My friend used a credit card that the bartender lost and fraudulent charges appeared the the next day. It was a busy night but there is no excuse to loose a credit card. The wings I got were not good and I asked to trade them for regular wings because the sauce didn't taste like buffalo at all. I took one bite of the wing nothing more. The waitress then said the manager said no, so I asked to speak to him. He came to the table and was interrogating me asking me what buffalo wings are "supposed to" taste like. Tried to make me feel stupid & Said the cook was from buffalo himself lol, I've never been to a restaurant where I've even had to talk to a manager, never mind a manger acting this way. The three stars is for the most yummy lobster mac and cheese I've had. However, I haven't had lobster mac and cheese very often before, so maybe I'm comparing it to nothing. I also got a salmon sandwich that was incredible with a giant slab of finely cooked salmon. The pasta salad that it came with was pretty bland though. It's expensive, but not terrible for Martha's Vineyard. I took away two stars despite the yummy food because of the appalling service we had. The waitress was cold and spilled a drink on my friend! She offered to buy her her next drink, but then still charged her in the end. We also came with a large group and instead of allowing us to just pull over one extra table, the manager came over and acted irritated. My group and I had dinner at Nancy's restaurant which is upstairs from the snack bar. Overall good food, great scenery, and great ambiance. The food and patio was a show stopper for my group. We sat outside on the patio. We ordered fried shrimp and calamari for an appetizer and we ate it all. For dinner we ordered the lobster mac, the baked cod, the fish and chips and I ordered the seafood pasta. Although this is a seafood place and not italian, I glfound the fettuccine to be the best fettuccine I've had at a restaurant. I am unsure if they make their own pasta but it sure tasted fresh and homemade. It was cooked perfectly with a bit of a bite and the truffle parm cream sauce was delicious! We'll this is not one of my favs on the island. I usually go when it first opens for the sake of avoiding most of the tourists. Its pretty expensive and I would definitely consider it more on the side of a tourist trap. The view is awesome on the outdoor deck though. They just re-did the whole edge of the porch and it is very nice. I first ordered a pomegranate martini, mistake on my part. It was one of their specialty drinks and it was like drinking juice for 11$. I ordered another martini but this time straight up martini with a splash of cran. It was much better, a lot more alcohol and it was cheaper than the first martini! I couldn't believe it. My fiance and I started out with a little raw bar of oysters and littlenecks. I got to say that was the best part of the meal. They do have some of the best oysters I have tasted on the island. For me though, I was not a fan of their fish and chips. The batter lacked flavor. It was a very tiny piece of fish and the fries are the large potato fries that I do not like very much. Cole slaw so awful. On the other hand, my fiance ordered the ribs and said they were very good. It was kind of a hit or miss here. When we got the check, I felt we spent way to much for the quality of food we got. I am a local and I am disappointed with myself for falling into the trap of going here with high hopes. I will stick to the local places I know best. Don't miss out on the dirty banana's though! This is the place to be in Oak Bluffs. I have been coming for years and it is always the first stop. Bacon cheeseburger and fries are perfect. Donovan's Reef is the infamous bar that is right on the harbor. Mudslide is the drink of choice here. Line can be very long especially during the summer weekends because Donovan is the only bartender. All of his drinks are amazing so it is worth the wait. Location is second to none and the food is cheap and delicious. Very convenient for those who take the Island Queen and is perfect for a quick bite to eat and great drinks. My favorite place to be in the summer and there is nothing I would change about this place. read more

