. Food 4: Fresh, high quality fish prepared and served by experienced chefs that have been with the restaurant for many years. I've been going there for over 20 years and most of the chefs there date back to those days! Solid menu of sushi, sashimi, rolls and Japanese dishes. The Last Word: A great choice in the San Fernando Valley for authentic Japanese cuisine without the hype! One of my culinary comfort zones. Highly recommended.

It's been a while, since I last visited Mutsumi, so it was time to pay it another visit. Located in a corner of a very small strip mall, with congested parking, the sushi spot still commands a loyal following. It is a cozy place that has a small sit down sushi counter (3 sushi chefs, at that) and few tables in a compact dining space. Therefore, not surprising that this place gets full fast and you may have to wait for a spot, even though you have a reservation. I was dining solo and waited about 10 minutes for my corner table. Started with my favorite here, the Baked Oyster Dynamite. It lived up to my past memories. For the main, my selection was the Sashimi Dinner Combo. It comes with Tuna, Yellow Tail, Amber Jack Scallop, Salmon and Sweet Shrimp. The raw seafood was fresh and tender. This dish includes steam rice and miso soup, which was served hot and flavorful, with sea weed and small cubes of tofu. A salad was also included. Disappointingly, it only contained lettuce and arrived fully doused with thousand island dressing. I had to send it back and ask for another try, this time with the lettuce and dressing separated. Furthermore, why not a Japanese or ginger dressing to jive with the restaurant? Service was attentive, timely, caring and delivered in a professional manner.

Haven't been here for 11mos according to Yelp, but still very good spot for high quality sushi! Just ate here & would still absolutely recommend this place to anyone who is a sushi enthusiast! Great service & the food is to die for! 5/5 stars!

I just started a new position at a nearby law office and was looking for places to eat. I came across their menu and was encouraged to see they had sukiyaki on the dinner menu. Unfortunately, I didn't envision myself eating dinner there, but I went for lunch and asked if they were actually serving it at dinner. Unfortunately, it appears they don't. I've been searching for a Japanese restaurant that serves it, with no avail. :-( Nevertheless, I did eat lunch there and it was magnificent. My wife is Nihonjin (Sansei, actually) and she's trained me well in what good sushi and Japanese food is. I had their lunch special and was surprised to have it start with a small dish of Sunomono accompanying the Miso soup. The main dish was a nice salad, a handful of bean sprouts, half a dozen green beans covered in sesame seeds, two pieces of Tempura shrimp, several pieces of Tempura vegetables, and four pieces of Spicy Tuna Roll. There was also a nice big bowl of gohan (rice). I finished everything, even though my 78 year old hands are now having trouble with hashi. For my money, the service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the portions were just right. Next time I will have some Toro and Hamachi to really experience the quality of their fish. There will definitely be a next (and probably a next and another next) time.

The quality of fish here is amazing. It's been a while since I dined here. I came to dinner with my sister and cousins and had a lovely time. Great service and great sushi. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The sea trout was amazing, the scallops melt in your mouth. The yellowtail hand roll stole my heart and the crispy rice tuna was addictingly good. The ambiance is ok, dated restaurant with old furniture but who cares I'm here for the sushi. It's clean and organized. If you are looking for amazing sushi look no further. Stop by and check them out.

One of my most favorite sushi spots ever now. Sad that I moved away from the area, but when I visit, this place comes first! Such quality sushi here, can get pricy, but it's well worth it. The first time I came here I had the best experience, but the second time and third time (both within a week) I will say I was disappointed because they ran out of the sweet shrimp and had served me salmon sushi when I specifically ordered salmon belly , both times that I came. Other than the above, everything else was satisfying. My favorite roll here is the creamy salmon, it is delicious! The spicy scallop roll is good too. Their oysters are a must, they are too good( a little pricey) and their miso soup is my fave.

It's an…read moreall-you-can-eat spot that's a little pricier than some of the other AYCE options in the area, but the quality is noticeably better. They offer both a regular and premium menu, and I'd definitely recommend going premium; the additional options are worth it. If you love yuzu and garlic oil, don't even read the rest of this--just drive on over. Their lunch special runs until 3 PM on weekdays, and the lunch menu is the same as dinner, which is a nice bonus. The restaurant has a modern look with wooden paneling and strip lighting, making it feel like a great date-night spot. There is ample parking as it's situated in a larger shopping plaza. Another thing I really liked is that sushi items come one piece at a time, while rolls come as four pieces, so you can try a much wider variety without getting overly full on one item. It's perfect for an AYCE menu where you want to sample as much as possible. We ordered from the premium menu and everything we tried was chef's kiss. They did seem to be having a bit of an off day with the service. Some of our food was delayed, and orders placed well after ours were coming out before ours. Our server did apologize and mention they were having some issues in the back but everything eventually came out, and it was very good. My favorites were the Ama Ebi (sweet shrimp), the Japanese scallop (which practically melts in your mouth) and the Yellowtail Cilantro Roll. Overall, if you're willing to spend a little more for better-quality AYCE sushi, Kizame is definitely your new spot.

I ordered tamago sushi for my toddler, and it was clearly spoiled. It's likely about 3 days old based on how far off it had gone. Not what you expect to be served, especially for a young child. Then, despite sitting down at 7:30pm, we were asked to leave at 8:30pm while my girls were still eating their ice cream, because the restaurant had other guests waiting (Wasn't the time limit two hours, not one?!). I tried to make the best of it and had my girls carry their ice cream out with them, but in the rush, my toddler dropped hers and burst into tears. It's disappointing to see a place we've loved start cutting corners on food quality and rushing loyal customers out the door. What happened, Kizame?

We found Moon Sushi Bar and saw good reviews and so we decided to come and check it out. Upon entering, it was a bit of a rough start as it was pretty busy and borderline packed, and all in small restaurant. I don't know if the one waiter working never saw us because he was so busy, or what was happening because it took them five minutes just to acknowledge us and motion towards a table. Once we sat down, again, it took another five minutes just to get a menu. Right before we had gotten the menu, we had just debated leaving because it had been ten minutes and it seemed like maybe they had a full enough plate as it was. However, we're glad we stayed, though, because once we got our food, it was worth it! We ordered with the one guy who was taking orders and helping out most of the diners here. It did take a long time to get our food, which ended up biting us in the ass at the end when we wanted to order another roll, but had to wait, again, a long time just to receive it. At that point, too, most people had left, so we had expected it to come out maybe a tad bit faster, but it didn't. We ordered two specialty rolls and a normal basic roll. For how long it took, we should have gotten edamame and ordered them all at the beginning. Both of the specialty rolls were amazing and packed with flavor. One had a ponzu sauce, and another a yuzu lemon sauce, both of which my boyfriend and I love, so these were up our alley. The basic shrimp tempura roll was also really good, especially for being a more traditional and plain roll. None of it was too heavy, but after sharing three rolls, we were (unfortunately) full. We're looking forward to coming back to this sushi shop for our next sushi date night! They're so close by and have such great customer service and food. It was so nice and reassuring to see that a majority of people who came inside to eat, also knew the waiter and people working and were regulars. The waiter and guy who was taking care of us, who I could only assume to be the owner or manager, was saying thank you to each and every one of their customers and even giving some hugs! A group of guys came in and all cheered, laughed, and ended up also taking a shot of sake with the guy as well! Everyone who was working and eating all seemed so happy to be there. The ambiance and energy is unbeatable in such a friendly and positive environment.
