My steak was perfectly prepared. The fat was rendered and as soon as I bit into any part that was marbled the cell walls broke apart and that fat was like a liquid butter it was rendered so exquisitely. The meat was as tender as you could ask for and for giggles I tried cutting it with the back of the knife, I cut through it like it was air. The potatoes were just the right mix of tender and firmness, and the demi glacé was right in the sweet spot between thick and thin. At the end I was able to scoop it up with a fork and not have it dribble out between the tines. Seasoning was on point, and the broccolini was blanched to perfection and made for the ultimate palate cleanser at the end of the meal. Lolo's paper plane. Our favorite restaurant in Hyannis! We come here every year. The menu seems to change a little bit. I really miss their clam chowder! I wish they would put it back on their menu. We had heard some very solid reviews about one of the places with oyster in the name in Hyannis and I'm somewhat confident that it was this place. We decided to drop in recently and fortunately, were seated immediately without a reservation. It was a week night just before Labor Day if memory serves. They have the obligatory man-shucking-oysters by the entrance. We were escorted to our table in the back room. The very first thing I noticed was a brick wall in the form of a smell of baby and not good baby. Like diapers or doody. The source was immediately clear as there was a long table of at least half children and some adults. Legit like a kid's bday party but in an oyster restaurant. This shit was like full on kids crying, being loud, coughing everywhere, literally dangling out of and off the chairs. There were strollers. It was a nightmare. It's definitely not Naked Oyster's fault but I wondered where I was for a moment. I guess baby sitters are expensive in Hyannis. The second thing I noticed were the gigantic arm chairs flanking our table. Not only were they very comfortable but also aesthetically pleasing and a nice touch. The menu has some really hot ticket items which makes it impossible to choose. I was debating between the cheese plate and another appetizer but ultimately felt compelled to order the smoke show burrata which is a really unique dish. It is served under a glass barrier filled with smoke which is then gently lifted to reveal the burrata glob which, SHOCKER, has a nice, smoky flavor. The glob is accompanied by arugula, roasted cherry tomatoes, and slices of crispy bread. So good. GF ordered some fresh oysters which she liked and thankfully didn't give her Vibrio. I thought I was clever as shit ordering their vegetarian Thai bowl with rice noodles, book chow, peanut lime sauce, haricot vert, carrots, squash, cashews. I also was impressed by their numerous vegetarian options. Unfortunately, this was a HUGE miss for me. The sauce was literally so sweet it did not suffice as a dinner entree. It's almost like someone tripped carrying sugar which subsequently over poured into the sauce. It was so unpleasant I couldn't even finish it. Very disappointing. GF ordered their summer risotto with corn, arugula, carrots, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan Reggiano which, in very stark contrast to my main, was absolutely incredible. I snuck as many forkfuls as I could when she wasn't looking. This is definitely some of the best risotto I have had in recent memory and it was absolutely divine. Other than the fact that I overheard from another table that our server is literally in college and therefore making me feel elderly AF, the service was pretty good. She was nice and took good care of us until we wanted the bill and then she was MIA. I got so tired of waiting I literally just stood up next to the table because it was ridiculous. Food - 3 stars. We got the Naked Oysters to start which didn't taste too briny though the vinegar and sauce lacked flavor. I got the scallops which came with turmeric sauce and pea mash on the side. The scallops were cooked well but the rest of the dish was sickly sweet to the point where I just ate the scallops and nothing else. For $34 it just wasn't worth it. read more

I had a wonderful dinner here last Friday! I was looking for a good restaurant that was open until at least 9/10 pm and semi on the way between Falmouth and Wellfleet. After doing some research, The Naked Oyster fit the bill! I arrived at around 8 PM and sat at the bar. There were 3 different ladies working behind the bar and they were all friendly and attentive. I started with an espresso martini and it was made beautifully. I then decided to get 2 raw oysters and 2 shrimp from the raw bar menu. The oysters were shucked and everything was plated right in front of me. The oysters were briny and delicious and the shrimp were large and fresh. I wanted to get more, but had already ordered the duo of ahi tuna as my entree and wanted to have room for that. The ahi tuna duo came as 1/2 seared tuna and half spicy tuna tartare. The seared tuna was to die for! So fresh and obviously of good sushi quality. I was less impressed by the spicy tartare and felt that it lacked a bit of the spicy punch I was expecting. It wasn't enough of a complaint to downgrade the restaurant to a 4, though. