Hardly anyone in here for Monday lunch. Reasonable service, but no one was here. Great salsa, thick chips. The main courses were very disappointing we had lunch specials. I had tacos Nana special tacos with burnt taco shells. They really didn't have any flavor to them. I actually added salsa to help them out. My wife's food was also disappointing, she had flautas lunch special and they barely had any shredded beef in them. My son had a taco meal and really didn't seem to care for it much. All the plates refried beans seemed they just came out of the microwave with the little bubbles that form on the edges. It was like we were eating old leftovers that wasn't very good. Horrible service!!!! We were seated and provided our menus. We sat and sat and sat!!! 30 minutes went by with one person even looking at us. I tried to get someone's attention and they looked at me and said we'll be right with you and walked away. They continued to serve others that came well after we did. Finally we got up and left. I would really like this place to be good, because it is close to where i live. But this is strike two. Got a deluxe breakfast burrito, that comes with re-fried beans but for $10? I've had better from Taco Bell, at a fraction of the cost. Long wait to get food and not that busy. Been to this family-run restaurant twice. The Stafford friendly and is happy to make recommendations. Based on that I ordered Pollo Mole. Omgosh is it delicious!! And the homemade tres leches cake is worth the calorie splurge! Will be back. read more

I ate there once. I had a ground beef burrito that came with rice and beans, my son (6yr) had ground beef tacos which also had rice and beans. Nothing was delicious, from the salsa to the beans everything was so salty, the drinks were odd tasting and the rice was not cooked all the way. I been to Nana's a few times. The food is good, but things are different from when they first opened-quality of ingredients maybe or a new cook? The last few visits the food didn't appear to be the quality Nana herself expects. How do I know? Because I've eaten in her kitchen at home. I thought it was maybe an off day and went back and had the same experience with the same dish. The services was excellent, as always, but the food was not worth the fourth star. I plan to go back again and try a new dish and the same one ( a girl's got to eat) and see if anything has changed. The desserts however are delicious my favorite is the tres leches cake. If you enjoy poor service, over priced & disapointing mexican food this is the place to go. I've never had flat enchiladas with the corn tortilla so thick & chewey. I guess it was to make up for the lack of chicken that was supposed to accompany it. Plenty of rice & beans! Nana definately needs to keep this recipe a secret. Watch out for the owner who took away the lunch menu and referred to it as the children's menu. It was about 12:30 and lunch is until 2:00. He obviously didn't want to sell lunches for $6.50 when he could pretend the lunch menu didn't exist and sell entrees at twice the cost. Fortunately my parents had been there many times and ordered off the lunch menu in the past,plus it was is my mom's hand when he took it sober all had seen it. Weird that only her menu contained a lunch menu and he took it away. I won't be back when in that area. The enchiladas I had were good and had a sweet sauce, almost like a mole, but owner said it wasn't. I've been coming to Nana's kitchen for a few years now but am not a frequent visitor because prices are kind of high (about $40 for 2 combos w/ fountain drinks and an appetizer), but the portion sizes are huge and you'll probably have left overs. It feels like home in here in many ways and is a very cozy little place. They have great customer service here and you never have to ask for anything because they're always asking you before you have to say anything. Tip for first timers, when you come in, seat yourself and they will come bring your menu over to you shortly. Sometimes it takes them a while to get to you if they're extra busy but they never forget about you. The food is very good, which is why I always come back here. If you like chicken, they have the best chicken items. Their chile rellenos are so good too and the best appetizer is the cheese crisp! If you're in the area I recommend checking it out because you'll leave full and happy. read more

I still love this place. Ever since my first visit, I have never been disappointed. I come here quite frequently for breakfast/brunch to have the Omelette a la Mexicana or Huevos a la Mexicana, both of which come with potatoes, beans and tortillas. The price point here is perfect and I always leave full or with leftovers for lunch. Tried this place a year ago and was not impressed. Decided to give this place one more go and I was extremely disappointed. Chicken chimi enchilada style was horrible! I was actually given a soggy, oily, burrito smothered in an enchilada sauce that tasted as if sitting in plastic container for days! I paid $13.67 for this plate of disappointment! To top it off... Nana's is a great place to have excellent enchiladas banderas and margaritas. We enjoyed a cheese crisp with chilies, my hubby had the carne asada burro, and I had the regular cheese enchiladas. The food is always very good. The enchiladas banderas have red,green, and white sauce and are unique and very good. This place was great! It's a mom and pop shop, so you are definitely supporting a family business that is run with love. We killed four or five margaritas. They were incredibly accommodating to my dietary restrictions (vegetarian). My husband ordered the molé, which he said was phenomenal (I tried the sauce and agreed). Service was great. First, let me begin by saying that the family who owns this restaurant is very kind. We have eaten at this restaurant many times, and the food is quite good....probably better than 3 stars. HOWEVER....the prices are just not worth the quality of food and atmosphere. We are a family of 4. Whenever we eat dinner at My Nana's we always order 3 adult entrees and a kids' meal. Maybe 2 alcoholic drinks, such as a beer and 2 sodas. Without fail we pay over $60 after tip. That is just too pricey. I have eaten breakfast there several times, and the last time it cost me $14 for the eggs dish and an iced tea. $3 of that was the tip, though. So, you won't be disappointed with the food or the service, but if you are looking to spend less money, you may consider going somewhere else. read more

Our last night in Tucson we had to try my mom's favorite Mexican place; she assured me it would be the best carne asada I'd ever had and she was not far off. #1 will always be my neighbor's version from many years ago, no restaurant could ever top it, but this was a close second! They are definitely not skimpy with portions and I had plenty to take home for leftovers. The best part of the evening, though, was definitely the most indulgent - sangria margaritas and dulce de leche cake, home-made by Nana herself and beyond delicious. The $7 price point for the slice of cake might throw you off at first, but remember the $5 milkshake in Pulp Fiction? Yep, like that...it absolutely blew me away. Totally worth it! read more

We did have people come in a different times so one late comer wasn't offered drinks and we had to ask for his breakfast because everyone else was served and they acted like we were done. On a SATURDAY night I went in to eat here. I already looked online to check their hours before going there. When I arrived the door confirmed they close at 9pm on Saturday. I walked in at 7:30 & they told me sorry were closed! I said but I checked & it says not until 9pm. There are lots of people sitting inside eating too by the way. Absolutely wonderful food and service! We have been looking for a restaurant that has all of our favorites and are more than enjoyable on the pallet.
