My sister always does her nails here so I went with her a few weeks ago. Ever since then something about the experience has bothered me. They were very busy so my manicurist was already done with shaping my nails and cutting my cuticles by the time my sister got a manicurist. Her manicurist asked mine a question and as I look over my manicurist is openly just passing my sister's manicurist the "one time use" nail file and buffing block she had just used on my nails. While we're okay with sharing with each other, I would very surprised if this wasn't the norm at this salon. 2 stars for how nice they were but otherwise they would have gotten a 0 just for the tool sharing. read more

Stopped in here for a manicure last night. Two manicures (11 each) and a 20 minute massage for $42?? Sold! And the women (and men) in this shop are not nearly as evil as the mean women at Polish, down the street. They were all smiles! Granted the decor in this place is not as modern as Polish, but it is clean and neat, which is what really matters. All new spa chairs for pedicures, too. The massage area is semi-private, which is nice. I don't like getting a chair massage in the middle of a salon; that's just weird to me. Will definitely be returning. read more

I went here on July 8th and had a good experience. They are taking a lot of precautions, including temperature checks, masks and gloves, social distancing and plastic shields between chairs. My mani pedi looks nice and was done well. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that they increased their prices due to Covid but did not let me know until after. $62.70 for a normal (not gel) mani pedi before tip. read more

I definitely agree with the other reviews that the biggest appeal of this place is the fact that it's open until 10 pm, although I did hear that another place right up the street on 84th and 1st is also open late. Anyway, the place is pretty bad otherwise. It's spacious but not luxurious, although it certainly charges as if it were better than the other dozen places right around the block, even the massage chairs are kind of outdated and uncomfortable. Service is subpar also. I like how the woman commented that my toes are small and thus hard to paint. She ended up doing a semi-decent job, but it's already started to chip after 3 days. Definitely not the kind of pedi I was expecting for $38 (I got a French). In short, won't be returning to this place even though it's right down the street from me. Had my eyebrows waxed here twice because my building is above it, and when we first moved I needed something fast and with a good location. The first time was pretty good - maybe a 3.5/5. I was shocked to find that it was $11. Most of the other places I had walked past in the area were $7-8, but okay, I needed them done and it could be way worse. Second time was awful. I went in and I was passed off to a woman who then called a man who was sweeping the back (?!) to do my eyebrows. He made my eyebrows thinner than I wanted, and didn't use baby powder or hold the skin taut or ANYTHING that usually prevents your skin from feeling like crap. It took him a weirdly long time as well...I'm not sure what was going on. I paid him, left, and won't be going back. read more

The first time I went they were great and the manicure held up. But typical, they rush through. One hand is done more thorough than the other (this seems to be a trend) and they are sloppy painting the polish. By the next day it already chips even though I am careful. This is my go to Korean nail salon in the neighborhood. They never rush and are always nice to customers. There's a separate room for massage (nice and quiet) and I've not had a bad massage yet. So I came here because it's around the corner from my apartment. A full gel set is $90. I typically deny paying this price but eh it's close from the apartment. NEVER AGAIN- the 2nd day 5 nails fell off...the gel came off; peeled right off! Ive been getting my nails done for years and I have NEVER had this happen to me. Then the tips started to lift and eventually came off. Normally I would go in there and raise a fit but I figured writing a review is worth more than me telling them off. Unpleasant experience. It took me almost 2hrs to only do a gel manicure. My nails were not cut in the same length after I reminded the girl several times. The LED light it's too hot to put my hands underneath. After put on 2 coats, she cannot tell the color on my nails are uneven and asked me if I need another coat.. The only redeeming quality this salon has is that it's open later than most of the other salons in the area. Thus said, after getting home late from work and absolutely needing a manicure for an event the next day, this place was my saving grace. I walked in with a friend and we both requested manicures. I accidentally smudged one of my fingers clear coats and the manicurist got pretty mad. I mean, it happens. She should have just fixed it and not given me attitude. She literally yanked my hand towards her and told me I wasn't allowed to move for the rest of the manicure. Even my friend noticed she was being rude. She only did 1 coat of color and when I asked for another she questioned me like I was crazy. She did a decent job - as she should have because a manicure there costs about $4 more than at any average salon. However, the next day my nails had started chipping and by the day after that there was no saving them. I will probably never go back - not even in a bind. read more

Love lovey love this place! I've had quite a few mani/pedis here and EVERY person who does my nails has been terrific. They have a great selection of Essie and OPI polishes and they're the kind of place that doesn't mind if you hem and haw for 20 minutes while deciding your color. I love to not feel rushed when I'm getting beauty services, which can so often happen in the city. The slather mud mask on your legs for pedi, great massages (both foot and chair/back) and my manis always last about 5 days, which is LONG for me - considering I'm typing all day and I exercise a lot. Their hours are amazing and they don't give you a hard time if you walk in 30 minutes before close. OH and guess what else? Even if they're really busy you don't have to wait because they own another nail salon a few blocks away and they call for back-up if they have run out of people, though that's not common since they have so many on staff. The atmosphere is spacious, doesn't feel cramped in & is clean. Prices are absolutely reasonable and I was even so pleased that I decided to try "threading" (hair removal with threads vs wax) here. It has been a GREAT change for me since I get rashes from wax. I could not have more outstanding things to say about Nails N Now. read more

