    Thai fried rice

5 stars for service & decor 2.5~3 stars for the diluted/Americanized Thai food 1. Fried Rice (vegan) 2. Green curry (vegan) 3. Pad See yew (vegetarian + egg) 4. Fried tofu 5. Roti The service and decor here were awesome. The lady who took our order was really friendly and smiley. She really made us feel welcome. Perhaps I should temper my expectations since I live in an area with really great Asian food, so expecting Fairfax to have authentic Thai food might be a stretch? For the first 3 items we ordered, they were beautifully presented and made with fresh ingredients. However, they lacked so many elements that you'd expect from Thai food. There wasn't any lemongrass or any of that tangy sweetness you would find in both curry and the noodle dishes. The fried rice also lacked the powerful thai basil flavor that you'd expect. These 3 dishes all fell so short in flavor. I'm having a hard time saying this because the dishes were so beautifully made, with the brightest and most lovely veg... the spices and seasonings were just lacking. Luckily the fried tofu and roti were pretty standard. Actually the tofu had a really nice and light crust on it which held its crisp when they cooled. The roti was nice & flaky but again the sauces were a bit lacking. Would I personally seek out this place again? Probably not. It was a nice dining experience though, so I wouldn't be adverse to coming here for a group thing if others wanted to eat here.

A lovely stop in town. The staff are all so sweet and the service is impeccable. The decor truly immerses you while you have epic food experience. I ordered the Fresh Rolls, the Healthy Bowl, Mango Sticky Rice and a Thai Iced Tea. 10/10 will be back.

My Thai is the 3rd My Thai restaurant in the area -- the other two being in San Rafael and Mill Valley. They took over the old Siam Lotus Thai restaurant earlier this year. Their menu is available here: https://mythairestaurant.getbento.com/online-ordering/my-thai-restaurant/menu The service was pleasant and efficient late on a Friday night. We had the fresh salad roll, the fried chicken spring roll and the corn fritters for appetizers. The fresh salad roll was vegetarian, and was different than I've had in the past. It was quite large, with big pieces of lettuce in it, wrapped in a fresh spring roll. No noodles in it. It came with a sweet/tart dipping sauce and a peanut sauce. The chicken roll had a fairly thick wrapper containing something that sort of reminded me of a chicken paste, and the same dipping sauce. Not bad but not really my style, but I would try a different spring roll next time. I love corn fritters, and these were pretty good. For dinner we shared the pad thai chicken, crab fried rice and drunken noodles with shrimp. Everything was served in these cute little metal dishes that did a great job keeping the food warm. The pad thai was pretty tasty, thought the thin pieces of chicken were a bit dry. I wouldn't normally order fried rice at most thai restaurants, by my wife wanted it. It was OK. I ordered the shrimp drunken noodles extra spicy. It wasn't really spicy at all. The noodles seemed a bit over worked and had kind of broken up more than I would have liked. Sometimes Thai restaurants will serve little bowls of condiments like vinegar/sugar/fish sauce/fish sauce with chilis. I asked for this on the side and they sort of asked what I wanted in it -- they brought back a little bowl of chilis with fish sauce and a few pieces of lime. That was a big help for the flavor and spice level I thought was lacking. All in all though, I enjoyed the meal.

Food was so so. My beef was tough. No liquor license so no beer. Service was fine and ambiance pleasant. Probably won't return.

And lastly - of course - the food is just outstanding! All the Thai classics you wish for but presented in a modern way. My husband and I arrived on a Saturday in the late afternoon and there was already a wait for walk-ins. We were impressed with the hostess who greeted us at the door. She did a great job letting us know how long the wait would be. We felt that she cared about what she did and wanted to make sure our first impression was a good one. When the wait would have possibly gone longer than the 15-20 that she quoted, she made sure to let us know and why. We felt as if we personally mattered and were not just covers needing to be sat. She offered to get us drinks and gave us menus to peruse while we waited. The kitchen was going at full throttle. Togo orders were flying out the door and more were lining up. Once seated, though friendly, service was not as impressionable as the hostess. We had asked her to stagger the dishes a bit but the three dishes came out all at once. The table was small. We understand that they were busy but that did affect our experience. The Thai Iced Tea was refreshing. We also had Fire Cook Beef, Pad See Ew Noodles, Spicy String Beans and a Side of Steam White Rice. Nice portions. Dishes were nicely spiced so much so that we forgot to ask for a spice rack. We ordered a lot so we could enjoy leftovers -- and the next day, we sure did! Everyone was nice and overall it was a nice meal. We look forward to returning when we are back in the area.

The papaya salad, and the tofu satay are our favorites. The main entrees are so so, and I agree with other reviews saying the flavors sometimes are bland and not seasoned authentically. The real problem, though, is that the employees are just plain mean. I mean straight up like you are bothering them if you ask for anything. And, like another person said in their review, they literally throw the plates on your table and walk away. This has happened to us with multiple servers. They don't ask if you need anything else or how is everything ...they literally do a drive by to drop the food and keep going. I have seen servers drop off food to a table with a smile, and then the moment they turn their head from the seated party, they roll their eyes and rush back to the kitchen. It feels kind of cringe, you know, to feel like these people hate us. So weird. Last night, I wanted to ask that the seasonings were for the tofu satay. and I had to flag down a server, to which he seemed like I was bothering him with my question. I tried to warm him up by sharing how much we like that dish. He did a quick smile, then took a deep, exasperated breath as he turned and rushed off immediately after answering the question. There is no warmth here. I get that they are busy, but this is something I haven't experienced anywhere else, and to this degree. Yikes.

It was not busy at all on a Sunday so we were seated right away. We ordered the fresh rolls and the crab rangoons for starters and I ordered the wonton soup for my main. The fresh rolls were indeed fresh, filled with carrots, cucumbers, avocados, and apple. The peanut sauce it came with was warm and savory, it paired well with the rolls. The crab rangoons were good too, smaller than what I was expecting, but it was executed well. The filling of cream cheese and imitation crab was rich and creamy, which went well with the sweet chili sauce it came with. The outer shell was fried and crispy, and the filling was generous for the small outer wrapper. The wonton soup is definitely large enough for a main, it had maybe 8-10 wontons, slices of bbq pork, 2 pieces of whole shrimp, and some type of spinachy vegetable. The broth was light yet flavorful, and I added some chili flake to make it spicy. The wonton wrappers were nice, but I found the filling to be dry and rough. It didn't have any larger pieces of snappy shrimp that I was looking for, it was all minced small with the pork and the filling itself was small compared to the wonton wrapper. Besides that, I liked everything else in the soup, the bbq pork, the whole shrimp, and the veggies were all good quality and cooked well. My bf got the tofu kra-prow krob, and the tofu was fried really well and covered in a nice sweet and spicy sauce. He had this with rice, but his only critique is he wished there were veggies or something else in the dish besides fried tofu and cashews. The other 2 people at our table ordered noodles, and they enjoyed both their pad kee mao and the pad see ew. Service was pretty attentive, our small water glasses were refilled a good amount, and the food was good overall. This is a solid place for yummy Thai food, with ample parking close by and a nice staff.
