Daikon cake was pretty good with some crispy edges & a savoury interior. Vegetarian goose was so so: it was rolled with carrot etc. It was listed under crispy items but was not crispy. The green seaweed was very nice though. Plain cruller was good: pretty light. & a bit doughy (but that's the HK style). Sweet Cruller was good: quite light & crispy & the dough had flavour. Har Gao was decent. The skin was a bit sticky & the inside was decent. Scallop shrimp dumpling was good. Deep fried creamy custard sesame balls were good though they could have more custard. Char Siew bao had soft fluffy very fragrant bread which was just a touch over-steamed. The Char Siew was good too. Bean curd roll with pork was good: moist enough & very flavourful. Fried dough stick stuffed with shrimp paste in salad sauce was good. There was a bit too much sauce (it was presauced not dip) but it was still crispy enough & the shrimp paste was generous. We had an ok dinner here. The restaurant was quite busy which was a good sign. We ordered a set meal and expected to receive typical service and food that Won would expect. Unfortunately, this restaurant is disorganized and mismanaged. They forgot to cook rice. And they forgot one of our dishes and took an extra 45 minutes at the end to wait for it. My husband and I came here for dinner 2 weeks ago to meet with one of my aunts and cousins. My aunt picked this restaurant because this is one of her favorite places to dine at. She actually comes here nearly every day for dim sum (my late uncle liked to have dim sum every day and this was one of the places they frequented). We arrived on a Wednesday, right before 7 pm. My aunt and 2 of my cousins were already seated at a table. My aunt decided to order one of the special combination meals, which was the Duck & Lobster Combo. This meal combo comes with the following: -Peking Duck in two meals: We had one dish of peking duck thinly sliced and then another with duck breast, etc. We also had a side of those thin sliced tortillas, sliced carrots, onions and hoisin sauce. The duck was delicious and perfectly made. -Stir Fried Lobster: A whole lobster stir fried in typical Chinese style fashion. It was cut up and seasoned accordingly. It was also delicious. -Sautéed Squid & Shrimp: I liked that this dish had some vegetables. The squid and shrimp was tender and the sauce used was good. -Sweet & Sour Pork w/ Pineapple: The pork was also tender and I liked the flavor of the sweet and sour sauce. -Fried Rice w/ Lobster Paste & Seafood: The rice was served at the end. The fried rice was pretty good too. --------------------------- (Total= $168 prior to tax) Typical Chinese banquet food, everything was delicious. We had our plates changed out a few times during the course of our meal. The employees and manager that came to our table were very attentive. But I believe because my aunt comes to this restaurant almost daily (she is retired) to eat, I think she is considered a VIP customer. And because of that, the manager brought out a few desserts on the house for us, which included a fried milk dish, mango jello squares and almond cookies. The manager also wanted to bring out snow fungus dessert soup, but we told the manager no because we were all very full and couldn't take these leftovers back home with us. Overall, we had an excellent dining experience and know that if we did not come with my family, its possible our experience would have been different (although I am not sure if I would have picked this restaurant on my own, while visiting Canada). A m Chinese restaurant with classic interiors. The table we were at was tucked away in a corner, making it slightly hard to get the attention of a waiter but once we ordered, the food came in fast! There is a $2.50 CAD per person tea charge (customary in Toronto) but the special weekday promo before 11am of certain dim sum dishes for $4.90 CAD made the outing a particularly good deal. 6 of the 10 dishes we ordered went for just $4.90 CAD. Instead of me listing the 10 dim sum dishes, it might be easier to just look at the captioned photos of the dim sum dishes and the photo of the itemized bill. Worthy of an honorable mention as far as exotic items were the crystal sugar honeycomb cake and the deep fried seafood red rice roll. I also enjoyed the presentation of the heated glass teapot and side carafe of hot water for controlling our own tea strength. The pre-tip bill was an astonishingly modest $83.96 CAD or $61.74 USD. Sadly I don't have a lot of good things to say about this place. As is customary now in the GTA a tea fee is added to dim sum meals. This place took things to a new low though when we asked for tea we were given two packages and a pot of hot water. We basically mixed our own tea, and when we asked for a refill of hot water we never got it. I have never seen a place charge for essential self serve/mix tea. They have the tea on a stand with a tea light so it stays hot . Very fancy. The tea leaves come in a sealed bag and you add to the pot with a strainer. The tea was good . We got the Duck, Lamb, and Lobster Combo ($238+ tax at the time) but substituted the lamb stew with a steamed bass, which was an extra charge ($5 at the time). Set included 8 dishes, and finished with red bean dessert and cookies. Steamed rice was not included in the set, was an extra charge ($5 for two bowls). The set for 6 was perfect