Notably, Ms. Abigail, who we mentioned it was our anniversary and the next thing we knew, she and Carl brought out our lilikoi cheesecake with a sweet little white chocolate "Happy Anniversary" addition. They even gave it to us for free. What a bonus because it was Deeeelicious!! We enjoyed chatting with Abigail for a few minutes and found out her wedding anniversary is a week after ours. My wife and I had a great dinner at Nanea last night. Started with 2 Perfect Rye Manhattans. She had the Hawaiian Papaya Greens with nicely grilled Ono. I had grilled Kanpachi served over pasta with a light lemon sauce and nicely sautéed vegetables. Both were perfectly cooked. So, let's start with the positives...there were 8 of us. Reservation was right on time. Anthony, our server was sweet and attentive. 6 of us really enjoyed our dinners. The pork quesadilla, ahi poke nachos, fish and chips, lettuce wraps, and pork chop were all delicious Now for the downside. The cocktails tasted more like lemonade. Not sure there was any alcohol in them. But the worst was the so called prime rib. Truly awful. It looked like they had sliced a thin slice off the whole and microwaved it and that's how it tasted. The potatoes were mediocre and the "one" carrot was pathetic. So, for $39 it was a ripoff. It's a shame because it was otherwise a nice experience. read more

I have been waiting for about 5 minutes at the front to be seated and no one came. I was there for a breakfast buffet and every server was walking and rushing by really fast. So I felt ignored being the only 1 there and I decided after 5 minutes of standing there to go in and help myself to the breakfast buffet. I got some scrambled eggs, tater tots and sausages. The food was just plain good! Nothing too out of the ordinary. I did the green choice which was to give up a day or 2 for a free breakfast as a guest at the hotel. After sitting and eating there, a nice young lady came to ask me if I needed anything else. I said just OJ and cofee please. I decided to give the nice lady a $10 tip for less than 5 minutes of service. Nanea was a joy to dine in. They surprised us with a sweet table arrangement. Candle and roses with rose petals strewn on the table? Wow! So I know the place during the day. It's the usual across the pool restaurant that's busy feeding the resort owners and their visitors. But at night what they did for us transformed our little area into a romantic one. Food: I ordered the two best options in my humble opinion in the menu. For their Entree Tasting you shell out $45 and you get to try two of their main dishes. I chose the Roasted Monchong with Yukon mashed potatoes, broccoli, citrus butter, confit tomato and garlic, crispy shallots, red wine reduction. Second choice was their Ribeye Steak. Medium. Roasted Potatoes, seasonal veggies, Madera Demi Glace, Bacon onion jam. This was an awesome choice. The steak was tender, cooked perfectly and tasty cooked simply. Just the way I like it. I had their Bourbon Mango mule. I will get this again. Service was great and attentive without being intrusive. Sitting next to that koi pond at night really was sweet. This review is for breakfast buffet only. We got credit for $50 from Westin resort to use at Nanea restaurant so we came here for breakfast. You can choose table breakfast buffet for $26 per person or a la carte. The buffet is including pancakes, toast, rice, scrambled eggs, potatoes, fruits, pastry, sausage,etc. You get the idea... basic continental breakfast! The quality is not so good. The presentation is very sad. They have problems with birds... so everything is covered up and sad looking! For a la carte, I got waffles with dark chocolate and coconut milk for $20. It is good but not worth the calories and money. The service is pretty bad. We had outdoor seating and our waiter was a friendly person. The food, however, was rather disappointing. I must say to please steer away from fries, they are overly salty and it will cause you to drink multiple cups of water. Their king salmon was small and just okay, nothing special to it. The same thing with ribeye, it was just okay although the mashed potatoes were good. The Hawaiian plate was just ok as well and was not special or too delicious. Given the prices of the entrees you would expect better but our expectations were not met. If you do go here, only go for their poke nachos, onion rings and their ube cheesecake! We also enjoyed the dessert - the ube lilikoi cheesecake was so delicious! I recommend that dessert as a must try. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We sat on the lanai so a Nene bird even came up to us, which was really cute. The Nene is an endangered Hawaiian goose, so it's rare to see one up close and personal. The most notable thing about this Princeville Westin resort restaurant is that the service was really good and they have a good Gluten Free menu. We visited a few times and different servers provided great friendly attentive service. There is no breakfast served here and the menu is a little bit limited but they do have gluten free options AND the food is really good. We tried a number of things and it was all prepared exactly right. The fish options were all good, the steak was perfectly prepared. Went here to celebrate a birthday! Had a reservation at 6pm and was seated right away by Abigail. Our server, Parisa, was so pleasant regardless of them being short staffed. Got us started with drinks, pupus, and our keiki meal for our son. Fish and chips was a winner! My son ate so well! Kids get a coloring sheet and crayons to keep them entertained for a bit. For our main dishes we got the specials: prime rib and pasta. I usually don't get any white sauce pasta because it's too rich but this pasta was perfect! Not too rich! For Dessert, I was a bit sad as they usually have a pastry chef but didn't so they order their desserts from Orlys (in LIHUE). Delayed review from the end of Feb 2020. I was pleasantly surprised with the food here. This restaurant is located in the resort, so that made it an easy trek from my room to get sustenance ... The birds were on a mission to share my meal, and I wasn't having it. I made empty threats to a few of them (if you don't want to get sauteed, move it buddy - lol). They were cute though... The tropical visuals with palm trees, tropical plants and a view of the ocean on their patio, made the meal even more enjoyable. I had the Loco Moco, they incorporate beef short ribs instead of spam. I found myself closing my eyes with every bite, yes it was one of those meals... I wanted to ask, so what you doing later Ms. Loco Moco? Let's meet again tomorrow? How about I fly you to Texas or let's meet in Chicago my love, I'll show you the town... This was love at first bite. Stop judging, I don't get out much lol. Now my waiter, was polite, but slightly cynical. If Joe Pesci and Steve Buscemi had a love child, that's this guy. We decided last minute to dine out for Christmas Day dinner... Luckily, Nanea could take us! It was a prefix menu so choices were limited but we were pleasantly surprised with the variety of options available to us. It was a really well balanced menu with a good selection of seafood/beef options and enough selections to meet just about any dietary restriction. That made me happy! It also came with a wine pairing which looked phenomenal but I passed on because I didn't want my husband to have to carry me back to the room He, opted for his standard manhattan which he enjoyed. Our server was attentive, friendly and very "aloha spirit" oriented. The restaurant was pretty packed but he still was able to make the rounds enough to where we did not feel neglected, especially given it was a 4 course meal. I think the winner of the evening was my husbands locally caught snapper entrée. It was out of this world! I of course, couldn't resist the lamb, because, I adore lamb chops and never cook them. As with most things that aren't "local" it wasn't as good as the snapper, but it was still good, prepared tenderly with the right amount of seasoning. I enjoyed it. Going in reverse, the octopus appetizer was fantastic as well! Another resounding winner. It was a small portion but tender, beautiful and tasty. I opted for the pear salad which was admittedly mediocre. I was off my game tonight with ordering! Lastly we had dessert- I opted for the sorbet which was, fine. It was typical sorbet! My husband had the coconut cake and it had the absolute BEST scoop of coconut I've had in my entire life. It literally blew me away. I've never had that creamy, or flavorful of coconut ice cream ever. Honestly, we usually go into "hotel restaurants" with lower expectations, and when there's a preset menu, the bar's lowered even more but this dinner really impressed us. We sat on the patio that overlooks the pool and the ocean beyond. There were evening pool goers but we didn't care. We watched the staff light the tiki torches after the sun went down. We really enjoyed the outside seating, right next to the grassy knoll and overall found the meal exceeded our expectations and that the pricing was quite fair for a holiday, preset menu. read more

