The first time I came to Vision Nail & Spa was because Rose Nails (across the street) was packed and no one acknowledged me nor the five women behind me for 10 minutes. Well, I'm glad we caught that shade because if we hadn't, I wouldn't have stumbled upon a MUCH better nail salon where every nail tech is skilled, customer service is sweet and it's never crowded! I also appreciate the fact is super-clean here as well. I've made appointments here, and I've come in as a walk-in - and not once have I ever felt rushed, like I was just a number in queue for the night. Nail techs take their time here and every application is flawless. Plus, they have one of the HUGEST selection of gel colors I've ever seen - you can match your "regular" pedi color with your gel mani here with ease! So I stop by this nail salon last week sunday for just a plain ol gel manicure. I didn't have my hopes to high because most places in the northern pg county ,for some reason, cannot do nails to well when compared to nail salons in southern pg county (temple hills, oxon hill, district heights etc.). Anywho, I decided to give this nail salon a try, reluctantly. Once I got there, there was a 20min wait, which was expected since I was a walk-in . I waited , waited, and waited and until I told the nail tech in the front that I will come back another day since the 20 min wait turned into almost one hr. She reassured me that someone will be with me soon. She singled for a women who came from the back to start my nails. She did my manicure and applied my gel sooooooo lovely. The polish wasn't thick, no hanging cuticles and my nail tech was a protectionist; making sure no polish left on my skin. Needless to say it was well worth the wait and I. I use to enjoy patronizing this nail shop, due to the friendly customer service and skilled techs. However, lately I've been extremely disappointed by the service and surroundings. After three spaced-out, consecutive visits I've experienced shoddy work from the nail techs. Specifically, on two occasions, my gel manicure was pretty but lasted less than 8 days, which I understand may be due to an insufficient gel curing application. This was unacceptable as I understand the industry norms are usually--at a minimum--10-14. Secondly, perhaps because of covid-19, I'm more observant of sanitary conditions, so I surprised to see some glaring violations of that in the shop. For instance, the tools and tool container used to trim my cuticles was surprisingly coated with grime and film. Then the shield separating myself and the tech had nail polish debris caked all over it, and lastly, when I was sent over to the washbowl, I winced at how DIRTY and GRIMEY it was. As mentioned, I used to enjoy coming to the shop, but unless they step up there game and implement these standards again, I won't be back. H-A-P-P-Y B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y Vison Nail! read more

I thought coming here after a long day at work to get a much needed pedicure was gonna be a nice treat. It was terrible. The tech I had was lounging in the chair after the manager must've assigned her to me. She wasn't the least bit happy and her attitude showed through her actions. The water was so hot. I told her and she adjusted it after awhile. The pumice scrub was done poorly. She scrubbed for all of 20 seconds. Then the exfoliating scrub she just slathered it on quickly and rinsed it off. Then she brought the hot towel and threw it on my legs, I kicked it off because it was too hot. Almost as if she was intending to do so cause she didn't care. She picked it up held it and put it back on and asked me if it was better. After she painted she told me to go sit at the dryer station. Didn't bother turning it on so I turned it on myself. I sat until my toes dried, paid for my service and left a $1 tip. I wanted to tell her why the tip was small but she was lounging at her station with her head on her phone so it's clear she just wanted to get it over with. I've had better service elsewhere. Working in healthcare no matter how I'm feeling I still have to provide great care to my patients, so her attitude is no excuse. Not sure if I will come back. My first experience was great with another tech. I did not get the name of the tech who did my pedicure this second time. read more

I've just now in March finished growing out my nail beds... up until this point, if my nails grew out even the smallest bit, they would rip (not break, rip). I've been coming here for years (since high school so about 8 years). This is my main spot to get my eyebrows done , ask for Kim. She is the best. But most of the nail techs are pretty good at brow waxing, so rest assure. Just tell them you want a shape up and they will know what to do from there. As far as nails, I got my nails (full set with acrylic tips ) done here a few times; I usually paint my own nails and get acrylic tips for special occasions. They were just ok. The nail tech didn't rush through it and took her time but they seem to be too thick and oddly shaped. But then again I don't get my nails done ever. In all, great place for brow waxing! read more