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Lastly, some folks nearby were having an oyster shooter, so I decided to try one for myself. I had never had one before and and I was feeling very "treat yo'self"! It was only like $5.50 or something and contained about 2 shots worth of vodka AND an oyster. Whoo-boy! No complaints from me! We dropped by the naked oyster for some oysters before dinner and it was definitely a great choice. The oysters are shucked right at the bar. Although it did take a little longer for the oysters to arrive it was definitely worth the wait and our waiter kept us informed and apologized for the wait very nicely. The oysters were very fresh and the cocktail sauce was really nice. We got a dozen and they were about $2.66 each which is on the pricier side but it they were very high quality. The food is prepared perfectly with attention to detail and servers who are cognizant of the diners anticipated needs with out being overly intrusive. It's an intimate spot with the perfect ambiance and lighting. They had the freshest oysters the nicest selection of fine wines. It is really nice in here. I wanted to love this place BUT- the hostess was indifferent, the server was stuck up, and the lighting hitting me in the face made me feel I was dining on a landing strip. The cheap plexiglass partitions between the booths was as tacky as the odd wall of plywood, and no music, in a room that was beautifully done otherwise. The mushroom risotto was over done, the swordfish chop was fantastic. The menu said "oyster shooters" $4 ea, $2.50 to add vodka. I asked for two oyster shooters and was brought two with vodka. Lucky I asked if these had alcohol in these (20 years sober), and she said "yes you asked for oyster shooters...THESE are oyster shooters and they come with vodka"! It was like, She enjoyed being condescending! I responded with "the menu says, "oyster shooters" $4 ea, $2.50 to add vodka. "Oh"... Then I asked for dinner rolls and they were brought. (Amazing by the way) then she took away the basket without asking if we might want more. Loved this place! We came here during COVID with two babies and my sister and her boyfriend! They were super attentive and made sure we had everything we need! We tried so many things and loved them all! The Oysters Rockefeller and Grilled Shrimp were our most favorite appetizers! I'm still thinking about them!! For dinner we had the Swordfish steak special, the duck confit, the Sea Scallops and the Lobster & Haddock! All of which were absolutely amazing! This is the fifth of seven reviews from a quick visit to Hyannis on Valentine's Day weekend. This was a major disappointment. As you can see from my previous reviews, my wife and I have gone to the Naked Oyster several times over the last 20 years, but this time was different. There is no way to reserve a table online, so I called throughout the day to do so. I finally got through slightly after 4:00 and made a reservation. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated in a cramped booth in the back corner. Being older and somewhat obese, we were unable to sit at that table, so we asked the waitress if we could move. There were several empty tables, so I did not view it as an issue. When the waitress came back and said we couldn't move, we spoke with the manager, who coldly informed us that we were the last reservation, so we got the worst table. No apologies, no empathy, just bureaucratic disinterest. We left, vowing to never return. The next review is for Embargo. read more

This is an upscale raw bar and seafood experience worth splurging for while in the Cape. Naked has a great location on Main St. in Hyannis. A few outdoor seats and a very nice interior with two rooms of tables and a large raw bar with seating. We started outside and a crazy thunderstorm rolled in. The folks at the restaurant handled it perfectly and got us moved in at tables despite having a full night of reservations. Food was terrific. Grilled watermelon and octopus, with pea tendrils and house made potato chips. The octopus was tender and perfectly cooked. Seasoned like a chorizo sausage and the bite with the pea greens and chips was fantastic. We did 8 raw oysters and they were super fresh and delicious. Found out they are Barnstable oysters from the owners farm. Very cool. The salmon on the menu came out perfectly cooked. Super crispy skin and still moist and flaky on the inside. Butternut squash puree, bok choy, and roasted carrots on the side. Beautiful plate and delicious. Thai shrimp and noodles with a peanut sauce was excellent. They nailed the Thai sour, sweet, spicy flavors. Generous use of ginger really made the dish excellent. The Al la Plancha - a mix of seafood prepared in a variety of ways. Two