Naples is a terrific little local restaurant that offers a variety of items in addition to some really good pizza. We've been coming for years and have never had a bad meal. Timing is critical if you want to eat in, as it's a really small place - 4 or 5 booths, and a handful of tables. The salads tend to be big, so we usually split one, and they are nice enough to plate them separately (without asking - just by mentioning splitting one). We split a house salad this time, with homemade balsamic dressing. An order of fried mozzarella came with 4 good sized wedges, and fried so crisply that we could pick them up and dunk them in the sauce. The accompanying red sauce was a bit bland, I would have liked a bit of garlic and herb flavor. A medium pizza was plenty for two of us, with a bit of leftovers for lunch the next day. Their crust is thin, crispy on the bottom, but not cracker-crisp, and delicious. The tomato sauce tastes fresh and just a bit sweet, a nice foil to the star here - the spicy pepperoni. I love a quality pepperoni that curls up and crisps along the edges when it cooks. There's a nice choice of sandwiches and salads, with a few pasta dishes, and the also offer pizza by the slice if you have a smaller appetite or can't eat a whole pizza. We got there at the right time and probably waited another 45 minutes for the pizza to be ready. When we got it home, pizza wasn't cooked all the way and my side of meatballs were cold. This is definitely the best pizza in the Farmington Valley and possibly CT. I know that New Haven spots are supposed to be the best but you really can't go wrong here. The slices are huge, the sauce is excellent and the ratio of cheese is excellent. Crispy too. Most spots in NE require you to order a small/individual size pie to get a taste. When I find a spot that serves slices, I feel like I could be in for a NY pizza experience. Naples does not disappoint in this way and I would put theirs up against any pizza that I could get in NYC. I've been a long-time customer of Naples because I think the food is good and reasonably priced. But I've become increasingly frustrated with the lack of attention to detail when placing and picking up orders. In short, they get it wrong - a lot. I just had my fourth incident in six months where what I ordered and what I got was different. Never mind that I was correctly charged - but what went in the bag - or didn't - wasn't right. Now normally I'd chalk up one or two incidents to an inexperienced staff that's hustling hard to handle the boatloads of orders that come in on weekend nights. But now it seems to be a relatively common experience. In short, they need tighter and tougher management. They need to make sure that what a customer orders is what a customer gets. I should not have to pick up a shopping bag of food and pull everything out to make sure it's right. And on a busy night, that's next to impossible. If it means hiring someone just to make sure what what's in the bag is correct - than so be it. Kirk, the owner/operator, is obviously doing very well based on the crowd they bring in and I'm sure there is money in the budget to add a dedicated take-out person to handle just take-out orders. Otherwise, I'm done. Other places to go to get pizzas and subs - and FYI, Pepe's doesn't slice the pie until they confirm it's just what you ordered. Might be a lesson for Naples and the folks behind the counter. read more

Thin crust, tasty, delicious pizza that hits the spot! My first time at Naples was for takeout. Any pie is ready within 15 minutes, and it's a great option if you're on your way home from work. For $20 I walked away with a large pizza, half meatball and bacon, half sausage. My favorite part was the ohh so sweet plum tomato sauce under the cheese. Although I wish there was a little more sausage on half, everyone was happy! I took a menu to go, and hope to go back to eat inside at one point, the menu consists of standard Italian/American cuisine - predominately pizza. read more

I was referred by a coworker who is from Canton, but I was very skeptical because I don't think highly of CT pizza because a lot of places feel that they need to use cornmeal on the bottom of the crust. This is just disgusting; you get a gritty taste in your mouth and it gets worse when that cornmeal is scorched (I had this experience at Modern Apizza of all places!). And up until recently, the one place I found nearby that has acceptable pizza is Michael Angelo's in Rocky Hill. But even their pizza has something about it that doesn't make it comprabale to NY pizza (maybe it's too much cheese?). So it took me a few extra minutes to find it because it's around the corner from Starbucks. In other words, you cannot see this place from the parking lot!!! But once I figured it out, I was happy I did. The first thing that gave me hope was seeing slices in a glass case by the register, the way it should be (take notes, other CT pizza places!). Another nice suprise was seeing that they had "liter of cola!"...by that, I mean Foxon Park soda. I had a slice of regular (cheese, for the non-New Yawkahs) and a slice of white. In NYC/Long Island, in case the reader is unaware, there's a very thin layer of ricotta instead of red sauce, and there are globs of ricotta on top of the pizza. This white slice lacked the globs of ricotta, but it was absolutely delicious and would probably order a whole pie of this! It was so good that I had to walk out with a slice of veggie and another white slice. Simply put, it was the best NY pizza I've had since I moved up here in Feb 2012, and you really need to enjoy some of their food. And by the way, they don't cornmeal!!! Honestly, pizza makers should be fined and/or arrested for that. read more

Best New York-style, thin crust pizza in Connecticut!! Careful...if you drive by too fast you just might miss it because it's kind of tucked off in the corner of a little strip-mall...and the parking lot pretty much sucks. Just deal with it...when you find it, it will be WELL worth it! You can get the pie by the slice or order a whole one to go. I'd recommend the latter because having your pizza at home with a pint of whatever beer floats your boat is really the best way to go! I'd recommend the Margarita Pizza or even the White Pizza if you're not into too much red sauce...sooooo yummy. Service is fairly speedy but expect a line during the busy times. read more

