My Thai is a serviceable lunch option if you are in downtown San Rafael. The menu is pretty standard and their lunch specials are reasonably priced. During this visit I ordered the lamb which was slightly overcooked and lacking in flavor. The service was a bit slow for my comfort despite the restaurant being half empty. The interior is comfortable for smaller parties since the tables are set up close to each other. If you want Thai and don't want to drive outside of downtown this is your best bet. read more

This place is real good! Came for a dinner with my girlfriends. The interior is pretty, yet not overwhelming, and they have these tables with wooden bench type seating with cushions. Something a little different which is always more fun. We started off with crispy spring rolls, which tasted good. Your every day good ole spring role. Then I had the healthy bowl which was delicious, and healthy! I always feel too full and really heavy when I leave restaurants, but this left me feeling satisfied but not like a brick in the stomach satisfied. With salmon, brown rice, avocado, greens, etc... I really enjoyed it and ate everything. Service was excellent as well, no complaints there. So why 4 stars? Parking is a bitch. But otherwise, great place to come with friends, family, a date, or anyone really. It's pretty noisy inside, and dim. Been here a number of times and have enjoyed the food and service. However, the experience today was quite different. We were a party of 5 and were charged 18% gratuity. When I pointed out to the staff that the menu mentions gratuity only for a table of 6 or more, they seemed quite offended and came back with a rather stern look. Then to my absolute shock, I noticed something never seen before. The gratuity calculations on the actual invoice are different from the amount mentioned in the credit card copy :( I don't usually check this level of detail but in this case the credit card copy had a higher amount. Nice location. Friendly , courteous waiter. My dish was chopped chicken with several vegetables over chow fun noodles. The first bite revealed the tremendous amount of salt that so overpowered the food I couldn't taste anything but salt. The chow fun noodles under the chicken mix was a different temperature than the noodles, possibly a sign of microwaving pre- made food. I can't say if the dish contained MSG , but after eating the meal the tip of my tongue was burning , usually a sign of MSG or extreme salting. This is a great option if you're in the San Rafael vicinity and need an easy weeknight meal. They have great vegetarian options. I have tried a couple of appetizers as well as a veggie curry with tofu. You get a lot of bang for your buck--they load their curry with tons of delicious veggies and they definitely don't skimp on the tofu! I was super impressed and pleased by the amount of veggies I get. It's not just boring veggies either--you get bok choy, baby corn, broccoli, etc. There is also plenty of tofu so you aren't skimping on protein. I also love that they give you red rice. The texture of it was really delicious and went well with a spicy curry. The only thing is that I would be careful when ordering--I ordered panang curry tofu with steamed rice, but received pumpkin curry tofu with brown rice. I ended up enjoying the brown rice, but was surprised when I got the bill that the curry was much more expensive than I expected. Also, my curry has visibly a lot of oil pooling on top (much more than I've seen at other places), so this probably isn't something I would eat on a weekly basis or anything. read more

We have been going to My Thai for the last 10+ years. Always consistently good, except for the last two times. Drunken noodles were bland and watery. And tonight the topper. "Green curry" which really was coconut milk with blue food coloring. On our version someone perhaps got to aggressive with the food coloring rendering the chicken an unsavory shade of turquoise blue and the curry an unsettling tint reminiscent of radioactive pond water. I rarely post but this was so bad i thought I should put it out there in hopes that the owner (perhaps a new one?) will be ashamed enough to improve. Will be watching yelp reviews to see if others are experiencing the same disappointment as us. Oh by the way the photo was not re-touched. Also sent this photo to the restaurant but no answer. Never again will I patron this place. Craving Thai after a long trip, we put in a to-go order for pad Thai, coconut soup, papaya salad, and crispy spring rolls for a total of $40. The papaya salad looked like there was shaved beets on top, and has absolutely no flavor. As someone who has grown up eating Thai, I figured maybe they were off their game. However, the Pad Thai tasted RANCID. One bite and my husband and I raced to the sink to spit it out. Not wanting to risk trying the soup, my husband called to let them know the food was way less than satisfactory. He was met with rudeness and apathy. The person on the phone refused to give a full refund and is having my husband bring all the food back to the restaurant. Bad food, terrible service. I ordered Panang Curry with sticky rice. It was with chicken and was spiced just right for me without additional instructions. The curry sauce could not have been better and there was ample chicken in the serving. One of the best Panang Curries I have ever had. My wife went for an off menu choice, requesting