This is the worst nail place I have been to! I wanted to try a new nail salon close to my house. I decided to come in on a Friday evening around 6 since my gym is right next door. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a very nice lady at the front. She was the only person who was pleasant in this place. She asked me to pick my color since I was getting a gel manicure. First, their polish selection is VERY limited. I was almost forced to pick a color that I didn't like due to the lack of polish. I was seated with a girl named Vivian who didn't even bother to say hello to me. I went ahead and said hi. She rushed through my manicure as if there was a line of people waiting. She was horrible! I give it a 2 stars simply Bc it has major potential it looks very nice. I asked the front desk lady to show me the best tech Bc I come from the best and just recently moved to the area. I basically had to tell the tech how to do his job. He would attempt to take the last bit of gel off my nails using a nail file which was weird to me. He also did terrible at cuticle cutting. Lastly when he was done I showed him the bubbles in my polish and he just lightly filed it with nail file. I asked him so now does it just stay rough Bc you filed it, and he answered yes! TERRIBLE! Im going to start by saying I gave this salon 2 stars because of its management and customer service. (POOR) I have been a loyal customer for nearly 3 yrs. Same person did my nails every 2 weeks like clock work. I'm a very loyal client. I'm educated and own several businesses so I know a little bit about customer service. I spend at least $200 mthly of my hard earned money in there. They have a new manager by the name of Mandy who has been there a couple of months. (terrible attitude etc...) Anyway, one day I come in for service and the tv is on an informercial. I ask Mandy, the manager, could she change the channel. She gives me an excuse then storms off speaking in their language. (I can't understand of course) 10 mins later Mandy, the manager, is still talking in their language LOUDLY and looking at me. So are the other employees. (who can of course understand what she is saying) Nevertheless, It made me feel very uncomfortable. So, I ask my nail tech, "is she talking about me"? She responds, "Yes". Not wanting to get in trouble for telling me. I kindly approach Mandy, the manager, and ask her if she has something to say....say it in english and to me! She mumbles some more and never says anything to me. At this point I felt like that performance from her was unwarranted and unprofessional. The next day, I contact the owner, who in turns have the general manager call me. I now have explained my awful experience to both of them and I'm requesting a meeting with them and their manager, Mandy for an apology and explanation. Of course, this is the place that I will have to come to in 2 weeks and I need this resolved, right? I waited patiently for 1 week and I never receive a return phone call, apology, explanation or nothing....but they want to keep taking my $200 a month. I don't think so!!! I realize they have cornered this nail market and if we the consumer want that service we probably will have to go to them but I don't understand BAD even TERRIBLE customer service. I'm not that desperate to wrap my head around that one. So the long of the short is I have moved on to another salon with better treatment for their customers whom I will help them feed their families, pay their bills and keep their lights on! I used to go here because it was located in the same shopping center as my gym and grocery store. The salon is clean, modern updated, and spacious. There's African American women that work at the front and answer the phones to schedule appointments. That can be convenient because sometimes, there can be a language barrier in past experiences at other salons. The other reviews are true about finding certain technicians. My favorite's name was May and when she went on vacation, I had someone else. I wasn't as pleased with my visit and felt like the new person just rushed through. I haven't been back yet to see if May has returned, but I prefer to only schedule with her. They have an OK nail polish selection, but it still takes me forever to pick a color lol. read more

Although I choose to go here because its close to where I live...it is still one of the better places I have been to, especially here in Bowie. The staff is super friendly and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for whatever service I am getting and that's regardless of never having an appointment! The price is decent, not the best but not the worst. This place is nice and clean and I have never had a problem with any of the services I have received. I have been to other places where they don't seem to take as good as care of you and have even cut me before during a manicure. Ugh! This place! Won't be going back! I got a gel manicure and after 4 days it was peeling off and chipping. When the nail tech applied the gel polish she didn't use a base coat. I asked her why she said oh you don't need it. She was just rushing to get to the next client. This