This is the best omakase experience to date. Sushi Kozy was quiet as we entered the restaurant to begin our experience. With each course and sake pairing, we indulged in heaven and perfection. We were pleasantly surprised to the accommodations of the staff and the extreme detail of each course, beverage and ambience.

Omakase is very trendy right now but Sushi Kozy has a unique take on it which makes them stand out from the competition. Their approach is kaiseki-inspired which includes different small meals instead of only nigiris. First, parking is very easy. They validate parking at the JW Marriott garage and you have the option to pay for valet parking. The location is also easy to find as it is next to the main road. When we arrived, we waited in their seating area and they offered us a drink menu. Once we were seated, our server welcomed and explained the omakase to us. When each course came, our server, David - who is very wonderful and knowledgeable - explained the dishes and where it came from. He is also very friendly and had a calm demeanor. Each course had beautiful presentation and the flavors complement each other. Overall, I highly recommend Sushi Kozy! They have such a unique take on omakase (in a good way!) and the tasting is worth it.

Fantastic service all around. The atmosphere is a nice, calming Japandi style, and the waiters and waitresses serving us were all so kind and knowledgeable of every dish. It's a fixed omakase menu and from appetizers to the nigiri sets to dessert. All of the plates were innovative, delicious and fresh. I highly recommend visiting if you enjoy omakase, it's well worth the money.

I had such a great experience here! First, the decor/aesthetic was beautiful and thoughtfully designed -- modern, cozy, and clean (even the bathroom was spotless!). We sat at the cocktail bar, and Hunter was an amazing bartender -- super friendly and knowledgeable. The service overall was top notch from start to finish from the chefs to the bartender to the host! The food was absolutely fantastic -- a perfect mix of omakase and small plates from the kitchen. Every single dish was delicious. EVERY ONE. I learned the omakase selections change daily, and some dishes and desserts are seasonal, which makes me even more excited to come back and see what's new next season! I definitely recommend making a reservation at either the sushi bar or the cocktail bar for the best experience. (Also just an FYI The restaurant does do parking validation as well) So in case ya'll are wondering, I'll 100% be returning!

Kozy's nigiri didn't really stand out for me. It's not bad but it didn't have any quality that made it notable to the slew of other omakase that has popped up in the DFW area. What I do remember are the other non-nigiri dishes. For example, the small bite of hotate, tosajure, and caviar all packed on a small cracker like shell. Very tasty! If there was an a la carte option to order the non-nigiri dishes, I would definitely do them. The atmosphere of Kozy is very minimalistic and chique. The service is impeccable.