Pad Won Sen and she said that she liked it very much, but it was a little different than what she is used to. They gladly furnished the extra bean sprouts and left out the carrots. Service was prompt and gracious. Customers at the adjacent table were very nice and an easy and rewarding conversation accompanied the dinner. It felt like we were being welcomed to a new culinary community. The decor is neat, if slightly crowded, and the feeling was welcoming, reflecting pride in the food and the service. Parking, around the corner, in a city garage was convenient, but street parking close than a short block away is a matter of good fortune. Honestly the food is great. My friends and I come often and I always get Pad See Ew. It's delicious. BUT - we are broke college students and cannot afford to tip $10 every single time. This time that we came, our waiter said the "owner" recognized us and said we don't tip enough therefore when our check came they wrote in an $8 tip themselves. We stopped by for dinner last night and were very impressed. We arrived at 6 and were seated in the main dining room for a part for 6. The decor is awesome. Dark woods with a Thai inspired look and feel. Once we sat down and enjoyed the warm, beautiful setting, we ordered our dinner. We tried many dishes: Angel Wings; Fried Spring Rolls, Crispy Tofu, Corn Cakes, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Basil Fried Rice, BBQ Duck, BBQ Combination and the Cashew Nut. Don't get me wrong!! The food is absolutely awesome and I would recommend it to anybody who is looking to have great Thai food. The reason I am only giving it 2 stars is the unfriendly, curt gentleman taking orders during lunch time. This is probably the 7th or 8th order I have placed since the start of Covid and I usually order 4-5 different dishes for my co-workers and me. I always ask for separate checks, which he instructed me to do in the very beginning. Whenever I start the order by requesting separate checks he exhales loudly, making me feel like I am bothering him. All I want to do is support his business during this time, but also make it easier on us paying. Today I ordered a total of 4 dishes and at the end asked for 3 fresh chili sauces to which he curtly replied "You can only have one!" I had to remind him that we had 4 orders total and all I was asking for was 3 chili sauces. He was so ticked off at my request that he hung up on me only to have to call me back asking "What time you pick up?" We met our friends David and Linda here for dinner tonight. They were going to the Marin Speaker Series. We didn't subscribe this year but met them for dinner because San Rafael is close and we enjoy their company. The restaurant is divided into two rooms, one w/ more traditional Thai backless seating, although it wasn't floor level, and the other more Western seating w/ chairs and benches. We started at the former and moved to the latter in deference to Alan's back. We each ordered a dish and we ordered a My Thai crepe to share. David and I both ordered a wild salmon salad, Linda ordered a Healthy Bowl and Alan ordered eggplant w/ seafood. We didn't share our mains family style, although Alan and I did share bites. The crepe was excellent, one of the best I've had. It was smaller and more flavorful than many I've had, a symphony of tastes and textures. It was stuffed with minced shrimps, pork, shredded coconut, bean curd, ground peanuts and bean sprouts, served with cucumber salad. The coconut was a delightful surprise. The salmon salad was very good, w/ several small pieces of salmon mixed w/ greens and strips of green mango w/ a tasty dressing. I really liked it. Alan's eggplant and seafood was full of prawns, salmon, calamari and mussels with bell pepper and sweet basil sautéed with chili and black bean sauce. He requested the spice level mild, but it was still flavorful. The eggplant was tender and the sauce was delicious. It was served w/ brown rice, although white rice was also an option. Linda's Healthy Bowl contained grilled salmon with mixed grains and beans, shredded green mango, avocado, sliced pickled ginger, bean sprouts, dried cherries and blueberries. I didn't taste it, but it sounds terrific and she was pleased. It was food we'd order again and the menu has many other dishes to explore. Service was graceful, seamless and unobtrusive. But, as one of my New Year's resolutions, I'm trying to be as honest as possible these days and, well, I've come to the realization that my digestive condition is just due to plain old sin... Gluttony to be frank. BTW... there's this great History channel series being done on the 7 deadly sins.. very interesting... check it out. ANYHOOOO....my doctor has given me a print out of the following that I'm not allowed to eat/use: I cannot drink out of small mouthed containers I cannot drink through straws No carbonated beverages (you can imagine how this would put a damper on NYE) No broccoli (they're gaseous) No cucumbers, cauliflower No garlic, onions, peppers No fried foods Nothing done with heavy oil No chocolate No alcohol So, what does that leave me? Absolutely JACK!! So, l just decided to ignore my doctor's advice entirely since my favorite dish at My Thai is totally worth all of the discomfort that may result from eating my Thai Chicken Basil dish, which has the following items that I'm not supposed to eat, including: Onions Red and Green Peppers Garlic Seasoned with exotic spices and Thai Basil I frequently eat the Gang Jerd Gai (Chicken) silver noodle soup, which has the following items I'm not supposed to eat: Onions Califlower Garlic Bring on the Gluttony, bring it on!!! Coming back from a weekend up in Marshall, my bf and one of my besties were hungry for lunch. We did a quick search of places nearby and settled on Thai food. When we first arrived, we thought they would be open, but the Yelp hours didn't align with the hours posted on the door. