I managed to get totally full without any bread. I had the hummus bowl with falafel. I love all the cool tasty, crunchy stuff you can add. For me it's pickles and red cabbage. The hummus is so smooth with a nice lemon balance. I had to share a lentil soup. A generous portion and really delicious. Strangely they had background raeggae music. The staff are very helpful. Having lived in England for 3 years, Dubai for 1 year, and Kyrgyzstan for 6 months (my wife lived there for 25 years), this restaurant was on par with flavor and presentation. Came here with hubby for lunch after some shopping at Nordstrom Rack. The guy behind the counter was very helpful and knowledgeable on the cooking styles of the food. You can get a shawarma or falafel in a pita pocket or in a bowl with pita on the side. I chose the steak shawarma in a pita. You have the option of getting hummus and/or baba ganoush in the pita, then comes the steak, and you can add cabbage, mixed cucumber salad, onions, and pickles on top of that. Then you can top it off with some salsa, garlic mayo sauce, tahini. I had the garlic and salsa added and it was super tasty! Hubby made his into a meal with some fries. I looove Middle Eastern food. I was intrigued by the description of this place so we went and check it out one night after a Costco shopping sesh. First of all, yes, very Chipotle-esque. But I love Chipotle so no complaints here. I went with a hummus bowl, and holy shit did he give me a lot of hummus. Followed with steak, the cabbage, pickles, tahini sauce, and a warm, fluffy pita! I didn't get any of the spicy salsas, but did sample some of my husband's as he got it on the side - the less spicy one had pretty good flavor, so I would get that next time for sure. Anyway, I tucked in. The pita turned out to be great, I broke it in half and loaded some of my bowl into it and made my own makeshift pita sandwich. I reeeeally like the flavor of the pita! The bowl was all around awesome, you get a shit ton of food for $8-9 bucks. The reviewer who said the bowls were skimpy is either giant or got a one off, my bowl was easily as much or more in volume than a Chipotle burrito bowl. I was stuffed! Decent food. The falafel is my fav item there. There Only 50 cents each. The bowls on the other hand are skimpy. If I'm paying good money for a lunch I want to be full. Like chipotle 13.00 I'm stuffed. 15.00 st Naf Naf I found my self l filling up on pita bread rather than the actual meal to self. The shawarma is great, but they need lamb. Naf Naf came into my life that one time I had an addiction to middle eastern food. I still am hooked to it but Naf Naf is a simple yet delicious fast food middle eastern hot spot. There is one that opened recently in the Mall of America but their portions are huge and prices are around 6-8 bucks and they give you pita! Their falafel is the best. I always get the falafel bowl with quinoa and rice and all the toppings and sauces. Basmati rice is to die for but nothing too fancy. Lunch time is always busy but their service is quick and employees are always nice and friendly. The area is nice and always clean. I have nothing negative to say and is always my go to place if I am in need of a quick, filling meal. read more

Their french fries are very tasty, try dipping it in one of their sauces. I tried the chicken option and would definitely get it again. I went to the location in maple grove, it was pretty small and filled up very quickly at lunch time on a Friday afternoon. I give two stars only because I would feel guilty giving one star. They are not doing it right. * The pita bread is far too sweet. It reminded me of a Krispy Kreme doughnut. Some less sweet bread prepared in a wood fired clay oven would be much better, and actually authentic. * The shawarma is cut by a robot. As a customer expecting authentic food, I was extremely disappointed to see this. It is important that the ownership group makes an investment in their employees such that the employees have some culinary ability beyond scooping ingredients into pita pockets or bowls. I want food that is cooked in house, not reheated according to corporate guidelines. Can you really call yourself a restaurant if all you do is reheat food products produced at a central facility? * The meat portions are measured very carefully. If I order the chicken shawarma bowl for $7.99, I am expecting the chicken to be prominent. It's really upsetting to think of the good money you're about to pay as you watch them carefully measure one single level scoop of meat. The meat should be cut from the spit TO ORDER. It is very troubling to see big spits of meat roasting in the kitchen, and then watch as a paltry-ass portion is unceremoniously scooped from a steel container and dumped into your bowl, ala Chipotle. * The "fries" are not fries. This is obvious cost cutting bordering on deception, and customers should be offended. Last time I checked, deep fried thinly sliced potatoes are called potato chips. The portion of "fries" is very small. * The pricing scheme is absurd. The addition of "fries" and a soda to a shawarma/pita sandwich costs $2.99, bringing the total price over ten dollars. A small container of baba ghanoush costs $3.99. A side order of rice costs $2.49. I understand expensive proteins, but there is no excuse for overcharging for rice. Unacceptable. Frankly, rice should come free with the meal. The fact that the restaurant is located in Maple Grove is no excuse for overcharging customers. * I was disappointed by the flavor of the chicken shawarma. It tasted strongly of oil, and not so strongly of the roasted, spiced ambiance that shawarma is known for. I had a bowl of basmati rice, chicken shawarma, red cabbage salad, chopped lettuce salad, pickles, and the sumac onions, and there were no strong or defining flavors. It's as if all the real elements of the cuisine were removed to appease the bland palates of the average American. Where is the pride in selling lots of a fake food? * One redeeming quality was the branding and decor. I thought the location had pleasant signage and seating. It was bright and inviting. The music was very loud for a restaurant. * The fellow working the register, presumably the general manager, took about 5 seconds to examine the $100 bill I gave him. I guess I looked suspicious. Generally, Naf Naf Grill comes off as an overly corporatized and streamlined restaurant. Most if not all elements of authenticity and flavor have been distilled out of the experience in the name of simplicity and profitability. I am a big fan of middle eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, and I genuinely want Naf Naf to be successful. They need to improve the quality of their food, and that is the bottom line. For authentic middle eastern cuisine, I highly recommend Basha or Filfillah on central. The pricing compares very favorably to Naf Naf, and the food is on a completely different level. read more

