Been going there a while and giving up. Service very uneven, too often have to ask them to clean underneath the nails, and too many times, someone has pushed too hard on my cuticles, hurting me and making it bleed (twice this week: my finger and then a toe). Rarely but it has happened, they don't coat the whole nail, leaving sides unpolished. Disappointing as I live close by and like the convenience but the cutting me has ended this relationship. A friend recommended this place because the one I previously went to in Hell's Kitchen sadly has gone downhill. I was surprisingly pleased at how impeccably clean this salon was. I had a pedicure from Wendy, and she was fantastic. She quickly sensed my sensitive and ticklish feet and worked around them effortlessly. The fragrances of the lotions they use are very soothing and pleasing--not overbearing and fruity like most salons. The salon was mostly empty around noon on a rainy Friday with maybe 7 customers, so I'm not sure if it ever gets loud in there. But my experience was very relaxing between the spa like music they had playing in the background and the overall atmosphere itself. I will definitely be going back. Most UNSANITARY and STRESSFUL nail experience of my life! Spare yourself and your $! SANITATION: The same towels the owner used to wipe lotion off my feet were then directly used to wipe down the massage chairs' side tables, their metal instrument holders, and the whole shelf. In the middle of cutting my cuticles, she got annoyed that the nipper at her station and reached into her dirty apron for her own very different-looking nipper - used it on me then slipped it right back in her pocket. Are you serious? What if I got knicked and the person she used that on before me had a blood-borne disease??? The owner - who tried to do my gel pedicure is insane - non-stop barking at her employees and even harassing one when she went to the bathroom instead of getting straight to cleaning up for closing like she was (literally) yelling about. The entire time she was working on me, she was visibly pissed off and gesturing angrily to the point where she just got up and had the girl who was doing my manicure take over. The owner can't even apply white polish properly. My SNS manicure is flawless, and because that same tech finished my toes they're beautiful too. But WOW was that older lady a vibe ruiner. It felt like watching someone else's family drama and you can't leave the party. To top it all off, the owner hustled me out loud for a bigger tip. $145 for a stressful 2 hours?? Unfortunately this will not be the place for me. - Scheduled an appointment in advance and was not seen until 30 min after. - My cuticles on 5 fingers (3 on the left, 2 on the right) were bleeding after the nail tech used electric nail filer. Fingers were still raw and in painful even after the appointment - To top it off, even after going through the above, I still tipped the nail tech for her time. I rarely like to complain or leave a poor review as I know this is a tough city for businesses as it is -- but I was completely appalled by the service provided to me at Wistaria Nail Spa II (and at a hefty price). The worst part wasn't when my service provider (Katy) barely applied any pressure while exfoliating my feet or when she didn't even put lotion on them after my $40 pedicure was finished in a haste (she did the actual BARE MINIMUM and the salon was basically empty mind you) -- It wasn't even when after my foils were removed she started dipping my fingers directly into the powder dip without ANY preliminary shaping/cleaning of my nails or even pretending to check them for evenness and see if any needed to be cut down (my left hand was still soaking in the foils by the way so she didn't even know if those were shorter or longer or what was going on) -- No, the worst part was the absolute rudeness and complete DISRESPECT I received when I firmly but kindly asked why this was happening multiple times and requested that she please make them even and shape them. The service provider first ignored me each time saying "I will do it later, no later" and then, when I asked again, finally laughed in my face while another technician swooped in and took her place to try and mitigate the situation -- so I thought, this person was equally rude and let me know that "different places have different ways of doing it.." -- Well let me save you some time ladies and gentleman, I (like many of us here) have had hundreds of manicures in this city at many different salons and let me tell you -- I have NEVER seen this before, they cannot possibly expect you to feel good about spending over $100 for a mani/pedi and in return receive the absolute bare minimum, poor/lazy service (with a large side of disrespect!) -- NO THANK YOU. I very stupidly tried Wistaria Nail Spa II in a last minute pinch as I was leaving my office -- do yourself a favor and avoid this salon at all costs. I love this salon! It's very clean and quiet. Shout out to Molly, I just show her a picture of what design I want and she does an awesome job every time. She her takes her time, pays attention to even the tiniest details, and my nails come out fabulous! I also like that when they removed my acrylics, they did so very carefully by soaking them for a long time rather than using a machine to buzz them off quickly. Clean and nice location. Came in for a regular pedi ($35). Nail tech didn't check water temp and as a result, hurt me twice with very hot water. Tech also caused me to bleed twice while cutting cuticles and nails. No scrubbing the soles at all, which I usually get at other nail salons when I get a regular pedi. I am a fan of the location in the west village so I decided to try this one because I was in the area. I wish I didn't. I got a dip manicure and my manicurist filed my nails so thin that they were literally burning the whole time. Then applied dip powder with no base coat, just a straight dark brown color on my nail. This resulted in my nails being stained brown when I got it removed and my long nails being extremely brittle and weak for the past 2 months after this manicure, to the point where I had to cut the nails short and just start over. The 2 manicurists I've gotten them done with since were shocked at the condition of my nails. Should I have spoken up sooner? Probably - but halfway through they started rushing me out to get to the next customer, switching who was doing my nails, and I was just dying to leave. It's a bummer because it is a nice enough salon and the people who work there were polite, but the basics of filing and dip application are clearly lacking. Why make appointments when they don't even abide by them and still make you wait because they inserted another customer right before your appointment.They give such an attitude too and it's all about getting as many customers in and out and the quality has gone down drastically and yet they still expect the same big tip. The first time we came, my daughter was getting a regular manicure - nothing special - and we were very well-treated. Nothing over the top, but certainly nothing lacking. The second time, my daughter had a gel manicure which was done beautifully! I like this place. It is a little more expensive than our neighborhood shop, but the quality thus far has been excellent. I only gave 4 stars because we've only been there twice so I didn't want to go overboard. Oh, as for cleanliness, I do not have a single negative word to say about the place.