generous cuts of ahi tuna with sautéed bok choy and a wasabi cream. So good. Two sea scallops, caramelized and seasoned perfectly over more of that butternut squash purée. Amazing. Grilled zucchini with a smokey tomato sauce. So good. 4 large shrimp with a parmesan risotto and grilled cherry tomatoes...perfect. We enjoyed an excellent bottle of white from a nice sized wine menu. Desert also did not disappoint. Key lime stack and the chocolate mousse with candied pecans over espresso....wow. If I could give this restaurant a sixth star, I would. I just had the best scallop dish that I have every eaten. I would not have dessert or coffee afterwards because I want to keep the flavors as long as possible. It was not just that the scallops were perfectly cooked. It is also that it was accompanied by food that matched the dinner and tasted even better than the great scallops. They were served over a bed of pureed turnips, bacon, kale, mushrooms, and other morsels. The combination worked perfectly. I don't know how. The balance was incredible. I could not decide which bite to have next. I started with the quohog appetizer which was stuffed with the right mix of breading and chorizo. My God, was it an interesting flavor combination. The cool seafood with the slight spice. Yum. My wife really enjoyed their signature haddock and lobster meat over asparagus and fingerling potatoes. We just savored every bite. We came in the off season. The service was impeccable. This is my new favorite be restaurant on the Cape. Meet me there. read more

The proprietor of the place I was staying at talked up Naked Oyster so grandly that I grew convinced he was a silent partner. Perhaps it was just foodie chatter but his sensual description of their Swordfish Cheek (a special, $32) left me turning away in discomfort. He was selling it big time then went in for the close: "Would you like me to call and ask them to hold a serving for you?" I stammered a "no thanks" and shut down the conversation. Then I went to Naked Oyster. As I sat at the bar sharing a lovely Argentinian Malbec I failed to resist the allure of their Chilled Seafood Tower ($65; oysters, clams, shrimp, tuna, & lobster), something I've had on my bucket list for almost 2 years now. It didn't disappoint. There's no way you can consume a Seafood Tower without feeling, at the very least, like you live a charmed life. And, should you really wish to indulge you can add a bottle of Nicolas Feuillate Champagne for an additional $45. Next time, next time. While turning my Seafood Tower into nothing more than melting ice and bivalve shells I glanced at the man beside me. He was busily devouring a massive piece of fish and the risotto upon which it sat before I interrupted. "That is...?" I inquired, nodding at his entree. "Swordfish Cheek" (of course). They had not yet run out of this special so I quickly made certain there was one left for me. The Swordfish Cheek can vary greatly in size and the one I received was far smaller than that of my bar mate. Regardless, it was ample and lived up to the hype. A little crock of fresh strawberries and basil bathed in balsamic vinegar and accompanied by a thin sheath of chocolate closed out diner perfectly. After such a satisfying meal I strolled Hyannis and was left with the distinct impression that I'd chosen well. Naked Oyster serves very good seafood in upscale, sparkly surroundings. The bar is a great place from which to partake of everything they have to offer. Be certain to call dibs on that Swordfish Cheek upon arrival (or earlier, if so inclined); you won't regret a visit here or a plate of that. read more

Started out fine with appetizers, but when it came to the main entrees - strictly the saffron bouillabaisse - it was terrible. My husband and daughter ordered it and the broth was green instead of yellow. There was dirt because the mussels were not thoroughly cleaned. To make it worse, the chef came to ask about the dish and she saw that my husband's dish was not right and made another dish for him. It was the same. Instead of taking it off the bill. I love when you sit down with the menu and can't decide because there are so many great options. This is the naked oyster, so because everything sounded good we each ended up ordering our own appetizer, soup and entrees and of course were stuffed, but hey that's adventurous indecisiveness right? We walked in right at 7pm on a Saturday and just barely got in without reservations. Decorated and feels like a good date night spot or gathering with friends. Extensive wine and drinks menu too for that! Here's what the night looked like in terms of food, all other stuff like service and atmosphere were great. Here are the winners (if on the fence between the two we went with): Lobster bisque vs clam chowder Winner: lobster bisque for the richer flavor as the chowder wasn't quite like on Martha's Vineyard chock full of clams and flavor layers as some places. Tuna two ways vs baked oyster sampler Winner: Tie! oyster sampler for flavor