Refreshing drinks with real fruit juices and friendly and caring service that's beyond expectations. We told the lady that we can't have drinks that are too sweet, she was very willing to make adjustments by adding more tea since the sweetness was hard to control with real fruit juices. Only reason I didn't give a 5-star was because the bobas were slightly hard. Other toppings we had were excellent. We walked pretty far away before we discovered this, I'm pretty confident that if we found it earlier, the lady would have done something for us. Omg this is the cutest establishment! I'm on a Açai kick and I went to my usual spot and it just wasn't up to par anymore. I heard about my friends cafe and decided to stop by! First off, the employees are so kind and they were kind enough to let me try the mango base and it was really great! I wanted to try all the bases, so they were kind enough to give me a little bit of all of them. The fruits were super fresh, the bases were icey cold and the toppings were unlimited. Probably one of the best Açai bowls I've ever had . I decided to order a peach green tea light sweet and that was also really good! This is a nice neighborhood spot that always has a line! Their açaí is flavorful and love the other options like Blu majik and pitaya: they have a range of options to choose from or a make your own. I went with an acai bowl, and I liked how fresh it tasted--bonus points for the base not being overly sweet like at other spots. I also got the Extreme Green juice, which was surprisingly good, though I'll admit it's probably an acquired taste for some. Overall, it's a solid spot to swing by post-hike. Friends Cafe is a super adorable little shop that serves acai bowls inspired by the cast of Friends along with fresh juices, elixirs, and boba drinks. Today, my husband and I shared The ever so popular Monica: a Nutella coconut and strawberry acai bowl with banana, and my husband opted for the Joey: Strawberries, Banana, Blueberry, with a coconut smoothie base, overnight oats, and almond butter. Just like Joey would have, this one has everything you could ever want to eat all at once. Both bowls were delicious, and I really favored the Joey overall. The fruit was ripe, the smoothie bases were not icy but very flavorful, and the toppings were great. One thing I was a little surprise was that my Monica bowl was not filled to the top the same way my husband's Joey bowl was. We just assumed it was due to the amount of ingredients in his bowl, but overall, the Monica bowl felt like it was definitely missing granola or something else to give it a real acai bowl bite. According to the menu, they ask for no customizations on these types of bowls. They do have an option for a build your own bowl, which we will probably try out next time. We loved the flavors, and the service was great. There is outdoor seating and a walk-up window, just FYI. Parking is street parking, but you can usually find a spot around the corner without too much trouble. read more

Love the boba teas. Only issue is the surcharge added if you ask for easy ice, or no ice. If you allow the ice to melt, as is quite likely on a warm day, the drink becomes quite tasteless halfway through. So asking for no ice shouldn't require a surcharge. Wanted to try out a new acai place in the area, my wife suggested this place, which sounded fun. Love the theme of Friend and the names. Short wait, only one couple in front of us. The cashier was friendly and attentive, informed me of the seasonal fruit of my "Joey Bowl." The almond butter looked watery and not very much. Didn't like the inconsistency of the amount of acai in both our bowl, she got like two third of her cup and I dot like one quarter. My wife's bowl was also not done right, didn't have cacao nibs on top or bowl even filled to the top with fruits or toppings. I got all the toppings minus gogi berries which was the perfect amount of crunch + fruit. There are a few things that cost extra including peanut butter, almond butter, and chia seed pudding which is a bit of a bummer. I added 1 $0.75 topping so the total was $12.50. I got the 16oz bowl ($11.50) with all toppings and added honey. I waited about 15mins for my order to come out, but it was well worth the wait. It was refreshing, delicious and I could've ordered another bowl! Honestly, I'd prefer spots where you can see the toppings and they make it in front of you (like Roots + Rye) but this was just something different. I was also visually drawn to the Twisted Tiger boba ($6) - I had to go for it! The flavor was fine, but I was a bit disappointed in the boba. Some were stuck together and it was a bit too hard. It'd been a very long afternoon with my kids enjoying the Christmas decor and walking the village. My oldest was hyped up on sugar but I needed a snack myself. As I was looking at the menu she was so excited at the shop's Santa mailbox. My baby was crying and for a split second I was looking down at her then noticed my oldest was innocently trying to see if the bottom of the fake mailbox opened. We visited Sierra Madre, a lovely small town, on Sunday morning for a stroll. My wife wanted an açaí bowl for breakfast, so we checked Yelp and found My Friends Cafe nearby. She ordered an açaí bowl, and I ordered avocado toast at the kiosk. Shortly after, I was informed that my order couldn't be fulfilled because their sourdough shipment hadn't arrived that morning. The staff was incredibly apologetic and offered either a complimentary açaí bowl-- which actually costs more than the toast-- or a full refund. I wasn't in the mood for an açaí bowl, so I opted for the refund. To my surprise, a short while after, Rocky (the "part-time" shop owner) came out of the store, found us sitting outside near Starbucks, and handed me a to-go box with avocado toast made using their tasting bread. I truly appreciated her kindness and effort in going above and beyond to make my day feel special.
