The service was fine. I got the tonkotsu ramen and I would give it a 3.5 out of 5. Feel like the broth was a little bland and could've been more flavorful. I'm sorry me and my mom came here for our lunch and we were not able to eat anything we got. We got a normal shoyu ramen with spring rolls , spicy chicken and shrimp. Both chicken and shrimp were very chewy like it was raw and the spring rolls were slimy inside the ramen noodles texture felt like it was frozen the the bamboo felt like it was in a can. The service was great don't get me wrong we are not blaming the waiter it's just very disappointing that my first ever review on a place is bad. read more

I've been looking for a staple ramen spot in the area and this might be the top contender! I ordered the beef shoyu ramen and it was good! The broth was flavorful and overall I have no real complaints - I'm just picky about my ramen lol. Call me weird but I used to strongly dislike restaurant ramen before trying Naka. Not going to name names but there's a popular ramen bar with multiple locations in Houston and every single time I would smell and eat their ramen, I'd get nauseated and sick. I'm so glad my family wanted to try Naka because this is a solid choice for ramen in the area and made me realize I just needed to try a different place. The service we had last week was very attentive and quick and our waitress was so sweet! The unagi don wasn't bad but didn't come with the sides that were in the menu picture. I was looking forward to some pickled daikon. As for the ramen, you can choose from three types of noodles- I like the egg ones best- and the various bowls come with different toppings. I had the kid size shoyu ramen this most recent visit and the tonkatsu was also delicious. Next time I'm going for one of the spicy options with naruto/fish cakes. The food here was only okay. We had the fried chicken and the crab rangoon appetizers. For the main course, we had tonkotsu ramen and a spicy ramen. There was not enough spice by any means. Also, it took a long time to get the food. There appeared to be only one server who was handling the dining room as well as the numerous pickup orders. I really wanted to like this place but ultimately I left disappointed... For starters, the Karaage chicken had a soggy texture and it did not seem like it was fried very well. The chicken pieces were small and lacking in flavor, with the sauce only giving it a little bit of extra flavor. As for the ramen, while the noodles, pork chasu, naruto, and vegetables were all cooked decently, the soup broth was very bland and lacking in much flavor. When comparing to another Houston ramen shop like Tamashi ramen, the flavor of the broth just doesn't compare. Really hoping they can improve the flavor of the soup broth in the future. As for positives, the takoyaki was ok, and the server was very friendly and quick with our order as well. read more

Best ramen bar I've ever tried!! And believe it or not, the chicken wings are BOMB!!!

Not the biggest ramen fan but I came here cuz I was with someone who was craving katsu (which he really enjoyed). I got the vegan ramen and I actually pretty liked it. The broth wasn't too salty and had a good flavor, and I was able to spice it to my liking with the chili oil at the table. The veggies also paired really well with all the other flavors. My husband found Naka Ramen on google reviews and it was close enough to our house we had to try it out. We love ramen and it was perfect rainy cold ramen weather!! When we arrived we were quickly seated and checked out the menu. I have happy to see the vegan/vegetarian ramen options so I tried the vegan ramen and we ordered lychee sake. Both were delicious! The ramen had enough flavor and lychee sake is always delicious. The staff were all very kind and seemed like sweet people. I really wanna go back! My recent experience with this ramen shop was so upsetting I felt compelled to share. A server harassed our group--who were clearly younger customers--by making unfair assumptions about tipping. He told us there was a "tip minimum" and rudely stated, "This isn't McDonald's." When we calmly asked to speak to a manager, the server escalated the situation and actually said, "F** you."* That kind of language and aggression is completely unprofessional and has no place in any establishment, let alone one serving food to the public. This place seriously needs to reconsider who they allow to represent their business. We left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. I hope management takes this seriously and holds their staff accountable. Until then, I strongly recommend others avoid this restaurant. read more

Best chicken katsu Iv had, I come almost weekly for it and am never disappointed, and the service is always quick and welcoming

