This is the best Thai food. I am obsessed with the beef drunken noodles and the pineapple chicken fried rice! The basil wraps were also delicious!!

Nam Khong is an unassuming Laosian restaurant in a shopping plaza anchored by a hardware store. The food is served fresh and hot. This is one of our favorite spots for a healthy, quick, and delicious meal!! Heads up, it gets busy when the summer residents arrive. The restaurant is on Rte 1 in Westerly. Wonderful family run operation. This makes all of the difference!

After many many months of not eating here- hubby and I were greeted by the owner- by name! That's always very impressive. He chit chatted with us even before we could look at the menu but not in a bad way- we totally enjoyed the conversation and it made us feel like catching up with family. For starters we ordered the fried spring rolls with chicken and the fried Brussels sprouts. They make it so good here. It was perfect. Had to keep myself from licking the plates! Hubby opted for the Lao style Seafood Pho. The selling point was that it's made with real chicken broth- not msg filled bouillon. It had lots of scallops, a few shrimp and some tender squid. I chose the ginger duck. It had a nice gingery sauce with ginger matchsticks, snow pea pods, baby corn, peppers, and onions. The duck was nice and crispy. I also had a pot of Thai green tea. I've never had it before but it was very floral almost like a jasmine tea but I couldn't put my finger on it. Also smelled sweet like dulce de leche or something. The only thing was -- it's seriously green! Like spirulina kombucha lol. I really enjoyed it and I am a huge tea drinker. Peter, the owner, seems to like it a lot too! He says that since he's discovered the tea, he's been drinking it daily. While eating - there were about 3 take out orders, another couple eating, and a group of 7 who seemed to be on their lunch break and they called in their orders. All the apps were ready upon arrival and they only had to wait 5 min max for the rest of their food. They seem to make a trip to Nam Khong quite often. They offer beer and wine now. There are also 2 small tables for outdoor dining. Please give this place a shot! The food here is delicious!

Food was excellent and service was great, they answered any question we had and did so with a smile.

    32. Khao Sol -- stunning noodle soup in yellow curry. This one is with chicken. You can get it with pork, beef, seafood or duck, too.

I never write Yelp reviews because who actually cares enough to write one...but this restaurant is so, so good. Will be coming back.

Good prices, generous portions, excellent food. One of my favorite take-out places around. Love the pad-see-u and any pho.

The owners are from Bangladesh, and they are quick to point out that this is not an East Indian restaurant but a fusion restaurant (I have never been clear on what a fusion restaurant is other than expanded menu). There were a number of dishes normally seen on menu from an Indian restaurant but no Nan bread. Instead they have paratha which if found I liked more The food was excellent. Previous cautions regarding wait time for food correct as I think every thing is freshly made rather than scooped up from last weeks offering. The ambience was modest (think small town diner rather than five star Michelin restaurant). I am more interested in quality of food. They do have a nice outdoor space. They caution regarding how hot you order food. My wife ordered it at 1/10 and was good. I have the Fireman's bowl and I think that is a 3 or 4 out of 10. I asked to have an order of Dal for take out at the heat that the chef usually eat it at. After signing a consent form and waiver (joking) she gave me an order of dal at 8/10. I tried it at this heat and yes, probably should have a glass of milk or some yogurt to cut the heat. I will try a 10/10 next time. All I all an excellent experience and one to be repeated.

The menu had a little bit of everything ranging from Thai to sushi to Vietnamese, a very fusion type feel to it. The service was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. Three items were ordered and tried. They consisted of the sushi nachos ($14.95), bao buns with chicken katsu ($12.95) and the Mystic River roll ($19.95). The nachos had diced tuna, sliced avocado, Pico de Gallo, topped with spicy avocado sauce and tobiko and served over fried wonton skins. There was a nice portion here. I thought they were going to be small wontons, but this was a pleasant surprise. There was a great ratio of flavors, and I really enjoyed the small dicing of everything. The bao buns were topped with sliced cucumbers, spring onions, carrots, and some type of sweet hoisin sauce it appeared. The chicken was very crispy and tasty. The bun was okay. It was a little tough. I did enjoy the sweet factor from the sauce to pair with the hot and crunchy chicken. The Mystic River roll had tuna, salmon, mango, as well as avocado topped with spicy mayo and was wrapped in a rice wrapper. This was alright. There was a lot of mayo present, which took away from the fish flavor, but it still was not bad. The rice wrapper was an interesting choice, but overall, okay. Will I go back? Probably.

The sushi we got was really fresh and fantastic. I got the orange chicken as an entrée and it was very crispy and the chicken meat was good inside. I also got a lychee martini, which kinda has a melon/passionfruit kind of flavoring to it if you're not familiar with lychee. We got the Bamba for dessert. I'm not usually a fan of peanut butter, but this one was really good. The weight staff was super nice and attentive the whole time, it was also very sweet that at the end of our meal they brought out a small gift for my brother to unwrap now my brother and his wife come to this restaurant often so I thought maybe this was just something they were doing because they knew them but when asked, they said that they do this for all the customers and I thought that was the coolest thing. My brother ended up opening up a car phone mount which was very practical and useful and something he actually needed. Overall, this place was definitely a 10 out of 10 will be coming back for sure. Next time I'm in Mystic.

My kids loved the avocado and shrimp tempura rolls, which they both add so fast. My wife enjoys her scallops and ordered the scallon in black bean sauce. She said the scallop is fresh and tastes sweet. Couldn't help it but I did steal some of scallop and can confirm it was fresh and sweet. For a lunch special we ordered general tso and sesame chicken which were both crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated with a generous amount of sauce. The lunch special comes with a choice of soup. My kids chose the egg drop soup and I chose the hot and sour soup. Both soups were good. Why not 5 star? I thought the bathroom could use some improvement? At first my wife said it smelled like poop, and I really thought it was just her thinking that. Keep in mind that its 2 bathrooms, one for the ladies and one for the gents. When I stepped into the restroom for men, I immediately was overtaken by the smell of poop. They need to improve their ventilation system and also put in some air freshener. If it weren't for the bathroom issue, I'd definitely rate this place 5 stars. Food was amazing, would definitely come here again.
