a cake and cupcakes on a table

We recently had our wedding cutting cake and cupcakes made by Liza and they were amazing. When we met with her we explained our beach theme and hopes for a cake. What she came up with was so much better then what we envisioned. She's a honest good person who followed through with everything discussed. We will highly recommend her to anyone we know in the area.

Film Reel Cake - Chocolate Cake w/ Raspberry & Salted Caramel Buttercream Filling - Yum!

The owner Liza really came through for me last minute for my fiance's 30th birthday Film Reel cake, as the baker who was supposed to create his custom cake bailed on me last minute. I really appreciated her communication and attention to detail, as she was always responsive and made sure to go over every aspect of the cake I desired. Not only was her rate very reasonable but she also aided me in my time crunch by delivering, and ON TIME, during busy downtown San Francisco 5pm traffic time, which was a huge help and much appreciated! The film reel cake looked exactly as discussed, and tasted even better (if you haven't already tried a Chocolate Cake w/ Raspberry & Salted Caramel Buttercream Filling, you have NOT lived, & NEED to asap!!). Thank you so much Liza, we will be back very soon!!

Liza was very professional and very talented. She will walk you through from the style of your desired cake, size, color, toppers, etc. just name it. She can really make it possible! My daughter will really love her cake and cupcakes! Thank you for making it possible! Definitely will recommend this to friends and loved ones.

My birthday cake which was made to look like a burger. Amazing!

My friend surprised me with a birthday cake (which I later found out was from My Favorite Bite) and it was honestly the BEST birthday cake I've ever had! I'm obsessed with burgers, so my friend found this place on Yelp and they were able to make this custom cake on such short notice and they even delivered the cake to my friends house! When the cake was brought out to me, I was so excited! I've never had a birthday cake that looked like a burger before. And this cake was EPIC. The detail on the cake was outstanding...from making it look like double burger patties, to the sesame seeds, lettuce & cheese! It was so delicate and perfect looking that I didn't want to touch it! We finally cut into the cake, and the inside was funfetti (also my favorite)! The cake was moist, the frosting was light and sweet. So so good! Seriously the best birthday cake I've ever had!

    Amazing bday cake!

I would give 10 stars if this were an option! Liza and her cakes are awesome! I had a super last minute request to provide a cake to a local legend and celebrity (Willie Mays) for his 90th birthday. I was in a panic trying to find someone who could create a one of kind cake on such short notice and using our chocolate (I work for Ghirardelli Chocolate Company). I found Liza right away and she was as excited as we were to be apart of this special project. The whole process was easy, we gave some ideas on the look and feel we were going for and she sketched a beautiful design that was beyond our expectations! She was super friendly and had great communication along the way. As you can see the cake turned out amazing and wowed everyone who saw it!! On top of that everyone thought the cake was delicious, tasty and moist, each layer was a different flavor highlighting variations of chocolate and everything was executed to perfection. Liza will be my go-to for all my future cakes and baked good needs!

I have a very bad experience working with My Favorite Bite. I wanted to order a cake for a friend's birthday and the time was limited. At the beginning, I was very happy that they can make me a cake at such a short time. The mistake is we misunderstood each other by text message. I wanted a plain white cake with gold-edge flowers on top, and gold strips on the side. And then Liza showed me another picture that I don't like the flowers on top. Since I thought everything was set, I paid $226 for the cake (1 plastic toper included). What I got was a plain white cake with gold strip and plastic topper. Where are my flowers? She apologized for the miscommunication, she thought I didn't want the flowers, but I explained that I didn't like the flowers on the picture she showed me, not the first picture. So far, I think it's the text messages cause her misunderstood me. BUT, how can you give me an almost plain white cake and charge me for $200? So I told her that it's not what I expected and would like to have a refund for the flower part. I thought about asking for the full refund, but since I've agreed on communicating by text which caused the miscommunication, I'm taking my part and want her to take her part of this. After a few conversations, she refused to refund the flower part and just stopped replying me. So this is it. BYE!