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long (~20 minutes), so we killed sometime exploring the shops nearby. Ambiance: This place is super cute. They have booth-like seating where it's a bench with padding to sit on. There's also a very peaceful fountain along the wall in the middle of the restaurant. Service. The servers wear traditional Thai garments and the service is on par. The male server was very friendly and accommodating. He made sure to offer refills on the Cokes that we ordered, complementary refills. Food: The food was delicious. The spring rolls were fresh and the roti, although slightly on the greasy side, was perfect with the dipping sauce. The pumpkin curry had lots of tender pumpkin and a good amount of spice. The pad see ew was also quite tasty. Cost: Not cheap, but what I would expect to pay for a nice sit-down full service restaurant. Bonus: Their bathroom was very clean! read more

Thai food usually isn't on the diet plate list in my book. Curries slathered with coconut milk, satay dripping in peanut sauce, and tom kha gai steaming in a bath of high energy high calorie coconut broth. It's delicious though, and unlike sushi, when you eat it, you actually stay full for more than thirty five minutes. My Thai is a small family owned local restaurant conveniently located on Fourth Street in San Rafael between C and D Streets. They've completely redone the restaurant recently and it's modern and clean, with nice wall decor and a beautiful fountain in the smaller room adjacent to the main dining room. It's perfect in the later evening because the food comes quick (we all know we don't want to eat too late most of the time) and the service is on point and extremely friendly. They always greet me with a smile. The seaweed salad is incredible. A plethora of seaweed types, with a tasty pop of chili and lime, over a nice lettuce. It's large enough to serve three or four and it's something you just can't get enough of. My spicy tofu and vegetable dish is actually just that, spicy for once, and isn't overly oily. The portions are good sized but not too huge so that you don't overeat, which at a thai restaurant I am famous for. At any restaurant I'm good at that to be candid, finishing my plate is not something I usually struggle with. Everyone at the table is always please with the lamb skewers, delectable pieces of tender lamb on a kabob with tasty grilled vegetables, and of course, our favorite side dipping, peanut sauce. I think I could put that on just about anything and I'd be extremely pleased. The bill is always reasonable, especially for Marin, which boasts lots of overpriced food for our overpriced gas tanks and wallets. Some of the best thai in town, with ample parking, who could go wrong. There's nothing like sitting down to a well cooked meal after a long day chillin' in the sun like rockstars at Lake Berryessa. As one of my very best girls would say when I ask her what thai restaurant she wants to eat at tonight, "Anywhere but My Thai would just not be ideal. Let's hit that place up. If there's a better Thai place in San Rafael I don't know about it. I've been here a few times for lunch and once for dinner. They handle the lunch crowd well and the lunch dishes are a great value. I specially liked the Healthy Bowl which despite the unfortunate name, it's simply delicious. I really like how good the vegetables are with the dishes, never over cooked and taste fresh. A solid/decent option for Thai in San Rafael. Different from the colonial French set up of Royal Thai, My Thai is a more modern, trendy retauranat sporting bold colors and elemental (wood, stone, water) decor- check out the fantastic Buddha water fountain in the west side of the restaurant. Some of the tables are also built in bench style with cushions, which are a nice mix between sitting on the floor cross-legged and the standard table and chairs. The food was solid- very fresh and with good flavor combinations. The pumpkin curry and green curry were highlights. There was also a chicken ginger vegetable dish with a light thai sauce that was good as well. The Tom Yum Kai was also solid. The service was attentive and adapted well to a larger (6 people) group. Dude this place not only has bangin food but they have real customer service. I called to order food at 9:20pm because that close at 9:30. He told me they close the kitchen at 9:15pm but would take my order since I didn't know Ana just to be aware next time. Not only am I sick of places saying they're open until a certain time yet shit business down early, but he did the customer centric thing and let me know. If businesses don't set the expectation or give you knowledge as to how they want you to conduct business with them, then how are you supposed to know? Aren't we all more conscious with our money these days? I don't want to feel like I'm just a paycheck to a business, I want to feel like patronizing a business matters to them.
