The chef is Jamaican and you…read morecan taste the pride and freshness in every dish--most sides are made to order, and the fish was cooked perfectly. The service from both the chef and the bartender was warm, welcoming, and genuine. The ambience is quaint and inviting. I actually changed my mind last minute and chose this spot over two other restaurants I was considering--and I'm so glad I did. The food and the rum punch were so good that we drove back from New Jersey the very next night just to try more from the menu. The oxtails, curry chicken, and brown stew fish were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The rice and peas were flavorful and cooked to perfection. When we dined in, every patron who walked in ended up joining in conversation like we'd all known each other for years. The energy, the vibes, and the bartender made my entire night. This is the first time I've ever walked out of a bar alongside both the staff and the patrons. Anytime I visit NYC from Texas, Blue Mountain is officially on my must-visit list. Highly recommend! *I ate my meal too fast. Forgot to take pics*

I wish I ordered more, but will definitely be back next time. The coco bread was so soft and flavorful. Same for the beef patty, great taste with good control on spices and really nice bite to the shell. Photos are not doing it justice, I couldn't wait to eat it so I just chowed down on it before I got a nice picture of it. But highly recommend Staff were very welcoming and friendly. I saw them prepping a lot of other pastries in the back when I walked in, everything looks good. Service was quick and professional. No area to eat in, mainly for to-go ordering it seems

Naturally I asked what was it and all I heard was "oxtail". THEY PUT THE OXTAIL IN THE COCO BREAD Y'ALL!!!!! There was a slice of cheese in there and it was PHENOMENAL! I went back today for 4 more and a cornmeal porridge plus a pine and ginger. They make a limited batch of the oxtail patties so go early!!! It's worth it! Oxtail without the bones! Chef's kiss!!!!

Rice & Peas & Tings is located toward the rear of the Bronx Terminal Market food court. I wound up here early on a Sunday morning and decided to give them a try. After the warm greeting, I asked if it was too early for stew chicken and was told 'Course not'. I was given a hearty serving of food, with EXTRA GRAVY like I requested. I could have fallen in love right there. I grabbed one of the many available tables, near the Christmas tree, so I could look wistfully out, onto...the highway. While the plate was plentiful, the chicken I received was small boney pieces. If you look, you can see the chicken back in my picture. This is not exactly a complaint (bones are for chewing), but I would have liked to have more actual meat. The chicken itself was also slightly sweeter than my preference, but still very good. Honestly they had me at the extra gravy and could probably do no wrong. The rice and veg were both well cooked and I have no complaints on either. I will definitely return and try different things from the menu (looking at you oxtail).

Saw a large sign boasting, Rice & Peas & Tings, so I strolled over. Behind the counter was this cordial young gentleman who I had a lengthy conversation with. In a part of our conversation he informed me that they recently opened in the Terminal in 2024 and they are eagerly looking forward to sharing their food with the masses. For the undecided, samples are offered to help in any decision making. I didn't accept his offer of samplings, but what better way to entice someone. If you're looking for 'authentic Jamaican food like your Mama and Grandma used to make...', as they quote, stop by Rice & Peas & Tings.
