My Tito's Flithy Dirty Martini at Kirby's Steak
    Debbie H.

Everything!! Greeting, Service, Happy HourMenu! The mixologist behind the bar knew exactly what I wanted a Tito's of course Tito's filthy dirty porn star, dirty martini, shaken, not stirred olives on the side perfection! Happy hour is until seven appetizers are on happy hour. I'm having the shrimp cocktail jumbo shrimp cocktail. She put my olives on the side in a glass like I requested, and I can skate across that glass. That's how I like my Tito's martinis if you haven't been to KERBY's for happy hour in San Antonio, you must go. I live in the Woodlands and I love my KERBY's in the Woodlands happy hour and dinner.!! ask for Shelby if you want a dirty corn star martini of course made only with Tito's

This is my 3rd visit to this gorgeous establishment! The atmosphere is always warm and sophisticated yet inviting. We were greeted warmly and promptly seated. Our server was gracious and accommodating. We started with baked Bree, bone marrow, and a beet salad. The baked Bree and bone marrow was delicious. I didn't try the beet salad but it looked pretty. LoL Next was my filet mignon served with a twice baked potato. We added lobster Mac and cheese and roasted Brussel sprouts. Everything was primo!! My Steak was tender and full of flavor. The sides were beyond delicious!!! For dessert I had the pistachio cheesecake trifle. It was light, fluffy and full of flavor!! My cocktail was called Victoria's Secret. And it was devine!!! Can't wait to visit again.

Ambiance is great. Dark romantic night for couple. Service is great as well. I came here for happy hour and it's pretty popular for the weekends so definitely make a reservation! As for happy house lamb chops, the taste was so good but still had lamb smell and I still could taste it next day . I want to come back for steak next time. I tried so many steak houses here (those famous ones) still not impressed so I want to come back here for steak

HOLY GUACAMOLE! 10/10 from beginning to end. We were seated promptly (even 15 mins before our reservation), our server was on top of it. Always ensuring our water and drinks were full, checking on us, he knew the menu and made great recommendations. The ambiance is very moody and sophisticated. Highly recommend if you have a special occasion to celebrate or just like to have THE BEST steak ever on a regular ole week night.

First time trying this place and I was impressed. Everything from the service, ambience, food and desserts were amazing! I ordered the filet lignin and jalapeño Mac and cheese. I HIGHLY recommend the jalapeño Mac and cheese. It was bursting with flavor. If you're looking for a drink they have a great selection of drinks and drink menu to choose from. I did enjoy the sourdough bread that is given at the beginning. Paired well with the creamy butter. I recommend this place for a date night or a birthday or a special occasion.

Last night was date night for hubby and me. I made reservations for us to have dinner @kirbysprimesteakhouse. We had bought tickets for Lauren Daigle's concert. David and I both had wine. He had Benton Lane Pinot Noir, and I had a Malbec. David ordered the Angus Ribeye, and I had the Pan Roasted Sea Bass with lobster risotto. With both our entrées, it came with a choice of soup or salad. Both of us chose salads - Thousand Island dressing for hubby, and Ranch for me. The salad was a generous serving. David's ribeye was well-seasoned and so flavorful. My lobster risotto was fantastic. The sea bass was cooked perfectly, yet it lacked flavor. Nico brought a beurre blanc and it helped. We shared the feedback when the manager visited our table. He offered to remake the fish, but I didn't want that. He then offered a complimentary dessert. We chose the creme brulee.

The filet mignon was excellent. The baked fish was ok. The creamed corn was excellent. Mac & cheese not good. Mashed potato's were average. Creamed spinach, not good. Server, Jane, was a bit over zealous, but helpful. Cocktails were excellent. Highly recommend the pomegranate lemon martini. The soup of the day and the crab cake were excellent.

Took my best friend for his 47th birthday. Great service and food. I am horrible and forgot the nice woman who was our waitress. I believe is was Alexandria? Sorry. She had wing type eye make up. Great recommendations and knowledge of the menu and drinks. Steak was perfectly cooked. Sides were awesome. DESERT WAS KING. Sinatra Smash was a great drink.

The food was amazing! The staff were friendly and literally on top of things the entire time. My lamb chops were a bit undercooked and they quickly took them back, recooked them and even the manager came to ensure they were cooked to my liking. I've never seen that kind of attentiveness from a restaurant. 10/10 would recommend and I will be back!

BY FAR! One of the best steakhouses in San Antonio! If you have never been here, please hurry up! Ok, let me start with the ambiance, is elegant and warm, perfect for a date at night, but also is great for business meetings. I recommend to make a reservation, sometimes it is very busy. I like to seat at the booth tables at the bar, of course they have high top tables and open bar. My favorite server here is John, white, bald guy with this very well taken care long beard, if you get him, you are set! I love two appetizers here, the Lobster Cargot (OMG my mouth waters just thinking of it) careful because it's always steaming hot, it comes in a big plate with this creamy/cheesy white sauce and a side of freshly baked bread and the Grilled Baby Lamb Chops, delicious!! These lamb chops come in a dark sauce on a bed of mushrooms, You can't ever go wrong with these pair! I normally get a steak, with grilled asparagus or rosemary grilled zucchini and the lobster Mac and cheese, but this time I wasn't too hungry so I ordered this seafood salad John recommended me, and Oh if it was good! Light, tasty and refreshing. Oh! Almost forgot, I also got the Tequila Shrimp, it was good, but not my favorite. Drinks and wine list are amazing, you will find the perfect drink or glass of wine for your meal. Come and enjoy an amazing dinner here, you won't regret it!

