The cream cheese is slathered on heavily and what makes this place even more of a gem? 3.76$ is the cost of my delicious bagel with flavored cream cheese. They sell more than just bagels. They sell deli items using all boars head meats and delicious bakery items .. like b/w cookies and cupcakes and brownie bars .. they have an extensive coffee menu. Delicious by the way.. This restaurant refuses to serve Postmates. We ordered from Postmates and when the delivery person got there, the restaurant refused to fulfill the order because it was through Postmates. Not sure why, but by the time he's there they should fulfill it and not waste our time and instead call and work with the company to have their restaurant removed from their app. Instead, they choose to waste the customer's time and refuse to accept the delivery person's payment. read more

This place has potential. It's in a convenient location with plenty of foot traffice. They try. But they havent quite arrived. The bagel selection is limited (How do you not have blueberry bagels?!) and it's not a place I'd want to dine in at. I'm going to tell you something and you better take my word for it. This place is better than Bergen Bagels. BETTER. Walk a few streets and change your life for the better! Why wait in line for mediocre service and predictable products when you can come here and get something as simple as a bagel or as awesome as a custom deli sandwhich. I've only lived in nyc for about a year, so maybe I don't have the credentials to talk about bagels, but I thought that these were some of the best I've had so far in the city. They're big and round, yes, but all of the ones that I've tried have been dense and chewy, not fluffy and bready like a fast food bagel. Also, I only ever order the scallion, but the assortment of cream cheeses (including vegan tofu cream cheese) is impressive. However, I haven't had much luck with the brownies and baked goods. They look so tempting, but the two that I've tried have been cakey and overly sweet. I'd also appreciate it if they stepped up their egg salad game. read more

These guys just opened a month ago and I've grabbed food there the past few weekends without complaint. I've had various bagels and wraps and they have nice cream cheeses such as avocado/onion/cilantro. The sandwich lineup is pretty nice and so far I can't stop eating the ABLT. Ok ok, so their bagels are rotund, but I wouldn't take 3 stars off for it. Enormous bagels are a fact of life in New York. Better to accept now than to live in a bitter bagelless world. First, let me say I usually like myrtle bagels and Kayla is quite wonderful. She is very attentive and makes your ordering experience a joy. I order the same thing every morning and know the total. Ordered today and the owner charged me $2.40 cents more and I saw him ring up something twice so I know he was trying to get over on me. When I told him the total was wrong, he did it over and this time charged me .50 cents more. I asked why and he said you have an Asiago bagel and the person who made the order told them I did not, I had a plain bagel. Not believing either of us, he opened up my bagel (which is inappropriate) and then said angrily "fine, here's your money!" I have a 0 tolerance policy for swindlers. If you think the best way to grow your business is by cheating customers then continue forth without my business. He was so pissed that he ripped my receipt in half and then gave it to me. Big selection and bagels gigantic but a little soft/puffy, don't quite have that proper New York bagel feel: no real crunch or chew when fresh. I used to like their whole wheat everything but they seem to have changed the recipe and now it tastes like it has barely any whole wheat flour in it at all. They seem to do a lot of delivery business so can be incredibly slow for a simple order even when you go in and there's no line. Some good weekend deals but otherwise overpriced (and they charge for delivery). For my money its worth the extra two blocks walk to bagel world on Dekalb: they are faster (even when crowded), friendlier, tastier/more authentic and even a little cheaper. read more

I wish they were a little more generous with the amount of cream cheese and butter they put on bagels, but that's just a minor quibble. It's your standard bagel-deli type place. I usually get a toasted garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese, cinnamon raisin bagel with butter, or a toasted garlic bagel with bacon and cheese, and of course, a large iced coffee, black. The bagels are big and doughy, with good flavor and texture. The staff are all friendly and quick. How long you'll have to wait is dictated by how crowded it is, with mornings, especially on the weekends, being the busiest time. read more