Mixed feelings, but I won't go back. First time here was a good experience but the 2nd time is my last. I got a manicure and they accidentally cut the tip of my thumb off with the clippers and then used cuticle cutters that were worn out and kept ripping the skin off so that my other thumb was bleeding. Very uncomfortable process leaving my fingers sore and exposed to infection. The nails were cut uneven and in many places back beyond the connecting tissue. I went here with my mother for a gel manicure. In a couple of days my nails started peeling. We were only in town for the weekend so I could not go back in for a fix. When I called to complain, the manager actually refunded the cost of my manicure, sending a check out soon after. My mother's nails are fine, so my problem was probably a fluke. This was my first and last time at this place. The pedicure was OK, i guess, but I felt the woman doing it was very irritated with me, because she kept pulling my feet up and down for where she wanted them. And when she asked me a question in very bad English, and I couldn't understand what she was saying, she rolled her eyes and just didn't bother. The manicure was dreadful, seriously! I asked for a french manicure, and she painted my nails very badly, she made a very slim line of white, way to slim for me, and she spilt nailpolish all around my nail and it still won't come off. The first thing I did after i paid her a very low tip, was to walk over to Duane Reade and buy nailpolish remover. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! It's not worth your money! read more

This place is OK - but overpriced. I've walked by many times and really thought it looked clean and relaxing so I decided to give it a try. I was surprised that a mani/pedi cost $40. That out-prices everyone in this neighborhood by about $15. But I figured it may be worth it. It wasn't. A perfectly fine mani/pedi, but weak dryers (HATE having to dry longer) and no assistance with shoes/coat which is majorly necessary and pretty standard in the winter. First of all, I created this Yelp account just to write this review. Coming from someone who has been getting regular mani/pedis since I was like 11, I'm speaking from experience. This place was TERRIBLE. From the second I walked in the door, I felt like walking out, however, the only thing this place has going for them is that they are open later than other places. I winced when they told me the price (brave for a neighborhood that averages WAY lower!!!). As I was in a bind and needed this done tonight, I decided to shell out the 40 dollars (not including tip), despite the nasty attitude I was served from the moment I stepped foot into the salon. They were rude from start to finish. If these ladies don't want to be there till 10, they shouldn't advertise that they open until then! (I arrived at 9:30). The fact that the woman who did my mani (Jessica - THE WORST!) had a party to go to was not my problem. She rushed the whole thing, yelled at me for reading a magazine because it was tying up my hands, laughed at my color choice that I brought myself (Don't Tell Mama by Deborah Lippmann, thank you very much), and then told me the way I wanted my nails shaped (standard short oval square) was stupid. What a wench. And it really takes a lot for me to dislike someone, and I am generally very understanding, being in the service industry myself. I even tipped her anyway. This was the worst $50 I've spent in AGES, and next time I'm in this bind, I WILL PAINT MY OWN NAILS! This being said, Iva did my pedicure and at least she didn't have an attitude and did a decent, but hurried job. I have been getting my eyebrows waxed for as long as I can remember. My eyebrows definitely need taking care of regularly and it's a bit tricky because they each grow differently . Thank goodness I met Lilly here, because I have NEVER had anyone do my eyebrows more perfectly than she does! I am getting married in 6 mo and won't let anyone near my eyebrows except her. Okay, I was so annoyed by the bad reviews I just read about Nails N Now on this site that I had to sign up to speak my mind. I've been going to this salon for over 10 years. I first came to them when I lived around the corner, then moved 5 blocks away and still came, then moved 30 blocks away and STILL traveled all the way up to them to get my nails done. The staff is sweet and friendly, and I have NEVER had less than a fabulous mani or pedi. There are many ladies that feel the way I do about Nails and Now. I am one of many that have standing appointments with my regular manicurist. When it comes to their ever-so-relaxing pedicures, I have my favorites, but the truth is, they're all good, so it doesn't matter who you go to. As a regular, I have met many lovely people sitting in the chair next to me, but I have to say, there have been some real "winners" who have come in and been quite rude and snobbish to the girls that work there. In my book, you get back what you give out. The only way you can have a bad experience at Nails N Now is if you bring that energy with you. Listen, a month doesn't go by without someone complimenting me on my beautiful nails. To sum up, I lived 30 blocks away for six years and still came up every two weeks for my manicure...I think that says it all. PS. I'm not telling you who my manicurist is, because you'll love them so much, I'll never get an appointment! read more
