We were a party of 5; ladies get together. We sat at the bar area and indulged in various appetizers which were on the "bar" menu for Happy Hour. We also received our drinks at happy hour pricing. We ordered 5 different appetizers to satisfy our discriminating palates. My choice was the beef sliders. I am always a little hesitant when my dish mentions spicy. I asked our server what their opinion of "spicy" was with this choice. Turned out this appetizer was rated the best with our group. Being in the bar area and Happy Hour, the noise level was elevated. Came here for the very first time and was excited to try this place out for diner. The place looked fancy and was looking forward to tasting their steaks. The waitress, was friendly but not very professional. We sat at one end of their long table during a business meeting/presentation in the last room in the back. Our waitress basically ignored us and served the older ladies in front of us and the people to our right, and served us last. I ordered the 7 oz Filet miñon, a margarita, and water. When I got my steak, it came in two small pieces, while everyone in our table got a whole piece. Asked the waitress about it and she sad that the chef probably weighted it and gave me two small pieces. To me, it looked like two leftover pieces or they were cut from a left over steak. I Tod the waitress that I wasn't going to it and if they can cook and replace them with one "whole" piece instead and gave her my plate. A few minutes later she came back with a 7oz on piece. Ordered a Margarita and it came back too strong and despite of me telling the waitress that I wanted the drink with light ice, it came back with lots of ice and little alcohol. I drank water instead! This is my 3rd visit to this gorgeous establishment! The atmosphere is always warm and sophisticated yet inviting. We were greeted warmly and promptly seated. Our server was gracious and accommodating. We started with baked Bree, bone marrow, and a beet salad. The baked Bree and bone marrow was delicious. I didn't try the beet salad but it looked pretty. Before I start, I'll give a background on my expertise in steak. Before I moved to Texas, I used to buy boxes of steak from Walmart and microwave them. I once told to a chef I knew and I think if he had a knife that I would have been in trouble. This was not a Kirby's chef. They are much too busy making great steaks to hurt anyone. Maybe I should not use the expertise. I'll update my review when I find a better word. I don't know much about steaks but I do know that Kirby's will provide with one of the best steaks if not the best steaks in the area. My fiance and I went here a few months ago for restaurant week. We have been hooked on it since and it is one of our go tos when we want to have a splurge night. The steaks are amazing. They offer three different sauces including a cognac pepper sauce, a bearnaise sauce and a roquefort sauce. All of the sauces are delicious and you won't go wrong ordering any of them. I suggest getting whatever sauce you want but try the steak by itself first before using the sauce. The steaks are delicious all by themselves. The price of the restaurant will not be for everyone. If this is the case then keep an eye open for the next restaurant week and try it then. I have never had an issue parking. You just might need to walk bit further if you have to park towards the back. The service was very friendly and attentive. Food was amazing! Had a lobster bisque and wedge salad for an appetizer and those alone are worth going back for. We ordered the 24oz ribeye and it was perfect!! One of the best steaks I've had in the city and we've tried lots of other steak houses. Another amazing dish was the mushroom risotto.... Best I've ever had! Last night was date night for hubby and me. I made reservations for us to have dinner @kirbysprimesteakhouse. We had bought tickets for Lauren Daigle's concert. David and I both had wine. He had Benton Lane Pinot Noir, and I had a Malbec. David ordered the Angus Ribeye, and I had the Pan Roasted Sea Bass with lobster risotto. With both our entrées, it came with a choice of soup or salad. Both of us chose salads - Thousand Island dressing for hubby, and Ranch for me. The salad was a generous serving. David's ribeye was well-seasoned and so flavorful. My lobster risotto was fantastic. The sea bass was cooked perfectly, yet it lacked flavor. Nico brought a beurre blanc and it helped. Tried out Kirby's for restaurant week. I'd say it's definitely in our top 3 for steakhouses in San Antonio. The service was wonderful, the food was excellently prepared, and the whole ambiance of the place was lively and warmly inviting. The bar area was really beautiful. I thought our waitress was very attentive to the fact that we didn't want butter on our steaks so when the bread came out, she brought some creamy garlic dip to have with our bread. She said the staff loves to do that. I tried a little bit and it was amazing. We started out with a shrimp cocktail that we split and it was on point. Next was the salad, which was very good along with that creamy garlic dressing. I ordered the steak and cake, which was a petite filet mignon with a crab cake. I gave my husband half the crab cake. Again, we ordered the steak without the butter and it was delicious that way, but I just could imagine how much better it was with the butter. We also had the sauce for the crabcake on the side. I think the crab cake was the most magnificent crabcake ever. It was nice and thick and full of crab. We also had a baked potato with our meal and it was large and prepared perfectly. I ordered the peach old-fashioned and I thought it was one of the best old-fashioneds I have had. I ordered it just the way they make it because they were out of the Angels Envy bourbon that I love. My lamb chops were a bit undercooked and they quickly took them back, recooked them and even the manager came to ensure they were cooked to my liking. Ok, let me start with the ambiance, is elegant and warm, perfect for a date at night, but also is great for business meetings. I recommend to make a reservation, sometimes it is very busy. I like to seat at the booth tables at the bar, of course they have high top tables and open bar. My favorite server here is John, white, bald guy with this very well taken care long beard, if you get him, you are set! I love two appetizers here, the Lobster Cargot (OMG my mouth waters just thinking of it) careful because it's always steaming hot, it comes in a big plate with this creamy/cheesy white sauce and a side of freshly baked bread and the