First time at this place. Great methi mutter(asked for no paneer and replace with mutter). Fresh methi loved the taste. Garlic naan was thin not doughy. Just the way we like it. It's my first time having indo-chinese food and I think they're pretty good. Some of them has quite strong flavor but I enjoyed most of the rest. The place is half full when I went and the vibe was quite cozy. I went on weekend brunch for their AYCE which was $19.99 per person. They didn't have fancy meat, mostly chicken and tofu, but for the price, the variety of food is quite large. They also have bottled water, dessert and fresh fruits too. Lovely service! read more

Excellent indian schezuan infleunced tasty food in Artesia Pioneer Boulevard. We ordered Schezuan Chopsuey which was main highlight and customized spicy option. This place is great for the Indian Chinese mixed food in little India. My friend and I got the gobi Manchurian which had a nice crispy texture to it and it was delicious. The chili chicken was also done well and it was tender. The garlic naan was buttered and it paired very well with the dinner. The goat curry was very tender and soft and the spices were just right. The staff was very nice and the food came out at a reasonable time. The atmosphere of this place was somewhat family oriented and homely but it also had a bit of a nice dinner vibe to it where they also serve alcohol. read more

I wanted to try this place since they have Indo Chinese and good reviews on Yelp. Was pleasantly surprised when we walked in on a Sunday to find a lunch buffet. The place was packed with two large groups and live music which I haven't seen anywhere else in Artesia. I'm not sure if they offer the regular menu when they have a buffet but was eager to try the buffet anyways. They had a large selection of both Indo Chinese and Indian dishes. They had samosas, a peanut mix, pakora, hot and sour soup, you name it. The chicken tandoori was so juicy and flavorful. Everything had good spice which is rare for Indian buffets. I think other restaurants in Artesia have retired their lunch buffers but am so glad there is one option. read more

Definitely our go to place for Indo-chinese food. This place gets super busy so make sure to have a reservation. It's a well maintained place and the service is good but slow. Specially if they are busy you could be waiting a long time. We have tried their schezwan noodles, spicy fried rice, vegetable Manchurian, paneer chilly and momos and they have been delicious. Some of the noodles are more bland than others so careful ordering those. read more

What a lovely place! I can't believe I have not tried this place yet! We had an appetizer first, Hydrabadi chicken 65. Omg! So delicious, spicy but not too much so. Tangy with a light crunch for the chicken and the freshest veggies. Onion, peppers, scallions, basil, yum. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the basmati paneer rice for our entrees and a Taj Mahal beer. All were spectacular. Good portions, not too spicy (my babe is a wimp!) and some great spice options to add on the side. Service was excellent. Personable and friendly, explaining the various dishes. Nanking Chinese is not predominantly Chindian cuisine -- in fact, there are more Indian offerings than "Chinese Indian" on the menu, but both are offered via a buffet at lunch time as well as a la carte. -- start with a Lassi ($2.50-$4), and there are three, or Mango Tango ($4) to sip on while perusing the menu.my friends and I opted to go a la carte instead of buffet. We started with some appetizers. Punjabi Somosa ($4.50) are stuffed with potato and peas and should be shared. They are filling, but pretty good with the mint sauce in the condiment container they will bring to the table. The mint sauce here is different to the others. It is not bright green and doesn't have yogurt mixed in. It is refreshing and light and so easy to eat. I am new to Bombay Frankie ($7) and found them rather interesting. Traditionally, they are more like wraps, but here, they look like egg rolls and are filled with paneer (cheese) and vegetables. This is a vegetarian item and surprisingly good -- I'm not usually a fan of paneer. A dipping sauce of chilis infused in vinegar is served alongside and adds a zing by cutting the heaviness of the fried item. In fact, the sauce is also good with the samosas. One of my favorite items was the Murg Malai Kebab ($13), chunks of white meat, grilled and topped with this delicious sauce. I can't tell you what's in the sauce, but my son ate the leftovers and demanded more so I know it's REALLY good. I'm a huge fan of okra and so Bhindi Aloo Mirch Masala ($10) was right up my alley. I would've liked no potatoes (not a fan of them) and all okra, but the name of the dish is bhindi (okra) aloo (potatoes) and not just bhindi -- *sigh* -- I can eat this all day. The okra was slightly shriveled so all the flavors were sucked into them, simply divine. If you're a fan of chili fries, try the Szechuan Fries served on a sizzling platter. I can't remember what they are called on the menu, Chili Garlic Potatoes ($11), I think, but these are tossed in a slightly spicy Sichuan sauce. I brought the leftovers home and my son devoured them. Next came Spicy Gobi Manchurian ($11) which is a Chindian dish of fried cauliflower tossed in a sweet sauce -- I didn't detect much heat. I don't like sweetness in my savory food so this obviously wasn't my favorite, but everyone else liked it a lot. Besides okra, eggplant is another item I can eat all day long. Therefore, it wasn't surprising that I ordered Hot Garlic Eggplant ($11), which is pretty much similar to the ones you get at Chinese restaurants. I liked this a lot. Chicken Tikka Masala ($14), or butter chicken is good here -- not one of my favorite items -- chicken is tender and flavor spot on. It seems like this is a dish loved by all, but me. There are tons of other dishes I'd much rather eat, such as the next one. Housboat Fish Curry ($14) is essentially Goan Fish Curry and I absolutely adore this dish when done right. I had it at Tamarind not long ago and frankly, it was tasteless. When I put the first spoonful of this curry into my mouth, I knew I had found the right one. The aromas of curry leaves permeated throughout the sauce and the fish was moist and tender. This is not a spicy curry, in fact, there isn't any heat to it at all, but the layers of flavors creates a complexity which is essential to a good Goan Fish Curry. Just writing this up right now is making me salivate and wanting some over piping hot basmati rice. Besides rice, you can opt for Laccha Parantha ($2.50), a flaky bread or, the quintessential Garlic Naan ($2.50) to accompany your meal with. read more

