My husband and I stopped with our two children because I'm a huge fan of the vampire diaries. We were seated right away and able to eat on the roof which had a great view of the square. Our waitress, Andrea, was just ok. She never brought us silverware(had to get our own from the bar) and when two different tables were seated around us who had the same waiter, she treated them completely different. I felt we were discriminated against because we were dining with our special needs child. Terrible experience! Food was just ok and very overpriced for what you get. My score for this location is based on the most important part which is the food. Let's start with the overall faculty. It's located in the center of town and there is free parking in front of the restaurant, if your lucky or a parking lot across the street. The ambience is great, and the place has a famous component, because this building was once the set of the Vampire Diaries. The restrooms and the facility were clean. My server Elaina was amazing! She was personalble and engaging. She was very easy to talk to and she provided some of the history of the restaurant and unique things to see while there. Let's talk about the food; I ordered the grouper sandwich with fries. There fries a good, crispy and hot, with a little potatoe flavor. The grouper (which I question if it was grouper), was very disappointing. It comes in a burger bun and has more breading than fish. The batter is thick and overwhelms the sandwich. All you taste is bread. Since the grouper is already being placed on a bun why would you bread it so heavily. Maybe to disguise the fact that there is very little fish in the $18. sandwich. The food came out quickly but waste not worth the $18 priced tag. The other food options were limited. This is a location you could avoid and not miss anything. I left still feeling hungry. I guess the appeal is that it was used in the Vampire Diaries movie. I hope the movie was better than my experience. read more

I was halfway though my burger- looking around for salt because it was lacking flavor when I realized they forgot the bacon on the bacon cheeseburger. I highly recommend you try this place, especially if you're a big fan of the movies that were filmed here in Covington, GA. I'm a big fan of Sweet Magnolias, so I was excited to visit and try the food. They were filming the series during the week, but unfortunately, I didn't have any sightings of Helen, Maddie, or Dana Sue. I loved how everyone made you feel at home once we were seated. The service was great, and the restaurant has a vibe like you're sitting in your Momma's house to eat a southern home cooked meal. The Damon pancakes were cute for my kids and they really enjoyed them for brunch. The pancakes were soft and pillowy, the bacon was crispy and the fruit was fresh. On 4/27/26 myself, my Daughter-In-Love and her Aunt met for dinner at Mystic Grill in Covington. This was our first time dining here. Her Aunt arrived first and they showed her to a table in a very high traffic area, so she asked to move to a more quiet area as we wanted to visit. So we asked for straws for our drinks and it took forever to get them. We then ordered Blackened Shrimp Alfredo, Glazed Salmon with Cranberry, Peacan Brown Rice and BroccolI And a Patty Melt. The food was cold, like not even like warm but cold, my salmon was over cooked with no glaze and the broccoli was so hard it could not be cut with the knife the provided. I HATE TO COMPLAIN! So we ate our food, as much as we could, enjoyed our visit and got our bills, this was with a smile. The first smile we saw. We paid our bills then I ask to speak with a management team member. HE came and listened to what we had to say, again we paid our bills first no asking for a comped meal, then he asked us to hang. So we hung tight for like 15 minutes and he never came back! We were all traveling and time was crucial so as we passed the hostess I told her to please relay we were sorry but didn't have time to hang around. I would not recommend this place at all! In our 3 day trip, we dined here FOUR TIMES! That should tell you how good it is! We did come here initially for the vampire diaries. However, we kept coming back because of the delicious food, kind and beyond helpful staff and the atmosphere! It's clear that even the locals love this place. Our trip was 10/16-10/19 and the Mystic Grill did a great job decorating for Halloween! We loved it! We dined on the rooftop the last night of our trip and, as Southern Californians, it was a bit cold for us! But we didn't mind, we had an awesome view of the Clocktower! I bet it would be awesome to do rooftop dining in late spring/early summer! We ordered fried pickles with every meal, they were by far our favorite thing on the menu that we tried! I ordered sweet tea fried chicken for my first meal, we did appetizers and dessert for the second meal, I got the fried chicken sliders for the third meal and the bleu cheese chicken pasta for my final meal! We also tried some of the themed cocktails and the slushees that you can order in souvenir glasses. The sweet tea fried chicken was amazing, the breading was well seasoned and the chicken was juicy and it was a sizable piece for the price! The mashed potatoes and garlic green beans on the side were to die for! I also really liked the gravy! The fried chicken sliders were pretty good! I liked the red pepper jelly on them! And the winder fries served with them were nice and crispy but fluffy on the inside. The bleu cheese chicken pasta was an unexpected favorite! I was a bit