gel polish didn't even last longer than regular polish which is the whole point of getting gel. Good things about this salon is that it is nice looking and staff is nice. The best nail techs at this place is Quyen, Julie, Kevin, and Linda. Anytime I would walk in and get my nails done by them, I was satisfied. The reason I gave it 2 stars now is because of my recent visit with a nail tech I haven't had before. Not sure her name, but I think it started with a K. This experience was TERRIBLE! I came in just to get my sns powder on my nails soaked off and to get regular polish put on. She asked 3 times why not get gel polish or SNS again because it will last longer (which I know) but no means no and I want what I want! So she's using the electric nail buffer and polisher tool to take off the old SNS powder on my nails before wrapping my nails in acetone to soak it off. This woman WOULD NOT STOP BUFFING to the point my nail on my middle finger SPLIT IN HALF! I asked her "what happened?" And all she said was "oh it broke" and was filing it like that would repair it. She eventually clip my nails down to where it broke but not all the way so even now with my nails done, it's SUPER SENSITIVE and I still see a little bit of the break at my nail bed. If I ever go back I will NEVER go to her again. Update: I went back to the nail salon, was assisted by Quyen and she did an AMAZING job. She understood my concerns and was very nice. I got my a full set pink and white ombré set with a pedicure and it's horrible. First her attitude was NASTY!!! (I think her name is Tina) I would tell her to fix the nails that she did not do correctly and she was huffing and puffing/rolling her eyes! She even waved a pen in my face! I couldn't believe her! She kept talking over me and tried to deny my request for MY NAILS. My nails are HORRIBLE. They aren't even and they're bumpy. She even said that they were suppose to look like that....like I haven't gotten my nails done before. Acrylic all over my nails. So that's JUST the hands! She did my pedicure with cold water!!!! I asked her to make it warmer she splashed water on me! Did not cut my cuticles properly, or file evenly, left me sitting there in the middle of my service and rushed when she came back! Be careful going to this place..you may get a good day and you may get a bad day. Not a big issue, but nobody understands English in there. I mean you call to schedule an appt. and ask a simple question of "what the technician's name who you are scheduled to see" and the person on the phone hands the phone to someone else. DAAA...do that not know one another's names. The first time I went, it was brand new, nice atmosphere, clean and comfy chairs. The male technician didn't do my pedicure because he said, "he had to go home", so someone else did it. I normally like the technician to be the same so that the designs on my hand/toes are the same.... So low and behold the technician who did my hands couldn't do the design on my toes...Ughhh. The prices are reasonable, but the packages they offer are so similiar, you can get an upgrade on a pedicure for a couple of dollars if you look at the Price Sheet before they start. read more

It has taken me forever to write thias review but i now think that it is time. I think the service is extremely poor and instruments are routinely not sterlized.I can tell by the pink color on the bag. I have been there many times and after a recent visit I decided that making clients wait 30-45 mins for appointments just was not accpetable . I have been to salons in rockville and bethesda. This just does not happen there. The straw which broke the camel's back and helped me make the ultimate decision to leave was becasue I started having my nail ( on my big toe) lift off of my nailbed . It happened frequently . Hit or miss...4 for the ambience and location, 2 for the service. Started coming here a couple of years ago, right next to my gym and nice inside so figured I give it a try. Since then I, have made it my nail salon of choice, but I don't get my nails done that often anyways (once every 2-3 months). Anyways, recently I haven't been impressed with my nails. I have had a variety of technicians and it's been either a hit or miss, more so the latter. As some of the others mentioned a couple of names who are the go to ones, I agree. The front desk receptionist are very friendly. Two bad experiences: I had service with Daniel one time and he was pretty good and took care of me, so the next time I decided to go back to him but wasn't pleased this time. I requested a pedicure and gel polish of my nails. He rushed through my pedicure and then when I asked him for gel polished he looked at my nails and said my nails are weak right now and wait a couple of weeks...first off my nails have always been strong and were normal at the time and I hadn't even got an acrylic in years or even gel in months. So I politely insisted I didn't want regular polish because I want them to last longer than a couple of days. So he went around in the back talking to the other technicians in their language and someone else ended up doing gel for me...my thought immediately was he must