I have been a patient and customer of MyEyeDr in Kernersville for a long time, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. Having worn glasses and contacts for decades, I have had many experiences with eye doctors, and Dr. Harris is wonderful! He takes the time to complete a thorough eye exam, and he listens to and addresses my concerns. I also purchase my glasses and contacts at this office now, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful, especially on my latest visit. Even though I have moved away from Kernersville, I still return to this office for my vision needs and will continue to do so. read more

I'm very surprised at all of these bad reviews. Not discounting them but my family of six has had nothing but good experiences over the last 3 years. They have a very friendly and professional staff, and an excellent optometrist. Now they usually don't answer the phone but I've left messages and then received an email response later that day. They seem to be very busy at times but they definitely don't rush you but make you feel like a valued customer. They even backed up their warranty when my damaged glasses were at the 12 month mark. I'm new to the area but I was already established with MyEyeDr so I chose this location in Kernersville. I was worried after all the bad reviews, but had a wonderful experience! Got right in. The building was nice and clean. The MD was fast and pleasant to work with. Answered all my questions. I ordered contacts and I was told it might take two weeks and it ended up arriving in 6 days. My only complaint was getting an appointment scheduled. This location was booked out several months for a yearly eye exam, but if you can wait I definitely recommend. read more

Horrible service! After making an appointment at 8 o'clock for my son on a school day (this was the only option they gave me within 60 days), we waited for 40 minutes and then finally left. I asked several times how much longer the wait would be and was told he was next. They had no intention of telling the truth, and were woefully understaffed. I had been a customer of theirs for the past six years, but their service has eroded. There are too many other options in the Piedmont Triad. read more

Not sure if this establishment is under new management or new corporate rules or just a change in atmosphere but the last two times I've been there I've received terrible service! This past time the general manager was present and did nothing! Was a minute past the grace late time and they wouldn't see my son. I understand the policy but considering I've waited patiently over 20 minutes on them on several occasions due to their staffing shortages without a single complaint or attitudes you would think they would try to be accommodating. I've spent a lot of money with them and was planning to spend more this visit. This was a time for them to show some empathy and compassion. They didn't even offer my son to reschedule and a soon as available appointment. Clearly didn't want out business. There are Optometrist on just about every corner, so I will try everyone for both my son and I because I will not return here! read more

My husband and daughter when there and with my husband, they take the insurance but would not file his insurance and I called the insurance company and they said that was not how they are suppose to do. We filed it ourselves. My daughter went there and they gave her some sample contacts and the prescription was written for these new contacts. Well after wearing them for an hour had a huge headache. Called down there 1st day and stated they will call her back but never did. Second day call and stated that eye doctor was not there and will call her back. Did not and on third day stated she was there but was only there a few hours and never call to tell her this. Called another office in High Point and they were so nice and got on the phone to them. Had to finally go in at Kernersville to get the prescription and they said they will get it later but we told them we were not leaving until we receive it. read more

Garber Eye/MtEYEDr is and has been a great fit for my eye examinations, Dr. Terry Ellington is very knowledgeable and take his time to assure you that your examine is done right, and you never fell rushed. Not the local hometown business it was with Garber. All they want is to sell you something. Most of the original people are gone or miserable. Last 3 pair of glasses had to be redone. The arm fell off the last pair and besides asking if I was satisfied, she reminded me twice that it was all the warranty I would get, that I had to pay next time. I'm due for an exam and already made an appointment elsewhere. So sad to see a good business get bought and ruined with corporate greed. read more

I have been going to this place for years. I also take my children to get their eyes exam there. If I could give a zero starI would have. Apparently a mother with two young children cannot schedule an appointment together. I was told this is because if we were to cancel then the dentist would have too many open slots. Again my children are minors and will be with me anyway. I've been asked if there was an exception to this rule and was told no. If there was an option to give zero stars that's what I would've given for poor customer care. She offered to make me separate appointments on separate days. I am a working mother and cannot take that much time off. You would think that would be an exception but no. Even if I wasn't a working mother it's unacceptable. I called customer relations but got no help. You guys just lost 3 customers. read more

