This is definitely the best Indian food ever. I have tried many other places in Albuquerque. I thought, there must be a place just as good in town. But nope! Namaste, has the tastiest food, by far. So delicious. I love the chicken vindaloo. It's spicy, and the sauce you could just eat that and be satisfied. I crave this place. Too bad I don't live closer, or I would be here all the time. Such great Nepalese food! The Saag and the Vindaloo are my favorites. Last visit I had the shrimp vindaloo and I'm still thinking of it with pleasure. The food, service and ambiance at Namaste are perfect! We love to dine in or get take out. The buffet is yummy for lunch too (check their schedule, it's a few days a week). My favorites are the tandoori chicken, rice pudding, chai, naan and spinach dish (I can't remember the name). My niece always orders a variety of items and everything g I have tasted has been yummy! Indian food is our favorite food and we enjoy it eating it all over the world from Iceland to Hawaii and even in Tibet (which was our favorite by the way). So we were really excited to see that this was an Indian/Nepalese restaurant. The person that took our order was very friendly and gave us some great suggestions of different foods to try. They told us that our food would be ready in about 30 minutes. We showed up and were a bit confused when we arrived as, what looked like the main door, had a sign that said, "Go to the North door" with an arrow pointing towards the street side. We walked to the front, but there was no door there, so we walked around to the other side to finally find the only entrance. No big deal... let's get our food, right?!?!? I walk in and wait in a long line to give them my name and tell them that I am here to pick up my to go order. "Oh, we are so sorry, it is almost ready. What car are you driving? We will bring it right to your car" How nice I thought. So I gave them a description of my vehicle and paid for the meal, and left a generous tip for this extra special service. I waited 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes... 20 MINUTES... TWENTY FIVE MINUTES. Finally I go back inside to see if they brought my order to the wrong vehicle. "Oh, we are so sorry, it is almost ready." So I wait another 5 minutes and then I realize that it has now been ONE SOLID HOUR since I placed my order. I happen to listen to another caller for delivery and was glad to hear that at least they were telling this person to expect a 40 minute wait for their food. At least they were getting closer to the truth. Finally, our order is ready, but since this place was so far away from the Air BnB where we are staying I thought to myself, "Better check over everything just to be sure" The meal was correct, but the owner was watching me like a hawk for some reason as I quickly checked our order to make sure it was all there. Finally I had to let her know that we were staying far away and did not want to have to drive back in case anything was missing. Everything was correct and I wished her a "Namaste" on my way out... partly to make nice and partly to remind myself that life happens and this is one of those moments and not to let it get to you. They got slammed. No biggie. I give them a three star because it was just okay. Not bad, but not in the top 50 of any indian food that we have ever had. Loved the crunchiness of their vegetable pakora, but it was too bready with very little spinach. Also their tamarind sauce was quite watered down instead of a nice thick paste. Their Malai Kofta was probably our favorite dish with a nice amount of nuts and a great texture to the Kofta. It was complemented with a good thick gravy that my wife and I both loved. Definitely recommend this dish. We asked if they could make a Paneer Butter Masala and they assured us that they could, but after trying it, I would not recommend anyone repeat our request. The gravy was very thin and tasted a bit off. The paneer was also few and far between and very hard to find anywhere in this dish. The initial taste should have been our clue to put this one aside, but sadly we did not heed nature's early warning signs. This meal gave me and my wife indigestion all night long, and left me feeling a bit ill into the next morning. Ending on a very positive note, I did appreciate their Nepalese recommendation, the Vegetable Momo and found their Momo sauce to be thick and full of great spices and flavors. Definitely recommend this to anyone to try. We may have just hit them when they were busy and ordered some dishes that did not show off their best side, but doubt that we will return to give them another shot based on the long wait time and the other items that I mentioned. I was in the restaurant industry for many moons as a corporate chef - this food is not the best sadly I was hoping for the best since I live near by. They would grab the water cups from the top and the food temp was off the food was lacking flavor and then in the end dessert was not around until right when we were leaving. The chicken in this dish was always tender, now it looks like leftover tandoor chicken is being used in the recipe and it is really rubbery. I double checked to order and the server was sooooo informative! Shilpa showed me that I was truly safe there and explained some things about what foods could be in different plates, but she knew the menu like the back of her hand. The owner of restaurant is very kind and welcoming and gives you the warm fuzzy feeling like you're at her home. Food menu is vast and there are many options. A bit disappointed that the only offering was the buffet but they did a great job and making sure it was clean and safe. We went on President's Day. It is very clean, your greeted warmly. After being taken to sit, water and an appetizer is brought promptly. We ordered Chi tea, it was warm, delicious and satisfying. We ordered our food, in no time we were served. The flavor of the food matched the aroma. We had desert, it was the end of a great meal. They observed all State mandates, we were comfortable. This is our absolute favorite Indian restaurant in/around Albuquerque. I am originally from England and a good curry is something I was missing until I first visited Namaste - the food here is excellent, sometimes not quite as spicy as a curry would be back in England, but pretty darn close and better than any other indian restaurant I have tried here in NM. I would recommend you try the lunch buffet so that you can try a number of their dishes and decide which heat level is right for you. My personal favorites are the vindaloo and the green chile chicken. The saag paneer (spinach & cheese) is great and their naans are very light & crunchy. On the full dinner menu (which is also available at lunchtime I understand) they have a navratan korma (vegatables in a creamy curry sauce) which is also very good. The owners are great people and are very friendly indeed. They can cater (as we did for a party of the summer) and the food was very popular - hopefully a few more people have been to the restaurant as a result of trying their curry at our party. read more

One afternoon, I overheard my neighbor order a hat sounded like a heavenly array of Indian/Nepalese delicacies. We passes later that day while walking the dog so I asked where he ordered from. On entering, the smell of the tandoor gave hint to the wonderful tastes we were about to experience. Red and green chutney was brought to the table followed by vegetable samosas with a dusting of tamarind spice over cabbage. My wife ordered the chicken tikka masala and I ordered the lamb curry. Both were served promptly but the server was careful to not to rush our enjoyment of the samosas. The masala was the best I've had in years and the curry, though I initially thought hid in the background came to life with the addition of raita. The naan was the perfect medium for the sauce and additional raita. Though no room was left for dessert the menu promised a perfect end to an enjoyable meal. Namaste means "I bow and respect to the divine spirit within you," used in India and Nepal to greet each other. The spicing is delicate and the sauces are complex -- never over-the-top shouting at you, "I'm Indian, therefore cayenne-hot." The balance is so close to being perfect that you can taste everything -- amazing in this Enchanted Land of Chile. The menu is not so huge as to be overwhelming. But you will surely find your favorites here. Chicken, lamb or goat, seafood, biryanis, vegetables, and much more. Tandoori, korma, vindaloo, tikka masala, and more. The buffet lunch is a fine way to sample many of the dishes on the regular dinner menu. Among my buffet favorites are Saag Paneer (perfect), Chicken Tikka Masala (with dark meat -- my favorite way to prepare this dish), and the Meatballs, which are melt-in-your-mouth tender and as delicious as anything Indian you are likely to encounter in this city. But nothing's perfect -- the Tandoori Chicken was a tad too dry. I think that Namaste is the very best Indian restaurant in New Mexico. I had ordered the Tikka Masala and Baingan Bharta for take out and was really disappointed. The food was all lacking flavor. The Tikka Masala tasted like cream, it was so diluted with milk and butter it had no taste. The eggplant had no seasoning as well. Also the eggplant was not properly cooked so it left a pile of water under my rice. Then naan was thick and chewy and dry.
