Daniel was assigned by a home warranty company to assess and repair the salt system for the pool at my newly purchased home when my regular pool maintenance technician advised me that the system was failing. It took him over a week to make a first visit to my home, and in the meantime he wanted me to begin taking apart the system to take parts somewhere for testing. When I indicated that I didn't know how to do that and that it wasn't my job to do so, he became uncooperative and blamed the problems on me, saying that he would advise the warranty company to deny the claim. When he did not show up on the day he was scheduled to come, I called him. He told me he "forgot" to contact me, and then came over in the evening, at which point he said he didn't have the parts to do the repairs for which he had already gotten authorization. He left trash and debris in my yard, and the original issue with the system has not even been addressed. In his reply I expect him to say that he can't assess the system because the water is not balanced. That's why I sought out his services in the first place, so it looks like he's just trying to collect payment without doing any work. I'm reporting him to the home warranty company for insurance fraud. Dishonesty and lack of integrity doesn't sit well with me. read more

I was referred to "My Ds Pools" by John at Leslie Pool Supplies on H St. (John's referral is a great endorsement in itself.) I was having problems with my solar system: The error message on the solar panel read: "Pump alarm-solar paused,." After multiple frustrating and long calls to Pentair, I should replace it. Unfortunately, it would cost from $700-1500 installed depending on various features. Doug of My Ds Pool came out the day after I called for assistance. He listened to my concerns and needs (warm water for my disabled husband) and talked me through options and then suggested the best solution of all that would not cost me a cent! That is, all I wanted was the solar to work (along with the pump starting and stopping on schedule, which it was already doing) so Doug disconnected a few things. And now my solar is working and if I want to know the water temp, I stick in a thermometer. (Eventually I will replace the solar system, but it will be will I can afford the higher end devices.) Doug also tested my salt and checked my salt solenoid. And then he only charged me a reasonable "visit" fee. Now you can see why I rated "My Ds" 5 stars. I could have been misled into buying an expensive system that I didn't need right now. So, Doug's honesty on top of the other things he did for me earned every one of those 5 stars! One more thing: I will definitely use them when I start my summer pool cleaning service. read more

We have had a great 3 year service run with this company however we started to notice that our pump suddenly made loud noises. D's Pools came to check out our pump at our next service date and informed us that the motor was giving out. Not suprisingly, we were told we would eventually need a new pump. Then after roughly a month of dealing with the pump motor issues, a "techician" came to service our pool per our weekly agreement. The "technician" informed us that he turned off our pump because of the loud noises but he added chlorine to the pool (maybe to compensate for the stagnant water?). Two days later we realize nothing is powering on - not the pump timer, not the solar panel, not the outdoor pool lights, and not the indoor pool lights. We call Daniel to inform him that nothing is working and he confesses that the "technician" that turned off our pump was his father. After a very lengthy conversation and an attempt to charge us $80 to do a service call, I ask Daniel if he could just send the same "technician" back to our house to physically show me how he turned off our pump. Daniel insisted that he would make the service call himself since the other "technician" isn't qualified to discuss anything related to the pool. I reiterate to Daniel, who has cut me off mid-sentence several times now, that I did not need to talk to the "technician" but simply wanted him to demonstrate how he turned off my pump since he was the one that physically did it. Again, Daniel refused. He ended our conversation as I was mid-sentence saying he would send me an email and part ways. I now have a pool pump that mysteriously doesn't work and contempt for this business that chose not to be open minded and provide simple customer service possibly to defend a relative that may have been unqualified to service our pool in the first place. read more

I recommend these guys for any needs. Daniel has done a variety of things for us and done a solid job. Specifically, our heater - I found him after shopping for a few quotes. Daniel bid what I asked for but also offered a better solution for our needs and was competitive with the other bids. He was helpful after the installation to explain how it worked with the rest of the system. Anytime he's been here, he's taken time to explain the situation and answer all of our questions. He's offered a lot of helpful advice for general maintenance and equipment for me being a DIYer. That said, I haven't used him for weekly service, but if I go that route, I won't hesitate to call him. He has a lot of options for that and is flexible to meet different needs. If you do your own water testing/balancing, you should get chlorine and muriatic acid from his website store which seem to be top quality and at as good of a price as you'll find. read more

Horrible service. They're dishonest and don't own up to their mistakes like when they broke a piece of my filter and claimed it was already broken when they tried to put it back together. How else would it have been broken if they were the only ones who put their hands on it previously? Then he claimed to have gotten a replacement for the broken part from the pool filter company for free and that he would give it to me but I never did see that new part and I never heard from them again. I was referred to My D's pool from a family member and Daniel came right away and took the time to explain and answer our questions about pool maintenance. He would always come as scheduled. AMAZING! All I have to say, hands down Daniel of My D's Pool Service and Supply is the best pool service company I have ever used! Each year when I open my pool, I usually hire a pool company to clean the filter and put it back together. This year I decided I'd do it on my own because of some of the bad service I have had over the years. To make a long story short, I had put it back together wrong ad wasn't sure if the the motor was broken, working or I just didn't properly assemble the filter. Anyway, Daniel from My D's Pools came in a timely manner, was polite, precise, gave me a great price and HONEST! Any pool guy could have told me my pump was bad and sold me a new one, but Daniel just put the filter back together (correctly), told me exactly what to do and how to do it and even gave me some awesome advice on taking care of the pool. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, but mentioned his business model offering pool service and mobile pool chemical delivery. He talked a little bit about a high efficiency pump that I probably do need, due to energy conservation and that he supplies chemicals and has a local San Diego County mobile pool chemical delivery at the same price I'm paying online! His full service option is the best price I have seen in all of San Diego County! I live in Chula Vista near Eastlake, but have friends that have pools in La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, El Cajon,La Mesa, Escondido etc...
