4/28/26 After a nearby group walk, a friend of ours brought food from the Great Harvest Bread in Kailua. I've never eaten or been there so this review is based just on the food. I had a classic breakfast sandwich which consisted of their own baked bread, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, and bacon with their garlic herb butter. It's cooked panini style or looks more like a fancy grilled cheese sandwich. It was very good. I usually have tomatoes with a lunch sandwich so having tomatoes in a breakfast sandwich was different. But, the combination of all the ingredients was delicious. The tomatoes were firm and not soggy, the bacon was just right crispy, and the cheese melted nicely onto the eggs. Takeout lunch from Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i... After my 5-star experience at the Kahala location of Great Harvest Bread, I wanted to compare it to the Kailua location... Wow... I thought that it couldn't get better, but it did! The Kailua location of Great Harvest Bread has free street parking; has friendly service that also offered me a sample of the Monkey Bread; and also had high quality products. What makes it different from the Kahala location? This Kailua store seems bigger, brighter, has better air-conditioning; and has a few tables and chairs for dining in (or for waiting for your sandwich to be made). The gal behind the counter was very competent. She managed three customers at the same time by herself! I arrived first, so I got more of her attention. She told me about the Monkey Bread and sold me a mini loaf which breaks apart into three pieces. They weren't wrapped up yet because they were cooling off... that's how fresh they were! I told her that I really wanted a Ruben sandwich for my sister (who is obsessed with it) and saw that it was hand-written into the menu - the Kahala location didn't have it written. She asked me what kind of bread I wanted... that's when I decided to get a second Ruben - to compare the bread: Honey Whole Wheat vs. Rosemary Garlic. The verdict: both were excellent! We love all of their breads (especially the sourdough and rosemary/garlic), along with their Monkey Bread, Kulolo Teacake and the sourdough Asiago rolls. Sandwiches are also good and nicely filled. What is disappointing to me (and keeping me from giving them 5 stars) are their scones. Don't get me wrong . . . they're very tasty, one scone is a generous size, and we definitely enjoyed eating them (blueberry and cinnamon cream cheese) but they're just not very scone-like. They are soft and moist . . . much more cakey in texture like a muffin than a true scone. Log into their website and create an account because their rewards program is very generous and you'll find yourself earning a free loaf in no time. The staff here is always friendly and even when it's busy, they always have time for a hello, a thank you and a smile. This Kailua location seems well stocked for just walk in purchases, but I love that you can also order online if you don't want to take the chance they might be out of something you might be counting on getting. read more

A Scones Search has suddenly began, and the first stop is Great Harvest Bread in Kailua. It did not disappoint! Located along Hekili St., at the end of a strip mall, next to Kono's. It's next to the parking entrance behind the building. Free street parking is also available. Inside is clean and bright with your array of baked goods with a nice variety of breads, scones, muffins, sandwiches, and etc. Their Kulolo items are unique! The person at the front was very friendly, patient, helpful, and had a pleasant demeanor that made you feel welcomed and comfortable. The Kulolo Muffin was the best thing we had. Crunchy crust, toasty coconut strips outside, soft inside with good taro flavor, and perfect amount of rich- and sweetness. Blueberry Cream Cheese Scone was excellent. Huge size! Solid amount of blueberries, and most importantly, just the right amount of cream cheese and sweetness. Strawberry Matcha Cream Cheese scone was excellent too! Solid matcha flavor with a good amount of strawberry and cream cheese. The Bacon Cheddar Chive biscuit (this can be a scone too!) was good. Nice amount of bacon. Just enough cheddar. Didn't really catch any chives. It was rich, but not too heavy. Overall, I enjoyed everything. All were prepared very well. Prices were reasonable. Excellent service. First time visiting this establishment. I was excited because my friend purchased some delicious muffins a while back. Since I was in the area I decided to stop by. The female working clearly seen my daughter and I waiting to purchase a couple items. We waited almost 5 minutes before she tended to us. The muffins were delicious but probably will not return. It's obvious customers are not a priority. Especially after reading other reviews. read more

I always stop in here when I'm in Kailua. Their small bites are pretty tasty- I'd give 4 stars. I always pick up a loaf of sourdough and seem to forget I just don't like the recipe. It's the only fresh sourdough I can never seem to eat a full loaf. The service is always terrible. Every time I go into this location I somehow seem to be disturbing the girls behind the counter. No hello, just a long stare, and if I ask for a recommendation between a couple of the daily stuffed treats I get a response that is indifferent. Where is the aloha? I went here yesterday after having lunch in the area and ordered some of their baked goods. They have sourdough bread, cookies, and other baked goods. We ended up getting their cranberry chip bread and Kulolo teacake which has similar consistency to banana bread. Both were delish! There is nothing like fresh bread and Great Harvest does an exceptional job of providing it. We loved their Rosemary Garlic, Monkey Bread, Cheddar Garlic all are delicious breads. Gonna pick up more bread today for some sandwiches for a picnic. read more

