After a torturous afternoon where my wheat-eating coworkers were treated to a free pizza lunch, I decided to brave the rain and go on an adventure to Everett to try this allegedly great gluten free pizza. A friend and I were looking for a place to dine a few weeks ago and ended up trying this place specifically because they serve gluten-free, and we were feeling adventurous to leave the city and head to Everett. First off, I have to mention that this is by far the cleanest pizza place I've seen. They're serious about not mixing wheat flour in with everything, you can tell immediately. We were tickled that they not only serve gluten-free pizza, wings, and other menu items...but even accommodate with gluten-free beer. When my friend wanted lactose-free, gluten-free pizza: the girl working the register understood and accommodated: "a lot of people do that, it's very common". We were the only two people in the dining room, but I wouldn't expect a 'rush' of popularity, just given the restaurant's location. The world of G-F Pizza options are few and far between. Even then, GF Pizza is usually marginal at best? Not at Nana's!! Their GF Pizza was amazing. Great selection of GF wine and beer as well. The food if fine for a pizza joint. I heard so many great things about it so had to check it out, it failed to impress me the way it had impressed so many though. I've had calzones that I heard were the best around and if that's the best calzone you've had you need to do some more sbopping. I had a Meatball sub, The sauce is fine, the meatballs I want impressed with. I've had the pizza, the specialty pizzas are very good and the Sicilian pizza is very good. I will definitely be going back because its okay food, okay prices but mostly because its close to my house. Great pizza. Probably the best in Everett. Italian subs are perfect and their plain chicken wings are also really good. Also legit garlic bread. Their chicken cutlet subs are unfortunately just bland chicken fingers stuffed in a sub roll and they don't have steak and cheese subs. Their buffalo wings are a 'dry' version (no actual sauce on them, just buffalo flavoring) which was pretty 'meh'. Their calzones are hit and miss. The buffalo chicken calzone was a big miss; packed with some white fluid (blue cheese maybe?) but their chicken and broccoli calzone was a big hit (though, one time I asked for garlic in it and they just laid a *ton* of raw, minced garlic all over the inside of it, oops). Usually a fast delivery and consistently great pizza. I want to give it 4 stars because the pizza and Italian subs are really good, especially for the area. And when it comes to Greater Boston pizza shops, Italian subs and pizza are the 2 mainstays and should be top notch which Nana's is. But if you stand back and look at the whole package, it's generously a 3 star experience. Really need to get steak & cheese subs on the menu too! read more

Hit or miss for sure! Have been ordering from Nana's religiously for 3+ years (weekly). Now it seems to have changed big time. Have had to call and complain several times recently. Had a pizza delivered that had obviously been dropped on the floor and they still delivered it!! Had wrong orders and forgotten items several times. Also sometimes the pizza is undercooked or soggy. If you complain they will send a new pizza out fairly quickly and/or sometimes credit you for next time, but they sure don't sound happy about it. Wish the old Nana's would come back ASAP! read more

Nana's used to be very good and very reliable; the last several months, the pizza has been inconsistent, the toppings cut sloppily (thick, and therefore undercooked), and the crust cooked half-burnt, half raw. Getting the girl on the other end of the phone to pay attention to your order is painful; asking if they have a "house special" because you don't have a menu in front of you is like speaking a foreign language-- they have a menu taped to the wall near the register & phone that she can't be bothered to look at it and tell you what it's called until you ask her three more times. Twice, the pizza's been made wrong when we came in for pickup and whoever's been working the register wanted to be paid first, anyway-- and many delivery folks were coming back in with wrong items for remakes, so it wasn't just us. We won't be coming back any more, and will be going somewhere else instead. read more

Ive basically grown up eating Nana's. From eating there, at our home, or at the fields when I played sports growing up. Nana's is by far best Pizza in Everett. The crust is always cooked great. I am actually sorta shocked at some of these reviews. I cant say I have ever had a bad experience at Nana's or from them. Ill be honest, I grew up in Everett my whole life and I never (or at least cant remember) ate anything else from there but their pizza haha but its great. No complaints. I have been to Nana's numerous times and tried multiple things on the menu. Overall, the food is a 6/10. It is a bit above average. It is nice the acommodate for gluten-free diets. The Gluten free pizza is pretty average for the category but it is still nice its available. The other salads and appetizers are what you expect from a pizza place. Excellent pizza, especially for the price. I can only comment on the pizza, and with the Monday B1G1 deal, you really can't go wrong. It's not as quite as thin as true NY style pizza, but pretty close. Plenty of cheese and toppings. Bonus--they were friendly at the service counter, which goes a long way with us and our decision to frequent a place. We order from here most of the time when we want pizza, despite their high prices. We've lived in this area a year now, and have tried Pizza Joes too but their sauce makes me sick. This is the best place in Everett for pizza. However, they don't ever cook the pizza long enough & they put on way too much cheese. Therefore, when you try to take a slice out of the box, all of the cheese comes off and the pizza gets all floppy & mangled. It's been an hour over the estimated delivery time, the driver has called me complaining about his workers giving him the wrong address and 'wasting his gas'. Last we spoke, he said he'd be there in 10 minutes, that was 30 minutes ago. I have ordered pizza only from Nana's since I discovered it in the early 1990's, approximately when they opened. Service is wonderful and my favorite Zsa Zsa pizza is what I almost always order. Was my favorite place to order pizza from! Until one day.... I had called to place and order for delivery and everything seemed to be okay. When we received the order we realized it was not what we had ordered. Okay.. no big deal we called back expecting a smooth swap. But the lady we spoke to was extremely rude once we told her our order was not what we received. We just moved here from Indiana about 4 months ago. We eat a lot of pizza. We used to own a pizza place in a small town back home that still thrives under new ownership. Needless to say we are all about our pizza! So we have been trying places all over Medford. I haven't reviewed those places because I didn't feel they were bad and not yet good enough.