For years we have attended the Thanksgiving dinner at the Princeville Nanea restaurant. Normally they have a local Hawaiian singer. This year there was no entertainment and prices were 50% higher. The service was adequate. The wine was a twist top Pinot Grigio that was almost undrinkable. The food was bland starting with a salad consisting of a little lettuce and yams. The turkey was bland and dry. The stuffing and potatoes were bland, The meal at best was a $50 meal they charged $145 per person. This was an obvious attempt to gouge the tourist who have limited choice on Thanksgiving in Princeville. For years the Nanea has been our go to restaurant. Unfortunately as a local resident we will not be back. read more

We got a $75 gift certificate as part of our timeshare presentation package. Unfortunately, the $75 gift certificate couldn't be used for parking fees, tips, or taxes, so we decided to use it at Nanea, which was the biggest disappointment. My wife got the chicken with pineapple fried rice and I got the ribeye steak. The chicken entree was so bad that my wife barely ate any of her food and had to finish the sushi she bought at Foodland the night before. My ribeye was on par with a steak you would get at Denny's. In other words, do not eat here, even with the gift certificate. The tip we spent and the taxes we paid for this meal, was even too much for the food we got. Also, my wife would usually get the free breakfast (you get a free breakfast here every time you forgo housekeeping), but the usual cost is $27. For free, the breakfast is worth it, but for $27, it priced way, way more than what it should be since it's basically a continental breakfast. If you have to pay full retail, it's better to save your money and just get something in Hanalei or at Foodland. read more

I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone. My sister ordered the Teriyaki Chicken. Ir was only half a one side of breast. It tasted like industrial, cold, overcooked rubbery chicken. The onion rings tasted like Walmart Equate Frozen onion rings. the panko crust was hard and doughy. My sister is not one to complain. she didn't tell me until after she was finished. When I told the waitress about the chicken, she whined we should have told her before we finished it. she said she can't comp us anything but a free cheesecake. when we tasted it, Saralee frozen cheesecakes were better tasting. Ordered a pizza, Caesar salad and burger with fries. First of all the pizza is pre frozen and then heated up in their gift shop! Not even in the main kitchen. The taste is bland, cheese is chewy and thick, sauce tastes just like tomato sauce, no seasoning. I couldn't even finish one slice. The Caesar salad was a big bunch of romaine lettuce with a sprinkle of grocery market box croutons, and thick creamy dressing that tastes heavily like mayonnaise. Nothing special. The burger patty was thick and super dry, loaded with the basics but again nothing special. Fries were basic , frozen fries. Nothing seemed fresh. Equivalent to a burger from Dennys or somewhere similar. I wish I could ask for a refund, that's how unhappy I am with my order, food was not cheap, I expected better. read more
