I made an appointment at Nail Studio after reading the great reviews on Yelp. The salon wasn't busy during the hour I spent there from 4-5pm last Friday. I counted seven customers. Business was slow enough for one staff member to relax in the pedicure massage chair. Another staff member peered over my technician's shoulder as she polished my nails. Perhaps she was an apprentice trying to improve her skills, but I found the extra attention a bit strange. The salon offers a wide range of colors from OPI, Essie, and some other brands I wasn't as familiar with. I liked that the colors were displayed on a plastic nail display wheel so that I could see the true polish colors without trying them out on my own nails. I chose "Don't Bossa Nova Me Around" for my gel color and Kim expertly polished my nails, taking her time to make sure the polish was even. My gel manicure turned out great and is still holding up well a week after my visit. The $35 charge was $10 more than I normally pay at my regular salon in DC, but the price is within the typical price range for a gel manicure. I wish this place offered you bottled water or other refreshments during your visit. That would have definitely been a plus. I'm glad I tried a new salon. It's nice to know this is an option if I'm ever in Bethesda again and in need of a manicure. read more

Decent job but charged double the price we were expected as they had these listed on their site (see pic). We booked by calling the number on the site AND the main picture is of their studio. They also tried to charge us for a massage we didn't receive. How they didn't know they didn't give three people massages is beyond me. Will not be going back. read more

I am so happy to have finally found a good nail salon in this area. After reading a million different reviews and trying a variety of salons, I am delighted that I tried Nail Studio. The salon was bright and clean. The staff were friendly. I was offered hot tea or soda, which was a nice touch. Helen was my technician and she was absolutely fabulous! She did a great job on my pedicure and my feet were soft and smooth once she was done. The price was very reasonable, especially for the area. This is my new found gem. I've been going to Nail Studio for about 2 years now to see KAYLA! She is absolutely amazing & honestly I've never gotten a better manicure anywhere else in the Bethesda area. They always fit me in as long as I call first, I think they get busy most Fridays but as long as I make an appointment ahead of time they can always fit me in. This is my favorite nail salon by far! I have been going here for about 6 years and have been treated like family! My nail guy Hai, will listen to all of my requests and is super patient when I have a hard time picking a color, or asking him to fix something. If ever my gel chips, which is rare, I can go in same day or the next to have it fixed. The way Hai does his gel manicures they last up to at least three weeks! Go here for your gel manis! I had been here a few times before and been pretty happy with the results, so I keep going back. I have a trip to New Orleans this week for work, so I decided to grab a gel mani before heading down. I came here on June 26 on a whim. I took a different way to work that morning and saw they had a big banner in the window advertising that they were open and offering a discount. I went online and saw they were also offering a special that if you booked an appointment that week for a service they would do a free manicure with nail art. I was in need of a good pedicure so called for an appointment. Very friendly, fast, and easy to do by phone. I arrived 10 minutes early to my afternoon appointment and I could tell they were a bit busy. There were only two employees and five people. Three getting their nails done, one drying and one waiting. They immediately apologized profusely saying they were understaffed that day and that it was not the normal for them at all. Even though it was my lunch break I was not in a rush. I spent my time going through all of the different colors. Tons of great options from OPI, Essie, Color Club, and a few other brands. I picked my colors and they had the foot bath and massage chair ready for me. I soaked my feet to the point of pruning as they finished up the other two clients, and they apologized again and offered me a bottle of water. They had a big flat screen tv playing Netflix and I was in a brand new massage chair, so I was totally fine with waiting. Once it was my turn I had both employees (sorry I didn't get names!) working on me simultaneously. They did a really thorough and lovely job. And included a paraffin wax treatment for my hands for free! That was so lovely and unnecessary, but definitely appreciated! I got little flowers painted on both ring fingers and big toes (I'll upload that picture after I'm done writing!) and they gave me a pair of really nice flip flops to keep too. I only paid for the spa pedicure since I had that special offer, which was such a bargain for everything I got done. I had to rush back to work so they told me if I chipped or smudged anything to come back to get it fixed. And sure enough when I got back to work I smudged a nail, so after work I went back and they stopped what they were doing to come fix my nail for free. Fantastic customer service! Plus it's a really big space with new furniture and really high ceilings. There are several nail places in the area, but if I'm in need of another pedicure I'm coming back here! read more

Not only that she didn't clip my toe nail All the way cross so I had a piece of my nail sticking up, I instantly knew I wasn't going to get what I was paying for so I told them to do regular clear polish ! I paid $50 . I definitely feel like the guy over charged me being that they were slow and was trying to get extra money out of me . I normally go to my regular nail salon in Kentlands but I was getting my nails done with some coworks so decided to go here after another coworker recommended the place. The atmosphere is very welcoming, friendly and you're definitely in for a good time with lots of laughs! All the technicians are so friendly and funny, especially Hai. My group got a gel mani, gel mani and pedi, and powder mani. They were very accommodating and we didnt have to wait at all. They offered us drinks and moved us around to make sure we could all be together. Everything was going great until the woman working with me was filing my pinky and cut me. She filed too deep and accidentally scratched me. Obviously, I wasnt happy about that but she was so apologetic that I was okay with it. My main concern is how my nails actually turned out. A few of my nails has cotton strands in them and thus didnt feel nice and smooth. Also, within a week, my nails started chipping within a week. When I go to my regular place, my nails normally last at least 2-3 weeks. So, I absolutely loved all the people but for the price and outcome, I would not recommend. read more

