If you read my previous reviews, you'd know I love good dosas and simply hate it when restaurants spoil this simple yet amazing south Indian dish in the name of creativity, ruining the basic authenticity. So we went here after a trip to the Ripley's Aquarium and harborfront with my mum and better half. We were starving after all the walking and mom prefers veg, and also it was closest Indian food place to where we were. If you read my previous review, having visited a place with a similar name, I had very little hopes. But hey, why let one outlet ruin everybody's game. So we went in, and the inside is quite comfy with small tables with good lighting. I wished the AC were a bit cooler with the heatwave over ontario but it wasn't too bad either We walked over towards the cashier station and gazed through the menu. They had a lot of options, but we finally settled on: - Mysore Masala Dosa - Pav Bhaji Dosa 10 mins later our name was announced bybthe Cashier and we got our 2 Dosas Mysore Masala Dosa: First impression, the size of the dosa was quite big and from the outside browning, we could make out it was crisp. The dosa came along with Sambhar, peanut-coconut chutney and tomato spicy chutney. Note: Chuteys and Sambhar play a major role when it comes to Dosa Dish. Get them wrong, and they can spoil the entire dish. The dosa was hot and crispy to touch. Inside was the hot potato masala and the dosa had a decent layer of red Mysore chutney on it. We took a bite and were amazed. It had the authenticity of taste and crispness that a dosa should have. The potato masala was nicely spiced and with the layer of mysore chutney and sambhar , it was perfect. Coming to Sambhar, it was warm and hearty. A bit sweet but quite flavorful. The Chutneys , especially the peanut chutney was quite good. The other Coconut Chutney was ok ok.. I have tasted better. But my Fav was the Tomato Chutney. It had a nice spicy kick to it. We all agreed it was a nearly perfect dosa dish. Pav Bhaji Dosa: Now to be honest, I don't like to order such dosas, which are basically 2 dishes in one mashed together. Often it is a gimmic and it ends up ruining both the dishes. But hey, you always listen to your better half, right? First impressions, it looked nice, same as the previous dosa and was served with the same assortments of chutneys. The inside, the Pav Bhaji (which is a Mumbai delicacy) looked and smelled quite good. Now came the time to test. First bite : not too bad. Second bite: decent. Thirst bite: This is actually quite good though not perfect. It was suprisingly good that shattered my prejudices. We had though of ordering more but 2 Dosas made us full. Also while having our food, a gentleman on the next table in the corner looked to be interviewing for jobs. When we had finished, I approached as I felt he was from the establishment and found out that the guy was Mr. Karthi Kumar, co-owner of the place. We complimented him on the food and after a few minutes of discussion found out that this was their corporate office, and that they are opening a Sandwich/Refreshments place near the harborfront. The guy was a gentleman and after exchanging pleasantries and ideas, we left the place truly surprised in a good way and satisfied. To foodies: Must visit. One of the few Dosa places that left me satisfied with their taste and authenticity. Try the Pav Bhaji Dosa, you'll like it. Also their Sambhar is wonderful, along with chutneys..My fav being the Tomato Spicy chutney To Management: Thanks for giving Dosas the respect they deserve. Your Chutneys are great. I wish the coconut chutney had some more of that green chilli flavor to them. That said, your service and food is good and it was a great experience for us all. I hope your other establishments can follow in your footsteps and provide the same quality and service as this one. Because, in the end, one bad place can ruin the entire brand. We came here on a 75 degree Friday evening. The door was propped open so it was pretty stuffy inside. We ordered the chicken tikka masala dosa and the shrimp Hakka chili dosa. The chicken tikki dosa was soooo good. Very flavorful with chunks of tender chicken. The dosas look MASSIVE when they first come out but it's very light and one person can easily eat a whole one. The shrimp Hakka was just okay. Lacked flavor and was more on the bland side. Dosas were served up pretty quickly. We were disappointed they were out of lamb. The food was hit or miss but the place was kinda dirty. The tables were sticky and unclean. There were multiple flies everywhere.. And their bathroom was out of order. read more