We wanted ramen and wanted to try someplace different. I never noticed this place before. It's right behind Spring Creek BBQ on Hwy 6. In my opinion, the taste, service, and ambiance of the restaurant was hands down better than where usually go. It is a 18 minutes farther, but it is well-worth the drive. My experience at Naka Ramen was alright. The service was a bit slow and they did not come to get our drink orders for a while. I had to ask them multiple times to refill my drink, but I do have sympathy because the restaurant does seem understaffed. For appetizers, we tried the salt and pepper chicken wings, the crab rangoon, chicken karaage, and the scallion pancakes. The food was flavorful and warm when they served it. My friend said her crab rangoon could have been a little more hot for her liking, and the chicken karaage was a little soggy. They also got our food fairly quickly compared to our drinks. For the mains we ordered the spicy miso ramen, the vegan ramen, the tonkotsu ramen, and the beef shoyu ramen. They were served hot and they all had a lot of toppings and the serving size was good for the price. The biggest problem we had was that later that day two out of four of us got nauseous and sick after eating. Lastly, the ambiance of the restaurant is perfect. The restaurant is intimate and the staff was very welcoming. My friends and I sat in a booth near the back of the restaurant and it was very quiet and serene. Overall our experience was good and there were not many complaints of the restaurant itself. read more

They have several options. I always go for the spicy miso ramen. It has pork, cabbage, wood ear, egg and more! It's a great level of spice and really good! My son always gets the regular miso. This place is new, and very fairly priced for your ramen fixes. The employees at the establishment are incredibly kind, and I was very happy with our service. The timing of the food was quick as well. There is ample seating and the dining room is well lit. Unfortunately, I may not come back as often here as I felt like I would be willing to shell out a few extra bucks for a bowl elsewhere as I don't eat ramen as often. I also prefer creamier broths. However, I could see this being the perfect fix for folks who are regulars. I opted for the vegan ramen. The broth was a bit too salty for me. I went once a year ago and it was fine. Today, I have a cold and I'm really congested. I bought two Tonkatsu. I requested one be spicy. When I arrived to pick it up, I asked, is one spicy?. The kid behind the counter with glasses said "yes". I asked is the one spicy clearly marked as spicy? Same kid said "yes". I got home and neither was marked and neither is spicy. Naka is good and classic. I recommend their Tan Tan noodles, chicken katsu ramen, and the beef noodle soup.

Went with the fam for the first time today. Service was top notch and the food was delicious. My only complaint is the sparse toppings. Two thin slices of char-su, a couple pieces of bamboo, and a spoonful of corn. For $15 a bowl, would have thought the portions would be a little more. read more

What a treat! The service, vibe, cleanliness, and food were all solid. I got the spicy Naka ramen and I'm so glad I did. It definitely wasn't too spicy (I'm someone who needs water with hot cheetos 3 chips in lol) but it hurt when it went down the wrong pipe lol. Noodles were awesome but the chashu was the true star. So unforgettably tender and juicy. That carried this review to four stars undoubtedly. The egg was pretty good just a bit too salty from the ramen eggs I usually prefer I think the only thing that threw me off was the spice- it didn't seem to have those traditional Japanese spice flavors but still palatable. I'd order again but wish there was that balance of the umamami sweet heat I'm used to having in spicy japanese dishes I'd definitely go again. Bonus the bowls are so cool and huge! Thoroughly enjoyed my Tonkotsu Ramen. The pork was so deliciously flavored -- unlike the lackluster pork in many other ramen places I've tried. Maybe next time I'll pay up for extra slices of pork. It was pork belly but wasn't like other places where the piece you get is 50% gooey fat -- it actually had a really good amount of meat to it. My husband enjoyed his Naka spicy ramen. The chicken karaage was pretty good but I felt like it could have used more breading to make it crispier. read more

