My Indian food experience has been relatively limited, as I've only had fair to good Indian food in Seattle (and good to great in Vancouver, BC.) But this place really blew me away. I was uber surprised to see only one review. My bf grew up in different parts of London, Camdentown being one of his favorite neighborhoods. I was excited to try something new...something that I never had before, and they delivered! The service was super, the manager talked to us about Namaaste being their second restaurant. (The owner is a flight attendant for BA, if I recall correctly.) The true ambience was hard to determine as there were only two other tables that early for dinner, but the decor was nice. The tables are a wee small; we had to juggle the plates and drinks for 4 people on the table. The softshell, deep-fried crab was delectable. Better than any I've ever had stuffed in a sushi roll, which seems to be the only way you can get fried softshell crab at home. For my main course, I had the Pistachio Chicken Korma, with little flakes of silver sprinkled over the top. Maybe that's dated as far as food prep goes, but I still liked it! The rice and naan were delicious and complemented the rich, savory sauces. Prices were in line for the quality of food. In case you can't tell, I'm a nut for pistachio-anything. Pun intended that time. I apologize. So I ordered the sexiest Pistachio ice cream I've ever seen. (See photo.) It was a perfect end to a perfect meal. We will go back to see if it still wows us like it did the first time. What a neat find!

We were in search of some curry and stumbled upon this place. I was surprised that it was absolutely delicious...possibly some of the best curry I've ever had. Not to mention they had A/C and cold beer on a very hot day!

It's a OK indian restaurant. Not the best in london of course but also not that bad considering there are a lot of traps in Camden. If you are a nearby and you want Indian food, it's a fair choice. We tried Chicken Tikka, Vegetables and a couple of naan/rice. Food was overall OK. The cheese naan was just a naan with Cream cheese on it.

Terrific biryani. They bake it into a pie! My girlfriend got the pistachio chicken korma and that was also excellent.

The service was very slow and the food was dry and overlooked. It tasted like our starters we all reheated. Would NOT recommend.

We had a private downstairs room that felt very classic London--cozy, intimate, and with ceilings low enough that the "watch your step/head" warning is definitely real. The food was fantastic across the board, and the cocktail I ordered was just as good. What really stood out was the service. They handled a large group effortlessly and made the whole experience feel special. Pro tip: if you're deciding between lunch and dinner, the lunch feast is a much better value and still feels like the full Gymkhana experience. I'd absolutely come back.

For me, Gymkhana absolutely lived up to the hype. Although they offer a set lunch menu, I went à la carte to try exactly what I wanted: Chicken Butter Masala, an Indian Onion & Green Chilli Salad, and Garlic Naan (which I appreciated they offer in single pieces). For drinks, I started with their signature Masala Margarita, paired the meal with a Salty Masala Lassi, and finished with a Masala Chai. It was more food than I usually eat, but it was too good not to finish. Every dish was outstanding--bold, layered flavors with distinct character. It really highlighted how exceptional Indian cuisine can be. The drinks had creative twists and complemented the food beautifully. Service was warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling formal or rushed. I could tell the staff would gladly accommodate special requests if needed. It was all very deserving of its two Michelin stars. Total bill: GBP 94 including drinks, service, etc. One tip for first-time visitors: go easy on the rice and bread. The other dishes are far too good to fill up on carbs.

I went for the bottomless chai , which is an absolute must and it was really good. They serve it in a glass , which to be honest feels a little bit convenient since it's piping hot. We got the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan (nothing to write home about here). We also got the Samosa chaat as an appetizer, which me and my sister both enjoyed. I also decided to get the chicken ruby curry, which seemed to be very popular across all the review platforms. It was.... OK. lol. Overall, none of the food here is bad. It's just I think this establishment gets so much hype for what it is. This location is particularly historic as it was built on a trade spot between Indians and the British; the place maintains most of the architecture from more than 100 years ago. Service here is pretty good too. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were able to get high table seatings.

One of our group has a tomato allergy and we weren't sure how much of a selection he would have. The waitress went back and redlined the menu to show what he could have, what he couldn't, and what they might be able to alter. Super nice and it didn't take more than a few minutes. As for the food, a-maz-ing Indian. I recommend their prawn special - not too spicy but very flavor forward. The naan was a nice side to order as well. This location is fairly big with seating on the main floor, downstairs, and outside in a cover lounge area. We had a reservation, although they probably could have handled us if we didn't. That said, it was a busy weekend and the place looked fairly full by the time we left, so maybe grab a reservation. Enjoy!

The Chicken Ruby was rich, spicy, and packed with flavor, the naan was perfect for soaking up every bit of sauce, and the okra fries were so crunchy I couldn't stop eating them. As soon as you walk in, they offer to hang your coat. The young lady who was our server for the evening gave us the best recommendations--I wish I knew her name. They had the perfect amount of grill flavor and were very saucy and well seasoned. There was no classy way to eat them--they were that good. For our entrées, we ordered the goat shoulder and the half rack of lamb chops. The half rack is more than enough for one person, especially with naan and rice. The reviewers were not lying when they said you must try the lamb chops. They came out sizzling, and we laughed because it took us back to dining at Chili's (iykyk). Perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The same goes for the goat shoulder. This was my first time trying it, and I was very impressed with how good it tasted. While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. Everything here tasted spectacular, including the chili naan. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