for us, 6 adults plus 1 child. We were all stuffed, with a couple boxes (duck body, chicken, and lobster) to take home. We were here for a couple's anniversary back in June, 2024. They are old friends from our Winnipeg days, and it's the big celebration for 50 big ones. So, they had pretty much almost the entire place all blocked out. Parking was fairly easy, with a lot big enough for even when they get busy at weekend dim sum hours. Place is not exactly brand spanking new, but it's not the most run-down Chinese resto in the Toronto area that we've seen. Can't say I have ever lined up prior to a restaurant opening hours for dim sum but wow this was an experience. They open at 9am on the Saturday we went and my coworker, who frequently visits, recommends going 10 min or so prior to opening to line up to ensure you are part of the first wave of seating. 9-11am they have early bird special where all small medium and large dishes are a set price of $4.68. We arrived around 8:50am and there were already 5-6 cars with people inside waiting near the entrance to the restaurant. Later once one person left their car to stand by the door, the entire horde of people, us included haha, got out of our cars to line up. We were let in exactly at 9 am and it was a little free for all vibe. Just go in and sit at a table that is suitable/appropriate for your group. Once seated, they will ask you your choice of tea and you get sachets to place in the preheated hot water pots. We got our usual chrysanthemum pu'er. We got a dim sum marking sheet on the table and just marked off the ones we wanted and pretty soon the dishes were rolling out to every table. We did find the portions are slightly smaller than other places but taste and quality are pretty good. We got a lot of the usual har gow, siu mai, egg tart and also their version of clay pot rice, dough fritter rice roll, and pumpkin congee. The dough fritter was more dense and less crunchy than other places but still good. I really liked the egg tart. Nice soufflé crust and filling was not too dense or too watery. Don't let the overall rating fool you. The dimsum here is legit, just check the recent reviews. We had a dim sum feast here and had so much food stacked that it can barely fit the table at the end. Lots of options and some unique options as well. All the food came out great, I can't pinpoint one item I didn't like. One dish that stood out, don't know who ordered at our table is the chewy sesame ball with the egg yolky center. Not sure what's it called but it's my fav and not found in many dim sum spots. If you're in Toronto, you have dim sum so we got this recommendation from my sister-in-law. It is located in a small shopping strip with parking in front. Since we came towards the end of service, it wasn't busy. Since there was no cart service (it was Friday), you check it off on a menu and they bring the dishes out. They were out of BBQ pork puff but we had ordered more than enough plates for the 2 of us. Tea is served in kettle on a warmer with packets of tea leaves (I had asked for a combo of chrysanthemum and bola so we got 2). There are serving chopsticks on the table which is nice. The turnip cake was full of turnip but was missing the oyster sauce on the side (maybe they don't dip it in Canada?). We ordered a few rice rolls, dumplings and congee and it was all delicious. I have been to Ritzy Palace quite a few times and I am always leaving with satisfaction and a full stomach! The $4.68 Dim Sum Special for Small, Medium and Large items from 9 am to 11 am is considered to be one of the steals in the GTA for the portion size and quality of the dim sum menu. The Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow) is quite good for the shrimp filling with enough pork fat to contrast the natural sweetness from shrimp. The $18.88 Lobster E Fu Noodles (available after 11 am) is a good size and I recommend eating it only at the restaurant to enjoy the wok hei from the noodles. I thought the name was a bit silly but hey, the dim sum was great. This place felt like the quintessential dim sum spot, big open restaurant with a bunch of patrons sitting at these fancy looking tables. The food: We ordered a ton of food, I am not going to list everything but I do remember the shumai, churn fun with shrimp, churn fun with fried shrimp, the chicken feet, and the spare ribs in the rice pot were all delicious. I am not going to lie, the shumai are probably the ugliest ones I ever saw, but they were delicious lol The one item I felt could have been a bit better was their don tot, I felt the dough on the egg tart could have been baked longer for a flakier and better crust. Great dim sum restaurant and dinner is also very fresh, I use to come here for dim sum back when it was Spring Villa, looks mostly the same but under another name. We were enjoying a 100 day birthday celebration on the private side of the restaurant. The service was very attentive, they plated all the food to each diner and did several plate changes so you never have a messy plate lingering. The 10 course was very delicious, everything tasted very fresh, no extra seasoning needed. I wasn't parched afterwards either which means very little msg salts were used. Service was friendly and swift, well organised and all electronic devices worked properly for the slideshows, lights for the dragon dance and sound was loud enough.