After following the beginning of their online journey on Instagram late last year, I finally got the chance to dine at Sushi Kozy with my husband and two friends last night - what a decadent mid-week meal it was! We all had an amazing time and the three hour dinner flew by. We arrived a bit late because of traffic and my husband walked in even later after circling for parking, but the host was super gracious and quickly sat us at the sushi bar. Chef Scott took great care of us throughout the night and the rest of the staff were all incredibly attentive without being obtrusive; it's a difficult line to walk sometimes! My husband and I ordered hot tea and our friends got a bottle of the Copenhagen Sparkling Tea (which was actually amazing - I'd never had sparkling tea before and will be looking out for it in the future) for the table. Once our full party was complete, our main server went through the day's menu options. After some decision making, my husband and I added on the off menu item of the evening (a Hokkaido hairy crab dish) and decided to do one each of the land and sea tastings. The full menu is in my photos so I won't cover every single one, but some of my favorites of the night were, in order of presentation, the hotate pineapple tart (the tart shell made entirely of pineapple was amazing), the tako kushi (perfect char paired with perfect pickling technique), the madai otsukuri (so light and herbal and texturally interesting), one of the most buttery pieces of akami I've ever had!!, the uni & anago nigiri, the halibut (wonderfully flaky, paired so well with the curry), the temaki (very impressed by how crisp the nori shell stayed, and how the truffle didn't overwhelm), the green tea sorbet (such a great light finish), and the mochi donut (loved the savory flavor from the foie gras filling). Even the dishes I didn't like quite as much were all thoughtfully put together. Sushi rice was delicious in both flavor and texture and Chef Scott did a wonderful job putting each piece together, perfect fish & rice & wasabi ratio. At no point in the flow of the evening did I feel like I was getting too much of one particular flavor or too much or little richness; the entire dinner was incredibly well-balanced and we were all comfortably full by the end of the night. Also appreciated the two gifts from the kitchen/chef we got - the strawberry shot was a delightful palate cleanser after the land/sea tastings and the additional piece of sea perch nigiri was lovely. I think my only tiny quibbles were that at some moments of the evening, things did start to feel a little dragged out; this was most apparent after the last nigiri course and before the land/sea tastings. I did appreciate the breath before the next beat of the meal but 20 minutes still feels a little long. And then the other thing is more of a personal preference and something that can be played with in the future as the menu evolves -- I think I might have enjoyed a little more interspersing of the nigiri with the non-nigiri throughout the evening, just for more contrast. I understand why the current flow is set up the way that it is, but breaking up the nigiri with smaller kitchen dishes in between might make the menu feel a bit more dynamic? Otherwise, though, we had a very enjoyable meal at Sushi Kozy and I would recommend it to anyone looking to experience a fancy night out! The interior was super nice and we loved sitting at the sushi bar and getting to see a bunch of the dishes get constructed. Parking is validated and our server kindly informed us how to get out if our ticket was too scratched, which ended up being helpful since the reader couldn't take it. Menus change every quarter or so, so there's always something new to experience!

Big D is stepping up its omakase game! Chef Paul Ko's ambitious new venture has absolutely raised the standards for that genre in Texas! The decor, the quality of each course and the thoughtfulness that went into the menu, along with chef Jon's hospitable and knowledgeable guidance made Sushi Koze an inexorable gem!

What a wonderful experience! Delicious bites, service perfectly spaced to allow time between courses but not too much, very knowledgeable server who guided us through food and wine/ sake. The additional nigiri were not necessary but much enjoyed as there were unusual ones. As our party was larger, we sat in the private room which gave us some music but mostly enough quiet to be able to have great conversations. To be repeated.

I went to Japan recently. I want to start there because the Japan trip is directly relevant to this…read morereview in a way that will become clear shortly and also in a way that is deeply embarrassing and I have made peace with both of those things simultaneously. Japan was extraordinary. The food was extraordinary. The trains were extraordinary. The trains specifically deserve their own paragraph because I have never in my life encountered a public transportation system that operates with the precision and quiet dignity of the Japanese rail network. Trains that arrive at the exact second they are supposed to arrive. Trains that leave at the exact second they are supposed to leave. A whole society of people moving through stations the size of small cities with calm purpose and zero visible distress, consulting their phones, reading books, buying things from vending machines that should not logically exist inside a train station but do because Japan has decided that convenience is a human right and I agree completely. I tell you all of this to explain what happened at the train station when we tried to find pizza. Now I know what you are thinking. You went to Japan and you tried to find pizza. And yes. Yes we did. We had been eating spectacular Japanese food for several days running, food that made us question every culinary decision we had made in our entire lives up to that point, and then something happened in the group dynamic that can only be explained as a collective temporary insanity and somebody said what about pizza and instead of saying no we are in Japan and there is yakitori available within forty feet of us at all times, everybody said yeah okay pizza sounds good actually. The station we were in had approximately forty seven exits. I counted. Not all of them. I counted forty seven before I gave up counting and simply accepted that exits were infinite and directional signage was a suggestion. We had been told the pizza place was near exit B14. There was no exit B14. There was a B4 and a B41 and something that might have been B14 but was labeled in a way that required a level of kanji literacy I had not developed in the forty eight hours since landing. We walked for twenty two minutes. We passed the same Family Mart three times which I know because the same employee was stocking the same shelf each time and by the third pass he looked at us with an expression of gentle recognition and what I can only describe as compassionate pity. We never found the pizza place. We found a ramen shop instead and ate the best bowl of ramen of our collective lives and agreed to never speak of the pizza incident again except that I am speaking of it right now because it is directly relevant to the fact that when I came back to Dallas and needed Japanese food that did not require navigating a forty seven exit train station, I went to Tei Tei Robata Bar on Henderson Avenue and everything was immediately right with the world. Tei Tei has been on Henderson Avenue since the late nineties. Founder Teiichi Sakurai, who is also the man behind Tei An which if you have not been to Tei An please go immediately after reading this review and before doing anything else in your life, has been a James Beard semifinalist six times which is the kind of number that should be printed somewhere more prominently than it currently is, like on a highway billboard or possibly the side of a building. You walk in through a Japanese garden to get to the entrance. A Japanese garden. In Dallas. On Henderson Avenue. Between a taco place and a bar with a patio. I walked through it after the forty seven exit train station and my blood pressure dropped twelve points immediately and I have no medical evidence for this but I am confident it is true. Robata is the traditional Northern Japanese grill style. Wood charcoal. Low heat. Slow intention. Things arrive on skewers that have been coaxed rather than forced into deliciousness. The miso sea bass is the kind of dish that people describe by going quiet for a moment first. The cornflake shrimp is a thing that should not work as a concept and works completely as a reality. The daily special comes out in three parts, raw, robata, and more, and each part is a small argument for why you should be paying better attention to what you eat every day of your life. The sashimi sits in a case on ice near the kitchen and you can watch the chefs working with a calm precision that is genuinely meditative to observe, like a train system that runs on the exact second it is supposed to run, quiet and intentional and doing exactly what it is supposed to do without any drama about it. I sat at the sushi bar and ate things I will not fully describe because some experiences should be discovered and not spoiled. I thought about the ramen we found instead of the pizza we were looking for and decided that getting lost is sometimes the whole point.

