Nana Dee's Diner is everything you expect a diner to be. You walk in and everything is chrome and all the photos are famous actors and actresses. We were greeted immediately and sat right away. The menu includes everything you could want for breakfast and it's only made harder by the fact that you can smell everyone else's breakfast. Half our table order chicken fried steak and it was perfect. The other half got eggs Benedict and egg scramble which were equally as good. Not a bit of food was left on any of our plates. I ordered the French dip sandwich. It was open faced , not cut in half for easier dipping, piled with a wad of bloody undercooked roast beef with zero flavor and the au jus was flavorless and disgusting. The fries were pretty good. I was willing to let the bad food go and not say anything until I realized my server added a buck to her tip without authorization. I have disputed the charge and got my buck back through bank, but I wouldn't ever go back. read more

Really liked the crunch on the chicken. The meat was juicy and cooked just right. Some parts could use more flavor, but overall it was tasty. The fries were a good side. The price was fair for what you get. Would come back for sure. read more

We come to Mesa once a month to visit my parents and take them out for a meal of their choice. They hadn't eaten here for a while so we decided to check it out . Besides who doesn't love a 50's diner . It was what I expected when we walked in, cute & clean inside. We were greeted by a nice young man who sat us right away as the place was pretty empty. When the waitress came over she seemed impatient because we didn't know what we wanted yet, (menu is huge) she slapped down the drink card, took that order while we decided on food. I ordered the Arizona Burger it was good, I wanted onion rings in place of fries and the waitress barked that there is an up charge (I already figured that), my husband order the Southwest burger, the green chile was tasteless, my mom ordered the tuna melt, she liked it a lot and my 80 yr old dad got the French dip, the waitress forgot the au jus and when we asked for it she brought back about an 1/8 of a cup, we asked for more as that wasn't even enough to dip a quarter of a sandwich in she got even more irritated. Every time she came back to our table, she seemed more and more irritated, even when my dad asked her for a to go box and cup for his drink. The experience there would've been OK had it not been for the waitress our ticket said the waitress was Robbieeee. Having worked in the food industry as a waitress when I was younger I understand that it can get pretty stressful, but the restaurant was empty and we weren't demanding customers. First of all, it really feels like an old-school diner. The food matches it perfectly from the pancakes to the chicken fried steak. Everything was great loaded nachos are awesome and even the pot roast was great. The shakes were perfect and they had the metal container of course which always makes it taste better for some reason. read more

We've been customers of Nana Dee's Diner for years and it's been mostly good. However, last weekend my husband and I had dinner there. He ordered a Rueben and I ordered the regular club sandwich. My husband's Rueben was minuscule. Hardly any meat for a sandwich that costs over $15. His fries were cool. My club sandwich was made as the deluxe club, with ham. I ordered the regular club because I don't like ham. I asked them to remake it. Yup....came back with them just taking the ham off. I could still taste the ham, which is a turnoff for me. The waitress was very uninterested in the service. We had to wait over 15 minutes for the check. She was too busy with fiddling around doing who knows what. Anyway, it was a Saturday night and I'm guessing their minds were not on the customers. read more

We recently moved to the area and needed to find a new favorite breakfast spot. The search is over. Came in for brunch on Friday and it was everything we expected and more. The interior is very retro, and so much fun. We were seated right under a picture of Elvis, my husband's favorite musician! He ordered a dish that included biscuits and gravy, I chose the traditional eggs benedict. (That is always the first dish I try at a new spot.) I was so pleasantly surprised when I got my food, the eggs were cooked PERFECTLY for my taste. I don't like runny eggs, most places cook them runny. These were just at the spot in between hard boiled and not quite. Every bite was absolutely delicious, and my breakfast absolutely hit the spot! My husband enjoyed his breakfast as well, we were both totally full until well after our normal dinner time, that speaks volumes! Our server Robbie was very attentive and kept his coffee cup filled, which is so nice. Many servers get busy and forget to check back in. We are really looking forward to coming back. Place is like a 50's Diner very clean and large variety of good homemade American favorites. Breakfast being served all hours. Had the Denver omelette, country fried potatoes and biscuit. Chicken fried steak is usually my first test for a diner and Nana Dee's served up an appreciable chicken fried steak. The over-easy eggs were spot on, hashbrowns delivered tender shredded potatoes under a nicely-done skin and 2 pieces of dry, whole wheat toast were appreciated by someone who has unfortunately become accustomed to 1 piece of toast. My coffee cup was kept full by a very professional and attentive waiter who faithfully accommodated small changes to our orders. Yes, Nana Dee's Diner is now on my list of go-to local eateries and I recommend those reading this review give Nana Dee's a go. read more

Went for first time other day. Got the " senior breakfast " for $14.00 Asked for eggs soft scrambled but they came out less than cooked and runny. They also had a lot of oil/grease on them. The hash browns were almost burnt and super greasy , the biscuit was gummy and undercooked. The sausage patties were also covered in grease. I took a few bites and when the waitress asked if I wanted a box, I said no thanks. This is truly a " greasy spoon" spot and not for me. read more

Fluffy, delicious eggs. Comfy seats. Smiley employees. Overall pretty good experience. However, the French toast and bacon tasted like standard breakfast diner fare; nothing special. The French toast batter was bland, enveloping standard slices of white sandwich bread, and the bacon was a bit chewy, with an unpleasant smell and flavor; perhaps cooked too close to something pungent (raw beef?) on the grill. I still ate it. When I saw the Nifty Fifty fries in the appetizer section of the menu, I suggested to my hubby that the dish sounded like Poutine, and maybe he should order that for breakfast with a few eggs on top. THAT was delicious. His bacon pieces even tasted like different bacon than the slices I received. My raw beef theory appears to hold up. Service was quick and friendly. Bathrooms were clean. I'd go back to try other items, but unless I'm drunk and craving poutine, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to dine there. read more