I found My Favorite Bite thru Yelp when I found out my "go-to" cake person had moved too far for me to make the trip. I sent Liza an email with my thoughts, ideas and photos of what I had in mind. That same day she got back to me with some options that I may want to consider. I took her up on her suggestion and I'm glad I did. My son is a Mortal Kombat fan and his fave flavors are RedVelvet and Chocolate and was hoping Liza would be able to accommodate that, which didn't seem like a problem to her. She was very helpful and considered my vision to make it perfect. The cake was delish. Very moist and delicate. The redvelvet was a bit rich for my taste (but thats just me) bc my guests LOVED it. My guests asked for Liza's info so they can use her for their events. I knocked off a star solely bc there was a hiccup on time management. Im a very prompt, on time person. Since Liza works out of her home, we went to her location and stayed in the car for about 45mins bc she was putting on the final touches to the cake. But honestly, with the outcome and how beautiful the cake turned out and how delicious it was it was definitely worth the wait. I will definitely keep My Favorite Bite on speed dial for any event I hold in the future. Liza was very sweet and apologetic when she came out to deliver the cake to my car.

Just had my husband's surprise bday cake delivered to his job. He lovvved it, and said it tasted delicious too. Liza did an amazing job!!!

If you're looking for a custom cake that won't blow your budget, this might be a great option. More cost competitive than others in the Bay area. Quick response via email and phone. If you pick a theme, they'll send you different options for decoration with fees. Delivery in the Bay area is an additional $15 and pick ups are available in the Daly City location. The Monty Phython cake ordered was decorated beautifully and tasted amazing, moist and decadent in all the right ways.

a birthday cake for a sports fan

It's been a long Covid and we wanted to celebrate our son's 10th birthday properly. I sent pictures of a two "sports cake" as an inspiration and we couldn't have been more thrilled!! Thanks for surprising my son with such an awesome cake! The best cake and a great price-even better.

I live in southern California and trying to throw a surprise birthday dinner for your boyfriend who lives in Oakland can be a bit challenging. Luckily, I found My Favorite Bite through yelp. I spoke with Liza 7 days before the event and placed my order along with an ideal picture of the cake. Liza was very responsive and professional which made me feel at ease. On the day of the event Liza sent me a picture of the cake which was beyond my expectations. My boyfriends face LIT UP LIKE A LIGHT when the Arsenal Jersey cake was presented at the dinner table. We received so many compliments about how great the cake looked and tasted. THANK YOU SO MUCH LIZA! You made my boyfriends birthday just that much special :-)

The cake was perfect! Everyone at the party said that not only was it so cute but it was also sooo delicious. Liza was so easy to work with. Definitely recommend !

My daughter's Birthday cake. Details in my review.

I am incredibly DISAPPOINTED at the lack of professionalism, customer service and quality of cake My Favorite Bite made for my daughter's birthday. (1) Cake was delivered 2 hours late, which was five minutes before the party ended. (2) I called Liza during the two hours for a status, and the only response I received was an "I'm driving" text. No phone call or estimated time of when she'd arrive. (3) The cake was leaning, and began to sink once we started cutting into it. When I followed up with Liza about it, she claimed that it was intended to be "topsy turvy," which was not only poorly executed, but not what I ordered. (4) The "Happy Birthday..." inscription was completely missing from the cake. (5) The cake topper was broken. I followed up with Liza after the party, requesting a partial refund given the poor service I had received. After multiple emails, she finally replied to me, confirming that she would grant me the partial refund, but needed my credit card information again. I left her a voicemail with my information and asked her to contact me if she needed additional info to process the refund. Never heard back. After three weeks of emails, text messages and phone calls, she has been MIA and not honored the refund that she agreed to grant me. I regret choosing My Favorite Bite to make my daughter's birthday cake. Lesson learned.

Pacman cake and ghost cupcakes. Cake was in incredible dulce de leche with raspberry cream filling. AMAZING!