First off for those that don't know this place isn't a real Nanking. I'm from New york and recently moved here to LA. When I went to little India and saw the Nanking sign I was quite surprised and excited they had one. The one in NYC is awesome. However when I went inside it clearly wasn't a "Real" Nanking! The decor seemed off, but what gave it away was the food. I went in excited for indo chinese left with a bad taste in my mouth and a first hand experience of unprofessionalism of a chef. My group of friends ordered a little of everything. As we ate things got quiet and we shook our heads. We agreed everything was quite bland and something was missing. The hakka noodles were just plain noodles which I could have cooked with some siracha. Chicken wasn't cooked properly and felt like the meat they used from the left over buffet. As food it was ok I guess for a soup kitchen. For fine dining food that gets quite expensive it was laughable. We thought about arguing with the owner, but it had been a long day and just split the bill an left. we grabbed some Jack in the box down the street on our way back to LA. When I got home looked online and found out for myself that this isn't a real "Nanking" or associated with the ones in NYC! Just look for yourselves online! Pretty much why I even made a yelp account in the first place is so people don't make the same dumb mistake I did. If I ever go back in the area I will definitely have a word with the owner. Also if anyone can direct me to some other Indo-chinese places that'd be much appreciated. Edit in response: Sir everyone is entitled to their own opinion when it comes to food. Maybe other people liked it that day. I thought it was the Nanking that I used to eat when I went to NYU. I am more annoyed at the fact you blatantly ripped off a brand name in the east coast. If you did attend the table you'd remember we were there with our professors from university nd they paid or at least the department did for our meals as a treat for helping them grade midterms that weekend. You need to evaluate how you handle criticism and not attack customers and blatantly say a bad review is a fake review. I created an account just to point out my issue with your name. Would have given ZERO stars if there is an option. We went here on a weekend and it was a very bad experience. Food (both taste and options), Service, Ambiance all sucks. We went there in the past and were surprised that the quality deteriorated so much - from the looks of it, this place is ready to be shutdown. The place is severely understaffed. As soon as we entered, we were shown a table to sit in. Table is ok, but no silverware. When asked to get some spoons, the response is go get it from a table that is empty. There were no plates and bowls for the buffet. Temperature outside was 110 and A/C was not running. After few customers complained, it was turned on. The buffet has very few options. The rice in veg biryani is dried out and the curries are not well prepared at all. Apart from the 2 desert options, nothing tasted good. This will be the last time we will ever go here. read more

I'm so glad I tried Nanking in Artesia! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming. We love this place. They serve up some unique items normally not found at other Indian buffets, obviously because of the strong other Asian influences. The selection is wide and the prices are fair. At the time of our visit they had a bottled beer special that we're coming back for. The service was good and there's a little bit of free parking in the shopping center.
