Everyone there is so awesome!!! Visiting my son in Groton,went to Mystic to window shop and explore. Picked up a pizza for my adult son. Had a health scare and they were amazingly supportive! They were so kind to me today! They are good solid hardworking people! They stayed with me until firefighters and EMT showed up! And they were experienced and kind!! I will never forget everyone's kindness and generosity.. They knew I was vegan and gave me raspberries and a peach and water! They kept offering orange juice and other things to be sure I was okay and not be dizzy and faint again. They really helped me a lot. I appreciate them so much! The firefighters and EMT were so efficient and helpful and kind to me! The EMTs even walked me to my car and held my son's pizza!! This entire group of individuals was so awesome. I will never forget their treatment of me. I also appreciate the one customer who came back to check on me. She was so nice. Also, my son said the pizza was delicious! And Fire! I've been coming since 1989, after the movie but before they expanded. In my mind it went from legendary in the beginning to not very good in the 2000's to surprisingly great again today. I don't mean Frank Pepe's great, but really excellent. And it's still a slice of history. Also - extra credit for letting you not just do toppings on half, but halves of speciality pies. If you've seen and loved the movie "Mystic Pizza," this place is a must-visit. The walls are covered in framed stills from the movie and other memorabilia. The hosts and our server Mike were great- very friendly and attentive. We liked how the menus offered some backstory on the restaurant, and the upstairs TV had the famous movie playing on a loop. They even sell t-shirts that have the exact same graphic as the workers in the movie, as well as other merch, all at reasonable prices. The pizza is ultimately lackluster. If you're a fan of the movie, Mystic Pizza is absolutely worth visiting. Half the fun is soaking up the nostalgia and checking a classic destination off your list. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly clean the restaurant was. Everything was spotless and sparkling, which made a great first impression. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was bubbly, cheerful, and wore the biggest smile the entire time we were there. She checked on us often without ever being intrusive and genuinely made us feel welcome. As for the food, I think Mystic Pizza sometimes gets an unfair reputation. Is it the best pizza I've ever had? No. But it's definitely good .... you just have to order the right things. The seafood pizza was surprisingly delicious and one I'd happily order again. One thing I would skip, however, is the garlic knots. Unfortunately, they were so hard they were difficult to eat. The only other suggestion I'd make is to update some of the movie posters. Many have become sun-faded over the years, and replacing them would really brighten the space and enhance the nostalgic atmosphere. Overall, don't come expecting the greatest pizza of your life. Come because it's an iconic piece of movie history with friendly service, a spotless dining room, and a fun atmosphere. If you keep those expectations in mind, I think you'll leave happy. I wouldn't have necessarily chosen to go here, but my friend really wanted to go. I am glad we did. We sat at the counter and had a slice. I was grateful they sold pizza by the slice, as we had just enjoyed a GIGANTIC lunch. It is probably overpriced, but the girls working here that day were so very sweet and nice to talk to. I know it is iconic, but honestly I'm not sure I've ever really seen the whole movie in all its glory. Convenient location at the end of the Mystic main drag. Lots of people, but we had no problem getting a seat. They were kind enough to give me a refill of my Diet Coke to take with me. A day trip today for a pizza? Yep! We drove the 100+ miles to Mystic, Connecticut to visit Mystic Pizza! Really terrific pie! The place was jamming! We were lucky to get a place to sit in the bar area. We prefer that so we can kabitz with the bar tender. We both ordered their Iced Tea. It had great flavor! We opened with Cheesy Garlic Bread. It was served with marinara and totally delicious! For our meal we ordered their Seafood Pizza and a Meatzza Pizza. They both came out relatively quickly and were absolutely amazing! I can see why CT is the pizza capital of the US. I'm a harsh critic when it comes to pizza and I can say I absolutely will miss this pizza now that I'm back on the west coast. From what their menu says, a writer based her story-which eventually was made into a film with Julia Roberts in 1988, on this place, whilst summering in Mystic, Connecticut. As a ny'er im biased because i know we have the best pizza but that being said it was still fun to come here and the pizza and experience itself was really great. Our waitress melainey was wonderful, especially when my dad ended up experiencing low blood sugar. Mystic Pizza holds such a special place in my heart. This was one of the last places I visited with a group of my girlfriends during a weekend trip to Mystic, and it meant a lot to finally experience a spot tied to one of my favorite movies. We ordered onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and, of course, the pizza. Everything felt so nostalgic from start to finish--the atmosphere, the food, even getting a picture with the Julia Roberts poster upstairs. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and seating us at the top of the restaurant made it feel even more memorable. Looking back, this visit is something I'll always carry with me, especially in memory of a dear friend who has since passed. The ambiance is perfect! The original restaurant is still in tact from the movie AND they've added a bar upstairs just recently. It's welcoming, the staff is great, and it feels like home. Where else would I go for pizza in Connecticut! They have their own beer too. So, "fanboying" a bit here. I loved the movie, so keep that in mind when you read this. I was in town and the group wanted something to eat and they decided on this little spot because it had great reviews. Since this place had a tie in with the movie Mystic Pizza, they had the movie running in the place which was really nice. However, I never saw the movie and neither of my group did either. I found the atmosphere very comforting with families having a great time talking and enjoying meals. Their was a line for people to get in which is always a good sign. My table had ordered pizza, wings, drinks. Since I came late I ordered a Salad and a bowl of clam chowder. When the pizza came it was a good size pizza one was a meat lovers and the other was pepperoni. By the time I got my order they had almost killed the first pizza and the meat lovers was going down for the count. I was able to get two slices but I had to hit it quick. The pizza was a work of art. Rich thick flavor sauce that you can tell was freshly made with home ingredients that made me think they actually pick up the vegetables that very second to make this fresh hot pizza. The bite on the slice was juicy but not oily like some pizza. My only negative was that I could not get another slice to save my life. My salad was a Caesar Salad that was so big. I shared it with my wife and sister in law. They enjoyed it. that bowl it came it was almost as big as the table. We were having an issue because the pizza's and the other dishes we had ordered made space on the table very limited. My star of my meal was the Clam Chowder. OMG. This one was the best Chowder I have ever had outside of Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco. Rich and thick. Spot on. I only wish they served it in a bread bowl like on the docks in Frisco. My family and I visit your restaurant every summer and have always enjoyed the pizza. However, during our visit a few weeks ago, we had a highly disappointing experience on the upper deck outdoor patio. While dining with my husband and children, we witnessed inappropriate behavior from one of your waitresses. She had reddish hair in pigtails, a tattoo on her arm, and was wearing a very short white skirt. When she bent over to wipe down a table right next to ours, her attire completely exposed her undergarments and private areas in front of my children and the other families eating outside. The pizza here was incredible. The crust was doughy, but crunchy. The toppings were fantastic. They had a lot of fun specifically pizzas to choose from, we had a hard time making a decision! I always love a pizza place where you can sit down and have an actual meal (I hail from the takeout pizza Mecca.) They have a full bar and a good cocktail menu. We were in town for an event, and decided to try Mystic Pizza. Our expectations were not elevated because of the novelty and hype. The pizza was amazing! The pizza crust was baked a beautiful lightly brown color. It was delicate, tender and crispy all at once. Every time we visit mystic Connecticut we come by here so I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place already, especially since we do love it here, but today was the best experience ever. We went at 9pm and there was no wait especially since they have lots of seating and an upstairs area too. There is a public parking right across if you can't find street parking and when you come from a city like Boston, the prices for parking are really cheap. Now one of the first things I look for at restaurants is if they bring water when you sit. Here they didn't, however when I order my soda I ask for no ice and most of the times whoever is serving us forgets, but our waiter didn't forget.. and not just that but when I asked one of the servers passing by for a refill and said no ice, they paid attention and I was sure they wouldn't because no place ever gets that right. So servers there are good. For food we ordered the Yiayias secret pizza, Buffalo wings and Cajun fries. They fries were better than at most places but not what stood out. I was really impressed with the wings which were some of the best wings I've had. Same goes for the pizza. Originally when the wings came and I was eating so many that I felt I wouldn't be able to finish the pizza and regretted that we had asked for the large. But when I tried the pizza I was happy we got the large as I would take the leftover pizza home. Always love stopping by there when we visit mystic Connecticut and now I have a new favorite pizza. We visited the Coast Guard Academy for homecoming weekend and had to make a stop at the iconic Mystic Pizza. We were short on time and chose to order online & planned to eat it in the car, but thankfully it was slow at that hour and we were able to eat it in-house instead. I had wrongly expected it to be New Haven style with a charred thin crust, but instead it was doughy with a nice golden brown crust with plenty of cheese and fresh toppings. Overall, the pizza was fair and it was a fun visit, but we'd likely choose another location for our next pie. The pricing for their speciality pies seemed pretty excessive and we were glad we chose instead to made our own. read more