I have been using my VSP at this location to purchase sunglasses for the past year and a half. In November I ordered a pair of Costa sunglasses. I did not receive them until the new year. Upon receiving them they were the incorrect lens. I have contacted the office and left my phone number numerous times and have not heard anything back. I was very pleased with my initial experiences, but have been greatly disappointed lately. I will be looking for a new location to utilize my VSP benefits in the future. read more

Ugh. This place has the strangest hours. They close for over an hour for lunch everyday. When we finally got around to going when they were open, we just saw a sparse, disappointing frame collection. I would give zero stars if I could. I have never taken the time to write a review before, but after my experience at myeyedr last week, I felt it was important for others to be aware. I had new insurance that included vision starting in January and when I got to my appointment they could not find my insurance information. The receptionist was very helpful and told me that I could call the insurance company to try to get the information needed. I asked if she meant for me to call while I was waiting and she said yes that they typically will give an answer quickly if they know you are at an appointment. I made the phone call in the waiting room while I was waiting to be called back. I was on hold with the insurance company when the tech walked out (15 minutes after my appointment time). I got off the phone and I thought I was going to go back for my appointment. However, the tech proceeded to hand me two contacts and told me I would need to reschedule my appointment and the doctor was full for the next month. Obviously, I was confused as to why I was not going back for my appointment. She told me they had a 15 minute grace period, and if someone didn't show during that time then their appointment was canceled. I explained that I was on time and was waiting to be called back but while I was waiting I was trying to work out my insurance. The tech told me that I would have to pay for the appointment and I told her that I obviously would and then just file my insurance later. She Continued to tell me that I had missed my appointment and could not be seen that day. I tried to explain that I was just doing what the receptionist had asked me to do while I was waiting to be called back. Had I been given the choice to be seen or to call the insurance company then I would have chosen to been seen. I was pretty insistent that I needed to see the doctor and that it was crazy that I couldn't since I was on time for my appointment and no one had called me back. The tech explained that there was a possibility of being seen later that afternoon. I told her that I was there now and had been on time and I needed to see the doctor and I couldn't come back later because of work. Words cannot express the attitude that this tech had. I have never been in a situation like this before, especially in a doctors office. The lack of professionalism was appalling. And the crazy thing is, I had called a month before asking for one contact because the last one I had was torn and my appointment wasn't until January. They didn't want to give me one then because they said they would be liable since I had not seen the doctor in a year. And now they were able to give me two contacts. I was eventually seen that morning but there were no apologies offered. Not even from the doctor. I'm not sure if he was aware of what all had transpired but his attitude was definitely different from the many visits I have had with him before. And when I checked out I was treated with coldness. The only shining light at this facility was the receptionist who originally checked me in. She kept apologizing for the misunderstanding. Needless to say, I will never be back again. I agree with the other reviews... This was a wonderful office prior to myeyedr taking over. It is obviously all about the money and absolutely nothing to do with patient care. read more

I always go here for my glasses, and I have for years. One of the best features is how well they work together with my insurance and flex account. I don't have to worry about a thing. They always make sure that I am getting the best, and the most, for my money. Even though I moved away from Kernersville, I will continue to drive there for my eye care. This is an update to my earlier review. I have to say, nothing has changed my opinion of Garber Eye/MyEyeDr in Kernersville. I still would not consider changing doctors to a closer office. Dr. Ellington is the best, most pleasant and informative doctor, of any kind, that I have had in a very long time. These folks are always very helpful, and informative. I have read some of the negative reviews posted here, and have to say, I had none of the problems or issues that they mention. If you choose the cheapest frames in the store, you have to expect them to be less durable and well made than a more expensive pair. I have purchased my glasses and sunglasses here for years, and never had a problem. They never, EVER tried to sell me anything I didn't want. I have had them put new prescriptions into old frames twice, with no problem or argument. I suggest anyone who had a negative experience give them another try. read more

