Highly recommend the matcha nitro tea and the $40 chef selection with the extra roll. I also shared seaweed salad with my friend. It was enough to hold us up for the night. This place deserves an updated review to 5 stars. They have only gone uphill in the previous year and my last 10 visits have all been five stars! I absolutely love that you can do a "trust me" version of Omakase now or just ask your server to put something together. The imported fish has gotten more upscale, the culinary experience has leveled up, and overall atmosphere is just awesome. I think they got some new plates and drinkware that just adds some more character. Great job management! Anyways, I highly recommend the fresh sushi and sashimi over the rolls and the handrolls. Don't Recommend: Spicy tuna: What you think about spicy tuna is this one. Nothing special but compared to its price, not worth it at all. Hamachi Kosho: The texture was jelly-like and tasted not great. Recommend: Sake New Style. I came here 4 times for this. All hands down (including omakase), this roll is my all time favorite. The sauce, cilantro, wasabi, salmon, and a hint of crispy salmon-skin satisfies everything I wanted. read more

The most expensive dinner we have had, but damn, was it good. We went for Omakase Wednesday where it is prix fixe menu. You can reserve as early as the first of the month, but you do need reservations as it doesn't look like they accept walk-ins. Omasake is $250 per person and can be paired with wine or sake for $150 per person. There were three specialty cocktails and we tried all of them. All were fantastic! My favorite dishes included the Bluefin Tuna, Fatty Tuna, Sea Perch, and Raspberry Sorbet. We got lucky as our sushi chef was talkative and fun. The other chefs were so serious and barely talked. Our drink servers were delightful and knowledgeable. I would come back to try the sushi outside of Omakase Wednesday. We had a taste for sushi so decided to come to Namo because of the uniqueness of their menu and their reviews. We didn't have a reservation but only waited a few min for a table. So no complaints there at all! Their patio was somewhat covered with fans, thankfully the sun was already set behind the other buildings otherwise it would've been scorching. So just a little FYI for those who want to sit outside vs in. The staff was very attentive to filling up our waters and asking if we has any questions. The three-star rating is because of the amount of time we waited for our food and the serving size. We ordered edamame and there were only about 15 edamame pods in the bowl. Which is actually crazy considering I know edamame is so inexpensive. Most sushi places will give a much larger a amount. We ordered three rolls and waited over 45-min for them to come. The staff was very apologetic, but given it was not busy and they had 3+ sushi chefs working...it seemed really odd that it was taking so long. The sushi was very delicious and fresh! No complaints there either. But the wait to get our food was so long we almost contemplated leaving. We would try going back again but would prepare ourselves for a long wait. The first Omakase we tried moving to Dallas. This sits at the most expensive Omakase we have experienced out of all 4. A wonderful experience. Ambiance is wonderful. Seats around 14+ people if I am not mistaken. All around the sushi chefs which are centered in the middle of the room. Every piece is carefully hand crafted by Chef himself. All of it was so delicious. Although I will say we have not been to an Omakase experience where we didn't like the food. If you're looking for a place to feel like a VIP, look no further. This place offers a highly individualized service to make sure you get exactly what you want. We sat at the inside bar where you can watch the masters work, which is a neat experience in its own. We opted for the okaname experience because we wanted to try as many things as possible. The servers are excellent at explaining the menu (I was overwhelmed by the technical vernacular). The okaname option allowed the chefs to curate a menu for us as they saw fit and we were not disappointed. The exquisite bites were served at a steady pace and one was more delicious than the other. The fish was so fresh! It has ruined me for what's available to us, mere mortals, and I will never look at nigiri the same. The bar was quiet enough to enjoy conversation but noisy enough that there was no awkward silence. Will definitely be back to try more menu items and maybe sit on the cozy patio outside. read more

