I really have had a difficult time writing this. I want them to be popular enough to stay in business, but not so they turn into other trendy restaurants in the area with insufferable lines and people. I like the Fermented Tea Leaf Salad here better than anywhere else. And I've eaten at all the other places. This salad is packed with all that salty, sour, crunchy, tea...leafy flavor that you get a fraction of in other restaurants. I don't actually order anything else. Partner orders some things mostly with duck; I don't like duck but here it's good enough that I will steal a piece. Curry is bomb. Best part is they don't mix the salad at the table or do anything but bring you lots of salad quickly and then let you eat it in peace. The people who run it are very nice. We've never had trouble getting a seat and we don't want to have trouble so just go when we're not planning to be there, ok? It's a cute little place and I hope it stays open because I don't know what I'd do otherwise because I seriously love the salad. Not expensive, as well. Now I want salad. read more

Ordered Drunken noodle Have always got excellent food here. Tonight not! It was tasteless, no basil, no moisture. Dry mushy. All noodles were broken down into small pieces. No flavor at all. No complaints here. We went at an off time so the restaurant was pretty empty and we were served in a timely manner. Inside it's clean and fun thai decorations and paintings around. Not too much else to say about that they also had mints and candy when you leave which I appreciate a lot. For food I got the khao soo and let me tell you they do not skimp on portions. All my friends foods were very well sized given the price and I took basically another meals worth of khao soo back home. The soup it's self was ver flavorful and rich broth and the noodles were chewy and a good feel. They use chicken breast pieces I believe instead of bone in chicken legs. We came here on a busy holiday weekend and it wasn't too packed. The service was friendly and quick. They have a great lunch menu on the weekdays with combos and discounted specials. The portions are quite well sized. We got the pad ke mao and the fresh ginger entree with tofu and vegetables for both. Unfortunately the tofu wasn't my favorite and tasted hollow and a bit soggy, as well as not very flavorful. I picked most of it off, but there is a generous portion. The pad ke mao was well flavored and the noodles were nice and springy. The dish was slightly too oily and heavy. The fresh ginger entree was also well flavored and had a good helping of the vegetables. The curries seemed to be better, but probably heavy on a hot day. I got the Tom Kah and the pad Thai and both were very disappointing, the soup had no lemongrass taste and was pretty bland, only flavorful part was the mushrooms. When I got the pad Thai it had no lime and when I asked for some they told me they didn't have any. Never been to a Thai place without lime. It was affordable and friendly which is why I gave it two stars instead of 1 but I wouldn't recommend this if you've had good Thai before. read more

Awesome Thai food -- especially for vegetarians! Their combo was only $18 and I got an appetizer, 2 salads, and a main entree. Additionally, the food was seasoned really well and wasn't too spicy for my taste. Not the fanciest restaurant, and reminded me of street food, but that's what made it so great. Picked up togo from Arawan Thai Cuisine while visiting Sausalito recently. Our go-to dishes to really gauge Thai food are green curry, pad see ew, and a fresh spring roll. However, when I saw soft shell crab curry, I knew I had to order it as well. I've never had this dish before. We added a few orders of brown rice to top it off. The pad see ew was cooked perfectly with the right amount of broccoli, chicken, and noodles. It wasn't overly salty like some other places. The green curry over brown rice was so flavorful. Perfect amount of spice and thick. The fresh spring roll was freshly made, soft, and went perfectly with the dipping sauce. It wasn't a peanut sauce but was still complemented the roll well. My favorite dish was the curry soft shell crab!! Since no one else in the family eats soft shell crab, I ate it from the togo container! It was amazing! I put brown rice on top to capture the curry sauce and flavor and scooped out chunks of soft shell crab, curry, and rice with each scoop. Did I already say how amazing this dish was? Had lunch here on a beautiful Sunday. The entire block was packed with people having lunch. We started out with Sate Chicken. I had the Pad Sai Roong with chicken and the GF had D-Panang Curry with vegetables We both enjoyed our choices with the exception of the chicken in the Sate and the pad sai roong. Mouthwatering soft shell crab! I pride myself in having been to many Thai restaurants but this place blew me away. It's small so be careful not to pass it. The noodle dishes are hearty spicy and hot. I had the pad see ew - a classic Thai noodle dish with chicken (you have a choice of protein). The vegetables were flavorful and fresh and my noodles and chicken were cooked well. Without a doubt, I had the tastiest Thai food here since visiting Thailand. This food was flavorful, authentic, and delicious in every bite. I spent a weekend in Sausalito and ate here twice! Could not get enough. The Kaosoy (a dish well known in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai) was incredible. I think of it as a Pho-style dish infused with Thai flavors. It's hard to find in the US in my experience, so I was beyond happy to find it here! I also had the green curry, pad Thai, and a sweet potato appetizer (mud son I think it was called?). This is the second time we got hair in our food. This time my children each found hair in there food so multiple hairs. Not sure if I ate another hair or not. This is absolutely disgusting and certainly ruins the whole meal. I must add the broccoli with tofu and slim to none frozen carrots is ridiculously overpriced at 15 dollars and add 3 dollars for barely any extra tofu. WHERE HAIRNETS! I came here recently with a friend after we went hiking nearby. Arawan Thai Cuisine is conveniently located in the heart of Sausalito, with plenty of street parking available. We called in advance for take out and our food was ready when they said it would be. The transaction was very COVID-19 friendly. They've closed off the dine-in areas and they've separated the clean & used pens for receipt signing. While the service was swift and easy, our food was just alright. We ate in the car right after we picked up the food and the food was piping hot. I ordered the Pad See Ew and my friend ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice minus the cashews. We both thought that our dishes were lacking a bit of flavor and we ended up dousing our dishes in some of their chili sauce to enhance our meal. After reading some of the other reviews, I'm a little bummed that the food didn't meet my expectations but hopefully it was just a one-off instance. For main course we got the basil fried rice and green curry. The basil fried rice was very flavorful. The green curry was sweet even though on the menu it mentioned medium spicy. Ordered some food from here (UberEats) and was overall pleased with the quantity and quality. I asked for it to be as spicy as it could be and while it was spicy, it wasn't burning hot (which could be good or bad depending on your preference). The attempt at the blazing hot seemed to be just drizzled on top in sections and not mixed in (which I tried to do as best I could). What I will say though is the appetizer was excellent (Mun Tod) and if the whole meal was this good it would be a solid 5/5. Great Thai food and location! It's not on the busy Bridgeway street of Sausalito. This was recommended by friends who live in San Francisco. The chicken Pad kee mow and green curry with tofu had good flavors. I'm not a big fan of Tom Yum, it was a little more on the sour side for me but my husband liked it. I'll try Tom kha next time. This is a destination for me every time I'm in Sausalito. I love love love this place.. I usually have the pad keep mao and my husband has a curry with rice. I've also had their fresh spring rolls and that samosas.. Everything is always good and great quality, but one of the things that stands out and I appreciate the most is volume of fresh veggies.