I have seen this before. Bagels that are shaped like a ball. Weird. Why would you make bagels in this shape? Maybe because you don't know how to make bagels? Good gluten and semi-chew mouth feel. Rainbow bagels! I have always passed by this place when I'm in the area and decided to get a bagel today. They have a BUNCH of cream cheese choices, but I got scallions. I was going to go with a plain bagel till I saw the rainbow one. Just a bunch of food coloring and taste the same but was too cool to pass up. The bagels are huge and yummy. That being said, to management- I have had 3 bagels here, and living 2 blocks away I really, REALLY dont want to walk down to Pratt to get a bagel at Bergen, but heres why I will. WORST cream cheese ratio ever. I wont even embarrass you with a picture of it, but each time it is so shabby, so pathetic that I dont even finish my bagel because Im choking it down dry. I even had them scoop out my bagel once to see if that made a difference. Nope. Again with the barely there spread. Hopefully this isnt the way youre trying to cut costs, and more an issue with attention to detail. I will try you again in the hopes that somehow this doesnt stay the case. SOOO glad a bagel place opened here. But a few things to note: 1. Other reviewers are right: the cream cheese to bagel ratio sucks. You have to ask for a little extra. Or, I order a dozen and a side of cream cheese and do it at home. 2. Why can't I order a dozen bagels on Seamless? They won't take phone orders either. I emailed Seamless too, no response 3. As some from restaurant ops, their order system bugs the shut out of me 4. BEST BAGELS. Better than my experiences at Bergen, Bagel World, and all the places in the city. I actually like myrtle bagels better than Bergen bagels. But please keep in mind, this is a review based solely on their bagels and nothing more. I usually buy my bagels for the week from here, and they are pretty consistent. I haven't had any issues with the taste or service. The only thing I would recommend , is that they need a little more order .I feel like there are always a bunch a people behind the counter , but it seems like no one is ever doing anything lol or there are never enough people and it's super busy. Since the management changed in 2017, this place has gotten unimaginably bad at everything. Every single order has been wrong, the cashier has a mega attitude, they're out of most bagels, close at whatever time they want and the bagels themselves? Basically basketballs with no flavor. I am usually a fan. Today I went in and was the only customer - there were three people working behind the counter. And still my bagel was burnt, top was burnt and inside was burnt. I didn't notice until I got back to my office. I would walk it back if I was closer than a ten min walk. Not pumped by the lack of attention to detail. I work in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the the food selection in the area is not very vast. That being said, I really like Myrtle Bagel and I'm a regular there. They are not the best but they are good! I love their iced hazelnut coffee - it's amazing! I'm not sure how they make the flavor so smooth, I even got a co-worker obsessed. Their bagels are HUGE and soft. The prices are average. In the spam of a few months, I've sample numerous sandwiches-- bagels with cream cheese lox and onions; pastrami, egg and cheese breakfast special; and a Rueben sandwich. Food is usually really good if you like food with a lot of flavor. They take a very long time if you order something different than what the people before and after you order. So if everyone is getting sandwiches and you order and omelette then your food comes out last. Also they have fresh juices that are good but they will make everyone else's coffee and teas before remembering to start what you ordered. Nothing is made in order. Nice people and a new business that I'd like to see succeed, so I'm going to give them 2 stars rather than 1. That said, these giant bagels are too sweet, heavy, and sit like a rock in your stomach. Good to freeze for caloric sustenance in the event of another Hurricane Sandy, but not at all fresh or fluffy tasting. They have a fine assortment of pastries--again, credit here for trying--but I was unimpressed with the rugelach. Too dense, just like the bagels. Myrtle Bagel is definitely more affordable, but I sooner recommend The Bagel Store in Williamsburg--fresh, fluffy, and good flavor. This morning I went to Myrtle Bagel for the first time after hearing great things but I had a horrible experience. The girl at the counter was nice but the owner was horrible. When one of the male workers went to get the plain bagel for my mother because of his height he had to reach above his head but it fell out of his hand, hit him in the face and rolled down his shirt, so I asked him to get a bagel that didn't touch him and the owner started yelling at me. My mother heard him yelling and came to see what was wrong when I told him what happened he called me a liar and started yelling liar at me. Then to make matters worse they still got my order wrong. I get that this place's focus is bagels but they have a great cold cut selection and could dramatically change the place with a revamped deli/sandwich focus. The juices are good but definitely overpriced particularly for the small size. And lastly, they frequently make mistakes on orders; recently after a long night of work I came in with a particular egg meal in mind i had been thinking about for hours and they simply fucked up what I clearly verbalized .
