I visited here a couple of months ago. The hostess sat me right away. I sat there for at least 10 minutes. Another couple was seated and had their order taken while I waited and waited. They were not busy at all. I finally asked their server to take my order, but she said I wasn't in her section. (I was seated at the table right next to them.) I asked her to get my server - lo and behold, my server was the one who seated me. What?? I ordered the hamburger on Texas toast, which was brought out by a kitchen staff. The bread was soggy with grease and needed seasoning, the fries were a bunch of thinly-sliced fried potato peelings. I could've salted my food but the salt shaker was completely empty. I finally saw the hostess/server when she brought my check. Not wheelchair friendly at all. Which is illegal. We'd love to go eat there but until they put in a ramp and allow for a person in a wheelchair to get in and then maneuver once inside, it's a big no for us. read more

When you first get there, you are taken aback by the fact that it is a normal looking house instead of some big brick building sitting there looking at you. However, the service was quick and friendly with everyone we came in contact with, the food was absolutely delicious and affordable. They had a great sweet tea and great home-cooked menu items. Good Quality Food. Simple Small Menu. Freshly Prepared Items. My only issue is the poor "packaging" of to go or take out food. The Styrofoam Boxes do not have sections. All the Food runs together. And they pack hot items with chilled items. By the time my hubby got my to go order home, for me to enjoy, my 8oz. Hamburger Steak had absorbed the Cole Slaw 'juice', my Sweet Potato Tots were soaked in the Cole Slaw 'juice' and the Cole Slaw itself was warm from being contained wth the hot items. It tasted spoiled. So please ask and specify to Tava's to kindly separate the cold items from hot items on the To Go and Take Out orders. No one wants to eat hot Cole Slaw or Soggy Food. Tavas Diner is a good place to eat. The beef there is great. Hand cut fries, a great salad. I only have one thing I do not agree with. They charge you their fee they get charged from their credit card machine company. Up charge of 3.99% if you don't use cash. So take cash!! Or let them know you don't agree with them charging customers their fees. Fees owning a business is part of it. It would be best to offer cash payments only. Don't pass your fees to your customer. On your receipt you will see a charge non taxable. My fee last night was .47. read more

Unfortunately I can't really speak to the quality of the food, only the service, or lack thereof. I tried to have lunch this afternoon but wasn't successful. I stood and waited to be seated for a good solid 10 minutes. No one helped me, no one spoke to me, no one told me if I should seat myself, nothing. There are no signs, and the layout is kind of odd, as the building is an old house, so I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. This place is excellent. I got the wings and they were fresh and done right! I also love the real homestyle fries. They were like home cooked. I will deffinatly be back to try the other items.