Great pizza local in CT! Visited town for a wedding and stopped off for a quick long- place does not disappoint! The staff is super friendly and accommodating and the pizza Is super delish! Yes, you can actually find amazing pizza in CT!!! We had the: Tomato and basil pizza pie- it was great! The crust was thin and crispy - just how I like it! It was enough for 6-8 people to share. Waldorf salad was decent - though I'm not crazy about mixed greens- just a preference. But salad was fresh! Fried dough- was a nice treat! Lemonade- was super refreshing! I've had pizza here twice and I haven't been blown away to the point where I'd rate 4 or 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is still good. I've gotten a bacon and mushroom pie one time and the other time got the arugula and prosciutto. The custom bacon and mushroom tasted good, probably just as good as you would have anywhere else though. The speciality pie I got to go. It was made just as a plain white pie with a little truffle oil drizzled on top. The arugula and prosciutto were given on the side (assuming so the greens wouldn't wilt). Best pie in Farmington and top 2 in area. I'll take Harry's in West Hartford as the only pie to top Naples in my opinion. However, I give slight edge to Naples over the highly touted Frank Pepes. The ambiance is cozy and comfortable - great for a winter day and then when the weather is great there's a roomy patio with tables and umbrellas. the place is off to the side next to starbucks. it wasn't a huge spot. they have space for probably like 20 people but it was nicely designed. there is a big TV with espn on the wall. it's a nice and clean sit down with wait service or pick up. we got a medium mozzarella pizza ($17 or 18 i think) and chicken parm ($8 or 9 i think). they were both very good. the pizza was thin crust although i prefer thicker crust but it was big. their medium is a typical place's large. their large is a little bigger Costco's large. the chicken parm was stacked with some ham or something but it was very good. the sauce was a little sweet but good. they also have huge individual slices but i didn't see the price for those. they have bottled and fountain drinks. the workers were very friendly and helpful. one thing to note was the place got a little smokey. maybe the ventilation wasn't good that day. i would recommend this place. read more

My wife and I found Naples pizza thanks to someone sitting next to us on a flight, and it was one of the best coincidences I've had befall me in the last couple of years. My wife has Celiac disease and we hadn't been able to find a decent place for her to get pizza until that happened. The regular pizza is delicious and the gluten-free offerings are hands down the tastiest and most reasonably priced offerings I've come across. Toppings and sauce are high-quality and fresh, the salad offerings are large enough to share before your meal or serve as an entree on their own if you'd rather. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and willing to talk about the menu choices for any questions you have. The restaurant itself has a fairly small dining room, in a comfortable, wood-paneled seating area. The food is obviously a hit and they do a brisk business in take-out orders so you can expect a wait during the weekend and other peak times. I'm still a fan of Luna's but Naples is still on the top of my list! My sliced meatball and green pepper (large) pizza was $20.63 (standard), but I couldn't believe that adding chicken to a large was $5.20 extra. Paninis were around $9.25 (maybe I'm the minority, but nearing $10 for a sandwich is just too much in my opinion). Naples is some of the best pizza Ive had in CT. Thin crust, just the right amount of char on the bottom, super fresh ingredients. They dont have too many super-inventive pies, but they dont need to. They stick to the big sellers and just offer a small list of superb specialty pies. Sauce is great. If youre looking for a very filling appetizer, get the meatball plate. Great meatballs, smothered in sauce and definitely enough for two people to split. Sit in, or dine out. Picked our son up from CCU and searched Yelp for best rated NY style Pizza around. Naples was our obvious destination after reading the reviews. Thanks again Yelpers. Yet another great spot THANKS to Yelp. We showed up around 3pm on a Saturday and all of the 10 or so booths were filled. I'm sure there's def a nice wait during peak eating times. We were seated as soon as they cleaned off a table by a very friendly staff member. We didn't really look over the menu per we've been jonesing for some good pie for a week and haven't had a chance to eat any. There were also some very good looking dishes going by besides pies. Great looking salads to the mussels the couple in the booth across from us were enjoying. Apparently this highly rated pizza spot is not one dimensional. From reading the reviews and seeing wings mentioned more than once at a highly rated Pizza restaurant we started with some wings. I'm not big fan of thick sauced up wings. Until now that is. Lots of tasty spicy hot sauce stuck firm to these very large buffalo wings. We all liked them. We had the HOT wings which were a nice heat. Not crazy in any way. Followed by a pie my wife picked out. A large Eggplant, sausage, and ricotta cheese. They made the wrong size or something and came over to apologize for the delay and offered me another beer on the house. Very nice gesture. And no I didn't take advantage of the beer offer. On that not we saw the 20 for 10 deal on Yelp which we thought was very nice as well and still forgot to use it even after I pulled out my phone and checked in on Yelp. NY style thin crusted goodness. The pie came loaded with toppings. The eggplant cut into one inch squares was breaded and fried. A great crunchy bread coating with a nice tender center. This eggplant would be kickass on a parm grinder. (Note to self for next time. Grab one to go after meal.) Linked Italian sausages sliced thin long ways and clumps of ricotta cheese. Actually our first but not last time ordering this combination of ingredients on a pie. Everything about this pie was good. Great crunch on the airy crust. Really long wait in a crowded entrance made eating here a little nerve wracking. What made it bearable was the staff. The young ladies working here were on the ball. Hard working, polite and truly made the place worth it. The pizza texture and thickness was great. My one complaint was the oregano, but because it was fresh and fragrant, it was actually pretty sweet and made for a nice change. Many of the four tops had two people sitting at them. The 2 four-top tables on the banquet side can be converted to deuces and seat people when there are couples, instead of seating 2 people at a four top. This would help alleviate the congestion at the door. If four people come, you hitch the tables together. Easy. I would avoid Friday and Saturday or better still come early. They don't accept reservations. But, there's a reason why it's crowded. It really is good pizza! Will be back for more. read more