Found a little ramen spot on Yelp! It's located in a small shopping center in Missouri City. It's a small place, but ample seating. I will say the smell when you walk in isn't the most pleasant. It smelled like bathroom. But after sitting in the restaurant long enough, you get accustomed to it. Our server was great - she was the only server for the whole restaurant and still provided quick and friendly service The soup it self was really good though! The broth was perfect and not too salty. Great new ramen place in sugar land. There aren't many places to get ramen around the area (besides Jinya), but I would definitely prefer Naka over Jinya. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and it was the best ramen out of all my friends' (they ordered spicy miso and spicy naka). My only critique is that I wish they gave us more broth because I felt like I had to keep rationing the broth so that my noodles didn't get too dry. This place is losing a star from me because we also ordered the chicken karaage and it was very disappointing. The chicken was not crispy at all and was oddly pale and un-flavorful. Jinya who? The tonkotsu ramen at Naka is so good, it will make you forget about all the other overpriced (and overrated) ramen of your past. Naka is a clean, quaint ramen shop in an underdeveloped shopping center on hwy 6 (entrance opposite of the Popeyes). I've taken a fairly thorough tour through the menu, and here's how they rank: Tonkotsu Ramen (5/5) - Second only to Ramen Bar Ichi, the tonkotsu ramen at Naka is loaded with perfectly cooked noodles, a complex milky pork broth, and the most savory chashu pork ever to grace your tongue. The soup is simple, but every layer builds upon the last, from the bite of the noodles to the luscious custard-like yolk of the ajitama egg. P.S. The ramen comes with 2 chashu pork.... but do yourself a favor and order an extra one (or five). Chicken Katsu Don (5/5) - This crispity crunchity chicken is everything you want in a katsu. Juicy chicken coated in a wonderfully flaky panko crust, yet somehow, not greasy at all. The katsu sauce is very... saucy. More wet and liquidy than the strange, thick BBQ-esque sauces I've experienced with other katsu dons. The kid's portion is the perfect size for an appetizer. Spicy Miso Ramen (3/5) - The broth was a lot more lackluster than I'd expected, but my brother seemed to really enjoy the spicy kick. They aren't shy to add spice, but I wish the soup had more flavor/depth. Chicken yakitori (3/5) - The huge hunks of chicken thighs were juicy and covered in a sticky sauce. They kind of remind me of the old-school bourbon chicken from the mall (in a good way). I only deducted one star because I felt like they could have been charred more, and the green onion pieces were ridiculously large. Pork gyoza (2/5) - They weren't the worst gyoza I've ever had. The filling tasted good enough, but the dumpling was overcooked. Takoyaki (2/5) - They didn't have enough octopus inside, which made it a little more doughy than I'm used to. I know my review seems to contradict the 5 star rating... but I don't need a restaurant to be good at everything. All I need is one thing to keep me coming back, and that thing here is the tonkotsu ramen. The fact that they have a bomb-ass chicken katsu don is just a super delicious bonus. read more

We went to Naka Ramen for lunch today -- today is day 3 of their soft opening.  We were pleasantly surprised & will be back. For our appetizer, we got the Chicken Karaage.  These deep fried, breaded chicken pieces were crispy on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside.  The only think I'd change is probably add a little bit more breading to make them even more crispy. The pork slices that come in the ramen are super delicious and savory.  I feel that they did an excellent job with perfecting their pork!  Compared to other ramen places, Naka's pork was really good & even my wife, who usually doesn't eat much of the pork at other ramen places, was eager to gobble it all up. I got the Spicy Naka Ramen.  It was just the right level of spice -- a solid medium spicy. My wife got the Tonkotsu Ramen.  The broth was tasty; rich but not too thick.  She subbed in a nori slice (seaweed) instead of the default bamboo & corn because she's trying to eat less canned food -- the nori was great & flavorful. They also have a vegan ramen!  We didn't get to try it, but it's great that they have that option. read more
