    Thai fried rice
    Joyce L.

5 stars for service & decor 2.5~3 stars for the diluted/Americanized Thai food 1. Fried Rice (vegan) 2. Green curry (vegan) 3. Pad See yew (vegetarian + egg) 4. Fried tofu 5. Roti The service and decor here were awesome. The lady who took our order was really friendly and smiley. She really made us feel welcome. Perhaps I should temper my expectations since I live in an area with really great Asian food, so expecting Fairfax to have authentic Thai food might be a stretch? For the first 3 items we ordered, they were beautifully presented and made with fresh ingredients. However, they lacked so many elements that you'd expect from Thai food. There wasn't any lemongrass or any of that tangy sweetness you would find in both curry and the noodle dishes. The fried rice also lacked the powerful thai basil flavor that you'd expect. These 3 dishes all fell so short in flavor. I'm having a hard time saying this because the dishes were so beautifully made, with the brightest and most lovely veg... the spices and seasonings were just lacking. Luckily the fried tofu and roti were pretty standard. Actually the tofu had a really nice and light crust on it which held its crisp when they cooled. The roti was nice & flaky but again the sauces were a bit lacking. Would I personally seek out this place again? Probably not. It was a nice dining experience though, so I wouldn't be adverse to coming here for a group thing if others wanted to eat here.

A lovely stop in town. The staff are all so sweet and the service is impeccable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor truly immerses you while you have epic food experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the Fresh Rolls, the Healthy Bowl, Mango Sticky Rice and a Thai Iced Tea. 10/10 will be back.

Corn fritters, salad roll and chicken spring rolls (about half left of each)

My Thai is the 3rd My Thai restaurant in the area -- the other two being in San Rafael and Mill Valley. They took over the old Siam Lotus Thai restaurant earlier this year. Their menu is available here: https://mythairestaurant.getbento.com/online-ordering/my-thai-restaurant/menu The service was pleasant and efficient late on a Friday night. We had the fresh salad roll, the fried chicken spring roll and the corn fritters for appetizers. The fresh salad roll was vegetarian, and was different than I've had in the past. It was quite large, with big pieces of lettuce in it, wrapped in a fresh spring roll. No noodles in it. It came with a sweet/tart dipping sauce and a peanut sauce. The chicken roll had a fairly thick wrapper containing something that sort of reminded me of a chicken paste, and the same dipping sauce. Not bad but not really my style, but I would try a different spring roll next time. I love corn fritters, and these were pretty good. For dinner we shared the pad thai chicken, crab fried rice and drunken noodles with shrimp. Everything was served in these cute little metal dishes that did a great job keeping the food warm. The pad thai was pretty tasty, thought the thin pieces of chicken were a bit dry. I wouldn't normally order fried rice at most thai restaurants, by my wife wanted it. It was OK. I ordered the shrimp drunken noodles extra spicy. It wasn't really spicy at all. The noodles seemed a bit over worked and had kind of broken up more than I would have liked. Sometimes Thai restaurants will serve little bowls of condiments like vinegar/sugar/fish sauce/fish sauce with chilis. I asked for this on the side and they sort of asked what I wanted in it -- they brought back a little bowl of chilis with fish sauce and a few pieces of lime. That was a big help for the flavor and spice level I thought was lacking. All in all though, I enjoyed the meal.

If you value elegant but not pretentious wit and atmosphere - this is the place for you! Second - the service is fantastic. Once you enter the place, we were greeted with a welcoming energy and our server was absolutely lovely - super attentive but not "on you all the time". Just right. And lastly - of course - the food is just outstanding! All the Thai classics you wish for but presented in a modern way. Everything we had (we shared an appetizer player and a couple more dishes) was so flavorful, the dips were to die for (I asked for extra to take home with me!). Will I be back! Yes!

My husband and I arrived on a Saturday in the late afternoon and there was already a wait for walk-ins. We were impressed with the hostess who greeted us at the door. She did a great job letting us know how long the wait would be. We felt that she cared about what she did and wanted to make sure our first impression was a good one. When the wait would have possibly gone longer than the 15-20 that she quoted, she made sure to let us know and why. We felt as if we personally mattered and were not just covers needing to be sat. She offered to get us drinks and gave us menus to peruse while we waited. The kitchen was going at full throttle. Togo orders were flying out the door and more were lining up. Once seated, though friendly, service was not as impressionable as the hostess. We had asked her to stagger the dishes a bit but the three dishes came out all at once. The table was small. We understand that they were busy but that did affect our experience. The Thai Iced Tea was refreshing. We also had Fire Cook Beef, Pad See Ew Noodles, Spicy String Beans and a Side of Steam White Rice. Nice portions. Dishes were nicely spiced so much so that we forgot to ask for a spice rack. We ordered a lot so we could enjoy leftovers -- and the next day, we sure did! Everyone was nice and overall it was a nice meal. We look forward to returning when we are back in the area.

We ordered the Pun Khao Poon platter (lettuce wraps) with pork springrolls, pad thai with chicken, and the mango salad. The portions were very generous. The mango salad was the highlight of the meal, followed by the lettuce wraps. The dressing in the mango salad had just the right combination of sweet and tangy. We loved the addition of mint for the wraps, but I personally don't care for perilla leaves. The fish sauce accompanying the wraps was delicious and was also great over the pad thai, which was a bit on the bland side without it. Service was a bit less than perfect. When one diner asked for water, only her glass was refilled when another glass was obviously in need also; minor overlook, though. The one thing that was a bit disturbing was the noise level. It was extremely loud, so it was really difficult to hear each other talk. It didn't help that the party at the next table had a woman who cackled loudly when she laughed. It was a relief to step outside after we ate. Not sure what can be done to help with this, but it did make dining there not as pleasant as it could be. Even with this, I'd definitely return if I was in the area.

The restaurant doesn't allow modifications, which was one reason we waited until now to try, since both of us have food allergies. We selected the miso soup (my husband said it was difficult and he liked it, but has had better), the seaweed salad (I loved it-clean and not dripping with dressing), four types of sashimi (all very flavorful and fresh), and two rolls (ocean, and soft shell crab). The soft shell crab was delicious and the ocean was very good. The outside patio will be our next destination. Everyone was very nice and friendly. Service by main waiter was great as always. Getting our food was very slow and left some with ordered items and others of us waiting 20+ min (I expect timing differences in sushi restaurants but not to this extent) Sushi (tuna only) and also the Roll with tuna on top did not look presentable, as fish was probably older than it should have been, and/or not handled properly, or a poor section of fish, and should have been used for a different purpose (or discarded), rather than give us something that does not look or taste great. Another roll (Akira) as well was not at the same level as it had been on other visits. We should have complained, but waited so long that we just moved forward with items that were still good. Food should look beautiful or intentional relative what it represents, which normally it does at this restaurant. Experience last night was a 2 star given a couple of the items were still good (salad, salmon, others). Adding 4 stars to this review given the normal 4 to 5 stars based on prior exceptional visits. Hope last night was a one-off and doesn't represent something else going in the restaurant. I will be back and hope this comes back up to higher level.