Nancy's would be a 3-star if not for the amazing location, view, atmosphere, and Dirty Bananas. Went right at noon on Saturday for lunch. We had 6 people and the hostess moved 2 tables together to fit us. We were sitting upstairs, indoors. A few of us split the Buffalo Chicken Dip, served with toasted french bread (I think). It was bomb. For lunch I had a cheeseburger which was good, but nothing memorable. I think it was $15? One of my friends got the Lobster Roll which was perfect size for a girl; tiny for a guy (and $21). Drinks were obviously Dirty Bananas - although keep in mind they are not the same as the ones Donovan whips up downstairs. The ones upstairs are not as strong, although they are served in fancy daiquiri glasses. Nancy's is a hot spot and if you're staying in Oak Bluffs you have to come here at least once. And then my mind quickly travels to Martha's Vineyard, a nostalgic place where I spent many a summer vacation. Sadly, I'm reminded that this summer did not include the once annual trip to MV and I'm deeply saddened. A fall trip must be in order! But I digress. These Dirty Bananas cannot be beat. It doesn't matter what your tastes are - don't like milkshakes? Doesn't matter. Don't drink alcohol? Well that's your problem. Don't like chocolate? Enough out of you. All walks of life will fall in love with a Donovan's Dirty Banana, trust me. Donovan himself is a pretty spectacular character. He embodies the island life, although you wonder if maybe he'd be better suited for a tropical island? No, never mind. We need him in New England. Always a smile on his face and a dance in his step, everyone loves Donovan and I think Donovan loves us too. Well, not 2 hours ago, Barack Obama just walked out of the place with 2 big bags of fried seafood. Clams and Shrimp. As we were driving back from Black Dog and heading back to our B&B in Oak Bluffs we saw the state police, road blocks and throngs of tourists with long lenses in hand looking to get a glimpse of the POTUS. I had low expectations for this place because of the hype and recently Presidential visit but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a huge place right on the water and was incredibly busy even as we went in for a late lunch. I ordered the burrata mozzarella and it was incredible. The toast on the side was great but the burrata tasted fresh and went well with the other fixings. I wanted to try a few others things but everything had meat or fish in it except the avocado sushi, which I had. They did have more vegetarian options than I expected. My friends and I were quite unsatisfied. We paid $30 for a lobster roll which looked like it could've came from a fast food establishment. Portions were very small and it only came with potato chips. The food itself was also plain. There was nothing except warm lobster (and lack of) on a small roll. This was highly not up to par or expectations. Being from Texas and just on a day trip from Boston I wasn't sure what to order. The gentleman working was very friendly and pleasant and quickly fixed me up with some fried clams with tarter sauce and French fries. Then he recommended the 'dirty banana' to drink from the bar next door. Everything was delicious! I loved eating on the patio and watching the boats come in and out of the harbor. This is one of my fav places. If you ever visit Oak Bluffs, you should definitely eat here. Their burgers are AMAZING and their fired calamari plate with tartar sauce is definitely worth the spend. Their seafood dishes also come with a side of fries so there is more than enough to eat. Also, it has a relaxing setting. There is an indoor sitting area, an outside sitting area and an upstairs sitting area where you can see a view of the city. Staff is also really nice. Definitely worth the visit. read more

Right before we left the island, we had a lunch at Nancy's Restaurant. We ate inside the restaurant on the second floor. We had a clam chowder soup, cocktail shrimp, steamed little beck for appetizer, steamed lobster and fried scallops for the main course. Everything taste so good. The fried scallops are fresh and delicious. The only thing I would have a comment is the clam dish. The meat was a little tough and the broth a bit salty. I was brought to the vineyard to provide an extra set of hands to a family I nanny for on their annual vacation. Nancy's is one place they return to year after year, raving about their hummus, tabouleh, and falafel long before we even got to the vineyard. I ordered the $11 falafel plate so I could sample everything. The portions were quite substantial, and resulted in two full meals for me. The flavors were pretty darn good. While the tabouleh wasn't chopped up as small as I like, it was obviously hand chopped (or very very poorly food processerized) and the ingredients were fresh. The falafel comes on a bed of salad greens with a mouth-watering tahini dressing that I wish I could recreate in my own kitchen. They could definitely do a lot worse (as many places on the vineyard do) with the hummus and pita - I thought it was amazing at the time, but now I think I was deluded by my hummus-deprivation (it's something I eat almost daily at home). We ate outside, on one of the many picnic benches they have on their deck right next to the water for a beautiful view. I wish I hadn't been with 20-month old twin boys so I could have enjoyed the bar, which looked so very enticing in all it's fruity frozen drink-ness, but c'est la vie. If ever I come back to the vineyard with people closer to my own age, I'll surely devote some time to Nancy's. read more

Located right in the marina of Oak Bluffs, this place offers a few different feels throughout its restaurant. Downstairs is the outdoor bar that serves snacks, beer, and has the game playing. Upstairs there is the patio with a bar, awesome view, and waiter service. Then inside it looks like a more upscale restaurant. We were seated upstairs outside and got a table pretty fast. Got the clam chowder, boiled lobster, and some cherry stones. The service was quick. A good place to hit for some cocktails or dinner out. read more

It's official, I'm a fan! My mom recommended this place, and this is one of the few reasons why she is so awesome. I had a great experience at Nancy's. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately, and that's unusual for a party of 5, at least in my experience. The menu options were satisfactory (mostly seafood) and the service was on point. I ordered the lobster. It came with a side of corn on the cob and red potatoes. Everything was delicious. The potatoes don't come seasoned, but it wasn't anything a little salt and pepper couldn't fix. I usually dread the process of eating lobster, but the tools I was supplied with were sufficient and I didn't have to use up too much bicep strength to get the job done. I was very pleased with that. The only not-so-great thing about this place was the calamari. It was flavorless. Stay away from it. Everything else was great. 5 stars! read more
