Food here is probably a 4 but have to give a 1 star for their shady practice. To preface, I came in with a group of 7 and our pre-tax bill was around $100, after tax bill was like $110, and then they added a 18% gratuity, so the total bill was $130. The business provides 2 receipts, a merchant copy and customer copy. The customer copy was taped behind the merchant copy, so you can't really see it unless you tear the receipts apart to really take a good look at it. The merchant copy does not itemize and break down the total, but only displays the total amount of $130, and then suggested tips below that. The customer copy is the only receipt that has the breakdown and shows the added gratuity. My issues with the business are: 1. They don't notify you that they are tacking on a gratuity if your party is 6 or more. You only find that out if you look on the customer receipt 2. The merchant copy does not show that you've already paid the gratuity. So most people probably put in a tip not knowing they've already paid that. 3. The suggested tip on the receipt is based on the after tax amount, not the pre tax amount. Why are they expecting tip on the tax is beyond me. 4. The suggested tip amounts start from a ridiculous 18%. I think they also show the amounts 21% and 24%. Ultimately, if I didn't look into the customer copy, I wouldn't missed all this. The suggested 18% tip on the bill of $130 is $23.40. So hypothetically, if I paid this, my bill would be $153.40 on a $100 pre tax bill ($43.40 total tip). That's a 43.4% combined gratuity/tip on a $100 bill. Insane. To recap, I liked the food but this scummy practice has got to go. read more

The good: There's dumpling you should know about me: fried chicken is my guilty pleasure. I ordered a whole fried chicken for $22 and some "dim sum." The whole fried chicken was a little pricier than I expected but it was still an okay price. It was more than enough to feed two people. I thought the dim sum would be a variety of different types of dim sum items but it was just one. It was steamed dumplings with meat and veggies inside. I liked the vinegar based dipping sauce that came with it. The dumplings had a great presentation. The chicken wasn't as salty as I was expecting it to me. I think it lost deliciousness due to it being a delivery order. It may have benefitted from being better ventilated. The chicken wasn't hot when it came and it was less crunchy. I enjoyed the sweet and sour pickled radish and jalapeno that came with it. I liked that the meat wasn't dry and that the batter outside of the chicken wasn't too thickly dredged on. It also didn't completely fall off like some coatings do. The dumplings were very uniform in appearance. The bad: There was sauce all over the bag but that may be due to the delivery driver rather than the restaurant. A dipping sauce for the chicken would have been great. I've had better Korean fried chicken in terms of flavor and sides but this place is most known for their dumplings. The interesting: Their website says dine-in and phone take-out order prices may differ. They do offer curbside pickup. read more

Provender: this is a great Korean fried chicken joint in the valley that also serves dumplings and other items, like soups and fried rice. Korean fried chicken is different than your usual fried chicken - the batter is thinner and it has a unique taste to it that's best tried for oneself. Prices: dumplings are around $10 and a half order of the fried chicken is around $13. Parking: there's plenty of parking, although the surrounding units all share the same parking lot. People: fun for all, but no indoor seating because of covid. Perks: the dumplings are well made. I ordered the steamed dumplings (No. 7) and half order of the original fried chicken. So we ended up in the valley and wanted to take home some warm food after Haunt-o-ween. After reading other reviews and their picture we decided on this place, way out of the way for a Korean restaurant especially dumplings. We ordered the shrimp dumplings. Kim chi dumplings a chicken. Overall the chicken was decent but that was the extent, the shrimp dumplings were chock full of black pepper and not the good type of spicy. It basically just burned, borderline inedible. The kimchi dumplings had the look but none of the taste, we think they may have used the kimchi juice as flavoring and not actual kimchi inside the dumplings. Overall it's 2 star maybe 2.5 at best. I'll stick to ktown for dumplings or even pulmuone kimchi dumplings at home. read more

We got numbers 3, 8 and 12. I think 12 was my favorite but ugh in reality I loved it all! Especially when you consider that they are supposedly "frozen dumplings." THEN they give you kimchi, which is suuuuper good and they give you picked radish with jalapenos and omg I had the whole dish of this! Overall, totally great! Wow...pretty disappointed at this restaurant experience. Anthony Bourdain's experience is way in the rearview mirror. No remnants of what he described. That pancake scallion was so so tough. No amount of sauce could help. The rest of our meal-chicken, dumplings and their "salad sides" were completely flavorless. The only thing i was 100% disappointed in was the green onion pancake for which i deducted a star bc it is THE WORST pajeon i have ever had in my life. I've gotten take out here a couple times and generally everyone enjoys it. The soy garlic chicken is very tasty and the skin is so crispy and delish. Also love their big fat steamed buns (called dumplings here) - the bun is so soft! The other items we get (dim sum, pan fried dumplings, spicy shrimp dumplings) are OK but not mind blowing. The true winners (for us anyway) are the steamed buns and fried chicken. read more

honestly the food here is quite lackluster I'm surprised this place has such good reviews on Yelp... I came here expecting some really good dumplings since this place has a 4.5 star rating, but the food was so average. the spicy shrimp dumplings weren't bad, but really not that special. it would've been better if the dumpling skin was thicker/ had a bite to it the dumpling soup- the broth was good and probably my fav part since I like a good broth that has a subtle yet hearty flavor. the dumplings in it were v mediocre I wasn't a huge fan of the filling. I wouldn't recommend the pancake, it was dense and lacked flavor. The dumplings had pretty thin wrapper, which is something I didn't like but my husband really liked! So depends on your preference. We ordered the Kim chi steamed dumplings, the pan fried dumplings and the red bean paste dumplings, along with scallion pancakes and fried rice. Highlight for me was definitely the Kim chi dumpling, followed closely by the pan fried dumplings. Even my daughter, who is a year and a half old loved the food (especially the red bean paste).