When they were private (Garner) there wasn't any better, now they are a money hungry, poor service, we have moved all our large family from them to a Winston provider. Ye, willingbto travel 30 mins away for better service, prices and care. We were patients for so many years I can't remeber 15 or more. Won't go back. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Garber since 1981 and was very happy. Since MyeyeDr. took over the practice, it is not the same. I have been told they threw away all the old records by more than one employee and told they are digitizing them by several other employees. Service is poor at best. I have given them multiple tries to improve to no avail. While the current doctors are both knowledgeable and personable, the remainder of the staff have no people skills. I DO NOT recommend them. Find another practice to get your eyes checked. I would rate no stars if possible. read more

Do not like the new My Eye Dr at all , all they care about is the $$$ , love Dr. Harris , but will most likely go somewhere else , they are NOT the same place as when it was Garber , ordered a new pair of safety glasses against my wishes , Dr Harris told me I had little change and was fine , when I checked out they told me I needed new prescription/frames , should have stuck with my gut and not let them talk me into ordering new ones , still cant wear the new ones, to strong , make me dizzy , took them back and told them , they did something to my glasses but still can't wear them . Talked me into getting a pair of sunglasses as well ,cant wear them either , ALL about the $$$. Had an issue with my eye in June , went in , front desk was a total wreck, wasnt concerned about my eye, was wanting to know about payment , asked me several times about payment, did not seem to know what was going on. I understand why the other ladies left , I would have to , Dr. Harris is the only reason I would even consider coming back , but it really it not worth it , I am sure there are other good eye doctors around , I hate it for him . Stellar service. Dr. Ellington is hands down one of the best medical professionals I have ever seen.

Since becoming "MyEyeDr", the original staff are all gone, and with them, the great service I was accustomed to, is gone as well. The only thing that has kept us there this long, is Dr. Harris (who is great). But after today, that may not be the case much longer. I recently had eye surgery, and needed to make an emergency appointment. The office manager, John Smith came on the phone and said the Dr. Harris didn't have any appointments available, and refused to work me in, even though it was an emergency. He offered another appointment with another doctor at another location. If I have to go see a random doctor, somewhere else, I prefer to pick my own, and it won't be at a MyEyeDr location. Dr. Harris is great but beware if you have an emergency and call outside of their hours. The "on call doctor process" is very ineffective. If you have a real emergency, go to an urgent care - don't wait on them to call you back or actually see you. They will try to "work you in" when your daughter is standing there in pain and can't open her eye. read more

On January 10th I booked an appointment online for my daughter for an eye appointment for January 28th with Dr. Harris. I got a confirmation from their office that my day and time had been excepted for Dr. Harris. A couple of days later my daughter received a call from their office but was unable to take the call because she was at work. Their office did not leave a voicemail. Yesterday (Jan. 28th) we arrived at their office 20 minutes early in case there was paperwork to fill out. My daughter checked in with the front desk and was told that the office had tried to call her several times, but her voicemail box was full. First of all, they never called her more than once and her voicemail is never full. Then they proceeded to tell us that the appointment day and time I booked online was never available in the first place. That's when I pulled out my confirmation email that they had sent me. I also told them I had called the office right after I made the appointment online to confirm and was told yes, my appointment was confirmed. I wish I had gotten the name of the girl I spoke with, but I didn't. They then proceeded to tell me they did not take my insurance. I had also confirmed that with the girl I had spoken with on the phone when I had call earlier. Needless to say, we were very aggravated. My daughter had taken off work and drove from Virginia and I had also taken off work to make this appointment. I guess I should have asked to be reimbursed since if I had not cancelled in an appropriate time frame, they would have charged me for the visit so I think they should pay me for cancelling my appointment!!!!!! Needless to say, I would NOT RECOMMEND this office of MyEyeDr in Kernersville under any circumstances AT ALL!!! I was disrespected and ignored. I will NEVER go back! It sucks I have seen the same doctor for a long time and he is great, I love and will miss my doctor, but when customer service is bad and they are more worried about laughing about a story then customer service your patients are going to leave! They are the rudest people ever!!! My bill was 60 and insurance said it should have been only 20...I told them I could pay 30...They said "NO i had to pay the 60"....The week before they over charged my hubby and its ok for them to send him a check for the 40 they owe him in 4-6 weeks!! This office has been going downhill ever since they changed from Garber to MyEye Dr. My family has been going to this location since 96. The office staff WAS wonderful, now they are gone..no wonder why. My daughter went to her appointment and witnessed a customer being treated like a feeble-minded idiot because he was having difficulty understanding what was covered under his insurance. I wish I could say this was an isolated incident but my husband was harassed (yelled at and treated rudely) by this same employee because he wanted to buy his glasses somewhere else (prices are too high and selection is limited). read more

