Spent $40 For Two, Left Disappointed. I don't understand how this is #1 for auburn, genuinely the food was unappetizing, and incredibly high priced. The taste of the biscuits and gravy had a real faux smoked meat and burnt flavor. the sausage patty didn't even taste like italian seasoning was used, had some real funk. but either way all three of our plates were able to maintain a dirty wash rag taste. read more

The Reuben eggs Benedict will literally change your life. I'm a Reuben guy for lunch and an eggs Benedict guy for breakfast. And when they told me they had that on the menu, I had to try it. She keeps you engaged in chit-chat, sometimes even engaging sets of customers, who never knew each other before, and who finally walk out bidding goodbyes as friends , promising to catch up the next time they are here. And by this time, before you know it, you order is taken, and she is off to the next table. While the fare served is standard breakfast, but the kind attention by Nancy makes everything so special ! The vibe of the place is of a well-known and long running breakfast place and food arrives quickly. BTW Nancy will speak to you about the jams and hot sauces she has for sale. And the paintings on the wall. If she does not, you should ask her. Even if you do not buy any of them, you will go back with lovely memories and recollections of the conversations on them. Absolutely awful breakfast! For $50.00, eggs ok, biscuits hard and extremely dry, gravy just ok, bacon overcooked and only explanation was; it's a new person cooking and the "real" guy was on break! Owner wanted to know if I wanted, more dry biscuits!? Why would I?? We've been enjoying Nancy's Cafe for a couple of years now. Overtime, it's the only place we go for breakfast in Auburn. It's consistently always good and Nancy treats everyone like they are a trusted best friend. Today we went for the first time during the lunch hour. It was not busy. Getting a booth was easy with no wait. The lunch portions were huge and tasty. I went with the Western Burger with chicken fried bacon, onions and BB sauce. Sooo good. This was the first time we have been there without Nancy being there. The rest of the staff is also awesome. Also, today was the first time we have been able to score a take home bottle of the Firehouse Nine Hot Sauce. It's probably a good thing that we don't live closer to Nancy's! read more

Parking is plenty inside a shopping complex with a Save Mart. Waited 10 minutes in our car to be seated in a booth. Small place though for a popular brunch spot. Tables spaced less than 6 feet apart. They have framed pop art paintings that caught this geek's attention with the Miyazaki and Monsterverse watercolors displayed on the wall adjacent to us. Service was quick and attentive. Got our coffee and drinks. Another 10 minutes and we got our food orders in. I got the San Francisco Omelette with a side of fruit ($1.50 add-on worth it with the fruit variety). Wife got the Corned Beef Hash. Son got the Cheeseburger. We ordered a side of 1pc Pancake ($5) and 3pcs Chicken Fried Bacon ($10). These orders filled up our table. They were all flavorsome and generoulsy portioned. To-go boxes were requested at the end of this brunch. Don't forget the Fire Nine Hot Sauced. Delectable with just enough heat. Nancy's exclusively has them and sells them for $8 a bottle. Being the cheapo that I am, I just filled-up a small sauce cup with our boxes. Definitely worth a revisit. Can't wait to taste the other popular items and pair it with the hot sauce. Yahhh Meee!!! read more

Also clean and well-maintained. Nancy's is family-owned and operated and it's apparent based on the thought and care they put into both their food and service. A great option for breakfast when we visit Auburn. Small, hole in the wall"ish" and filled with pleasant servers who are very attentive to your needs. I had the steak and eggs while my wife had plain old bacon and eggs. We both got the hash browns but next time I think I want to see how the diced potatoes come out. My steak was cooked just as ordered and a nice touch is the addition of mushrooms and onions on the steak - great flavor in the morning. We will be back when next in Auburn read more

Nice little cafe restaurant that we experienced for a late breakfast/early lunch. Was packed when we got there but luckily one booth was available (inside) for dining. You pick your own seat and they quickly come to ask your drink order. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. Nice 80's music playing in the background. Our server was Nancy. She was super nice and attentive. Our food took about 15 mins to come out so my niece and I had an opportunity to visit and chat while we waited. My coffee stayed topped off. When our food arrived, all the condiments we could possibly need were brought out with it. Food was good and to our liking. Wouldn't mind visiting again and trying one of the specials. read more

Yelp came to the rescue today! It was just daylight and I had driven for an hour down a less than 30 miles Lind very curvy and narrow. I pulled into a parking lot and opened Yelp. Nancy's Cafe popped up and was only half a mile away. I'm sure I wouldn't have found it without Yelp because it's towards the back of a shopping center. I walked in to cozy, friendly feeling place and was greeted with a warm smile and told I could choose my seat. I chose the Fire Inside Omelette with roasted red potatoes and rye toast. The omelette had sausage, spinach, pepper jack cheese and jalapeño. I was delighted that I didn't have to ask for salsa, as you can see by the picture. Service was amazing and I now have a go to place next time I'm in Auburn. read more

Two years later we come back this place. I am still pleasantly pleased You definitely get plenty of food. In fact we could have shared a plate. The breakfast here is delicious. I had hash browns and eggs and my husband had the special breakfast, eggs, bacon, hash browns and sausage. Cook to perfection. We both also ordered fresh squeezed orange juice and it was so fresh!! I LOVE this place! Today I brought a friend. I ordered corned beef hash. YUM! Lots of places claim their version is homemade, but this is the absolute real deal. Eggs poached to perfection, crispy hash browns, hot and scrumptious. I ordered a side of hollandaise, too, which made the entire meal absolute heaven. Very nice people, very good food. Came here for brunch after a drive back from Tahoe. They were able to seat our large group with no notice, and all the food came out pretty quickly. The staff were all awesome and friendly, and the portions were absolutely massive. Hit the spot with classic diner food, and their extensive hot sauce wall was neat!