Grilled Baby Lamb Chops, delicious!! These lamb chops come in a dark sauce on a bed of mushrooms, You can't ever go wrong with these pair! I normally get a steak, with grilled asparagus or rosemary grilled zucchini and the lobster Mac and cheese, but this time I wasn't too hungry so I ordered this seafood salad John recommended me, and Oh if it was good! Light, tasty and refreshing. Oh! Almost forgot, I also got the Tequila Shrimp, it was good, but not my favorite. Took my parents here for dinner because I wanted to treat them out. The food here was absolutely phenomenal. We ordered the 8oz and 10oz medium-rare filet mignon and the steak was cooked to perfection. The meat was so tender that it basically melts in your mouth. The baked potato was to die for. We also got the lobster risotto, which was one of the creamiest risotto I ever had. Great infusion of lobster flavor as well. They also did not cop out on the amount of lobster in the risotto. We finished the dinner off with pecan pie along with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream. My mom also ordered the seafood salad and let's just say they were also very generous with the portion of seafood in her salad. Overall, each dish was pricy (but reasonable for a mid upper scale steakhouse), but the portion sizes were excellent. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a upper scale dinner relative to what you normally eat. Parking was super easy. Starting off with the appetizers, I must recommend the Baked Brie Skillet. It was flavorful and had a good balance of creamy but firm when used as a topping for the bread. I was not a huge fan of how crispy the Crab Puff was, and the Pan Seared Redfish was extremely salty. The Filet Mignon was also somewhat dull and did nothing to stand out. Kirby's steakhouse is hands-down probably one of the most unique steakhouses I've been to in a long time not only would I recommend it but I would highly recommend Training something off the chef's experience menu. The customer service goes not only far and beyond, but they definitely show what it feels like to be the pinnacle of great customer service. The foods are made at a level that you would find at a Michelin star restaurant. Their drinks are breathtaking, amazing and the flavor behind everything here is absolutely to die for. If you're going for a date or anniversary, they have private settings in the back they give a little bit more elegant and refined and intimate settings. If you're going as a family, they have more of an open area where you can feel comfortable and enjoy the ambience. I must say that I enjoyed the food so much. I forgot to take pictures and I drank the drinks and enjoyed every bit of it more than I could ever imagine that I will definitely have to make a comeback tour here again and take pictures. Came here for our anniversary dinner. I mentioned that in my opentable reservation, but nothing about that was mentioned during our evening. No special treatment and nothing like a free celebration toast. They even wanted to initially set us at a table and not a booth. I ordered an old fashioned, and out of the two I had the second one was much better for some reason. My wife's lemon drop martini featured ice which should have been strained out and course sugar crystals instead of fine. The potato crusted calamari was the strangest take I've ever encountered. Something definitely off with the sauce it is served with. Tasted like Prego in a can or something. If you want calamari go to Toros next door. My NY strip was larger than I wanted at 12 oz, so I took some home. By the time I got to the end of it, it was overly done due to additional resting time. The steak was tasty and the au gratin potatoes divine. My wife loved her baked redfish and green beans. Too stuffed for desert. We came for NYE and Kirby's had a set menu in place for the evening. For $99 per person, we had choices on their three course dinner menu. I started with their crab and Gruyère served on pastry while my husband went with the skewered grilled steaks. My crab was absolutely delicious! I then went with the burrata on arugula which was refreshingly good. Our main course (pictured) consisted of pan fried wahoo which was truly incredible. I'm not a mole fan but the mole sauce it laid on had a nice sweetness and spice combination which paired well with the fish. My husbands steak was way too underdone for his liking but decided to take it home since we were way too full to finish our dishes. We made a rookie mistake by having some appetizers at home before making it to dinner at Kirby's. We finished the night with their tiramisu on chocolate shell- also very good. Be aware the noise level is high in the bar area, lots of businessman bros talking at the top of their lungs makes it hard to even hear the person next to you. The shrimp cocktail was a pleasant surprise-plump, large, and sweet-like an old girlfriend of mine. The grilled shrimp were expertly prepared, accompanied with a creamy sauce. Went here for restaurant week and the food was delicious. I had the Korean Pork Belly as the first course and the blend of flavors was outstanding. The pork belly blended perfect with the chive white rice and the cucumber salad giving it different flavors on the palette. My wife ordered the Truffle Burrata Salad that was also great. As the main course we both had the filet mignon that was cooked to perfection. Very tender and flavorful. It was delicious! And the cheddar mashed potatoes were a great compliment. The cognac pepper sauce was also very good but honestly the filet didn't need it, it was great by itself. For the third course (dessert) I had the tiramisu with a bourbon chocolate sauce and my wife had the NY style cheesecake with the apple pie compote. Both were very good but I did prefer the tiramisu. It paired really well with the espresso old fashioned that I ordered with it. They had a decent drink selection with some good options and a decent wine selection. I recommend the banana nut bread drink if you like vodka and the espresso old fashioned was by far the best drink I had there. It was a good option for restaurant week and they nailed it with the menu and options and the food was delicious. I would definitely go back again when it's not restaurant week. Decided to bring my husband for his Birthday Dinner as a treat. Our Reservation was at 5pm and we were the second couple in the whole restaurant. The only NEGATIVE of the evening... they sat us at the table closest to the restrooms even though the restaurant was EMPTY. I hope it had nothing to do with my husband being black.
