There's probably a bunch of ppl who will love this, I just didn't. The decor and concept are nice, open, and inviting. Ppl were friendly and the system is easy enough to understand. Prices are mid to high end and the quality of the food looks to match. Now here's the sad part, it just didn't taste so great. There was clear effort, so I feel bad that I just felt everything was mediocre. I chose the rice, steak, Mac and cheese, and almond green beans. The plate looked yummy. Unfortunately nothing on the plate was memorable. The steak: it is expensive at $18, and isn't a real steak, it's more of a lower quality cut, that seems baked. Not juicy, not tough but def not tender, and a little bland. Very lean cut with very little flavor. The Mac and cheese: not bad but again, a bit bland. Slightly over cooked, just nothing memorable. Almond green beans: no almonds, and again plain tasting. Even with the sauce it just wasn't exciting. Rice: not bad. It was decent rice. Overall the bowl filled me up but I was left with a craving for something ... yummy. The Naked Farmer was founded by Jordan Johnson during the pandemic in 2020 because he wanted to "build a better food system for all" by connecting farms to a restaurant serving the food to people. According to their website Naked Farmer is a "farm-to-fork new American restaurant serving seasonal, locally-sourced food from farms close to home. Food is sourced from farmers and partners we know on a first-name basis, brought in from the fields, and cooked by chefs who know their vegetables." There are currently three restaurants open. The first two are in Tampa where the company is based and in St. Petersburg. The third opened in October in South Florida in Coral Gables. This location in Sunrise is their newest with plans to open on Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale later this year. The restaurant concept is to build-your-own bowl which allows you to customize your meal. You pick a protein, one base, two sides and your choice of (un)dressing. Around 70 percent of the ingredients are sourced from local farms. There was a board on the wall that listed the farm names and they included Cactus Hat in Lutz, Dakin Dairy in Myakka City, C& B Farm in Clewiston, Quincy Cattle Company in Chiefland, Natalie's Orchid in Fort Pierce, Gratitude Garden in Loxahatchee, and many more from Miami to Ocala. The Naked Farmer supports local agriculture while making healthy and tasty food available to everyone. The menu is designed around the harvest season and it changes every two months. For my dinner I chose the rice base with grilled to order steak. Other proteins include chicken and salmon. It is very easy to eat vegetarian here. My two sides were broccoli and the seasonal strawberry fennel salad. They have water available but I also got one of their hibiscus lemonades. You can eat inside, on the patio, or take it to go. Every thing I tasted was super tasty and fresh. I drizzled the yummy cider vinaigrette over everything. I was a little disappointed that they were out of the macaroni and cheese but I enjoyed the seasonal strawberry and fennel salad I got instead. Fennel is not something I would normally eat but I actually liked it in this salad. The strawberries were so sweet and they were like a dessert for me. Anyone who cares about what they are fueling their body with and where it comes from and who wants to eat better without sacrificing taste will love the Naked Farmer. read more

I was not super impressed by this new farm fresh food concept restaurant because the choices are very limited. The base choices are not very exciting. I got the mixed farm greens, and it was the same as what I got from a bag at the grocery store. No mint detected. The brown rice has no seasoning, and the wheat berries are not good for a low-carb diet. The career brocolli was slightly charred, and the English cucumbers were big slices that were hard to cut in the salad bowl. They should be more sliced than spears of cucumber. The best part was the spicy harisssa dressing, which comes on the side, but it is served in a tiny cup, so if you order online for delivery, you will definitely want 2 little dressings. There is no soda machine. Beverage choices are tap water or bottled bougie juices/sodas. The dine in plates are melamine plastic, and they have real glass glasses and metal silverware. I hope they wash that stuff well. There is no employee bussing service, but there are drawers for you to put your used stuff into. This place is not child friendly in menu items, and the portion size is small, in my opinion, for the price. Service was not overly friendly in greeting the customer, and since everything is customized, if there are a few people in line to order, it could take a while to get your food. Meh...we were excited to have a new restaurant in our neighborhood and was hoping it would become a new favorite....well it didn't happen...we went with our neighbors and we were all let down. We all ordered different bowls so we could taste different items, started off thinking wow pretty tasty but as we got deeper and deeper into the food items it got worse...by the end we said never again. Also they are very expensive for what they are, fast food feel, have to get your own silverware (which was empty, they brought us some out and handed us wet silverware), we got our own water, I mean for over $100 meal we could have gone to a full service restaurant! read more