skeptical when I ordered it but wanted to give it a go! I am so glad that I did because it was delicious! The only thing I would change is to caramelize the onions further, they weren't very caramelized, just cooked. But that wasn't a deal breaker for me at all! It was pretty heavy as the sauce was really rich, so only order this if you're prepared for a big meal and maybe a nice nap afterwards! The staff were absolutely phenomenal! We loved interacting with them. We had great service each time we dined and some of the staff remembered us when we would return! Nice small town feel in the restaurant. Special shoutout to Jake! We met Jake the first night we dined at the Mystic because his coworker brought him over to answer all of our TVD questions! He is very knowledgeable! Mystic Grill honestly isn't a place I would normally go out my way to experience but I was treating a friend who is really into Vampire Diaries. I came with low expectations just because the target audience is tourists and the establishment is based on first come first serve. No reservations. As we arrived there was already a waitlist. Around 6pm on a Saturday. Hostest outside was very nice and patient. She took our information and told us our wait time, 30 minutes. Not too bad. As we waited we stopped by one of the souvenir shops nearby and grabbed a coffee at the bakery. It just so happened that once I received my coffee our table was ready. I explained to the hostest and she allowed me to bring it into the restaurant. Pretty much after that our experience was iffy. We were seated quickly and our server came to introduce herself and take our drink orders. We ordered water since we haven't looked at the menu yet.. She later comes back with our waters in one hand and goes, "here you go" pushing them towards us so we can take the waters out her hand. Then she left. That honestly left a bad taste in my mouth and was not a great first impression. Shortly after, our waitress came back and we placed our food and cocktail orders. We got the pimento cheese warm, fried meatloaf, fried chicken mac and cheese, pork chops, ribeye, and purple goat and mystic midnight cocktails. We received the warm pimento cheese dip fairly quickly. The crackers that the dip came with were very flavorful and we were happily munching on them even without cheese while waiting for the rest of our orders. Second we received our drinks and they were very sweet. They were very heavy on juice. I was expecting the purple goat to be a strong drink considering there are four spirits in it but it really just tasted like grape juice. We probably waited 30 minutes for our food order. Our waitress did apologize repeatedly which we appreciated. We weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind much. Now for the main courses.. Fried meat loaf was not appetizing at all and I love meatloaf. Figured having it fried would be a plus. Also to add, the green beans were a mix of obviously old and fresh beans. I'm going to assume they are batch pre-made and put under a heater. Fried chicken mac and cheese is a very misleading name and I wouldn't consider the dish an entrée. Firstly, the "fried chicken" was two bits chopped off a chicken tender. There's practically no fried chicken. Second, the cheese on top makes the dish look like you're about to dig into some cheesy goodness but the cheese is really just on top. Underneath that cheese layer that gets solid as it sits, is regular noodles in white sauce! I only took one bite of this and couldn't bring myself to touch it anymore after. Pork chop which was the main dish I had least hope for actually was the best entrée we received. The pork chop was well cooked, seasoned, and juicy. Sweet potato was not too sweet. Greens had a touch of vinegar. Definitely surprised by this dish. 13oz steak I honestly didn't even try because how it was presented. The steak was definitely overcooked. As the asparagus. Looks like a big steak but that's because it was less than an inch thick.. quality of the steak was poor as you can tell just by looking at it. The mash potatoes were like play dough. It was overall a very poorly executed dish as most of the others. Would I go back? I really don't want to. It's a neat place to visit once, if you're really into Vampire Diaries, but for the food and ambience.. I wouldn't recommend. They're milking the Vampire Diaries exposure but once people start forgetting about that, they're going to need to step their game up because they're serving some poor quality cafeteria food. read more

Our first time in this restaurant that is housed in a beautiful old building with great decor, three stories high and also a rooftop dining area. Apparently, several movies have used this restaurant to shoot their film in... Including steel magnolias. We got this information from our server. The room where we were in on the third floor had wooden doors instead of sheet rock. Very cool. I got the chicken sliders with cream cheese and red pepper jelly and they were really good. A cool combination of sweet and salty !! My husband got the Mystic patty melt and it was good but undercooked. He did not want the hassle of sending it back. He said it was good but not the best he's ever had. Our server was very nice. One weird thing is there are NO condiments on the tables .. not even salt and pepper... So the real attraction is the building- it is incredibly beautiful. Take a walk around and look at the pictures on the wall of the different celebrities that have been there, but most of all just take in the ambience and the beautiful architecture.