I finally found a place in the DC suburbs to get my hands and toes done. Thank goodness! I love that they are so clean - new files for everyone and plastic liners on the pedicure tubs. Hai (the owner's son) takes sanitation very seriously and makes sure they follow some pretty strict guidelines. Hai is always willing to do whatever design I request on my nails and I love that he pays so much attention to the details. Yes, this means it takes longer than your average mani and pedi, but I'm always happy with his work. I will say, though, that while Hai is awesome, I haven't always been thrilled when someone else there does my nails. So, now I call ahead to make sure I can get my appointment with him. read more

This place is an absolute gem. I have gone to many nail salons over the years and this place is my favorite. The pedicures are fantastic and everyone at the studio does a great job. Leading up to my wedding I had several small nail parties with my bridesmaids here. We called ahead to let them know how many of us there would be and they were very accommodating. I would recommend this place for someone who wants a regular nail salon, as well as someone who wants to just have an enjoyable mani-pedi date with a friend. My only warning would be that I am not the only one who knows this place is the best, so call ahead and schedule an appointment. read more

I didnt think it was possible for me, to love a nail salon as much as I love this place. First things first.... I love Hai... the man who does my nails is perfect. He makes me laugh, offers me a beverage when I walk in the door, he accommodates me, he makes me laugh, he relaxes me when I get my nails done. I am very very very very picky about my nails. I travel a ton for work, and am always out and about. He will see me at 735pm when they close at 8 and take his time. He will respond to a random question I have via text. He is professional. This place is the epitome of clean, and sanitary. Its like walking into a friends house who does your nails perfectly and who you pay. Went on a Sunday afternoon for a gel manicure and eyebrow wax. There were about 4-5 nail artists working on a few people. I waited maybe 5 mins before I was sat at one of the manicure stations. I had a technician named Ana, I believe, and she did a nice job. She asked if i wanted my nails trimmed, I declined and asked for them to only be filed. She then asked if I wanted to keep the same shape, which I was fine with. She took her time putting on the polish and making sure there was full coverage with no bubbles before having me set them under the lights. Once my nails were done she gave me a nice little massage with a hot towel to follow. A pretty standard manicure. After my nails were finished, she took me back to get my eyebrows done. Very quick and easy. The wax was a little too hot sometimes, but that's just a matter of using it too quickly out of the pot. The one turn off about this place, is there was one staff member who was complaining about working too often and not getting to see her kids. It was mainly the tone of voice that she was using, and the fact that she had to let everyone in the salon know. Another staff member said something along the same lines to her but he made it more of a joke and then talked about getting the recent holiday off to spend with family. It really just broke up the calm atmosphere to have her talking so loudly and with the attitude. The gel manicure was $35 and eyebrow wax was $10. About the usual pricing in this area. read more

Angela was very unprofessional, extremely rude and excessively talking which caused her to nick me a couple of times because of her constantly talking and not paying attention to what she was doing. The worst part, her customer before me did not want to put her hands under the ultra violet heating tray for her gel nails. Customer said she wanted her nails to dry naturally? Angela, the tech, said okay. About ten minutes later the customer complained that her nails got smudged. I guess so. She didn't want to do the right method. Angela stopped in the middle of doing my nails (fill in) to redo the customer's nails all over which was stupid, inconsiderate and disrespectful. Angela should have finished with me before going back to the previous customer. I was there for an extremely long time waiting for Angela to get back to me. Then she had the nerve to tell me I was impatient and started to bad mouth me in her native tongue. This place came up when we googled salons open during COVID so we decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did! They took our temperatures when we came in and there were plastic shields up at each station, including pedicure chairs. We also got complimentary masks and sat apart for distancing measures. My nail technician Nancy was super pleasant and friendly and I really enjoyed talking to her! The salon played relaxing music and the pedicure massage chairs were super comfy. We received great service for very reasonable prices and very much appreciated all of the measures taken to ensure our health and safety. I feel awful even writing a bad review because the lady I saw was as nice as can be, but the SNS dip power I got looks absolutely terrible. There's corners of my nails completely misses, there's nail polish all around my nails and hands that she didn't even bother to clean up, and my pinky is now bleeding around the side. There was no massage, I felt like she didn't know how to do the dip well, and if that's the case I would have asked for something else. For being a professional salon I am completely disappointed and upset with the outcome. I usually go to another salon in Bethesda and my girl there was booked for several weeks, and I had been to nail studio a couple times before and had the young guy and he was wonderful, so I figured because of that it would be okay. I didn't have the heart to tell her how bad it was and didn't want to embarrass her with another customer who had come in, but no one should be walking out with nails like this. read more