and variety and creativity. But tuna was presented beautifully as well and seared perfectly rare. Flounder and lobster vs scallops and little necks (dish names differ since I can't really remember right now) Winner: flounder w lobster sautéed on the bed of polenta. This is for the creative combination and perfection of flounder searing. The lobster sautéed with corn and spinach was a great topping to the fish and with lots of lobster chunks all cooked to perfection. The polenta was creamy and rich and complimented the dish well. The scallops were cooked to perfection too but over all the complexity and variety of rich flavors of the flounder dish took it as well as for presentation The scallops and clams sat in an interesting broth with a slice of bok choy. read more

It just so happened we were lucky enough to go here during Cape Cod restaurant week so we each went with the 4 course pre-fixe ($35/person). We sat at the sleek bar while waiting for our table and my eyes were undressing the raw oyster bar the entire time. Too bad they were already naked! These little gems apparently come from the restaurant's own oyster farm at Barnstable Bay. Sold. We started with those and they were by far the best oysters I had while visiting the Cape. And I ate a lot of oysters on that trip. For the first course of the pre-fixe, we went with the Chatham mussels and apple pistachio bisque. I could probably count the number of mussels on one hand, but it was clearly meant to be a teaser. The apple bisque, on the other hand, was a generous portion. A little too sweet for the lady but perfect for me. For round two, we went with the beet salad, which I loved, and the baby spinach salad. Though simple, the spinach was light and refreshing. For the entree course, the swordfish was a little overcooked and thus dry. I had the Cape Cod pappardelle (local littlenecks, mussels, and diver scallops sauteed with fava beans in a sherry pan sauce garnished Pecorino Romano). This was awesome, and it was the first time I ever had black pappardelle, which made for a great color contrast with all the seafood. For dessert, the strawberry short cake didn't blow me away, but the chocolate hazelnut pannacotta was bangin'. The total came to just over $140 before tip, but to be fair, our bottle of Trimbache to pair with the meal made up for about 25% of the total. Side note: Amy was an awesome server. although I had always known that Naked Oyster is a great place, we had a truly amazing experience the other day for lunch. we were the only people in the entire restaurant which allowed us to get stellar service and maybe even a little bit of special treatment. We sat at the bar and Aiste took amazing care of us. She was friendly, gave us amazing menu advice and made us feel right at home. to start off, we had the fig martini which was possibly the best drink I have ever had in my life. Fig vodka, a bit of fig purée and blue cheese stuffed olives. the sweet and salty mixture was beyond amazing. I am already craving another. We also each had an oyster shooter which were Also impressive; a nice pour of pepper vodka, bloody mix, and their fresh oysters. I was impressed to hear that they have their own oyster farm. Because of this, we decided to order traditional raw oysters and their oyster stew as appetizers. I highly suggest that you try the oyster stew. it is $14.00 which seems pricey for a cup of soup, but the portion is hearty, their are 4-5 large full oysters within and the taste is out of this world. I have never enjoyed a soup more! as entrees, we shared the Ahi duo which featured ahi tartare and a sesame crusted seared ahi which were both excellent. I preferred the tartare which was served with crispy wontons but my friend liked the seared ahi. the presentation of this dish was beautiful. if you are looking for a nice Instagram picture, get it! :) the roasted beet Reuben thAt we got was one of the most interesting thing we ordered..:anywhere. it was a tradition Reuben served with roasted beets instead of pastrami and damn was it good! who knew?! if you like trying unique items, this will do the trick. we can't wait to come back (as you can tell) read more

During our vacation in Hyannis, we looked up awesome seafood restaurants on yelp and this place caught my eye. This place was delicious as promised. We ordered a bunch of appetizers (oysters, cheese plate, clam chowder soup) and all were really yummy. The baked oyster sampler was pretty awesome, which came with 6 oysters with 3 different types of toppings. The raw oysters were amazing as well (highly recommend them!). I got the lobster as my entree here, shared with a family member. It was an entire lobster (pleasantly surprising!) and came with nice sides (potatoes and veggies). The lobster was well cooked, moist and tasty. The restaurant seems to fill up fast, so make a reservation! It's has a nice contemporary feel to it, and we got to sit by the window, which was nice to see the atmosphere of Hyannis. Well recommended! read more