Open late. Very close to where I live, so I have eaten from here numerous times. Anytime you go back to a place more than once, they are doing something right. My Roti and My Dosa are both available here. For a fast food style restaurant they deliver a tasty and flavourful meal. They have not sacrificed too heavily on authenticity to make it fast food and accessible to the non-indian market. The reassuring factor is that I always see other brown people picking up food from here, so that's a seal of approval. The kicker is that it is also quite fairly priced, so it is hard not to keep going back. read more

Had the butter chicken roti and lamb biryani. Both were good, especially the butter chicken roti, have to admit I am craving another serving of it. I'd recommend My Dosa Place for sure. read more

I decided to try this place and ordered the Masala Dosa combo through Ritual with a side of papadum...my order came to $16.84....and for that price I expect for at least everything in the combo to come...however the "tiny bit of dessert" was not there when I unpacked my meal at home. Other than the missing dessert, the meal as a whole was a huge rip off and very poor value and of mediocre taste...definitely will not satisfy a craving for savoury Indian food. Considering how cheap the ingredients are (potatoes, lentils and dosa mix) I would expect a decent to hearty portion....instead the portion was very small...the lentil soup came in a dipping sauce cup and the Dosa itself may have included half a potato and the rest was just the Dosa wrap...the potato itself was flavourless without the chutneys. The papadum that I paid 2.95 extra for was an even bigger rip off...and never have I seen rainbow coloured papadum before...$3.00 for puffed food colouring is rather disappointing. Was really excited to try this place because of the convenient location but definitely won't be back....I rather make the trek to Banjara at Christie Pitts or Lakshmi Dosa in Mississauga. read more

Quite a nice dosa place! Tasty/fresh, clean, open late - what more can you ask for? Loved the Mysore masala dosa - it's like a thin savory crepe with spicy potatoes and chutney sauces. Enjoyed the mango lassi drink as well. Will return and look forward to trying many more menu items! read more

We stopped in for a very early dinner because we skipped lunch. Not having been here before, I told them what we like and the staff recommended one chicken roti, one veggie roti and one tofu/kale dosa. The chef, Abil, recommended the vindaloo sauce for the chicken roti but my wife doesn't like it that spicy. So, he whipped up a milder version and let her taste it first. She gave it a thumbs up and we LOVED the three dishes, Abil's creativity and the staff's hospitality. They even threw in a couple of gulab jamuns for dessert. Yummm! Thanks, Dosa Place. Fun meal. First time in Toronto, walked from Billy Bishop airport, looking for a dosa. And My Dosa Place made my evening!! The lady at the counter, Gurvinder, was very warm and offered me extra sambhar and chutney if I wanted. Also handed a gulab jamun when I asked for dessert and wouldn't let me pay for it! Good service, BAD food! I really wanted to love the food, but it was terrible. The dosa should be either soft or crispy, but it was dry and leathery, and also something funny about the batter they use. How hard it is to make fresh chutney, instead it's worse than the store bought frozen ones. Tomato chutney tastes like ketchup. Very disappointed! read more

I ordered the Mysore masala dosa. It was bland and had absolutely no taste. The sambar comes in a small cup and the quantity is the least amount of sambar you would have ever been served with a dosa. The chutneys are frozen (don't know for how many days) but have no taste at all. All you taste is something very cold. The Mysore paste is equally tasteless and I had a hard time figuring out what they put on the dosa that would look similar but have no taste. Would definitely recommend avoiding this place if you would like fresh and/or tasty food. read more

I'm currently staying at the hotel right across this store and walked over with my family to grab some food right now as we were hungry. I walked into the washroom to wash my hands and I see the girl working there scrubbing the toilets then walks out and with the SAME GLOVES and she starts to handle all the food, grab lemons and throw them in the water for people to drink. We all ran out disgusted and I'm never walking back in there and I'll be sure to tell everyone how unhygienic that store is. read more

I ordered take out multiple times- great initially but the last 4 times they've served old idli/dosa filling- you can actually smell the potato going bad- these orders were placed early morning so my guess is they sent me leftovers. Very disappointed and feel ripped off. Gave them too many chances just cuz not alot of places are open early. Do they really think customers don't notice bad food? Geez read more
