The meatloaf meal is my favorite dinner item and the biscuits and gravy meal is by far the best and a great deal! As far as burgers go... The Texas Burger with onion rings and bbq sauce is the way to go! Bottom line is, if you you're looking for good diner food and great service, this is the place! I think the food is good. They have great shakes the second time I was there. I went to the bathroom and saw some big sewer cockroaches a couple that somebody stepped on one running around now. If they're in the bathroom, those things are probably in the kitchen running around, I won't be going back there. It's disgusting. read more

This homey diner at Superstition Springs Mall is not just a traditional diner in its looks but serves up really good traditional diner breakfast and lunch fare like very few in the Valley do. My expectation being from the East is a Diner should be open 24 hours - that's an almost unheard option here in the Valley. And, few Diners here are real Diners, so in the context of 24-Hour Eateries being only 4, yes only 4 in the Valley, what we primarily have are Breakfast Joints, Breakfast and Brunch Cafes and/or Breakfast and Lunch Eateries - and the 24 ops are relegated to National establishments. Nana Dee's is one of the former, and it is very, very good - I forgive their non 24/7 status! Following a tradition of Chrome flash, neon lights, hard floors and vinyl lined booths, it's pretty retroish and fun. Our last visit I enjoyed a tasty and well prepared good old-fashioned Liver and Onions with sides of mash potatoes and some mixed vegies. My wife had a delectable Tuna Melt. As simple as those meals are, you'd be hard pressed to find really, really good ones in the Valley. We wrapped up our meals with a terrific Strawberry Shake, with real Strawberry chunks in them. The atmosphere you would expect, a trip back in time to the Rockin 50's. Stopped into Nana Dee's for the first time and had breakfast. I tried the corned beef omelet and must say it exceeded expectations. The staff and service was friendly, attentive, and really quite quick. I am going to have to agree with a previous review regarding the ranch dressing. I tried this place out with the intention of having a chef salad and a side order of fries with ranch dressing and was really disappointed. I would expect a diner of this caliber to have home made, buttermilk ranch dressing but it is just bottled hidden valley ranch. I really did want to give a higher rating as the service was really great and the staff was friendly! Please listen to your reviews and bring back the home made ranch dressing! read more

It's a stereotypical 50s diner with diner food. While we were there on a Sunday afternoon it was crazy busy. We sat at the counter and the waitress was prompt. The food took a bit, but it was alright. I had a hot dog and hubby had a burger. The fries were meh. read more

Went there Sunday AM and almost kept driving by when we saw the lines outside but we walked in and immediately saw lots of empty seats at the counter so sat down right away. I had the Mexican Breakfast Burrito and Dave had the Green Chile Omelette. Both were delicious, but next time I'm going for the green chili! Salsa is homemade with just the right amount of kick. Arrived at lunch time, and ordered the breakfast chicken fried steak and eggs. Pleasant waitress brought coffee, and kept it full. Nice platter of food! Tender perfectly fried meat, covered in tasty sausage gravy. Large portion of hash browns. Eggs over easy, and they got it right. Rye toast to jack up my breakfast carbs. Sometimes it nice to have eggs for diner, or a monte cristo sandwich for breakfast. Warmly greeted when we entered and expertly served by Julieee. The food was good, however i can tell the server wanted me out of her booth as fast as possible. I'm half way through my meal and she brings me my check and tells me to pay at the front. And i start eating slowly, and when i was finally finished eating, then she asked me if i wanted anything else. Waitress was an older woman her names started with a V. (Totally awesome with extra tin served with it). My son had the kids butterfinger shake and loved it. My daughter had chicken fingers. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Classic old school diner. The food and service was perfect. I had the eggs Benedict and a side of bacon which you can get regular or crispy. Going back to try a shake or malt before heading back to winter weather. Even the other customers there were super friendly. Was in the area wanted American food and this place popped up and I thought my Mom would like it and she did. When we walked in the waitress asked "if we've been there before" I said "no" and she asked "how did we here about us" I said "Yelp". She said "where?" I said "Yelp" She said "who?" The tiny Jukeboxes in the tables do not work booo.. I saw a big Jukebox but didn't check if it worked. They could use some music since it was so quiet and it's a 50's Diner. The waitress must love her job since she drives all the way from Scottsdale. I ordered a Root Beer Float and to my surprise she brought out extra Root Beer. Yea. The little things. They have a pretty red ceiling with black fans (my Favorite colors) and they actually were on. The Burgers and Sandwiches do not come with Mayo so make sure you ask for some. I ordered The BLT it was huge. The Tomatoes where not ripe so I took them out. The Coleslaw YUM! Not dry at all. Moms Burger look so good, she was happy. Good size. Fries are ok. Went here a few weeks back with my son and have been meaning to write this review.. The food was pretty good, standard diner food and serving size was good. We sat at the counter and the service was sufficient, not stellar but no complaints. We used to come here when it was 5&Diner and it looks pretty much unchanged, except most of the stuff no longer works or is physically broken. I know it's a small thing but it was tacky to me that the jukebox was broken and looked like it had been that way for some time. I also realize that these things are expensive and no longer being a corporate chain it may be harder to stay on top of these things. This place also appears to be family run and owned now, so mad respect there. +1 star for being a small business. I would go back here, just realize it isn't quite as "polished" as it was when it was 5&Diner. Honestly, I hope they read this and make adjustments. This is the kind of place that is hard to find nowadays and I really enjoy it, but the exterior alone can't keep you coming back. If they just kept it to the level that 5&Diner maintained it would be a winner. Cheers! read more

If you're looking for a throwback to the 50's, this is it! Fun and welcoming atmosphere and the service was great, attentive without being overbearing. Menu is large and has something for everyone. Prices are great and the food is good. The buttermilk biscuit they serve with the dinners seemed like they were old, not fresh, but the other food we ordered was good. Excellent, real mashed potatoes! Shakes and malts are a must! I wish the mini jukeboxes on the tables actually worked, that would have been super fun!
