Took 10 minutes to get the manager over and by that point, I had tried hers to make sure that it was actually terrible which it was. A manager comps our meal and gives us dessert for free, which was nice. Unfortunately, my friend and I got food poisoning and I'll spare you the details. I was disappointed in my latest visit with friends for lunch. Ordered a garden salad with pecans and then asked for added chicken. Salad was $15. ( I do not remember seeing the price of the added meat on the menu.) Salad was small and had about 3 oz of chicken on top. Barely enough for a meal. The check came and had $10 charged for the chicken - so a $25 +tax and tip meal that probably cost $5 to make. My friends had burgers and the Blue cheese chicken pasta which looked great and were large. They had at least half left over for a to go box. Their meals were $22. All of our food was cold or parts of it like the onion rings, fries, and chicken were cold. The burger was RAW. We sent it back and they sent it back on the SAME squished cold bun that was so soggy, and it was charred to heck--inedible. We finished our vampire diaries tour and came back to the town to eat! We were very hungry, and came to the mystic grill restaurant for a quick bite to eat! My girlfriend and I shared the mystic burger, which was served with fries. This burger was really well cooked, but there was nothing entirely special about it. She also had a drink off of the menu that I think was the Mystic drink (if not, it was definitely one of their sweeter cocktails) that she thoroughly enjoyed! It was nice sitting at the bar, but was tough to get service with the lunch rush and only one bartender. This place was great! My daughters took us to the area for the Vampires tour. For lunch we had the Fried Grouper Sand, a hamburger and the adult size Mac n cheese. All were yummy, but the Grouper was the star. The fries were also a highlight as they were these little wedge potatoes. Delish. The place itself is a cute little joint right in the main square. We sat outside and it was quite quaint. The attached gift shop had lots of items related to the Vampire Diaries. This is where my daughter bought a non-alcoholic "blood bag". That was actually juice in a blood type bag and you front it. She wished they had them at the restaurant, but they only had the ones with alcohol. The service was actually excellent. I live close to Atlanta and have thought about trying this place on outings that bring us out this way, but I often wondered if the hype was merely due to it being a filming location. I'm 39 years old, and whereas I spent many, many hours watching the Vampire Diaries a decade ago, all I really care about is getting my money's worth in good food. Took a trek out to meet some friends who had recently moved to the Eastern part of the state and decided to finally stop in. It was worth it!! The food, the atmosphere, and the service were all spectacular! We started off with a fried green tomato appetizer that was crunchy and delicious. I was hesitant about the shrimp and grits, but the server promised me they were good and not just a few skrimps tossed on top of a bowl of Quaker 5 minute grits. They were true stone ground southern style grits, thick and creamy. They could have tossed one or two more shrimps on, but it was a fine dish the way it came. My friend ordered a patty melt that was large with fresh beef, accompanied by sweet potato fries that were seasoned perfectly. The kids ordered tenders and fries, also great quality chicken, and they ate every bite. And since I still don't mind Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley's face showing up on my Instagram, I tried a Mystic Charmer with the Brother's Bond bourbon I've been hearing about. Visited on Sunday 2/25 and the service was overall decent I was somewhat deterred because upon entry the establishment has a "mop, moldy " smell and a 87 rating on the wall. I've worked in food industry and I know that smell lingers from a dirty mop being used ... I was seated upstairs immediately to the left at the small two seater table, right next to the window. I can't say enough nice things about this place. We stopped in for lunch and we were seated promptly. I wish I could remember our waitresses name because she is amazing and you can tell she loves her job. I got the grouper sandwich and my husband got a salmon caesar. Being a fan of Vampire Diaries, I had to visit Mystic Grill and it did not disappoint. Service was quick and everyone was very friendly. Our server was very personable, knowledgeable, and provided great recommendations. I had the shrimp fettuccini and it was flavorful and creamy. I believe the Mystic Grill must have new management. Been going there several years - about twice a year to meet friends for lunch. Always enjoyed the experience. New rules for sure-Chicken salad sandwich was a favorite. Yesterday, instead of being served on a croissant, it was white bread toasted on the grill- very few grapes and no nuts in the chicken salad and the chicken was full of gristle. Cute little restaurant in downtown Covington. Parking wasn't bad for us but I feel like it was the luck of the draw that we got a space right in front of the restaurant. It's street parking with a small parking lot in the back that's shared. The entry to the restaurant where you go to put your name on the list at the hostess stand is tight! And again, whether you are trying to enter to put your name on the list or claim your table once your called it's a tight squeeze, a long line of determining who's in line for what and finding your space, and minor chaos because of it. That really was my only discomfort. Once we were seated, the service and the experience was pretty good. We had to scan the barcode on the table for the menu. We ordered fried green tomatoes for the table, and I had a Caesar salad and the blue cheese chicken pasta. The food was pretty good. To be honest I tasted a tiny piece of fried green tomatoes because I don't care for tomatoes let alone the green ones. But it looked so good and seemed like it was fried so well. The breading had a decent taste. My sister loved them. The blue cheese chicken pasta was totally out of the ordinary for me. The blue cheese had a strong taste, but the bacon and chicken kind