Bum job, I could have done better myself. At the end of my half-assed mani-pedi, I asked for lotion because my hands were hard and dry from the harsh soap they use, and the tech pointed to the bottle on the counter. The tech had already started on the next person, and couldn't even be bothered to collect my payment at the end of service. So I normally get my nails done at a salon in DC but I figured I would try somewhere close to my house. I normally get a gel manicure on my nails and i can stretch it to last up to three weeks without any chips. I pulled up at the salon at 9:30 (their hours of operation) and they were still closed. I sat in the parking lot until 9:45 until the nail techs arrived. That should have been my first clue. The lady immediately called me back and started on my nails. I picked an OPI color and she told me they didn't have OPI anymore. So I picked another color and she told me that the color was old and sticky. I then picked another color that I liked. She did a great job shaping my nails but she did not do a good job applying the gel. I had the clear coat all under my nails and round my cuticles. I think the top coat was old because I have bubbles on my nails. I woke up the next morning and noticed that my thumb was lifting and another nail chipped. I returned back to the salon and someone attempted to fix it. He tried to say my nail broke. Do not waste your 30 dollars at this salon. Manicure was not neat, does not last and they will blame their crappy job on you! read more

My coming to the spa literally upset the workers. They refused to do full pedicure. They just cut my nails and send me packing. I do not recommend this spa location. I went to this nail spa after reading a rave review on Yelp. I now see plenty of not so great reviews, many a year or 2 or so old, but they're here. I was quoted a price of $30.00. I noticed later that day my cc statement showed $40.00 pending. I figured, I'd wait a day or 2 -it must just be the "hold" charge and that it would adjust. Here we are 3 days later and it's now an official charge of $40.00. I just called the shop, and of course, just my loss. No solution. Issue 2. I explained I wanted a "natural nail" color. I picked 2 colors. Tech tested 1 color - 1 coat. I liked. When doing the polish, she put on 2 coats which changed the color. I didn't care for it and politely expressed this. As always, the customer is always wrong. We went back and forth - calmly. She kept telling me I said I liked it. I kept telling her, I liked the single coat that we tested. I didn't bother to insist on removing and go to one coat and the color has actually grown on me.. My displeasure is she clearly knew I was not pleased and wanted to act like the fact that she used 2 coats had no effect on the color nor did she make any effort to fake like she was even willing to change it for me, whether it be to a single coat or a new color, altogether. Customer service is key and she missed it. As for the price - I will dispute the charge with my cc company. read more

Jenny used to do my nails. I made an appointment with her at 11:00 for 3:30. When I walked in she looked at me and said "you call me". I said yes, she looked away. She was 30 minutes late getting to me, the first 15 she still had a customer, then she said, I'm very hungry, going to eat lunch first. That was another 15. Before she left, she said, you pick color and don't change mind. You always change your mind. I said whatever, cause I wasn't in the mood to let her speak to me in front of ppl that way. I always use mood polish but the colors are nothing like what's on the display sheet. They don't even match the color on the bottle so when she started to polish (the last time, about 30 days prior), it came out purple. I didn't want purple and I expressed it but I took it anyway. It wasn't too bad after all. That is why she make the comment that I always "change mind" She ate her lunch and came back. I'm sure she didn't wash her hands. She started the manicure. Previously one of my gel nails came off. It's on my dresser. When I show her the blank nail, she wanted to charge me for repair. Then she insisted I do a full set. Granted I only had 1/8the new growth, because she didn't do so well the last time, she chipped away at the bottom and edges, by this time, I'm 1/4 new growth. Now she wants to do a full set and charge me. I argued with her that she just did a full set, and remembered the date cause I was leaving town at that time and could show her on my bank statement on my phone how much she charged...it was for a full set. So I made her do the refill. Now I'm steaming. I ask for the Owner, she looks at me "you want owner", well I really needed my nails done, I said, no "I got it". She was rude and I talked to GOD to help me stay classy. Oh, and when she pushed my cuticles back after the gel refill, she used her razor sharp "DIRTY" thumbnail to do so.