of not knew how to do gel and lied so he could perform the job. That didn't sit well with me, so I took him off my list of go to's. My 2nd bad experience was about a month ago. My bf actually treated me to this one and I requested the same thing, except this time it was a different guy. He was nice, took care of me, did a good job with massaging and the foot scrub, but it went down hill when it came time to painting. He did a horrible job, he didn't paint the whole nail bed, there were areas that were just unpainted. I nicely asked him to get those areas, but it still looked as if it was just 3/4 of a toe painted and at that point I was like forget it. Next on to the gel manicure, one nail ended up looking like a press on nail because the polish was beyond my nail bed and onto my skin, it ended up being clunky and bulgy. When I stepped outside into the true sunlight and looked at my feet, realized there was still paint around my nail bed on my skin, like he painted outside the lines. I was just horrified by the job, he was very nice but the job was horrible. I kind of think some of the guys and maybe even ladies aren't certified. They give good leg and foot massages but when they get to painting, it's almost as if I let a little kid paint it. Everything else has been mediocre or just okay. Recently I went there to get a gift certificate for Mother's Day around 9am and the lady said come back at 9:30, I guess they had to wait for their receptionist to get in to do it, but if you work there you should know how to do it in the case someone else is not there, so they lost money there. It's kind of sad, I feel like most of the better nail shops are those that aren't has kept up or in those areas you rather stay away from :-(. Ugh idk what to do. read more

This is probably my 3rd time going to this establishment and it will absolutely be my last. The customer service is deplorable! The first 2 times I went it wasn't a great experience but I went back because it was convenient to where I live. We need to have respect at where we spend our money. There were 3 men in there watching a soccer game and at least one of the patrons was begging him not to keep leaving the chair so she can get done. The person that was doing my nails was looking and laughing and saying something in her language about her. So obvious... When I give my dollars to someone, I EXPECT to get my money's worth! The service I received at this salon is nothing short of negligent. I arrived for a manicure on my natural nails. The technician, Steve, began my manicure and cut my cuticle,which began to bleed. He then picked up a small bottle, dropped the liquid on my bleeding,open wound and proceeded to continue the manicure. My finger was on FIRE! I asked him what he put on my open would, and he tried to wipe it off. However, Because it was SUPER GLUE, the paper stuck to my finger! It is utter negligence that super glue was put on an open wound. I notified the manager and Receptionist,who were very upset and advised that was not protocol. The Manager advised my incomplete manicure would be complimentary. Go Figure. I even question whether this man was licensed to do nails. read more

I visited this salon on Saturday after a long time away. I usually would have had Ti do my pedicures but she wasn't there. I've since learned that she's gone. So I allowed a man to do my pedicure and nails and it was the worst. He rushed through them both. The paraffin wax was so hot that he was running cold water over the outside of the bag while me foot was in it! He nicked my cuticles several times, tried to hide something black that was embedded in my nail that he just sculptured and put way too much gel polish on my nails. Not to mention that the 2 nails he repaired are obviously different than the rest of my hands. I had to ask for some oil for my feet after they were dry because the bottoms looked just as dry as they did when I walked it. This salon is up to date on their look...cosmetic stuff...but underneath they are not that good. I got a pedicure and couldn't decide if I wanted a gel or a regular manicure while my feet were being taken care of. When I decided to get the gel, the lady was so annoyed because she can't do gel manicure. Of course, she proceeds to talking smack in her language to the other lady. Then I had to wait on my manicure while the other lady completed a pedicure. My question is...why couldn't she do the manicure and the other lady just paints my nails?? . Then! Time to check out and they overcharge me $5! I checked my bank account 2 days later and saw it. I called, I was told by Mandy that I was charged because they did not charge someone else for an upgraded pedicure. What does that have to do with me?! Not only is that illegal, but how could you find it in yourself to charge someone for services not received?? No wonder they didn't charge the other person because I heard her complaining about the extra services being a waste because she still had callus on her heels. read more

