meat jun and chicken katsu
Marisa A.

Don't patronize this establishment. Ever since the new owners took over the food has gone downhill. The first time I ordered after the new owners took over the portion for the sides went down. So i decided to stop going here. But today I felt like eating korean food. I ordered a combo with meat jun and bbq chicken. When I got back to my office I had meat jun and chicken katsu. I called them and the lady couldn't understand what I was saying. I kept telling her that I didn't get what i ordered. Then she asked if i could come back and show her and after I said I couldn't come back today, she hung up on me. I know english is their second language, but she should've handed the phone call to someone who could understand what I was saying. Not going back there. I should mention that the already cooked bbq chicken was battered and deep fried and served as chicken katsu. See pic. Auwe.

This is a pretty popular Korean food lunch spot in downtown so except a line when coming during weekday lunch hours. I ordered the seafood soup with comes with rice and 2 sides. The soup was hot and perfect for a cold gloomy day. I really like their Kimchee but choose their daikon and kimchee cucumber this visit and those sides were equally delicious. Service is always pretty fast even when they are busy.

Had this for lunch they are located on Bishop Street in Downtown, Honolulu The portions are huge and the flavors of the BBQ meats and Chicken was very tasty. The Fried Mando was also very good with lots of flavor and crispy not soggy or soft The side vegetable dishes also was very good I had the shredded daikon, cucumber Kim Chee the pickled seaweed and rice noodles it wasn't spicy but the flavor was good.

Meat jun + Mandoo Combo $18 all for this little plate. More rice than meat

One of the many to go lunch spots located at bishop square. However, the price is pretty high for what is given. I ordered a meat jun + mandoo combo which is $18. Comes with 4 sides. The meat portion was so small. They give a small meat jun cut into 6 small strips and 6 pieces of mandoo. The mandoo wasn't very crunchy and more on the softer side. There was more white rice than meat. However, the sides were delicious. If I were to come here again, I would just get the vegetable plate that comes with rice and thats it. With what they gave, I feel that other bbq places provide way more such as tastys or yummy bbq. This location was just more convenient wise with working close by.

If you're in downtown area near Bishop Street close to Jack-in-the Box, this is a decent Korean bbq place. It's strictly takeout place. There's no sitting area. I got the mini meat jun plate with 2 choices: sliced daikon and fishcake for $10 and some change. They have variety of side dishes here. I came here shortly after 11am so it wasn't too busy but people started coming after I ordered. The service was efficient. My order didn't take more than 10 minutes. Meat jun came with a shoyu sauce with gingerly flavor. The sauce added yummy flavor the meat jun. I hope to return and try other things.

If you're working in downtown Honolulu and want some Korean BBQ, this place is your go to destination. It's located Tamarind Park in downtown Honolulu. This spot is one of my coworker and I's favorite lunch spots to go to. The service here is very exceptional. Between the two ladies in the front, they seem like they got everything under control which is a good thing because during the lunch rush hour, it can get very busy and you can expect lines out the door. This restaurant has no seating area inside, but there are a lot of tables and seats outside. The food here is pretty great too. I usually order their fried chicken and it is one of the best fried chicken I've had. I feel like they incorporate a little hint of curry in their batter. I could eat their fried chicken all day, err day. I've also tried their pork cutlet which also is flavorful. The batter/meat ratio is a perfect balance. Overall, this has been one of my go to spots in downtown and I definitely recommend if you want flavorful Korean BBQ

Mini meat jun no rice

Go early because they get crazy busy at lunch with a long line out the door (which should tell you how good they are). After you order youll have to wait outside until they call your number since its not that big inside. I like that they take credit card. FOOD super tasty! Meat jun is well marinated so you really dont even need to use the side sauce. They also offer brown rice. Or you can get no rice and pick an extra banchan (side). My usuals: meat jun, kalbi, or bbq chicken SERVICE theyre pretty fast even if its busy Polite but not overly friendly

Mini Meat Jun

This has been my go-to Korean BBQ in downtown for years. I usually get the mini meat jun. Mini plates come with 2 choices of vegetables. The meat jun is soft and tasty. This place does get busy during lunch so if you're short of time, best to call in your order first. If I'm not eating back in the office, I would eat at the tables by this place. The tables are normal height but the chairs are pretty low. It's a rather odd setup.

Mandoo kook (no noodles)

I had the mandoo kook with 2 vegetables and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. They gave about 10 mandoo in a seaweed broth that was very flavorful. Would definitely recommend for the price.

First off, all the complimentary banchan (Korean side dishes). From the classic kimchi, fishcake, cucumber kimchi, and radish. And if you're dining in, just ask and you can get refills of whatever you want more of. If you're doing take out, they still give you all of the banchan!v We did dine-in but take out / online orders seemed popular. But I loved dining in because of the Ajumma here! She was so sweet and funny, and even made the perfect bite (radish kimchi on top of the meat jun, so the acid offsets the oily fried jun) and fed it to my boyfriend LOL. We got a ton of food! The seafood soondabu soup, seafood korean pancake, seafood bibimbap, meat jun, and zucchini jun. We had a lot of leftovers that we took home. The food was good but it's really the service and love that makes this a 5-star experience.

The tofu was silky soft and fresh, soaking up all the flavor from the broth. The lunch set is a great value--you get soondubu bubbling hot, rice, and banchan that were all solid and well-seasoned. Portions were filling without being heavy, which makes it an ideal lunch option. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out fast even during lunch hours. This is definitely one of those places you crave when you want something warm, satisfying, and comforting. I'll absolutely be back for this again.

The brisket and beef belly (toro) were my favorites, super flavorful and cooked perfectly. It doesn't come with salad, egg, or soup, but you still get a solid KBBQ experience with just meat and banchan. If you're looking for something simple and satisfying, this is a great deal. Also, the restaurant is really spacious, which makes the whole experience feel more relaxed and comfortable. Would definitely come back for a quick KBBQ fix.

Sorry, but this place feels like a tourist trap. They're clearly benefiting from being in a prime…read morelocation with very few Korean BBQ options nearby. The premium AYCE option is around $60 per person, which would be reasonable if the quality matched the price. Unfortunately, it doesn't. We're from the Bay Area and have been to countless Korean BBQ restaurants with significantly better meat quality for the same price or less. To make matters worse, even at the highest-priced AYCE tier, fountain drinks aren't included. What really left a bad impression was the automatic 20% gratuity. Our group consisted of two separate parties of three people each. We were seated together at one large table with two grills, but we had separate bills, ordered different AYCE meats option, didn't share food, and made that CLEAR before ordering. The menu states that automatic gratuity applies to parties of five or more, yet we were still charged because we happened to sit together. Had we known this was their policy, we would have chosen another restaurant or sat at different areas of the restaurant. The reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because our servers were friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions about the menu and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Unfortunately, when we brought the gratuity issue to the manager, he insisted we were one large party despite us being separate parties with separate orders and separate checks. At the end of the day, the only difference was that we happened to be sitting at the same table. Overall, the service from the staff was great, but the overpriced food, disappointing meat quality, and questionable gratuity policy make it hard for me to recommend this place.
