Sometimes you get lucky and a business openly advertises that misrepresentation is a cornerstone of their operating philosophy. Such is the case with "My Dad's", who have appropriated a likeness of the name and logo of a trusted and well-established brand for their own ends. I should have listened. The proprietor is a friendly guy with an inviting smile. Service was quick. Still, I managed to leave the shop feeling fleeced, and with a renewed mistrust of mechanics. My reason for visiting was to get an oil change. The listed price for an oil change has an asterisk next to it. The real price is an additional 50%. After the oil change was completed, the technician called me into the garage and showed me a pair of dirty air filters that he had pulled from under the hood of my car. He suggested that I have them replaced. I asked how much that would be. He said twenty-five dollars. I was hesitant to go through with it, because I don't like being upsold, but I agreed to the price and went back to the lobby. Five minutes later, I received a bill stating that I was charged twenty-five dollars -- EACH -- for the two filter replacements. I spoke to the proprietor and politely told him that I felt that the technician had been dishonest. I never would have agreed to the air filter replacements at such an inflated price. The proprietor courteously told me that I could, in fact, get the same air filters for half the price (more like 75% less in actuality) at another store, but justified his bill by telling me that his shop tries to "provide quality service" of the kind that one can't find at a brand-name automotive store. We have very different ideas about what quality service is. Not recommended. read more

I came here for front disc pad replacement for a 2015 Honda fit. Place is clean, clean bathroom. Wifi access. Total cost was 292.xx dollars including parts. I had the wrong impression that the service would have cost 129$ from a previous review. That user was misleading. Come here if you need decent to good service with no waiting. This is not the place for extreme bargain to say the least. read more

I have been coming here for 18 years and Dave and Bob are honest trustworthy and through good times and bad times they have always worked with me. Recently I was involved in a light traffic accident and needed by lower control arm replaced and ball joint. Being tight on cash and not expecting my day to start this way, I was towed to MyDad's trusting I would not be gauged unfairly due to my circumstance. This business the old fashion way with great service and communication to the customer. They will not be the cheapest in price but frankly you get what you pay for and that is trust ,quality, and loyalty as most customers that have been coming here have be coming here for a long time. I called up My Dad's Auto Service today to find out the cost of an oil change, and was quoted a price. I asked if there are any hidden extras, and was assured there wouldn't be. I then went there, and was told a special filter was required for an extra fee (beyond what I had been quoted on the phone). I told the dude I had called to make sure there'd be no hidden extras. He said he knows I called, but he just doesn't care. He blamed his colleague for failing to look up what was needed. I said he should honor what I was quoted. After all, I did my part, and drove there (a moderate distance) based on the quote. He said no. Just didn't care. Wouldn't even compromise. Just didn't care. I think his attitude was terrible, and he made a bad decision. I left and will never return. Maybe a few others who read this review also will choose another business. All he had to do was eat the price of the special filter (about $6-7, or even less if he had offered a compromise). Just didn't care. read more

I took my car in for an oil change this morning. They said an appointment wasn't needed and I got right in. They said that in the afternoons they get busier, so you might want to call ahead if you don't want to wait. It was the fastest oil change I've ever had. $31 with tax. I got a punch card for buy four get one free, I believe. And like MeKayla said, there was NO UPSELL. Shocking, really. I asked about a high-mileage tuneup and he said that they'd be happy to give me a quote, but that my car seemed to be running just fine. It was maybe the first time in my life a car maintenance experience didn't turn into a "you need this and this and this" experience. Quite lovely. My check engine light was on (even though I had dutifully changed the gas cap months ago) and they cleared the code for me for no charge. I'm not saying that I hope something goes wrong with my car so I can go back soon, but My Dad's is my place for automotive care from now on. read more

Called around for an oil change because I didn't want to pay a lot at the dealership. My Dad's quoted a great price. I asked if I needed to make an appointment, they said come on down. Looking for a place to do my oil change, I checked Yelp to find this place! I'm not very knowledgeable in the auto world, but I wanted to make sure I get my car checked without getting jipped. Coming here was a nice experience. I went here with no appointment 30 minutes to closing time, and they helped me right away. I was given the breakdown of my service as well as a thorough explanation, which I appreciated very much. Prices were very reasonable compared to going to the dealership. In 15 minutes, I was able to get my car checked and oil changed! Overall, I was very happy with my experience here. This auto shop is great. One of my headlights wasn't working and it turned out to be an issue with the fuse. They ran a diagnostic check to find out what was wrong, and were able to get it fixed pretty quickly. The guys were friendly, and I had a decent cup of coffee while waiting too. I bought a used car a few months back and wanted a noise checked out. It turned out to be just a little extra brake noise, and no repair needed, so they sent me on my way with no charge. Just got back from My Dad's, and I like it!!! Went in yesterday to get an estimate on brake work, and after 10 min, I was given two estimates, as two options were presented and explained to me. I was also shown exactly what was wrong with the brakes. Decided to let them do the work, would've been crazy not to after the estimate they gave, and came in at 8am. By 8:25, I was leaving. Really appreciated the customer service and the story of the shop - how they were a Midas franchise, but after disagreements with Midas, decided to go out on their own. I've been to this place twice now and I can't say how much I really appreciate their honest service. Both times I thought I needed more done because my Honda dealer told me I needed it done and both times they brought me out the part to show me I did not need it done. I get my oil changed here and they are quick, efficient and most of all do not try to o we sell me. Especially because I'm a woman and they might be able to try. I thought I needed a new air filter which was 99 at the dealer, so I went there to see and they pulled out the air filter to show me it was fine. They also taught me an important lesson... to look in the handbook and see what Honda recommends ( mile and time wise) because the dealers just want to make more money and the change parts a lot sooner than the actual manufacturer is even recommending. Heard the "brake noise" you never want to hear. Came to My Dad's for free break evaluation. The people are so nice, they took me to see my breaks, pads and rotors. Not good! They also showed me an axle innerboot that was ripped and grease was leaking. The price to replace pads (which by the way have a lifetime warranty, you only pay for new pads) resurface rotors, and replace innerboot was very competitve and reasonable. We have taken our cars here for many a service and they stand by their work and are very professional. read more

First time getting an oil change here and I am satisfied with their work. Went in and got out in about 20 mins (might be because it was a weekday). I wanted to get the maintenance package with the oil change/tire rotation, but they recommended not to rotate the tires due to too much wear. They seem honest and made sure I only got billed for the oil change. I also try to support local businesses and if that matters to you, I would recommend getting your car serviced here. read more

Don't expect a warm welcome. When I first went to My Dad's I simply asked if they would check my breaks while they did my oil change and how much they would charge. The guy behind the desk pointed at the sign painted on the outside of the window that said free break checks.. I didn't see it obviously or I wouldn't have asked. I thought I caught him on a bad day so I gave them another try. I came in for an oil change before 5pm and there were no cars in the bay and he turned me down and said he didn't have time since they closing at 5:30. He was extremely rude with bad vibes. The only place I've been to so far where they truly only recommend things for your car that you actually need, very honest way of doing business here. Prices for oil change and checkups are good and I am usually in and out of there very quick even without an appointment. Would def. recommend this place to friends and family.