The inside is tiny and there isn't even a proper "waiting" area. I've also tried coming here before, and there was also a long wait. I'm glad I decided to stick it out this time. We ordered the Wagyu sushi, Yakitori, Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, and the Tomato Ramen. The Wagyu sushi is torched right in front of you! The Wagyu was incredibly tender and the sauce was delicious. My only *nitpicky* critique is the rice was ever so slightly too moist, but that didn't stop me from inhaling the sushi. Next, the Yakitori was phenomenal. I've never had such tender chicken in my life. There was a nice layer of delicious sauce coating the skewer. Again, just a really nitpicky feedback I have was that I wish the Yakitori had the tiniest bit more char to it, but nevertheless was an incredible bite, and I'd 100% order again in a heartbeat. Onto the ramen - easily hands down one of the best ramen I've had in DFW. The broth is flavorful, and I love the noodles. I'm not sure if they're handmade from scratch, but they had the perfect thickness and chewiness. I also loved generous the portion of cha shu slices. Most other places only give you 1-2 thin slices, but that was not the case here. The pork was tender. The ajitama was solid too, although I prefer more of a soft-boiled egg. While the meat portion is more generous here, the tonkotsu didn't come with many vegetables. A lot of other ramen places I've been to will have corn, fried garlic, etc as default, but those are all additional cost add-ons here. The ramen was delicious without them though but just something to note. We also got the tomato ramen as it's the chef recommendation. The dish is very creative and the execution was great. Personally, I still prefer traditional ramens but it was certainly a nice culinary creation to try. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. Just be aware there may be a wait, and because they're so busy, you do have to proactively flag down staff. However, the staff are still really nice despite all the tasks they're juggling at once.

When I brought the issue to their attention a second time, the response was the same; they wiped it down, but the dripping continued throughout the remainder of the meal. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected a more proactive solution and better attention to guest comfort. Additionally, our group ordered the Demon Slayer 300 mL sake, priced at $55. After pouring the sake, our server, Adonis, took the bottle away with him, even though we understood that the bottle was intended to remain at the table for our party. This added to the confusion and frustration surrounding the overall experience. As a first-time guest, I was looking forward to an enjoyable dining experience, but the lack of attention to these issues left me disappointed.