Very poor service. Took over 25 minutes to be called and then waited 40 to see a doctor after I was taken to an exam room. I wasn't skipped over, as I asked an assistant after 30 minutes of waiting how much longer it should be. Go somewhere else where you won't have to wait an hour to see a doctor to get a prescription that doesn't need to change. read more

I have been going to Garber Eye Center ( now MY EYE DR) for many years and love the people there. My Dr is Dr Harris and he is not only an excellent Dr, but also a joy to visit with. The ladies up front have always been delightful. I went for my annual eye exam today and was shocked when the nurse went over the "NEW" fees that would be charged for the different aspects of a thorough exam. When I questioned the much higher fees, I was told that My Eye Center honored Dr Garber's more affordable charges for the 1st year. Needless to say, I had sticker shock and turned down several different aspects of a thorough exam as it seemed every little thing was at an additional charge. I don't blame the staff there but do blame big business for messing up a good thing. I still feel like Dr Harris gave me a good exam and he was genuinely sorry about my financial distress at the situation. read more

Service has deteriorated since Garber was purchased by MyEyeDr. Front desk is still nice but exam fees are higher with additional tests not covered by insurance. Also, glasses can take over a month because of the company's distribution system. read more

Final update on the MyEyeDr. formerly Garber Eye Center saga! I don't know how many people read these things but just in case anyone is wondering how things turned out...here it is. We left off, that on May 5th my glasses came in but were being sent back to the lab. On the 11th I received a message that they were ready for pickup! On May 12, I went back because I had blurred vision in the left lens. After examining the lenses I was informed that the left lens needed to be replaced...back to the lab we goooo! No word from MyEyeDr. until May 20th, I received a message once again...my glasses are ready. I picked them up and wore them all day and half of the next day but was experiencing headaches. I went back on May 21st and explained that I was getting headaches. I was informed that I needed to give my eyes time to adjust. On May 27th I returned to MyEyeDr. and told them that I could not wear the glasses because of the headaches. I was told that they could order new ones but I'd be without again...until God knows when. At this point I said I wanted to return the glasses and go else where. Please keep in mind that my glasses were ordered on April 17th and I've had them in my possession for 7days...this is important for the GRAND FINALE! The woman that I spoke with (can't remember her name) took the glasses and handed me a refund receipt for my out of pocket expense. She said, I will receive a check in 4 to 6 weeks from the CORPORATE office. She also told me that she couldn't reinstate my insurance because its been over 30 days!! I explained to her that I only got the glasses on May 20th, then she proceeded to tell me that "its irrelevant when you got them, it goes by the purchase date and you are over the 30 days" WHAAAAT? I asked to speak to the manager Christina but was told she wasn't in. Another woman there confirmed that my insurance could not be reinstated but I could exchange for a new pair. My insurance paid this place $715 plus what I paid them, which came out of my account on 4/17. They have the glasses, I have to wait 4 to 6 WEEKS for my refund AND I can't get glasses until my insurance renews in January! I left there completely distraught to say the very least. I went home and explained this never ending story in great detail to my insurance company. The insurance rep was empathetic and spoke to me with genuine kindness. She asked me to please hold on the line while she makes a phone call. After waiting on hold for twenty minutes, she came back on the line and said "Michelle, go get your new glasses...your insurance has been reinstated." I started to cry...couldn't even speak to thank her!! I'm happy to say that I just got my new glasses and I'm seeing the world beautifully! I hope this horrible story of what happen to me does not happen to someone else. I will forever read reviews going forward so that I don't make this mistake again.
