Amazing service outstanding food a must try in you are from the area or just passing through

We love Nancy's. She makes meals fun and always a great place to meet friends. Service is amazing and friendly.

Driving from Reno to the Sac area this past Sunday and the four of us were looking for breakfast as we crested in Auburn. We Yelped and discovered Nancy's Cafe located right off the freeway at Elm. Easy on/off access to the freeway helped us choose this little nugget over others listed. So glad we did! Walking in, there were staff members tending to tables and refilling condiment bottles, and taking orders. We stood for a second before we were warmly invited to sit at any open table or booth. We love having the choice of where to sit! Sometimes we're unfortunately seated next to the front door, which can be both drafty and distracting. Once seated, we were promptly waited on for our drink order and menus were distributed. I couldn't help but notice the table in the back of restaurant filled with dozens of different bottles of hot sauces! This place was awesome! Not only do they make homemade jams and jellies, but they also make in-house hot sauce! The presentation, flavor, and service was so good! I had the veggie scramble with house potatoes. The homemade blackberry jelly was the bomdiggity. It was also a lot of fun sampling the many hot sauces. Oh, and who's Nancy? She was the gleeful lass running around who invited us to sit anywhere we liked. We'd like to eat here for breakfast every day! read more

I find it kind of ironic that their logo is a cartoonish skull with crossbones made out of breakfast foods. While it's quite a cute logo, one might think the restaurant is run by some meanies, which is the complete opposite. Nancy is an absolute joy, who makes you feel like she's welcoming you into her home. And the days she's not present...her staff makes you feel the same exact way. It must be easy for them to work there because they have to deal with happy customers all day long. There is a bit of magic in their food with creative touches that make all the difference. I love the homey feeling of the staff and the regulars interacting :-) The food is awesome all around, but the Monte Cristo sandwich I had was simply ON POINT. It was the 2nd best I have had had, and the best in 15 years for sure. Get your bacon bendy and add a side of waffles for the table to share. I can't love Nancy's enough :-) read more

What a hidden gem! We stopped for lunch on our way to Tahoe. There were 7 of us. I couldn't see a table for a large party, but Nancy put two tables together to accommodate us. The menu had so many good things to order! I opted for the hummus wrap with falafel and a side salad. The salad came out first and it was perfect. The salad was crisp and cold and came with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onions. The wrap was huge with freshly made falafel. I could only eat half of it. It came with a huge dill pickle spear which my daughter eyed jealously! My daughter and husband each had the chicken bacon and Brie sandwich with French fries. My daughter and son-in-law had the breakfast tacos with hash browns. My son had a ham & cheese omelette and said it was the best omelette he's ever had! My other son had the breakfast burger with a fried egg and the country fried bacon. Everyone cleaned their plates! We sure enjoyed our stop in Auburn and will stop on our way home if time permits. New find in auburn. Had the corn beef hashed but not so impressed but pancake on the side was delish. The deep fried bacon is a must try although super unhealthy but it tasted good. I do recommend this place read more

Stopped in to try this place after a hike & saw all the wonderful reviews so we gave it a try. Good thing we did. It's a Great place! I had the Veggie Revenge burger with a side salad. It was so good & everything was so fresh. Loved the bun & everything in it. It was perfect! Staff is super friendly and service was awesome. Our waiter refilled our water & coffee a couple times. I think this is definitely a local favorite spot because while we were dining here, the staff seemed to know many of the folks dining there. This place is near my work. I go to here when I have one hour lunch and I went here for breakfast and they offer a vegan patty which I enjoyed with the eggs Benedict. The food is very flavorful. The service is good. The ambience is good. I like that it's a local café and everyone knows everyone I will be back. read more

Nancy's is me and my partner's favorite restaurant ever!! Everyone is so incredibly nice and funny, they are very dog friendly if you sit outside on the patio which is a must for us with our pupper. The cranberry orange cakes are to...die...for and I say that as someone who does not like fruit in sweet things. They are so vegetarian and vegan friendly that I have so many options to choose from!! And yes, maybe sometimes you won't order as fast as you want or pay your check as fast as you want but that's because they take their time with each and every customer to make sure everyone feels welcomed and heard. The 40 minute drive is always worth it for our favorite cage. read more

I had a Reuben on Ryebread with cottage cheese and root beer. Very delicious. The food is delicious and they'll make it anyway you'd like it if they have the ingredients. You never have to ask for a cup of coffee to be refilled. The owner Nancy is very polite and so is her staff. You really need to come up to Auburn And check it out Nancy's café. read more

Stopped off here on the way to Tahoe. First time and it was great. They make chicken fried steak WITH STEAK! The gravy was fresh and delicious. You must try the home-made jams...perfection! So I've eaten here before and after new management. I'm still on the fence about the new management. The food used to be reasonably priced and delicious but the last time I went in there were egg shells in my wife's poached eggs and the prices had jumped about 3-5 dollars a plate. They did take my wife's plate off the check (which was great). I think it lacks the spring in the step of the staff. I'll probably give it a couple more chances. I know transitioning to new management is not easy. Easily 5 stars before new management but I'm being optimistic with the new management. I'll update this after I try it a couple more times. read more

After riding our mountain bikes at Foresthill my friend took me to this spot to get breakfast. He said it's the best breakfast place in town. And he was right. The place was busy,but they had a table ready for us. Everything looks good on the menu. I ordered the breakfast lover. The food come fast and fresh from the grill. It was a lot of food. The portion was huge. My friend told me to try their hot sauce. Their hot sauce made the scrambled eggs taste better. The pancake also was good. Food won this time. I couldn't finish it. It was just to much food for me. This is going to be our breakfast spot after every ride. read more

We were out of town in Auburn for wedding and missed free breakfast at Hotel. So, we drove around , then decided to Yelp and Nancy's popped up. It was delicious. Alot of food and so much favor. Vegan and vegetarian options. We ordered the almost everything omelette with home fries and I highly recommend having the fries with their homemade Fire nine sauce. Corned beef hash with 2 eggs over easy and hash browns. Chicken and waffles- chicken was juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside - perfect. We ordered the pancakes just to try them because the basil and balsamic intrigued us. Absolutely delicious. That's now going to be our staple. Breakfast comes with toast or English muffin. I don't know about you, but I just found my new favorite brunch spot. The menu is big and full of so many options I was very tempted to get something to go. The vibe feels very local, the hours are kind of limited, it's a pretty small place, and the decor is not much to blink at, cuz it's about the food and the people. Great place to meet with friends or a come as a couple like us and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal. We had a late breakfast, others seemed to enjoy salads and burgers. Service was great. We enjoyed checking out the interesting art on wall (for sale) with a good cup of coffee. Our food arrived quickly (most tables were occupied). I had the lemon curd pancake special and husband had the Hillbilly Eggs Benedict. They placed a bottle of the famous hot sauce (raved by yelp reviewer) on our table, so we gave it a try. Much to our surprise, it was not tongue burning hot! It was extremely flavorful and just a bit spicy, perfect really! I understand why they sell bottles to take home. $8, I think. If you have not been to Nancy's cafe you are missing out! It is conveniently located right off of 80 in Auburn. The food is amazing. We went at brunch so we had a little bit of breakfast and lunch. Hubby had the corned beef hash which is homemade (like everything else here) and we split a single orange cranberry pancake. The pancake was probably the best I have ever had. Fresh cranberries and orange zest it was delicious. We also tried their homemade clam chowder and the chicken sandwich both of which were fabulous. Portion size is large so we ended up taking home some leftovers as well which were just as good the next day. All the staff was super friendly. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. read more