I finally got to this iconic pizza place in Mystic! I went on a summer Saturday so the place was packed but we were able to get a seat right away. The place is huge with two floors and an outdoor deck. We got a small House Special pizza and fried calamari (not pictured). The food arrived fairly quickly amid the crowd. But I was already back at my hotel, so wasn't about to go back. I was excited to try the fried calamari, but unfortunately had a salad, instead. With Honey Mustard Dressing. WTF. lol I also was excited to try the "house" (I can't remember the name) pizza.. with some veggies and meatball on it. But I got just a plain cheese pizza with meatball. The salad was very basic. But I did like the pizza. It was VERY cheesy. And I would want to try it again whenever I'm in town. It felt like it was somewhere between a classic crust pizza and a "pan" pizza. I can't give them 3 stars, because it's my own fault for not checking the order. And despite it being wrong, the people inside were very nice! I watched the movie when I was a little girl and I said that one day I would go there... today was the day! It was a unique experience and it was nostalgic to eat at a pizza place that still looks like the pizza places from the 80s and early 90s. Amazing customer service our waitress was so sweet. My son accidentally spilled his drink all over the table and she came right over help clean it up and didn't make a fuss about it. The garlic cheesy bread was probably my favorite item that I had today. The fried artichoke hearts were good as well. My Hawaiian pizza was OK. The pineapples on it taste different. It's not what I was used to, but the crust on the pizza was probably the best crust I've ever had. My son ordered a pizza burger and he was not a fan. My other son ordered a chicken sandwich and he loved it. My husband ordered the house Pizza and he liked it and he said the crust was amazing and he never eats crust. I'm so glad that we got there before the rush. We've driven past it before and we've seen lines outside and because I have a disability I prefer not to stand in lines for food so I was happy that I didn't have to stand in line. I also love that this place has a handicap bathroom separate from the men and women's bathroom, which is amazing. I'm sure we've all heard of Mystic Pizza before. This nostalgic pizzeria rose to fame after inspiring the 1988 American romcom itself. We were on our way to Rhode Island and were passing through the area. It's always a hit or miss with hyped up places... and we're from an area that has easy access to NY style pizza. Sooooo we didn't want to get our hopes up too high... The pizzeria is located on the corner of Main Street. Parking can be difficult, but we were able to find a spot a few minutes away. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered. The dining areas are decorated with memorabilia from the movie. They sell pizza by the pie (small or large) or by the slice (close to $4-$5 each). They have all of your classic toppings as well as specialty ones. In addition to pizza, there's also salads, appetizers, sandwiches, calzones, and burgers. Prices are steep - I'm guessing it's partially due to the large number of tourists. You pay for the name. Since we had dinner plans later on, we only ordered pepperoni & cheese slices. The pizza came out hot and super cheesy. The cheese was the best part - gooey and sweet. The sauce was lacking and I couldn't taste much of the seasoning. The crust was thicker and more on the doughy side - it reminded me of Pizza Hut or Domino's. I'm a thin crust kind of gal. Overall, the pizza was good, but not great. I wouldn't say it was a memorable slice. If you're in the area, it might be worth a try. It might float your boat. But I don't think it's worth going out of your way for. As a teen some time back, I came with my high school buddies and found the pizza underwhelming. BUT now? It was fantastic! If I still lived in the area it would be one of our go-tos for pizza. Decor was, of course throwback with lots of nostalgic memorabilia adorning the walls. 80s music set the atmoshphere, faithful to the history. The pizza was great. Our rather large group of world travelers was impressed by the crust. It was cooked properly with light crispiness on the edges. I felt the flavors and combonations were well balanced. The sauce was not overwhelming like many pizza joints but flavorful. We opted for the Meatza Pizza, a pepperoni, and Yaiya's Secret. They were all very good. Usually I have a stand alone favorite- not this time. The Meatza was such that one could taste the individual flavors but as a very tasty medley. The Yaiya's was a pleasant surprise of a little sweet with a touch of heat. Even my daughter who seldom likes a "just cheese" pizza, found it out of the ordinary and really enjoyed it. The pepperoni was cooked the the way I like it, with that little bit of crispiness around the edges. For an extra touch, their own Mystic draft beer is a great refreshing pale ale.