Wow, what an incredible establishment. Sincerely, huge thank you to the owner Brandon, the GM John, and the entire staff for giving us such an incredible experience. I tend to reserve my five stars for locations that truly blow my mind. Namo deserves a sixth star. I'd like to think I've spent enough time in my life trying sushi, sashimi, etc. to know what's good and what's now. Previously, I had Uchi at the top of my list in Dallas... yes, previously. That was until I visited Namo. Each, and every, dish was nothing short of incredible. Truly, each bite left me speechless. The ambiance is great, very friendly staff, and they love the customer feedback. Everything you want in a restaurant. Generally, I'd leave specifics, but everything was so good that I don't want to ruin the experience for you, the reader. Pricing here isn't cheap, but it's competitive and frankly, I suggest you get here before they realize they can charge twice the price and still maintain a customer base like they already do. The uniqueness of this location cannot be stressed enough, from incredibly limited experiences to a genuine journey each time you dine with them, this place does it unlike any other in the DFW region. Came by last week for a birthday dinner with my fiancé and it was a great time! Namo does omakase only at the bar inside the restaurant on Wednesdays, but we're trying to be more careful about eating indoors and still only patronizing places with outdoor patios right now, so we made a reservation and got seated outside right next to one of the heat lamps. It was nice and toasty despite the slight January chill and all staff were masked up. Menus were also contactless -- all you had to do was scan a QR code to access everything that was available sitting outside. Temaki (hand rolls) were also only available at the bar, so we ended up getting a bunch of sashimi, nigiri, and a couple of maki rolls to share. My favorites of the night were the eel nigiri (wonderfully charred), all the salmon, and the new sake roll -- the salmon skin in that last roll lent a great texture to each bite. There was also fresh wasabi in the salmon sashimi, which was a very nice touch. All fish was incredibly fresh! The blue crab roll was just alright, though there was a generous portion of crab, and a good ratio of filling to rice -- it just wasn't really my thing. The cheeseburger nigiri was excellent but the toro did get a bit lost in between the uni and the wagyu -- still worth trying though! We had a great time and I'm looking forward to possibly coming back and trying the full omakase treatment when COVID is less of an issue here! read more

Had a great first experience at this restaurant. The servers were kind and although the restaurant is small, they did their best with social distancing. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the set up, we were pretty close to the sushi chefs and of course we took our masks off to eat. Although the sushi chefs keep their masks on, I felt as though I was putting them in a vulnerable position during this Covid-19 era. My only other complaint aside from being so close to the sushi chef was that the water definitely had that tap water taste to it. It led to us paying $3 for a small glass bottle of Coke which due to the small size, we ended up getting three of. The food was great, you could tell we were being served quality ingredients, unlike many higher end sushi restaurant in Dallas (I'm talking about you, Nobu). I would definitely love to try it again, but would much prefer it as take out next time. read more

Honestly I was expecting a lot better for the price point. We got our orders to go for a little picnic at Klyde Warren. The packaging and everything was great. They included tons of wasabi, ginger and little dipping trays. The presentation was fantastic! (That alone made up the 2 stars of my review). The food on the other hand was... less fantastic. Maybe it was cause we did to go? Not sure but either way, it wasn't worth it. We ordered the Namo Omakase, Nigri set, 16 pcs and sashimi. The cuts of sashimi were so small!! The nigiri in both the nigri set and omakase were decent in size. The quality and taste of the fish compared to how much I paid just wasn't up to par and everything was just okay. If I want high quality that's worth the money, I'd rather go to Uchi. I honestly don't think I'd come back here again though. Overall nice experience, but really just not worth it read more

Reserved the New Years Omakase. The option for indoor was sold out so opted for patio. I've had many omakase dinners in many states and I will say there wasn't a particular dish that stood out. For the price I expected to have some high end dishes but seemed pretty typical off menu nigiri. Service was great but as personnel would be changed we were skipped a few times. Also made an allergy clear but I was being served the dishes that should have gone to the person with the allergy so we continued to swap unfortunately. Ambiance was that of a covered patio tent with heated lamps (nothing grand). Can honestly say I'm glad I saved on not reserving indoor. The best part was definitely the hojicha tea ice cream at the end. Oh I did order a Kyoto whiskey drink (seasonal) that was amazingly prepared. read more