Went here for lunch with my mom. The concept is nothing new and exciting, as there are a ton of these make your own bowl places around South Florida. The difference is that the ingredients come from local farmers. Local can be stretching it because some of the farms come from at least 2 to 3 hours away so I don't necessarily call that local but it's better than getting a supply from someplace and let's say Iowa. The selections sound really good when you read the description, but I found that the execution was not as great. It's like each thing was missing one ingredient that would've put it over the top and it could've been something simple like salt and pepper, which I did not find anywhere on the table or up where the forks, knives and napkins are. The macaroni and cheese was good, but very heavy and rich in my opinion. The strawberry and fennel salad was entirely too tart because the strawberries were not ripe enough and I'm not sure why they thought green onion would be a good addition to that salad. I had one teeny piece of mint in there and I thought it definitely could've used more. The rosemary chicken was OK but a little dry. The brown rice with parsley was cooked perfectly, nice and fluffy. My mom really enjoyed the beets that she got in her bowl as well as the mushrooms. I did not find that the sauce (cilantro avocado) lent anything other than moisture. The hibiscus honey lemonade was so-so as the honey overpowered the other flavors. I think this place will do pretty well because the gym is in this plaza and a lot of people will come here after a work out and the business complex across the street will add some traffic as well. I am not sure if I would go back because the flavors don't justify me spending almost $20 for a bowl. I came across Naked Farmer while running an errand. It was still under construction. But, I got excited! Because the food they were planning to serve was farm to table. And... it's absolutely awesome! Ingredients are clean, fresh and locally sourced. There's no compromise here. Normally healthy food can be bland or lacking flavor. But, not in this place. Food is full of flavor. Naked Farmer is more than a Fast Casual restaurant. They serve you on reusable bowls (not styrofoam). No paper cups here iether! Their mission aligns with mine.... They help the environment and small businesses while serving great tasting food. It also has a very spacious indoor seating and a nice cozy outdoor area. Best thing...I save gas. I don't have to drive to Miami, Fort Lauderdale or any other place outside my neighborhood to get a good quality meal. Honestly... between Chipotle and Panera ( sometimes they are not even consistent) I choose Naked Farmer any day! read more

My fiancé order the southern comfort plate and I had the wild mushroom plate, it was the only meal we had all day. We tried from one another's plates, food was decent nothing amazing, beverages were delicious. We probably ate around 2pm, went home, went to bed around 9pm. Woke up around 2:30am feeling very nauseous. Here I am 3 hours later, I won't go into details but neither end is safe from what I'm 100% sure is food poisoning. Update** Came here on Sat 5/26/24 Staff using their dirty gloves to touch the register. Grabbing everything with wet gross gloves. Flies everywhere landing on the food. The staff was waving their hands to shoo them. I loved my 1st visit but to be honest there were a couple flies that day too which I figured was a one time thing. But frankly I had a stomach ache all night after this food. I am not coming back. The manager should put a fly zapper outside the front door or inside a suction as you walk in like other restaraunts. read more

Brought it back to my office which is 5 minutes away and had to reheat the food, understandably - maybe. Let's get into the particulars: The farro was undercooked! The mac and cheese was also undercooked and dry. Naked Farmer you are not invited to the cookout! Lol The steak was ok. It is definitely was a lower cut, soft but chewy. Not the most flavorful and nothing to write home about. The broccoli was the best thing in the bowl! And the sauce is not saucing. Whatever this red sauce is, is definitely not well paired with a southern bowl. Probably moreso for a Tex max bowl. I also purchased a honey hibiscus lemonade in the store which I liked! Finally a place that can make healthy food taste good! I've never dined in, so I can't speak to the service or ambience, but ordering from here for Lunch is great. Good packaging and this type of food travels well. The eye round or beef is very tender and well seasoned and cooked. I understand and appreciate that eating high quality food costs money, but $30 lunch (delivered) is steep and puts eating lunch here frequently out of reach for some people. Perhaps management can figure out a smaller portion or lunch special? I'll have beef, with meat and more beef. read more