I am a pharmaceutical rep who is caught on-the-road often. I can go to any restaurant I want.. and I make the effort to go to Naf Naf as much as possible. I particularly like the Maple Grove location. Jesus, the manager, always greets his customers with a friendly smile. He trains his team to do the same. The food at Naf Naf is really good (I grew up in Israel and know good middle eastern cuisine), but it's Jesus and the staff that bring me back time-and-time again. Love naf naf, always a regular when am I in the area. Last few visits have not been as well. The staff today was very unfriendly and unhelpful, failed to offer hummus for a bowl and then when we asked for hummus at the end charged extra. Went here based on the great reviews on Yelp. Don't believe them. I've been enjoying middle Eastern food for 30 years. The hummus and baba ganoush are indistinguishable from one another even though both should have very distinct and strong flavors. I ordered a veggie feast which cost $9. Way overpriced for the four falafel one scoop of babaganoush and one scoop of hummus that I got along with a few pickles and spicy unpleasant sauce that I wasn't even asked if I wanted. Possibly the worst and most overpriced middle Eastern food I have ever had. And, at least the server I had, was completely disinterested and even trying to make it an interesting meal blending all of the ingredients together in a single bowl. I usually love Naf Naf grill. I've been to several locations in the city. I went in to the Naf Naf in on Elm Creek in Maple Grove and I was appalled at the customer service or lack there of. I have a dietary issue and so I needed to simply have my usual 2 meat meal deconstructed and placed in different containers. I greeted the female server and politely told of my request and was immediately met with a bit of hostility. At each turn of our interaction this young lady either had an attitude or acted as though I were troubling her. Several times she tried to redirect my request. Sadly, even when I explained to her repeatedly what I needed each time her nonprofessional attitude remained. At no time did she seek to accommodate me nor my request. When I asked her to place the side items in a container she subsequently brought out a much smaller sample sized container to which I had to correct and question if that were the amount that would normally be placed in the meal. I felt as though I was in a struggle for power and control over my order which shouldn't be ( I'm not normally the 'customer is always right) type however, if someone asks for a specific request concerting their meal I would assume that any business would at the very least attempt to honor said request. This young ladies demeanor was extremely negative, disrespectful, dismissive, and insulting. When I spoke with the manager he was apologetic, however, I told him that I would never enter his establishment if this were the type of customer service one would receive. Conversely, the Naf Naf grill on the U of M campus is awesome! The wonderful staff and Manager are always smiling, helpful and welcoming. This establishment should invest more time in training staff. I understand that we all have bad days, I get that but her attitude went beyond simply having a bad day into just BAD customer service which I fear is apart of her core traits. read more

I've been here a few times now. (Don't even want to mention the Chipotle comparison because that's been done already.) Love the salad bowl with falafel. I always add all of the crunchy veggie add-ins as well as tahini and green hot sauce. I pay extra for baba too 'cause it's totally worth it. The bowls and pitas are such generous portions for what you pay!! Fries aren't really anything special on their own, but the awesome staff member working suggested dipping them in the garlic sauce.... I think my hubby is addicted now because he practically drank the fries and sauce. Dang. Lentil soup is good too. Baklava has never really been my thing so I'm not going to state my opinion of dessert. I also noticed the reggae music in the background of the restaurant. Interesting... I enjoy reggae music a lot, but I don't really get how that got incorporated into this particular restaurant chain Anyway, always friendly staff --super great at what they do. And you know? I saw a lot of reviews comparing Naf Naf to authentic places (i.e. Crescent Moon) & saying that Naf Naf doesn't par up. Well, let's not do that. I used to LOVE this place. Sadly I have a negative review. Firstly the people who work here are ALWAYS short and rude. They act as if you should know exactly what to order even though you may have only been there 0-1 times. Beside that the last time I was there I had TONS of fat in my chicken. And WORST OF ALL..... I had a huge bone in my bowl. I could've choked on it. It was very large and sharp.