When my friends said they wanted to get sushi in Dallas, I was a bit skeptical of how good it would be. I was definitely wrong. The sushi at Namo is fresh, excellent, and beautifully presented. My friends and I came on a Friday set and we all did the Chef's Nigiri Set. Yum!! Our server did a great job introducing each type of fish, and the nigiri was delicious. Also enjoyed the Bluefin Tuna Roll that came with it, even though it was less special than the nigiri. Wasn't too hungry when I got to Namo so felt like the right amount of food. Great sushi spot. We received a bunch of different items and it was nice to be surprised with different bites and courses throughout. This place is a bit on the pricier side but worth it. Very high quality fish sourced from Japan - but I agree with other reviews that nothing really wowed me and incorporating price, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here unless I was prioritizing vibey/high end restaurant instead of food (kind of like uchi). 1 Star for service and following covid guidelines. 3.5 star for the food. I made a reservation for 2 people online through Resy. After parking and trying to find the restaurant on a busy Saturday evening (after election announced), I arrived within a few minutes of my 15 minute "grace period". When I arrived, they wanted us to sit between two parties. Literally, sitting right next to them (because they were reserving another area for a party of 4 people). Both of the parties next to us were eating and drinking with their masks off, but we were not even distanced properly. I'm assuming they took a walk-in party, because I did get a miss call and voice message from them. I was 1-2 minutes away, and knew I would be there within my grace period with a few minutes extra to spare. When I arrived, the staff was looking for a spot at the bar. I felt awkward and uncomfortable because we were asked to sit between parties I didn't even know especially in the middle of a pandemic. Both of us are in healthcare and one of us had to go back to the hospital later that night to see a patient. I knew it was irresponsible of us to stay there so we ended up leaving and ordering our food to go. In the future, I would sincerely hope that the staff chooses safety of its customers over making money. It's irresponsible and poor service especially when I had a reservation. If the concern was not having a customer during the reservation period, I would have gladly paid upfront to secure my reservation that was following state guidelines. The food was good, but the rice was a little dense. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would go back. I'm extremely disappointed of them not following guidelines especially when covid cases are peaking back up. It's poor decisions like these that are leading to the increasing cases. Second time dining with Michelin Star Chef Murakami! I scored a Monday night reservation after winning an Instagram contest to 2 free sake pairings! SUCH a memorable experience! The vibes were POPPIN! Brandon, Johnny, and the rest of the Namo team makes this experience so worth it! Their pairings were EXCELLENT, to say the least. We asked about it, and Celeste told us that they have a connoisseur that they consulted and worked out each pairing. And we found our new favorite sake: Chiebijin junmai daiginjo! Celeste told us that this sake brewery is owned by a woman - even better!! And now we're out here tryna figure out how we can cop some of these bottles... This time, Chef Murakami was joined by Chef Yoshi, also from Japan! Apparently, they didn't even know each other before this omakase takeover, but Chef Yoshi is on a visa as a visitor and will be working at Namo for a few months - so stop by and give him a shout if you have the chance! Chef Yoshi has the hook-ups when it comes to pickled veggies! He gave us SO many samples! He says his friends make them in Japan! We also met two other patrons, and we kept buying each other rounds of sake. A fun time was had, to say the least! One course that stood out to me was the matsutake mushroom + foie gras handroll! That foie gras literally melted in my mouth, so good! And the mushroom added that whole dimension of flavor, mellowed out by rice in between. And that crisp nori as you take that first bite!!! I would come back just for that. Plenty of uni on the omakase menu, as well! Oh, and they even had a course of A5 wagyu shabu shabu! They gave us some chimichurri sauce and sesame sauce with it, too. We really loved that chimichurri! The dessert course was fun too! They had a sorbet that they topped with some bourbon, and that gourmet piece of Yamazaki chocolate!! I absolutely love this place! Very quaint, intimate, delicious and fresh flavors, and absolutely amazing service you couldn't ask for more! You need to park in the garage area for free, there's two of them and it's right by the restaurant. But if you're lucky enough to get a front parking area, it's a breeze to get in. You'll need to make sure you make a reservation. There is inside seating and outside seating. If you're eating inside or outside I believe it's up to two hours that you can sit there & dine. I've already gone here twice and obviously their specials change. My favorite were the oysters, their Uni, and their scallop. Their salmon was super fresh as well. This is a place where you might not wanna try rolls, but instead you want to diversify your Pallet and try their sashimi and Nigiri. Their service is amazing, the waitresses are very informative. But the chefs really impressed me with how much knowledge they had of everything. Everything came out very fast and very fresh. I recommend the Uni risotto, their Uni, the sushi sake roll is the best. Keep in mind this is a style where you'll need to finish whatever they give you and you'll continue to get whatever else you ordered. And anything you order keep in mind if you order a roll it will come out last. CANT WAIT TO BE BACK ! Don't forget if you're wanting to eat here it will be a pretty penny! 