So not sure about how this works --- bought a 12v battery trickle charger at the Walnut Creek store. They were out of stock and said they'd order or get more in on such and such day. Went back, paid $39. Sounded a bit high from what I paid before that was a while back. Turns out didn't need it. Took back to my local store in another state and in their system my refund (in package, not opened, had receipt) was $21. So, that much difference? Error? Charged me for "special order" of a usually stocked item? Don't know but can't be that much difference in regional prices can there? Just beware. I didn't bother to deal with it beyond the local store, too much to do moving and getting a million small things done. read more

I was disappointed when I purchased a bag of 25 shop rags and return them. The rags were red and I planned to use them to clean the interior of my car. Upon using them, they left an abundance of red lint on the surfaces I was cleaning, defeating the process. I returned the bag less the one dirty rag. At 1st I was told I needed to give back all 25 rags even though the one was pretty dirty. Then the agent then spoke to a manager & came back & said they'd refund this time but next time no way. Not a huge fan of this Napa auto parts store. Have frequented here for many years, especially when they have an odd or end that none of the surrounding parts stores have available, but have ultimately found this particular Napa to be one of the least helpful auto part stores I have ever encountered. Some of the guys behind the counter will really try their best to help you find what you need but others can often be rude and over bearing on insisting that certain parts fit, when in reality they often don't. Would steer clear of this store and head to the nearest O Reilly's or Autozone. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service! My car wouldn't start after I parked in front of the Walnut Creek store to buy a new car battery. As I was about to pay for the battery, I asked them to help me take out the used battery and put in the new one. I was told that did not install. I said I'd do it myself if they would lend me a wrench, I was told they couldn't lend me any tools either. Both the young and the older "salesman" were just as unhelpful with a couldn't care less attitude! Fortunately I hadn't paid for the new battery when I was able to restart the car the second time. How Napa Auto has changed. A decade ago you could call for an item and if they didn't have it and another Napa did, they would simply take your name and number and have it brought in from that other store. Now? They ask for a credit card, first. Why bother? Decided to drive the extra 30 minutes to that store to give them my business. Needed a particular floor jack. Mine went out and was knee deep into a project. On my back underneath my truck I reached for my phone and called my local Napa. If I have to get up and wash my hands to grab my wallet only to wait till the next day to get it, I may as well drive to the store who has it and get it today. For a $400+ floor jack on sale now for $199, even if I flaked I think it would have eventually sold. So it wouldn't have been dead stock. Last time I call my local Napa. Now, if you go in there, you have some new employees working. They have no idea of what they're doing. They have no idea about parts. They don't know how to look it up. I went in, looked for the coolant, couldn't find it at first so I asked the main worker there. He kindly showed me where it was and pointed out what other options I had. I said thank you, paid for the coolant, then he said have a nice day, and I said thank you, you too. Usually you can tell if a worker is 'sincere' or not: they would over-do their niceness or not be nice at all. But this guy, this guy had genuine niceness. I wish I got his name. Walnut Creek informed me that the Hayward store is an independent franchise and Walnut Creek is corporate owned, so they could not help me with the return. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! Apparently all Napa Auto Parts stores expect you to read their Articles of Incorporation and understand their ownership structure before making a purchase! Ridiculous! This is our favorite car parts store in the bay. The guys working here have been working there for years and can answer any questions you may have. Just call up and talk to anyone. Of course having all the guys in there know your husband on a first name basis kind of helps too. So when I came in to get new Wiper Blades for my truck and then told them who I was married to, all eyes hit my belly. They were all congratulatory. Plus I'm sure they are happy because I'm literally growing a future customer for them right now. Yay for them! Ive been a customer for over 35 years. After yesterdays dealings with the Walnut Creek location Iam going to have to part ways. After calling to confirm a part, I was told they have it in stock. I gave them my name and told them I would be by in 20 minutes. When I Arrived I was greeted by Cynthia who initially helped me over the phone. She immediately pawned me off to someone else. After waiting 5 minutes it was clear they didn't have the part. I confronted Cynthia about this and she became very defensive turning the issue around on me saying I hung up the phone to quick. Of course this was not true. When I asked for her supervisors number she asked me to leave. A younger sales consultant was kind enough to direct me to their website. As I was sitting in my car trying to reach Napa s corporate office, Cynthia comes racing out of the store and confronts me on the passenger side. My first reaction was for my safety so I rolled up my window. Much to my surprise during her rampage she had her phone out while I was in my car. A few minutes went by and the younger employee grabbed her from the side of my car and pulled her into the store. Wow!! I was thinking that this Cynthia must have violated a number of Napas policies. I would think that Napa would want to know they have an unhinged employee who chooses to escalate a problem instead of dealing with it with some form of integrity. Not too sure if she forgot to take her meds but clearly this was unpleasant for me and it could have been quickly remedied if she was truthful and apologetic. Had to return an alternator that was bought at another store. From the moment I walked in I was given push back and excuses. First I was advised since I bought it at another store I couldn't return it here. Then I was told it wasn't even a Napa alternator that was sold to me. Keep in mind I had my receipt with me the alternator was purchased 3 days prior in a Sacramento. Then they finally test my alternator and told me there's nothing wrong with it after being advised by both my mechanic and another part store that the alternator stopped functioning at high RPM. After a great deal of back-and-forth I'm given a new alternator. Under the pretense that there was nothing wrong with the first one and it's not going to fix my problem. Well the new alternators in and it absolutely took care of my problem. Used to come here for the customer service. People are very knowledgeable and friendly. Our 2003 Honda Odyssey Van AC blower only worked at max. It was 99 degrees weather! I had to get this fix for my family. The problem was a faulty blower resistor. I called two Honda dealers and several auto part stores around the area. Not one store carried the part. When I called this store, they placed an order with one of their carriers. The part was ready for me to pickup on the same day within 2 hours. In fact the part was a good brand like that if OEM. I don't purchase large amounts of parts, but I have been purchasing the ones I do get from these guys for at least 15 years now. Of course, they always have the basic stuff for oil changes and other basic fixes, but they go out of their way to help on the more difficult things. Such as when I needed new header gaskets for my Hooker headers. They could have told me to just call Hooker, but they took the time to find the correct part number and order them for me. I can't remember a time that I came out of that store empty-handed from them not having what I needed. read more

So I went and bought parts elsewhere cause I couldnt wait any longer. I went in to get my money back cause 3 weeks and no call to let me know my parts came in and he wouldn't even give me a full refund. Charged me a return fee and I wasn't even returning anything. I just wanted my money back since they didn't even call me. The owner is very rude and their knowledge for parts is not very accurate. This is the first NAPA I've been to I had to prepay for a basic part. They bank on you paying and never coming into pick them up so they make free money.