I visited Nail Trix for a gel manicure and pedicure. They.did.not.do.a.good.job. I had to argue with the nail technician because the polish did not cover my full finger nail. She said it was because the polish was new. What the heck does that have to do with me? They tried to charge me full price. After going back and forth with her as politely as possible, she took $5 off. Freaking ridiculous. Then, when she did my toes, she finished so fast, I couldn't believe it. I had to make her stop and repaint one nail and fill in another. I should not have to do that. This was the worst service I've ever received. I tried this shop on 2 separate occasions. The first was for a gel manicure...the guy did a very poor job and blamed it on the nail polish, which was OPI. Really? The second visit, I had Dan for a full set of gel acrylics. I wasted my time and money. She was not very talkative nor friendly--just the bare bones for service. Not even a week later (I was out of town) and the polish lifted completely off my thumb nail. The remaining nails chipped and peeled. This is NOT suppose to happen a week into new gel acrylics?! The technician twisted my fingers like she wanted to pull them from the sockets! When I told her she was hurting me she got an attitude. This is just a quick overview, one tech actually spat in his drawer while filing my nails, second visit, the tech did a very messy job and rushed me right out of the way for another client. Third and final visit, the tech was supposed to give me a manicure and change of polish on both my nails and feet, but instead the tech started to polish my nails and when I mentioned to him that I did not like how my nails looked he got frustrated and rude. My first experience at Fairwood location in Bowie was the worst. When I walked in I should have suspected something because there was no wait. Once in I was told to pick a color and then the manager came over and took me to a tub for my pedicure. When I looked down at water running into the tub a dead bug was floating in the tub. When I brought this to her attention she replied, "you are color blind but you can see the bug." My reply, "yes, I can see the bug." She used the hose to rinse the dead bugs down the drain but never bothered to clean/disinfectant the tub. The tub was still filthy and when I brought this to her attention as she picked stuff out of the tub she said,"you can certainly go somewhere else if my facility is not clean enough for you." I told her "I am fully aware that I can go elsewhere. I work hard hard for my money just like you do." She then told me to wait in the waiting area for another technician. I waited because I had to get my pedicure done. However, I will never go back again and I will be reporting this place to the Health Department. The place is nasty and the technicians are disrespectful. I believe these ignorant Joes really think there customers are stupid. What I also noticed was that after the people finished there pedicures the technicians never cleaned the tubs. One worker actually took the nail tools just used and rinsed them with water in the tub, dried the tools with a dirty towel he picked up off the floor and placed the tools back into his drawer. Yeah, they got TRIX!! HORRIBLE SERVICE!! DO NOT ENTER!! Went there on a Tuesday night (5:30pm) for full-set gel nails. I asked the young black lady at the desk, how much it would cost. She said "I THINK it's $38" she wasn't sure (this was the first sign that this is not a good place). She said it would be about a 15 minute wait for an available tech. So she told me to pick a color. I look over at the wall of nail polish, (because the gel nail bottles are black, you have to guess what the color is because they don't have a color wheel). The bottles of the nail polish were sticky and just messy! (That should have been my second sign!) After 15 minutes, I asked if the nail tech (that was just sitting and playing with her phone) if she could start on my nails. Come to find out, she does NOT do gel nails! WTH! So after my 30 minutes of waiting, I finally take a seat at Lucy's station. She did a horrible job! Nail polish all outside of my nail beds! By this time it was 7:30pm, and I was ready to go. Got to the front desk and the fee was not $38 but, $43! They charged me $5 for the polish! I was in a Zen mood (just left the gym) so, I didn't cut-up and act a fool! I figured, I'd just go home and clean-up my hands. Got home and tried to clean-up my nails but, it didn't work. After looking at these horrible nails for a few days, I couldn't stand it any more, so, I went back on Sunday (2:30pm). After standing at the front desk with no one even acknowledging my presence, (very POOR customer service) I demanded that they do my nails over for FREE!! This day I wasn't in my ZEN mood! They said, "Lucy not here today" and I said, do you really think I'm going to let LUCY do my nails again!! Then they told me it would be a 15 minute wait for someone else to do them. After an hour wait, they finally did my nails over. I left the shop at 4:00pm! But, not much of an improvement because the next day, the polish started to chip. I just peeled the gel nail polish off my nails (yeah, I should not be able to peel off gel polish!). Not going to waste my time or energy going back, I'll just call it a loss!
