Naples is that "nice little pizza place down the street," a perfect place to go for that reasonably priced weeknight meal when you don't feel like changing out of your jeans. It's a small place, with a dozen or so tables and an ordering counter. I can only assume it could get crowded quick on a weekend night, but I'd say it's still worth a short wait. While I'm sure Naples can bang out a mean regular ol' pie, you come here for the specialty pizzas, a different animal altogether. And as far as I'm concerned, they do some of the best in the Hartford area. The Prosciutto, described as "Thinly sliced prosciutto, provolone, marinated artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, and olive oil," is fantastically unique, and perhaps my favorite. They even do gluten free pizzas for those with legitimate digestive disorders, and the clinically insane :). Minus-1 star for a few reasons. First of all, it's a bit on the pricey side for what is otherwise a very casual pizza place. Also, we once brought a groupon, and were told that it couldn't be used on wine, despite the lack of such a stipulation printed on the Groupon... My girlfriend and I had dined inside before and had a good time, so we didn't hesitate to revisit. This time it was nice out, so we decided to grab a table outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly, which set the tone for the whole meal. She was always easy to find and never missed a beat. I grew up in NYC and have a strong preference for NY style pizza. Naples has the best NY style pizza in the Farmington Valley. Our second favorite pizza is Luna's (usually from Simsbury). We have been eating Naples food once or twice a week for many years -- both take-out and dine-in. Our favorite pizzas are the Margarita (we choose white), pepperoni (which is nice and spicy and crisp around the edges), plain cheese, or Naples Special (loaded). We also enjoy their big house or Caesar salads, meatball grinders and Chicken Parmesan w/ spaghetti. The restaurant is small and popular, so we usually go with the "plan B" to get take-out if the wait is too long. The staff is always friendly and efficient. I also enjoy the red wine selections available by the glass, when dining in. The food prices are fair for the large portion size. The large pizzas are huge, and the entrees are enough food for a second night's dinner. I choose the kids' size portion when ordering chicken parm and usually end up with enough left-over for lunch. We also love the "by the slice" options for times when we don't need a whole pizza. While it's nice that Naples's added some outdoor tables when they renovated, we generally don't choose to eat outside due to the traffic noise from route 4. Even if we didn't live in town, we would travel up to 30 minutes for Naples' pizza. read more

Been here multiple times now and every time has been amazing for dine in. I think it is important to support restaurants by dining in instead of doing take out. Service has been absolutely wonderful! Friendly servers and quick drink refills. We've loved everything we've tried on the menu and will have to actually try the pizza soon. The paninis are perfection. Pizza can be art if it's done right. These folks weren't around when I grew up in the area, but in the Farmington Valley there are a slew of really good places. Pomodoro (Farmington), Naples, Da Vinci (Avon), Luna (Simsbury), and Little City (Simsbury) are all excellent Naples is so good I have willingly eaten a BBQ pizza from them which is borderline sacrilege in my food book. Stopped in for a quick lunch with a few guys from work. Didn't have any problem getting seating for 7. The server quickly took our order. She was very friendly and had a great personality. I smelled the aroma (and saw the crowd) emanating from this place while the wife ran an errand. So I went a got a few slices for the road. The small interior was SUPER busy on early Friday evening. They have a few tables indoors and a couple more outside. Their pick-up line for to go orders was long but they asked if anyone was just getting slices and served those people while more elaborate orders were taken; in & out in 10 min. We kept it simple with 2 cheese and 1 pep slice and I'll have to stay I was very impressed. I thought the sauce and crust were well done reminded me of the great pizza back in NJ and NYC. I must have gone on an off day, as my experience seems to be quite a bit different than most. We were in the area due to shopping and I'd had this place bookmarked for awhile now so we thought we would give it a shot. Food: I was pretty pumped about the clam pizza since everyone raves about how awesome it is. The wife on the other hand isn't a fan of this type of pizza but she graciously ordered a single slice of cheese so I could get my clam on and not have to compromise on a pizza we would both like (she has her moments). I found the pizza to be pretty damn boring and significantly below par. The clams were very gritty as if they weren't cleaned and they also didn't taste very fresh at all. My wife's slice of cheese pizza had burnt and very rubbery cheese so it seems as if it was burnt initially and was left dying in the window until the clam pizza was ready. Overall a pretty disappointing experience. Bottom Line: I live greater than 40min from this place and the only reason I went is because I was in the area. That being said I would definitely look elsewhere if I were in that same general location. It seems this isn't the norm so probably a good place to try, I hope you experience is better than mine. read more

I've also tried their sandwiches, which were surprisingly good. The wings on the other hand weren't anything to write home about. My boyfriend and I came here on the recommendation of a friend. We arrived on a Friday night at 6pm which, in hindsight, was a huge mistake. The place is tiny and has about 10 tables. We were told it was a 25 minute wait for 2 people, which ended up being more like 40. The servers were friendly and efficient so waiting was fine, but he and I planned on seeing a 7:20 movie, so we were a little annoyed at ourselves for not planning ahead. We sat and ordered right away- he a chicken parm sandwich and me, a pepperoni and bacon pizza pop. We also asked the server to bring the check first so we could pay and run out to get the movie, and they were happy to do that. Now, back to the food. Namely, the pizza pop. My boyfriend really enjoyed his sandwich, but the pizza pop took the cake. What is a pizza pop, you ask? Well, have you ever ordered a pizza and thought, "wow, this would be much more enjoyable if I rolled it up like a rug and ate it?" If so, you're in luck, because that's what a pizza pop is! I hate ricotta cheese, and the pizza pop is a calzone with mozz and sauce instead of ricotta and sauce. When served, it really does just look like a pizza rolled end to end. And man, it. was. STUFFED! It was packed with pepperoni and bacon, which was great for only $10. I ate about 3/4 of it and took the rest to go. Naples Pizza is probably one of the greatest pizza places I've ever been to. The service was outstanding and so was the food. Starting with the drinks, the pellegrino sparking water was fantastic. They offer either blood orange or lemon flavor and both are outstanding choices. The wings at Naples are out of this world! This Californian thinks Naples is probably the best pizza in town. For an out of towner like myself, its a little hard to find, but if you're in that area, chances are, you're visiting someone at Yale or you're a hardcore foodie with super navigational skills. Their prices are very reasonable and the variety of food they server (calzones, sandwiches, pasta) goes beyond a typical pizza joint. Naples is a little difficult to find as others have mentioned. The best way to get there is exit 39 off 84W, continue straight until you reach the end of the hill. It is tucked into a little plaza on your right, if you go over the bridge you have gone too far. Just look for the Starbucks. The pizza crust is quite thin and sort of a brick oven style where the crust will possibly be black in places, depending on how much they cook it. They put a virtually non-existent amount of sauce on the pizza, a majority of it being chunks of tomatoes and onions. Personally I didn't like Naples pizza and won't be back again. read more

I am very picky about pizza. Naples pizza is very, very good. The crust is the right crispiness and the toppings are fresh and delicious. The sauce was not too sweet and the cheese was what it should be. I also had wings. The hot wings were hot, crispy, fresh tasting, and had the right amount of sauce. We got the Naples Special and split a house salad. It's evident they used terrific, fresh, quality ingredients. From the dough to the pepperoni to the mozzarella on the salad - terrific. The pie was a little underdone in the middle (to us) which we decided was a local thing. (We're from St Louis and our pizza crusts are crispy throughout.)