I came by on a Friday around 11 am and it was so hard to find parking. The line was only formed because the bakery is relatively small and doesn't have a lot of wiggle room so they only let in one party at a time. There aren't any sit-down tables or chairs so this is a grab and enjoy somewhere else. Pastry: Kouign-amann (8.4/10): Oh this was yummy. I love a good kouign amann and Arsicault satisfied my sweet tooth. It was a little too sweet but had a good outer layer crunch and fluffy interior. Chocolate Almond Croissant (7.8/10): This one was amazing! I will say that this one is definitely on the sweeter side but it was still delicious. It's a pretty big croissant with a good crunch but not a lot of flaking :( I did really enjoy the almond paste that was smothered on the inside. My boyfriend really enjoyed this croissant and wouldn't stop talking about it for a few hours.

We waited about an hour on a Friday morning. On to the baked goods, it was some of the best bakery goods I've tried ever. Everything was delicious in every way. My favorite had to be the coffee cake, the elote corn, and the Lorraine. Wow, so damn good. I know their menu changes, but it's a must try as their base dough for all their items are PERFECT. Each bite is amazing with such a crunch. Their corn latte was also super delicious.

The namesake Pistachio Cardamom croissant was excellent for a filled croissant. It had excellent layers and the cream was just enough to add a lusciousness to each bite that wasn't too heavy. The madame lorraine was my other favorite. It was meaty and rich with the soft baked runny yolk and the light touch of rosemary was just enough to accentuate the bite. The not as good...a standard butter croissant. Maybe we got a dud but there was a serious lack of layers in ours and it wasn't as crisp or as buttery as I like. The elote corn croquiche filling was also quite salty which was a shame because the pastry layer was pretty good. I still have two more pastries to try but given the weight and the mixed bag, I definitely expected a lot more from Butter & Crumble. Pro tip: get a butter croissant at Arsicault, walk to B Patisserie and get a kouign amann. You'll have both before the line moves here.

I heard kind of a grunt, kind of like, you know how Asian people will grunt sometimes instead of speaking (my Japanese grandmother and mother do this, so I picked up on it...)... so when I heard the grunt, I said, "Oh, are you ready to take our order?" And she looked at us and nodded as if we were an inconvenience to her. Aaaahhhh yes.... this is the "Gen Z stare". No common decency of doing business with humans, just her staring at a screen and expecting us to telepathically know she was ready to take our order. Thankfully I have Asian heritage, because my friend would have probably died waiting there for the gal to say something or make eye contact. So we order 5 pastries, a bag of vanilla butter mochi, and 2 drinks which came out to nearly $60, which is fine... but then upon payment to ask for a 20% tip? Um... excuse me? Grunts and stares does not a good tip make, my dears. We left $4 to cover the 2 drinks being made and for the "service". If she had offered us common decency, we would have tipped more. I'm not asking for a fake smile - just to be acknowledged as a customer who is patronizing a business. My friend got the honeycomb toffee latte. While other people got sizeable chunks of honeycomb atop their drink, he got literal dust. He asked if that was the honeycomb, and they confirmed. Wow - they really did hate us! Is it because we only tipped $4? We may never know. The einspander coffee was good. The pastries were overall, good but more like "okay". The hojicha puff filling was runny and literally dumped out of the hole it was piped in to. We sat at a table outside of the shop, so it's not like we traveled with the pastry and it got hot or something. The orange chocolate bun was very good. I am not familiar with Korean, so please forgive me... but the croissant square with mochi and kinako could have been good, but the kinako cemented to the roof of my mouth when I would take a bite. Then when I folded it so the cementing wouldn't happen, the flavor was just lost. I thought the chewy mochi with the crunchy pastry would be great, but it wasn't. I absolutely adore kinako, but it just didn't work. I'll stick to regular omochi with kinako. We got the two Korean beef pastries - the croissant version and the bun version. The bun was great even though the filling was skimpy. The croissant pastry was okay, but the bun was better. Would I come back? Probably not, to be honest.