Really great service and clean place with new nail tools every time. My nail tech was Kayla and she was able to squeeze me in last minute. The best part of the pedicure was the acupressure foot massage. Kayla took her time with the massage and I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep. My only critique is that the place is a little pricey. I got a basic pedicure and manicure with no polish and was still charged $40 for their mani/pedi bundle. Overall great experience! I came to this place based off of yelp reviews and I'm glad I did. I saw Liz for a pedicure only. She did an amazing job and I'm very pleased. She took her time and was very meticulous which is always something I love for in spa services. I got the basic pedicure and was done a little after an hour and It cost $27. My first pedicure with her lasted about a month and that was with regular nail polish. I'm hoping the same goes this time around. Only downfall here is the LACK OF NAIL POLISH and the polish they do have is dried up and dusty. read more

It sucked. My tech was so bad. She was doing my pedicure and I kept on telling her what to do! She would literally cut no skin off with those clippers. I'm like lady! This looks like crap! What are you doing!? She started applying nail polish and it was just awful - super thick and uneven! I would point it out and she'd just put more layers. Like what in the world are doing!? I asked to take all the polish off an got outta there as soon as I could. Not sure if she's new or what, but I specifically said on the phone when I made an appointment that I'm very particular about my mani/pedi. This however would have sucked even if I wasn't! Atrocious. This is the very best nail place I have ever found!! Nancy, Hai and Anna are terrific along with everyone who has ever taken care of me. The service is personal, warm and absolutely lovely. They treat you like family!! They have also done everything to be safe. They take your temperature, and each station has a plastic shield in addition to everyone wearing masks. I also always get the best foot massages and the luxury parafin treatment. I would never go anywhere else. They also have a new hair person I will be trying soon. I went to this place for the first time last week. I had the dip powder service for my nails and it started chipping 3 days later!!!!! This was the worst manicure I have ever had. The nail technician (I think she is the owner or manager) was the worst, she was talking a lot and not paying attention. It took her an hour to do my manicure and when she was done I had glue all over my nails and 3 days later it started chipping. It is supposed to last 3-4 weeks! 3 stars because it was clean and I've struggled to find that in md. But all the rest was meh. My nail person was terribly slow. Like 1 hour later and pedicure still not done. I asked for the vinylux which didn't have an upcharge but the lack of proper top coat = nails chipping within 2 days. Normally Vinylux is amazing and lasts more than a week. I won't be coming back here and will need to find another nail joint when I visit family in the area. read more

Horrible! I don't even want to take a picture of my nails & toes, they already look (3) weeks old after having them done just about a week and half ago. The dipping powder nail color began chipping within (5) days of getting my nails done. Then, when I went home, the regular nail color on my left big toe smeared and was completely messed up. $87 dollars gone down the drain. Also, I didn't get a good vibe from the staff, the nail technician that completed all of my services didn't even listen to my requests in which is huge pet peeve of mines as a customer. I also noticed that they are not as attentive and friendly to new customers as they are with their loyal, returning customers. As a result, I will not be returning here again. I'm warning all potential new customers, just pass on this place and go to another nail salon with better ratings in downtown Bethesda. read more

This salon is so well maintained and clearly cared for by the owner. It is truly a delight to come here. I came as a walk in and was immediately helped, although while I was there a line did form, but everyone was helped as soon as possible. The staff is friendly and welcoming, especially the owner, who's name I think is Hai. He is affectionate in all the best possible ways, calls the patrons "sweetie" and "honey", is always ready with a funny joke or line, and just makes the place feel genuinely welcoming. I can't tell you how many times I've walked into a business and been greeted with, "hi." or nothing at all even! It's so refreshing to be welcomed like I was walking into my aunt's house. The services offered are top notch and every effort is made to keep the salon completely sanitary, from the plastic pedicure basin coverings to the individually wrapped nail tools. They offer a handful of spa-like treatments, one of which is was herded into, but it was a welcome addition. If you are on a budget, just make sure to clarify that you are there for a specific service, because, like any good company, they will offer upgraded treatments and once you say, "hmmm, that sounds nice," it's yours. Not a bad thing, just additional. I got a gel manicure and a "luxury pedicure" on my most recent visit here. The luxury pedicure was, quite honestly, luxurious. Sometimes you go to these places and "luxury" stands for "additional lotion", but not here. There was literally so much going on that even when I thought it was over and I was ready to go, there was more! They used some scented flowers, exfoliating gels and cremes, the softest lotion I have ever felt, a paraffin wax treatment, and on top of all of that, there was a ten minute leg massage. Per. Leg. It was fantastic and the definition of luxurious. AND THEN they painted my toenails! Nancy does an AMAZING job with my eyebrows! I discovered her when I lived in Bethesda back in 2015 and even though I now live in NoVa, I still make my monthly/bi-monthly pilgrimage back to see her. She's that worth it! She and her son, Hai, are true professionals and sincerely care about their customers. I remember one time, Hai gave me a pedicure that lasted 4 entire weeks!