of balanced it out. It was really cheesy. The Caesar salad was definitely just your typical Caesar. My sister ordered the sweet tea chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes. I had some of her food as we swapped a little to taste each of the dishes. The mashed potatoes were tasty and the chicken breast was fried well. It was crispy and lightly breaded. The green beans had a lightly seasoned taste. Charming, two level restaurant in the heart of historic Covington. The place oozes history and has a way of transporting you back in time. I had the Sweet Tea Fried Chicken which comes with Yukon mashed potatoes and a generous portion of fresh green beans. I didn't taste any sweet tea in the fried chicken recipe, but it was a good - a thick yet tender boneless chicken filet covered in crunched cornflake-like coating. What a treat! This was my first time visiting "Mystic Falls" and I HAD to try this place. It doesn't look like the tv show inside so head ups but this is a must stop place while in town. The wait was long so I opt for the bar instead of a table since I was alone ( if you a big group I say stop by an hour or so before you want to eat to put your name down). I ask a local for a suggesting and they recommended the O'Hara burger. I was nervous but OMG the burger did not disappoint. It's was soo good with the side of fries. I did order it without the ketchup jam but they made a mistake and put it on. I tasted it and decided to keep it as is. I would highly recommend definitely getting everything on the burger cause it all comes to together so well. Of course I also got the brothers bourbon I did mine with Coke and it was a great addition to my burger. S/O to Angie for being a great bartender. Although I went by myself I never felt alone. A group of 4 of us stopped in Covington, GA, on our way from Atlanta to Charleston, SC. One person in our group is a fan of Vampire Diaries, and, because this restaurant and many parts of Covington can be seen in episodes of Vampire Diaries, she wanted to eat at Mystic Grill Restaurant, see the gift store and little museum below the restaurant, and see Covington Square. We got to Mystic Grill at about 6 pm on a Friday evening. Parking was available in a free public parking lot close to the back side of the restaurant. Our group got put on the waiting list and we were told that the wait time would be abut 30 minutes, which is how long we actually did wait. To fill in the time, we visited The Alley Gift Store and the museum, both of which had lots of Vampire Diaries-related items to purchase and to look at and take pictures with. While we were downstairs, we received a text notifying us that our table was ready, so we hurried back to the restaurant. Our hostess was very welcoming and all smiles as she greeted us, then walked us to our table not too far from the entrance door, and gave us menus. The dinner menu is not busy, thank you, Mystic Grill. I actually hate when a menu is so busy that it takes at least 15 minutes to read everything. I ordered the sweet tea fried chicken. The other three ordered the sweet tea fried chicken, the chopped salad and the fried chicken mac & cheese. While we waited for our meals, our fried green tomato appetizer was served. Slices of fried green tomatoes were stacked onto each other, with layers of house pimento cheese separating each slice and a generous amount of the cheese placed on top of the stack. The stack was placed on top of a mild tasting tomato jam. The slightly salty batter was crunchy and the tomatoes were on the firm side. This appetizer was delicious! The chopped salad presentation looked great, with iceberg lettuce, bleu cheese, cucumbers, bacon, tomatoes mixed together and bleu cheese dressing on the side. The two sweet tea fried chicken dinners, with Andouille sausage red eye gravy, Yukon potato mash and green beans looked fantastic. Lastly, the fried chicken mac & cheese with cavatappi, fried chicken breast, smoked Applewood bacon and cheddar béchamel also looked great, served in a little cast iron skillet. The sweet tea fried chicken dinner was delicious! The chicken breast was crispy crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The batter itself was kind of plain tasting, so it was good that gravy was poured onto the chicken. The potatoes were good, and the green beans were nicely cooked, having a slight crunch to them. The others said that their meals were good, although R said that his fried chicken breast was dry. Portions were nicely sized. Service was very good throughout our dinner. Water glasses were refilled as needed, and our server checked on us periodically to ask us how our meal was and to see if we needed anything. The restaurant interior and the decor is beautiful. Wood, brick and stone are the three most predominant materials inside. The restaurant was very busy while we were there, and I believe all three levels (first, second and rooftop) were all full of customers. We had a very nice dining experience here. read more

It's located in the cute little town center of Covington, minus a few too many tourists snapping pics in front and on the side, I really liked it here. A place that represents every place is an intriguing concept. After all, the town of Covington does represent any small town in America, but thanks to its beauty and Georgia's incentives for the movie industry, it is an image featured in countless films and shows. Sometimes it's Virginia, sometimes elsewhere, but it is always Covington. Mystic Grill happens to be as touristic of an attraction as it gets, filling the walls with signed photos by actors and a place of many sets. What is surprising is that despite all of that, the food here is pretty darn good. The O'Hara burger was made with very high quality and juicy beef, excellent pimento cheese and oddly, a fried green tomato on top the burger. The latter was an odd decision, but despite that, the package worked and was extremely satisfactory. The side salad was fresh. Smoked chicken Mac and cheese served on a cast iron skillet is a wonderful and as expected, wholesome dish. Thus, coming here for a tribute to a show or a film is an experience of sitting in it, but being able to enjoy truly delicious food on top of that is the cherry on top the cake. read more