Took my parents here for dinner because I wanted to treat them out. The food here was absolutely phenomenal. We ordered the 8oz and 10oz medium-rare filet mignon and the steak was cooked to perfection. The meat was so tender that it basically melts in your mouth. The baked potato was to die for. We also got the lobster risotto, which was one of the creamiest risotto I ever had. Great infusion of lobster flavor as well. They also did not cop out on the amount of lobster in the risotto. We finished the dinner off with pecan pie along with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream. My mom also ordered the seafood salad and let's just say they were also very generous with the portion of seafood in her salad. Overall, each dish was pricy (but reasonable for a mid upper scale steakhouse), but the portion sizes were excellent. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a upper scale dinner relative to what you normally eat. Parking was super easy. The restaurant is located in a parking lot with plenty of parking spaces.

Everything was season and cooked to perfection. The side of the Brandy Mushroom Sauce was a great addition to the steak. The Filet was soft, juicy, and just perfect in every bite. The Ribeye was full of flavor and overall was a very good steak. The shrimp was some of the best shrimp I've had. The seasoning was impeccable, it was juicy, and tasty. For sides, we had the Baked Potato and Broccoli. The potato was a 10/10 and you were able to add more or less of what you wanted with the do it yourself style. I loved it! The broccoli was cooked great it was just very saturated in a pool of olive oil. Finally, dessert was a huge highlight and I loved every single bite. We got the Triple Chocolate Double Fudge Brownie. Our twelve guests ranged in age from 14-79 years, and everyone had a wonderful experience. We began with waters for the table, soft drinks, and cocktails/mocktails (Man Walks into a Bar, Amba No. 5, Don Alberto, Green Shug Collins). Due to our large party, we had booked a chef's tasting experience, which was spectacular. The appetizers were plentiful, flavorful, and unique. Our server, Anissa, did a wonderful job of explaining each dish-- its components, highlights, even suggesting that after finishing the beef dumplings, we stir the oil and yogurt together for an amazing pita dipping sauce. Our meal included four meats-- actually five, considering an off menu chef's creation for our pescatarian guest. It was such an immersive experience, I never took out my phone to capture photos of the food (or our group, sadly). Three desserts topped off the evening. When (not if) we return, we'll certainly request Anissa again. She made the evening a complete delight, even bringing out celebratory candles for our honored guests.

Overall, I'd say most of the people in our group probably would not go back, but I don't necessarily think that was because the food was bad or lacking flavor. I think a lot of us just weren't very accustomed to Mediterranean flavor profiles and this style of dining. Most of us really enjoyed the dips, the meats, and the desserts. Those were definitely the standout parts of the meal for our group. Some of the dishes in between were a little more questionable for us personally -- we tried everything, but there wasn't necessarily one specific dish we completely fell in love with. That being said, the experience itself was amazing. The atmosphere was so cool and unlike anything we had done before. Being served course after course and getting to experience so many different dishes made the meal feel really unique and memorable. All of the staff members who waited on us were absolutely fantastic and so understanding of some of our questioning looks while trying unfamiliar foods. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the experience feel fun and comfortable from start to finish. If you already love Mediterranean food, this place may be right up your alley. I just think it's good to know what kind of flavor profiles to expect before coming, especially if you're newer to this type of cuisine. Overall, we still had a great time there.

Rich, comforting, and well executed. For mains, Raymond steered us in all the right directions: Mustard Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with warm fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, frisée, and herb oil - $30. Beautifully cooked and flavorful. Tomatillo Shrimp with grilled Gulf shrimp, white cheddar grit cake, and tomatillo butter - $28. Bold and delicious. Loretta Burger with crispy prosciutto, manchego, arugula, tomato, grilled red onion, and smash sauce on a brioche bun. Choice of fries or tots - $18 (some had tots, and one had fries - tasty). But at my age anytime you are over ground is the best occasion. I have heard it is real fancy. And it is. Do not come in Crocs and sweatpants. This is not that restaurant. It is that restaurant where you should make reservations. It is also a place that emphasizes presentation and service. We came right when it opened and we informed the hostess of our reservations. We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

For 73 years, The Barn Door has been more than a great restaurant; it has been an inexorable piece of San Antonio history. Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.

It's a sketchy area to walk behind the restaurant to the Speakeasy. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken fried ribeye, jalapeño twice baked potato. Now, the potato was great. I didn't care for the ribeye and didn't eat it. The salad was right out of the bag. Iceberg, shredded carrots and cabbage with 5 bagged croutons. What happened? It wasn't like that before. My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway. They used to have a 6oz ladies filet, but they don't. The server wasn't perfect, but we lived. IF I return, I'll skip the salad, get the filet and potato.