2nd time back and I'm equally impressed! The food was fresh as tasty as usual and David was very attentive and My. My. My. Beyond impressed! Atmosphere: This restaurant is beyond wonderful. The setup is so nice and authentic with the seating as bar only, surrounding where they make the sushi fresh in from of you. The decor is unmatched. Someone put some serious time and effort in this design from the pencil you fill out your order with, to the wall trinkets. Everything is so beautiful and eloquently made, with such artistic detail. I was literally in awe while I ate. Food: The menu is simple and just right. You are able to choose the number of rolls you want or buy individual rolls. I've never been to a sushi restaurant where the rolls are made 1 by 1 and handed to you in that manner. It is such a great concept because each time you reach the next one, it was freshly made seconds before. The seafood is the FRESHEST I've ever tasted. And on top of that, they have a sign on the wall showing where the different seafood is from; some as far as Japan! The rolls were perfect without anyone sauces....I'm still in awe. The prices are very good considering how fresh the seafood is, nice the restaurant is, and how great everything tastes! I also had the Namo Nitro Tea, and pressed green tea that is less bitter. I've tried multiple times to eat here. without success. It's always omakase or a special event even though when I talk to the hostess, she swears they only do omakase one day a week. Which she then seems confused as to which day of the week that is. Frankly, I feel like they decide when you walk up as to whether you are good enough to serve. It doesn't matter how nicely I'm dressed, I'm not their kind of people apparently. Good luck getting in. Bizarre twilight zoned-out LA experience in Dallas (what a surprise). I've tried to eat here with a friend and alone about 5-6 times, and each time I've come to the entrance--pounced on by hostesses who give an ever revolving door of excuses as to why we can't come eat at Namo on that particular evening. None of them make sense and in each instance, the sushi bar and/or outside area is either close to or completely empty. Sometimes it's an omakase only night and yet there is no space--and yet--also no customers. Or it's a holiday and again a special menu...or it's full (but not), etc. Or it's now Wednesday...no Tuesday! No Monday! No Saturday when it's a special menu and well...sorry...but like...no space...like no seats...like zoinks no sushi for you! Of course, you're wondering--why not make reservations? Well, you call them and try. It's the same game on the phone which no one ever actually answers. We even called IN FRONT of them--with the phone ringing and they're holding their own phone and it does not ring through. I asked them to their face, "what is your number" and then called it on my phone, showed them the phone as it was ringing and they were still...clueless? No. Not really. Look, I realized it must be some sort of snob vibe thing happening (like, you're not really what we're looking for in a customer lol) or some other game that I don't play. I mean, it all felt very Beverly Hills to be honest. And then I decided to look up who the owner was, because I thought perhaps he doesn't know what's going on here. Um...yes...Brandon Cohanim...who went to Beverly Hill Highschool--I think he knows. I think that this is HIS brand identity. Okay. Fair enough. Not trying again. For two people, we ordered the Golden Suna drink, miso soup, the nigiri set x2, and the unagi + avocado roll: - We ordered the Golden Suna out of curiosity, but was pleasantly surprised by the perfect balance of Japanese whisky, yuzu, and cardamom - Highly recommend the miso soup - The nigiri was fresh and yummy, but nothing spectacular or mouth-watering It was enough food for my friend and I, especially since we ordered an additional roll. I come here often for takeout. I like coming here because we live closeby and it's usually very quickly prepared. Prices and portions are obviously higher than your usual sushi joints, and the takeout boxes they use are very instagrammable. But when I'm craving sushi, this does the trick. The many times I've been here at this establishment have been amazing. I can't say enough good things about this place. Parking is extremely easy. There are spots available in front of the store or if they're filled, there's an adjacent garage with even more spots (also free). Each sushi chef is skilled in serving sushi and will do everything in their power to tailor the meal to your liking. The waiters/waitresses are constantly tracking your drink level (will immediately refill your water if some damage is done) and ensuring your food is served ASAP. Few tips for people coming here: 1. If it's your first time, get the hand rolls or sashimi to find out what suites your taste. The portion size is not as heavy and large which allows you to eat multiple without feeling full. 2. If you already know what protein you enjoy indulging, I highly recommend the new style rolls or the classic rolls. The chefs preparing these are extremely knowledgeable and will make sure the rolls aren't less than amazing. read more