Love love love that they mill their own flour!! Wish I knew that before I bought my countertop stone mill!! LOL. Quite alright since I want to mill Einkorn. I love that I can get fresh milled wheat and fresh bread cooked with it. I know I'm getting all the nutrients when I'm eating their products. I like getting the honey whole wheat sliced bread. I also love the getting their pumpkin chocolate chip muffin and their little sausage wrapped in sourdough bread. Just one is a great snack. Knowing I'm getting the full benefits of the grain is awesome. I have yet to try a sandwich from them. I need to do this sooner than later! read more

Nothing like the smell of freshly baked... Love seeing Great Harvest Bread in Kailua offering not just amazing varieties of hearty bread and it's loaded as I tried picking up a loaf surprised how heavy they were which I can just imagine having them as a sandwich which they do also offer as well which I've forgotten and have already had lunch elsewhere and stopped by here for a breakfast bite as working on a holiday is something I do need to be prepared for. Sandwich is served all day with last call 30 minutes to closing using their honey whole wheat or the bread of the day which is all scratch made already has me drooling with excitement and not to be missed on my next visit. I did stop by late in the day as I forgot the various errands I had in Kailua but they still have a few items available like their Banana Muffin which is huge so I grabbed two...one to share. I just want to leave this review because I had an amazing experience with customer service at harvest bread today. Their service is exceptional. I met this young lady named Mariah. She's very nice. Offered me samples and convinced me to buy five breads they were all very delicious. Very worth the prices and very very affordable especially these days. You're getting good quality baked goods that are made fresh daily. I will definitely recommend this place to others. I'm from California so I've been to the harvest bread up there very nice place and they never fail they have different breads every other day my wife was very happy and wanted me to review you hire really good workers. This new bakery is a great business for Kailua. I stopped by the day before their soft opening and the owner was very excited to open his store here. The store staff was friendly and helpful. The food was at the high level that you expect from Great Harvest. Seeing it was a soft opening they seamed very organized and had plenty of help to serve the public. I got the Dakota bread which was very good. They also have a small sourdough bread for $6. When I finish my bread, the next loaf I get will be the sourdough bread. Very slow and poor service. Prices ok but food - sandwiches were a poor excuse for sandwich. Best part was the chips. Would not recommend.

Was so excited but the Instagram Ruben sandwich available for March. Getting it had proved impossible. The sandwich offerings are not available for regular hours of operation. When the sandwich bar closes seems subjective so, be sure to call. My third attempt it just wasn't available and apparently no idea if it will return this month. The selection on visiting is quite small and web site is not helpful. Great Harvest is a great concept but only as good as its local operator. read more

Have always loved Great Harvest. Today, stopped in the Kailua location. I thought at first maybe I missed a response to my greeting to the sales girl associate but no, she just didn't and, her demeanor and responses just got more blatantly rude as I asked a few questions. Needless to say, I chose not to purchase anything because She was So incredibly Rude & appeared perturbed that She was being asked questions. To the owners; probably not a good employee to keep. The place was entirely empty and She treated Me as if She just wished I'd leave. Sorry, I didn't get Her name. Tall blonde young RUDE NON CARING ATTITUDE. Having frequented the other Great Harvest Bread Co.s in town and Waimalu before they closed, I was pleasantly surprised to see one in Kailua today . It was almost closing time, so the selection was somewhat limited but the staff were friendly. The owner was there and he was so nice - he answered our questions and let us sample the Tuscan Herb bread that we were considering. It was so good we bought a loaf on the spot. The mix of tomato and spices is delicious (try it toasted with butter - you really need nothing else). We bought the honey wheat as well which is a tasty, straightforward sandwich bread. So happy that this bakery is here! Will be coming back as often as I can. read more

This place is usually amazing with top notch customer service but my experience today was definitely not great. I went in for their delicious cinnamon bread as I've been craving it and I'm 9.5 months pregnant. They had small loaves out so I asked the lady if she had any larger ones and her response was "as you can see I just got a delivery and I haven't put them out yet" I then asked if I could still purchase the larger ones and her response was "ya" but she kept writing on her hands as if I was a huge inconvenience. She had me wait until she was done writing on her hands and then after the purchase she didn't say thank you or anything. If I was not craving this bread I would have walked out of the store without purchasing anything. I was the only customer in the shop so the treatment caught me off guard. In the past, the employees have been extremely friendly and welcome everyone into the store. read more
